My boyfriend and I came to Alpena for a weekend getaway and stayed at Ramada because everything else seemed overpriced. I wish we had stayed somewhere else. Google listed this as a 3 star hotel, which seems extremely generous. I would describe the hotel as decent given the price, however I would not recommend staying here. The whole building is like a time capsule from the 70's and is in desperate need of updates. The conversation pit in the lobby is a fun feature, but unfortunately that is where the fun ends. I appreciated that our room was spacious, had a comfortable bed, and included a microwave and fridge. The carpet and seating in our room had several questionable markings and the furniture was obviously worn. By far the worst part about the room was that many of our towels had prominent stains on them. I put one of the stained towels on the floor, but housekeeping just replaced it with an equally off-putting towel. The amenities at the hotel were okay. They have a pool, hot tub, and sauna. The hot tub and sauna were not very hot, but they weren't horrible. The pool area is in the middle of a big atrium at the center of the hotel with many rooms overlooking it, which was a little strange but it seems like they had some fun activities including a little arcade, bounce house, and corn hole. On our last morning, we decided to check out the free breakfast, hoping it would be the hotel's saving grace. Sadly, it was the most depressing spread I have ever seen. There were 2 hot options, a bag of wonderbread, a couple of yogurt cups, and cornflakes. To drink there was (bad) coffee, juice boxes, and a gallon of milk. The vibe of the dining room was one of defeat. I have never seen so many sullen and joyless faces at breakfast. At the least the French toast was good. The best part about the hotel was the friendly receptionist and the Paul Mitchell body lotion. Overall, the hotel is only as good as your sense of humor. Luckily ours is pretty good.

The toilet will maybe flush after 3 or 4 tries We asked for 2 Queen beds upon making our reservation and I don't even know what size these are...maybe a double at best. Roughly 1ft wider than a twin. Your room is either freezing or hot and humid. And the kicker...their hot tub absolutely fried and bleached my hair. They did not have our full reservation...they handed me 3 different papers with 3 different prices and I had to argue each one, even after showing our confirmation email, before we were given the correct price. This was not the fault of the worker that was helping us either. She helped as best as she could. We also blocked out several rooms and we are scattered everywhere after making reservations weeks in advance. I will say, the staff is very nice. I'm hoping tomorrow the GM will reach-out as promised.

Everything was terrible the floors all over this hotel plus the rooms have a bunch of nasty stains. We had to switch rooms three times in every room was disgusting. There is mold lining the tub behind the toilet. The bathroom countertops are just gusting, dirty we had to takeoff all the sheets And put her own sheets. We brought from our house onto their bed because we found a few stains that look nasty. Their pool area was also dirty. Their big pool was super cold. You couldn’t get into it and it looked nasty like they haven’t cleaned it their hot tub was Dirty really foggy in the hot tub. The people here are really nice. There is nasty stuff on the ceiling in the bathroom and outside of the room. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel.

We had rented out 7 rooms for the weekend for my daughters birthday party. The main room we were going to have a party in was room 136. We had paid for the room for 2 nights in advance. After the first night, my kids woke up covered in bites. After further inspection, the pull out bed/couch was absolutely covered in bed bugs. We informed the front desk immediately. They came and bagged up all of out belongings and washed everything and moved us to a different room which we still paid for. We have been calling over and over and over to speak to the manager regarding our refund for the second night that we never even stayed in room 136 and they have yet to return our call and issue our money back that we paid for in advance. We didn't stay in the bug bed infested room the 2nd night, so we are fully entitled to our money back. Not to mention, the entire staff knew about the bed bugs after we brought it to their attention and they left the sliding doors open were random people were coming and going in and our of there all day and night. We have multiple pictures and videos showing this as well, along with multiple bed bug pictures and bites on my children. The staff was cleaning the room next to it with half the lights off, no wonder why bed bugs were never found. This is absolutely ridiculous and sooner or later, the entire place will be bed bug infested with the way they were just letting people run in and out of there with no sort of protection or warning. Absolutely disgusting.

This hotel was awful. The rooms were seriously outdated and the carpet felt damp to walk on. The ceilings were popcorn ceilings and clearly had stains on them. The bathroom sink and tub were moldy and there was hardly any water pressure from the shower. The sinks were too low for our height (5’6” and 5’10”). The toilet was also not flushing unless the handle was held down. Even the towels smelled like mildew. It was overall just a gross room. Our room was located poolside, but was very noisy at night to sleep because of how thin the patio doors were. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, but noticed stains on the sheets that we didn’t notice until the next morning. The air conditioning did not allow a temperature adjustment to our liking, and we were both uncomfortably warm trying to sleep at night. Additionally, while packing up the car, someone from the hotel approached my significant other and asked if we were checking out, knowing which room we were staying without asking (he was not with me at check-in). It was very unsettling and made us both uncomfortable. It is a cute area but not a lot to do on the weekend. Most places were closed the Sunday we were there. If we are ever go back through this area, we would definitely not stay here again.

This hotel got a ton of 1 star reviews so I was pretty anxious checking in. I want to address a lot of the claims: AC works well. It's not the normal system but my room was always comfortable and I am very sensitive to being warm at night. Rooms were clean and not falling apart. TV is small. The mattress was firm but no poking coils. I prefer firm and slept well. There is a smell in the hallway that comes from the pool. The smell was not noticeable from the room, although some rooms were directly off the pool and might be different. Towels were fine and not threadbare. It's a motel not a 5-star Hilton resort.

Rooms were good building was good. Would of been a great stay but pool had no heat the whole 4 nights we stayed there. We made an 4 hour trip and Noone even told us the pool was cold before we got there or even when checking in. It was put your feet it and we'll might have just jumped in the Huron. Tell the front desk they say yeah we been trying to fix it. No remorse about not telling people it wasn't working

Very out dated, windows were full of spider webs and very dirty. Stained ceilings and sheets. Funny smell in the hall ways. Nice pool area but very out dated as well. Continental Breakfast was terrible. It starts at 6:30 and we were there at 9:15, eggs were not replenished and what was there were all dried out and turning colors, waffles were cold, yogurt was left out not refrigerated so was warm to the touch. No one around keeping it filled or clean. The front desk man was very nice. But when we checked out the next morning the front desk girl came out from the back with most of her chest spilling out of her shirt and not very friendly at all. Price was good but I suppose you do get what you pay for. Never again though!

The room was decent and clean. The kids loved the pool & arcade. Two things turned me off a bit. One being lack of service on quarter machines in the arcade. Quarters are an antiquated way of playing games in 2023 and if an arcade uses those machines, they should be stocked with quarters. Secondly, the man serving breakfast was quite weird and rude. A buffet style breakfast like 90% of modern hotels would of been alot better. All in all would stay again, just service could of been quite a bit better. Thanks to the bartender for getting quarters for my kids by the way. Highly appreciated!

The hotel was clean, friendly, great breakfast, it had a pool and fitness area and game room. The best part was the assistant manager Trista who was very helpful to me. I had booked an extra night with hotels.com and was trying to cancel it and she went out of her way to try to help me in contact them. I would recommend staying here and I would come here again for sure

My family and I stayed here for a little over a month due to a house fire . Everyone is very accommodating. Teresa is great at housekeeping and very attentive when needed. Shelly is the breakfast cook and went above and beyond for my children and my family. it's clean and pet friendly I'm grateful for all the staff of Ramada of Alpena Michigan.

It was after 3:00 pm when I wanted to check in. I asked for a ground floor they said I couldn't have one unless I wanted to wait 3 hours. I was tired I wanted to get something to eat and rest. I find my floor not vacuumed. I find dust all over the place. It was a very dirty room and worn down for the price I had to pay. I also had to put $150 security deposit on the room in case I broke something. Upon checking out I had to wait for somebody to go to the room and check it to see if I broke anything but you took another 10 minutes which I wanted to be on the road. I didn't get charged for some others people's mishaps. Oh and here and there there was black mold . The vents were Dusty. Items in the bathroom where I could with drywall screws. The toilet kept on tilting. The toilet seat on sliding. When I showed the woman at the front desk upon checking out. I showed her some stuff I picked up off the floor she grabbed it from me and took off to find the housekeeper I guess. The first floor carpeting walking out of the elevator was all rippled It's going to stretch out further and somebody's going to trip over it. I couldn't close my curtains to make my room dark and I had parking lot lights shining in my room all night long. I was desperate and I didn't want to pay a high price for a little tiny tourist motel. Which I should have. Ramada Inn and Wyman motels/hotels ought to be ashamed of themselves for having a Despicable place. I do not recommend this place to anyone. The only courtesy I got was from the woman in the lobby washing the floor.

Affordable for sure. Could use some updating for sure. Rooms were clean. The (indoor) Pool space is literally HUGE. They also have poolside. Balcony rooms. Would be an AWESOME place for hosting a birthday party or any family event! Breakfast and the bar area was disappointing, but there are plenty of restaurants super close by.

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews the rooms were a bit outdated sure, but over all clean and comfy. The bar attached I wouldn’t recommend. The arcade is fun and the gentleman at the front desk was super nice and gave me extra stuff when I asked, the pool area is nice. Overall the hotel is great.

I'm not sure why there are so many 1 star reviews. We had a very good experience. The front desk associates Ashley and Kyle were super nice, helpful and fun! The room was a basic hotel room, very clean, beds were comfortable. Had a large awesome entertainment room with all kinds of activities and a nice pool. Will definitely be back.

Rooms were good, nice big tv. The pool and arcades were Awesome!!! Great spot for kids to play, everything was inside- pool, hot tub, small playground set up, lots ( 25-30) of really good arcade games, even a some small golf put puts. Pool area had nice floor to drain water and reduce slip n falls on wet tiles too. Full breakfast. Was much more than we expected here.

Not a great place to stay. We got a pet friendly room and essentially your room is not really in the main hotel. Also, there is an additional fee for having a pet with you as well. The place was loud. And rooms are very outdated. The pool is nice and big lots of seating around the pool. Has a decent breakfast.

The good: Price was good, the kids loved the pool and arcade. The restaurant was pretty good and the staff was super friendly. Room was plenty big for my wife and I with our 2 kids 10 and 7. The bad: the bed was rock hard. A lot of the arcade games just took your money with no return, probably had that happen on 5 different machines. Overall though, we would stay again

Got a 1 star it would of been a negative 5 star but not an option. Staying May 6 and May 7. This motel is soo dirty and disgusting. I truly did not want to put my feet on the floor is was so dirty. There was a black hair in the sink I have long blonde hair my hubby had a short military cut not our hair. There is at least an inch if not more of dirt and whatever around all the walls the door jams just terrible. You have employees out in the party lot parting, smoking who knows what then going in and out to do their “job” we will NEVER EVER be back and we will for sure be telling people we know to not stay here. Alpena is better than this. Step up

Door Dashed an order their. They are very polite at front desk. Seems clean and has many rooms including ones that have sliding doors that go directly to pool area. Sauna, workout gym, arcade,This place has so much to do right on site, great location

Hot water in shower was broke. Cold showers only. $178 a night far to expensive for the old hotel. Pool area nice, but they kicked us out at 10am on a Saturday night from using the game room (by the pool). Very odd. Staff was great. Just need to update a few restrictions, do a better job keeping rooms functioning and all would be well.

I took my family here for a little get away and let me tell you everything was amazing. The room, the staff, all the activities. We will definitely be staying again. The kiddos enjoyed putt-putt golf, swimming, all of the arcade games. Thank you Ramada for a wonderful time!!

We really enjoyed staying here. The hotel staff was really nice and very helpful. The price was really good also. Downside was that when we can hear for the continental breakfast they do not have much to choose from. I don't know that's because they were all out or that's because that's all they had. How are I'm not complaining because it was a very nice establishment and for the price I have no complaints. 👍😎

Room was pretty clean. Air conditioning worked well. Staff was nice on check-in. Outlets and bathroom fixtures were all in good working order. I saw some negative reviews on here but I guess I didn't have that experience. It's not the Ritz Carlton but it seemed pretty decent to me.

  • 2/5 Michelle W. 2 years ago on Google
Dirty and the vending machine was completely out of water. The ice machine was broken or empty, idk what? We paid for a king size room and they gave us two queens. The phone in the room didn't even work. Weird. Oh and you should know there's no taxis there except one and he stopped at 7pm...so you'll be walking 2 miles or something to the fun stuff from your hotel.

We didn't love the place but it wasn't awful. The pool was fun for kids, they do have activities for everyone to do and an arcade and all that fun stuff. The free breakfast was not the best but it's a hotel, we weren't expecting anything spectacular. The staff was nice, the room was pretty clean although the bathroom needed a little work and the location isn't too bad either. They messed the rooms up, but did end up accommodating us so that's good.

Old hotel that is past due for updating. The dome where the pool is located is super kid friendly with bounce house, putt putt golf, arcade, ping pong, billiards, pool, hot tub etc etc..... the new Barcade is pretty sweet for the adults as well. The bar is mice and convenient and now that it closes at 11:00pm it stays quiet without all the drama. Front desk/check in staff are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure your stay is as great ad possible. Good place for the family if you don't require 5 star accommodations.

The room was clean, plenty of towels, cups and coffee for the coffee maker. Water pressure was kind of low, but we were on the second floor so that may have been why. Our room was poolside, which was awesome. And the pool, FANTASTIC! Very clean area, well maintained even with staffing issues, the hot breakfast was exactly that and the staff was helpful and professional. Definitely will go back
