Located in the hills above Nerja and on the doorstep of the Sierras de Tejada, Almijara, and Alhama - Frigiliana is perhaps the best known of the famous white villages in Andalucia. It's an easy day trip from places such as Malaga or other spots along the Costa del Sol or also a great place to spend a few days relaxing or hiking some of the great trails in the surrounding mountains. There are regular buses from Nerja to Frigiliana starting at around 7.20am and the journey takes around 20 minutes. Tickets cost 1.20 euros and are purchased from the driver. The bus fills up quick so I'd advise getting there 15-20min ahead of time and securing a spot in the unofficial line. This is the only municipal bus going to Frigiliana and you'll appreciate why when you see the narrow streets. The bus takes you to a fairly central location in the village. This is also where the return buses will leave from. Located next to the bus stop is the small tourist train/tram which gives 30min narrated tours of the village. This is a great option for people with mobility challenges as exploring all of the village by foot requires a lot of ascending and descending. Also located next to the bus stop is a large flat viewing area with numerous restaurants and shops. There are also maps next to the bus stop to help get yourself oriented with the village and sights and a map showing the various hiking trails and associated times and difficulty levels. There are some great spots a little higher up that will give some nice pictures of the village and valley as well as the sea.

Such a quaint and pretty village in the hills above Nerja. Peaceful walk around the old town and lunch and coffee stops to bookend the afternoon. Absolutely worth the detour on any trip to or from Malaga which is 45 minutes to the west of Frigiliana.

My favorite of all the coastal towns as it reminded me of Positano but smaller scale. Great views in city and very nice shops and restaurants. Friendly people willing to help as well. I love the coin-operated mannequin fortune teller that told the history of the town with a bird, well worth the 1€. Parking is available but sometimes you have to walk a bit to get to it.

Frigiliana reminds visitors of Santorini or Positano. For good reasons, this ancient, all-white city sits on a hilltop with a view of the sea. The streets are covered in beautiful mosaics and lined with artisanal shops and restaurants. As it's a hilltop city, you'll find many steep streets and staircases.

A picturesque village on a steep gable. White-washed houses, narrow streets. One can stroll for hours. We loved the place.

Yes turístico, but it's still very nice to wander around the streets. Paid 3.20 for two o.k. coffees, so that's really not bad either. Great view

The white city is a must visit if you are in the area. Half a day is fine to see most of it. There are some art/historical pieces on the wall, throughout the city, which describe the history of the place. Stunning, beautiful Moroccan architecture!

Nice views remind you of Mykonos. Cool town. Do visit once. But no need to stay. Only a few hours needed to look around

A very attractive white village with a Thursday market. Cheap bus ride from Nerja. Lots of shops and restaurants, public toilets in the main area and stunning views. Hot in summer and steep steps to the miradors worth a visit but a bit of a tourist trap.

A unique place, away from the crowd but still very touristic. Very nice village to spend the day or half a day.

Charming historic streets with beautiful artisan shops and eateries. The views from the balcony are tremendous, steps are steep but we'll worth the climb!

This quaint old town charms with the building architectures and floral arrangements really exceeded our expectations. Come early before the tour crowd for the best experience and also free parking on the street.
