Overall a decent hotel if you can get a good price. It’s a bit sub-par for mainline Marriott. Pros: - excellent location. - house cleaning staff did an excellent job. - beautiful and clean lobby. - fast elevators. Cons: - Service could have been better when checking in. Was told some things about breakfast and temporary lounge that weren’t true. - Internet is slow at times. - The TV malfunctions and crashes a lot. - The sound insulation from the window door is weird. Actually the door wouldn’t stay completely closed so you could hear outside sounds. - Lots of spiderwebs across the whole window, and huge spiders came out like clockwork every sunset, putting a dent on the otherwise good view. Some of the spiders made it inside a few times. This plus very dirty windows made the room feel a bit neglected. - The room had nice updates inside, but parts of it still felt a little old.

Great location. Nice atmosphere and rooms seemed very clean. However, the hotel has only heat or only AC depending on the time of year. So in the fall if your room is very warm there is no way to cool it off. I bet you're saying no big deal. I would have as well until my room hit 87 degrees and there was no way to cool it off. I had to leave the room door open for about an hour to get cooler air in. The lowest the temp got was 78 degrees. If they can fix that then it's a great place. But that definitely cost it a star in the rating. Finally, when checking out I hear another person complaining about the same thing.

What a terrible experience. Very disappointing, being a gold Bonvoy member, and having paid for 2 nights with breakfast package… on first morning, around 9 am we called front desk to understand if we could check out since we wanted to comeback home earlier (this was the end of a longer trip). Front desk said we could but still I would have to pay for two nights with breakfast. We said, OK understood but does not make much sense since we stayed actually less than 12 hrs. Surprise for us that we got checked out by the hotel. Then we going for breakfast, they mentioned we could not get our breakfast vouchers because we were checked out. After 45 min we got OK to have breakfast, and when arriving to restaurant, it was already closed because it was passed 11 am. A very rude hostess, said that we should have arrived earlier and that breakfast was included for 2, which we clarified, yes, but we are paying for 2 breakfasts on two days. So, with no food, we went back to the front desk and asked for the manager. Who showed up without even saying good morning and asked me, “ so exactly what are you trying to get out of this conversation?” Which of course triggered me to say, first of all, you need to learn how to listen to your customers, then you should accept all this confusion was because of the hotel fault. We left immediately with clear decision of never coming back. Too bad for Marriott to have this type of staff and lack of context for applying policies and rules.

I’ll have to say this was my first time in Chicago and I enjoyed it! Rooms were nice and the view was really nice from my room. However the bathroom and shower could use more cleaning, corners needed to be cleaned and the floor of the shower was brown not sure if stained over time but I’m sure bleach can help with that… staff were nice however destination fee was kind of annoying but the food at the snack bar was actually really good and the bar was packed with people in the evenings so good socialization - the crazy price for parking was ridiculous however as it was in the core it’s understandable… overall great hotel I would stay again but some things to keep in mind.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful! The views are amazing, especially at night time. I recommend going to a higher floor as you will get a better view of the city. The hotel is very clean. All of the workers are extremely helpful and courteous. The bar area is open late for a late night drink or just to relax. The hotel is also close to just about everything you want to do from eating or shopping or just exploring the city. Uber rides from the hotel to other local attractions were all under $15 to get there. If you’re looking for a hotel that is somewhat upscale, close to venues, and provides a beautiful view, this would be the hotel for you. The hotel is also reasonably priced in comparison to other hotels in the area as well.

Overall 2 stars. The only good thing is the location very central in river north. Most attractions are walkable distance or few stops away. However, what makes it worst experience is the value is not worth for such a small room, the poor service , and the hidden fees. Firstly the room is small and was slanted on the edge. Definitely not worth $230/night but clean so acceptable. The heater takes forever to come on and the TV was in and out. I had to change my room for that. Absolute no amenities in the hotel. No spa or swimming pool. Again makes it not worth the value. No room service whatsoever for food. This is the worst part of the stay for the hidden charge. There is $25 “destination fee” is just a way to charge extra almost felt like a scam. The receptionist made it sound like is already included in the total charge of the hotel we already paid on our card, but no at the end I got a bill of $99 for charging $25/night destination fee. Not only that they even charge one of my meals there without crediting the $25 destination fee. If I did not ask for the bill after I saw the charge, I would’ve missed this overcharge. Marriott wants to charge even for the wifi in the room for $15/day🙃😅 essentially everything they want to charge. Really, personally have not seen such fees in most of the world. The world of capitalization has consumers constantly need to take precautions to avoid such hidden fees. Overall just not great experience. Anyhow, will not be staying at a Marriott hotel in the future with such fees.

If I could give them a zero star rating, I would. We visited in May of 2022 and unfortunately my daughter tested positive for Covid after 1 night of our 3 night stay. We didn't want to expose anyone at the hotel so we elected to check out early. We explained our situation to the front desk and they agreed to give us a refund for the two unused nights. We never received that refund and after fighting with Marriott customer service for 4 months we still don't have a resolution. Looking like we never will. Pretty disgusting that a company as big as Marriott can't even provide a refund or credit when their customers do the right thing to protect the public and their staff.

Me and my boyfriend came here to celebrate my birthday weekend and we really loved this hotel. The room was nice, clean and cozy with a nice view of the city (which was really beautiful at night). Our reservation came with "Breakfast for 2" and it was honestly the best breakfast I've ever had at a hotel. The only negative is the price for parking but that's expected in downtown Chicago. Definitely would recommend this hotel

I usually give businesses grace and don’t post reviews like this but it was my wedding weekend. They were an affordable option for my guests at the time. We asked the weekend of if we could have an early check in for our suite since we couldn’t check in until 4pm which was out of the ordinary in my opinion. They said no and we asked if there’s anything they could do to get an earlier check in. Instead of the usual no we’re sorry, we got “not unless you want us to help the maids clean the room ourselves.” LMAO. We also bought out the patio for our first look and signed paperwork beforehand for an hour on our wedding day. The day of, what do you know. It’s not in their records. This was handled but the disorganization and miscommunication with their staff is very apparent. It was handled because I was the one that remembered to check in with them the morning of to see if the patio was ready. If I didn’t - well you can imagine the disarray. A headache to take on something that could’ve gone wrong on our wedding day. Suite was fine. No perks for getting hotel blocks from our guests but a bottle of champagne and rude attitude. Skip it.

The best hotel I stayed in Chicago, its location is unbeatable and you can ask for free water as much as you need. Great bar and Starbucks right in its lobby. The staff are all friendly especially the staff taking care of our luggage, helping us finding our luggage even though we accidentally lose the ticket for it. 5 stars out of 5!

This hotel is great in many ways especially the staff and their hospitality/care. The location is perfect for experiences the heart of Chicago. We enjoyed the lobby area a couple of times, it is spacious and welcoming, the bar has great service and drinks. We purchased multiple coffees at the market and received impeccable service. I am not sure how a hotel this busy stays so clean and provides such professional service. This was by far one of our favorite Marriott experiences.

Beware the ‘destination fee’ of $25 per day that you get back if you spend it on snacks at their shop/restaurant/bar. I’m usually pretty keen to notice these fees before booking but didn’t notice this one. What a nice surprise after a day of traveling. Room was good and housekeeping was friendly. A little loud, but that is a hotel in the city. Location is close to a lot of things and the metro isn’t too far. A good stay, but the destination fee left an unexpected sour taste in my mouth.

Mixed experience. Checking in was bad. They made it better the next day. Room was decent. Beds were fine but maybe a little small. The room was a little small like you'd expect in a city like Chicago. I like that the doors are staggered so you don't have another room door directly across the hall. The elevators are nice and quick. Got the run around when I tried to check in for a reservation booked 2 months in advance for a conference. They didn't have a room for the first night of a 3-night stay so they sent me and others to the Sheraton 0.4 miles away on North Water Ave at 11:00 pm at night. The girl at the desk first said they were overbooked and that I should have seen the line of people checking in earlier. Then she said something about rooms having water damage but when I asked her to explain she said she didn't know and to check with her manager. The manager came up to the desk, handed her something and tried to hurry away without talking to me and I had to stop her to ask what was going on. I asked her if it was a water damage issue affecting rooms and she seemed to say it was but she didn't explain it clearly and didn't speak loud enough for me to hear her very well and I got the feeling that they were just overbooked that night and making up excuses. It wasn't clear if I would be able to stay at this hotel the next day or not. I had to leave my luggage with the door man when I returned the next morning, still unsure where I'd be staying that night. It was pretty inconvenient but the worst part was not getting a clear answer about what happened from the girl at the desk and her manager. They probably just need to work on better communication so guests aren't confused and feeling like they can't trust them like I did. They did cover the room at Sheraton and gave me $20 for a cab to get there and back. Thankfully I was able to check in around 10:30 am to a room at this hotel that next day for the remaining 2 nights. The lady at the desk was very kind and took my number and called as soon as they had a room available.

For the cost, not worth it. Came for a conference for work, which was very expensive. The room was dirty, dried orange liquid splashed on the wall near the door, what looked like splatter from the toilet on the shower door, and short dark hairs on the bathroom wall, in the sink, on the shower wall. And a dirty boot print on the white bedding. Service was very pleasant, very attentive, very helpful. Food was overpriced and not edible. Good thing there are many excellent restaurants in walking distance. Overall, the service is what I expect from a Marriott, but the cleanliness reminded me of a hourly roadside motel.

Great location. Room was nice. Lobby and all was nice BUT food was lacking… literally.. nothing to eat in a large hotel. They have a pantry w sandwiches. A partial sandwich type breakfast and really no dinner. Bar have wings and a few items. Starving inside - I had to leave the hotel for a decent ‘complete’ meal. I was Not amused!! Anyway. Marriott need to get it together.. oh and the club level food was trinkets that were awful.

The staff was incredibly nice and helpful throughout the stay. Food was great at the buffets for the conference I attended. Plus the views from the room are amazing. The main reason for the 3/5 stars is the cleanliness of the rooms was terrible. The bathroom had hair all over the toilet and sink, and when I asked cleaning service to come back they didn't do anything once they had checked back in the room.

My room and my neighboring room were visibly dusty. There were stains on the carpet. The pillowcases weren't totally neat either: one had hairs, another one was stained. The bed sheets also felt somewhat dusty. The bed itself was however quite nice: I slept really well, despite frequently hearing the sirens of different emergency vehicles pass by in the night (the hotel is near a hospital, I was told). You can still hear the sirens over 20 floors above ground, if you were wondering. They seem to have been having personnel shortage due to COVID. Sometimes the elevators weren't going up at call late at night. The hotel overall looks beautiful inside. It has a lot of potential.

I know my review will probably get lost as this place has so many stellar reviews but, the staff at the front desk are rude! Not all of them but there were a couple that I was floored by considering what it costs to even stay here. The nicest members of the staff were the bell man (awesome bell man!), housekeeping and the ladies at the pantry market. I think it says a lot about a place, and the world in general if I’m honest, that the people who earn more, are the rude ones. The views from my room were fantastic. The room itself is a bit dated but smelled good and looked clean. Do not order room service I paid like $12 for a breakfast skillet…it was the size of my fist.

Had a wonderful stay a few weeks ago. Started off great with Jim helping us with car and bags. The initial room I was given was not what I booked, but Jennifer went out of her way to make it a great experience! Flin and Tre followed up when Jennifer was out. Rooms were clean and lobby is beautiful. Location was perfect!! Overall the staff went above and beyond!

Nice place to stay as long as you don’t valet with them. Room was nice view was lovely, but completely backed up when it comes down to service. Do not valet here $70 to wait two hours to get our car. I’d like my $70 back wish I parked myself. Paid for convenience and this ended up being a huge inconvenience.

Location of this hotel is wonderful and I like the atmosphere in the lobby and bar area. Also they have a bakery/coffee shop conveniently located in the lobby, which I really appreciate. Room is ok, view from the window is nice.

Recently had a terrible experience with this property. My wife cancelled our reservation and moved to another marriott property. The continue to return calls and refund their silly cancellation fee. We've been so surprised by this properties unwillingness to understand our point of view and will never stay here again. Too many great options in Chicago and life is too short to stay at a place like this.

the GPS takes you to the entrance on Magnificent Mile and there is no parking or valet there. It's on the opposite side of the building which we didn't know. Nevertheless we figured it out after calling. There should be some signage. The valet staff was a bit unorganized and our bellman had to call them over at least 2x . Front desk staff was pleasant. Rooms were clean. I'm in love with the pillows 😍 Room service was prompt. They still serve in to go containers with plastic utensils which is fine by me. I would definitely return, definitely a 5 star experience

Beds are extremely comfortable in a room that EMPHASIZES ROOM in a convenient location to Magnificent Mile shopping! Our waitress, Jess, was beyond friendly and her service was impeccable! I must say I was truly sad after taking the LAST bite of my steak & fries dinner just as the last few ticks of Thursday Night Football expired on the many screens in Reviver!!!

Bring an Air conditioner. No one has ever complained about the hotel being too cold. It’s very hard to get a good night sleep when your room stays above 80 degrees.

So we stayed here for a medical conference, and we really loved Chicago. We felt that the hotel staff were nice, but the food service staff were a little slow. Also the food catering quality wasn’t as good as we’d hoped. The general areas are beautiful, and well appointed. Our room was fine for the price, although we were missing towels and soaps, but the staff did get these items to us after a relatively short wait. The bed comfort was ok. Our room was adjacent to the elevators, and it did sound like a small train was driving by our room every 30 seconds, which wasn’t a good thing. The convention space was awesome, and our convention spanned three floors. The hotel location was wonderful, nearby to many amazing restaurants and bars, and not far from the navy pier either. Overall for the price we aren’t upset, just don’t expect too much. Oh, and I forgot to mention that our view from the 35th floor was amazing, we loved it.

Security needs improvement. In lobby bar for which we thought was safe, homeless looking guy came in came to may table panhandling and stole wallet in deception . Hotel very helpful and grateful as I had to get on a flight but come on. You know Chicago is now ridden w crime and two security guards around Christmas just isn’t enough . If you think it’s a public place then don’t pretend it’s a fancy hotel

This hotel looks great from the outside and lobby but there’s honestly nothing spectacular about the rooms. Great views though! Just a regular Marriott. Food is okay as well.

  • 1/5 Taylor T. 6 months ago on Google
Our recent stay at the Marriott was nothing short of a nightmare. We had to change rooms twice due to issues with dirty bathrooms and showers, as well as the non-functional toilets. While the building service workers were helpful and friendly, the front desk staff and receptionist staff has been shockingly rude and unhelpful, displaying a lack of commitment to their guests satisfaction. Adding to our frustration, an incidental fee was charged without any explanation or incidents during our stay. We were looking for a nice hotel with a great downtown location for our visit to Chicago for the weekend, and this has ended up being a nightmare to deal with even weeks later. The overall experience was so disappointing that it fell below the standards one might expect even at a Super 8 motel. I strongly discourage anyone from booking a stay at this hotel. Save yourself the disappointment and explore alternative accommodations that prioritize a positive guest experience.

Absolutely loved the location!! Very easy access to shops, restaurants and public transportation..staff was really nice too and by far the hotel had the best pantry/restaurant and bar!! So convenient so those colder months stays. Very spacious rooms too!!

I am a travel agent and would like to express my experience at this lovely establishment. As far as the hotels location it’s in the perfect spot, easy access to any shopping, food areas, and in all walking distance. The only flaws I had with this hotel was the following: the hotel lobby restroom was not cleaned as it should have been. It’s has a awful smell all the time and the water took foreverrrr to warm up. I placed an object in the garbage can in the center bathroom stall just to see if the bathroom was being cleaned frequently. The object stayed in the full garbage can up to two days. I would also like to complain about the food and prices. I felt that if they didn’t have all the accommodations needed to serve dinner, the food should’ve been half price. Menu prices 15.00 for a burger with no buns. Which to me that is a necessity for almost every food on the menu. As for the staff, friendliness could’ve been a little bit better but overall it was pleasant. The hotel requirements are mask 😷 at all time in the lobby. Now that part I loved 🥰 which gave extra points in my book. I had an issue the last day of my stay I requested my room to be clean at noon once returned, my room was still not cleaned. I requested for fresh towels the same day/night. No assistance I never received them. The tissue holder in our room always kept falling, so it became rritating to where we just took the tissue off the roller and sat it on the shower door rail. My room number was 3016 which had a decent view. Also upon arrival, I was not explained nor inform that the hotel had a cab line to assist you from the hotel to the airport or any other location. So, basically my overall experience I will give this hotel seven stars. But definitely will informing my clients of my stay.

Update: We stayed September 3-6 and put a credit card on file for accidentals. The pending charge came off about 3-4 days after our stay. It is currently September 24th and my credit card is being charged $224. I attempted to call and could not be given an answer as to why my credit card was charged 20 days after my stay. Great hotel! The lobby has a bar and Cafe. It's busy no matter the time of day. We got a great room with a great view. Staff was friendly and courteous. Rooms were clean and modern. Great place to stay. Near a ton of different places to eat and everything is nearby and within walking distance.

Don't forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ when booking your place. This web site will compare countless booking websites and usually will have prices a lot cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! This resort is the best rated in this area. I have been staying here for years. If you decide to stay here you definitely won't be let down. Lovely lobby, very busy but efficient check in. Great views from room. Room clean and we'll appointed. Good location down town.

Great location, views & good price. The lobby areal looks nice n fresh but that is where it stops. Carpet in the rooms & hallways looks old and tire. Rooms do not at big the pictures at all. I think last time they renovated them was over 15 years ago and it shows, cracks in the walls, caulk & grout cracking in the bathrooms, towels fell like sand paper, small closets, dirty windows, horrible pillows (bring your own). One big drawback is that this place it’s used as a party hotel so be ready for noisy neighbors if u are staying here in a weekend. Friendly staff

  • 2/5 Anna J. 2 years ago on Google
I found it very disappointing, that they charge you additional fees on every step. I never had to pay those fees in any other Marriott hotels. When you go to a chain restaurant, you don’t expect a different menu, right? By the time you check out and pay all of those fees, you realized that you might have stayed in a much better hotel and get a better deal out of it. Probably won’t trust Marriott again.

  • 5/5 Scott B. 2 years ago on Google
Clean, well maintained, up-to-date and a very friendly staff. My hotel room was excellent. Furnishings looked brand new! Did this place recently renovate because it looks brand new! The housekeeping staff definitely pays attention to detail and it shows. I would stay here again and recommend to anyone! Congratulations to the management and staff on providing such a great place away from home!

Remember to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ when booking any hotel. They compare thousands of hotel sites and normally will have rates a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This place is one of the best in the area. I've been staying here for a long time. If you stay for a few nights you definitely will love it I'm sure! We had a great stay. Great food, great views. I left me watch on check out and they gladly sent it to me a few days later. The biggest reason was the location is right in the heart of it all...and yet, if you didn't feel like venturing out, the hotel had everything you needed.

Unfortunately, this was not the stay I was hoping for and expected. I only stay at Marriott’s typically due to the quality and level of service. My husband, baby and I unfortunately were up all night due to the temperature in our room. I checked the thermostat at one point, it was set on 70 and the room was 81 degrees. We turned it way down but it did not cool down. We were eventually forced to open the balcony door to allow for some air to be let in. That led to an even noisier night, and the hotel was not quiet to begin with. My 1 year old couldn’t sleep and neither could we. Furthermore, when I checked out they didn’t even ask me how my stay was. Also we waited and waited for valet parking and no one came. There were also no carts. We had to park in the garage and carry everything from across the street at parking garage into hotel. The room was ok, it was clean so I appreciated that. The view was nice.

Had a really nice stay here. Rooms were clean and well appointed - shout out to housekeeping on their prompt, friendly, and thorough service. Staff overall was very friendly and accommodating. Club lounge was really nice and the breakfast staff at the restaurant were excellent. Food was also great at the breakfast restaurant. I usually like to stay in Luxury brands, but this hotel provided a terrific experience. My sincerest thanks to the staff and management of this property!

So to be fair, I just checked in today and am stuck here for the next three nights. First, their is really no options for food mid day except for their lobby store. No restaurant serves lunch, only breakfast and dinner. So if you want lunch, you’re out of luck. Second, my room won’t get warm. It says 65 on the thermostat but it feels much colder. The furnace just will not turn on. So I called the front desk and was told that the heater/furnace is shut off for the entire hotel and they’re only circulating fresh air. No heat in the building at all. When I asked for a space heater I was told there’s a wait list for them and I likely wouldn’t get one. So, I’m staying at a Marriott hotel where they’ve turned off the heat when it’s 52 degrees outside and they are just letting it get cold inside. This room is absolutely chilled and very uncomfortable. I was offered extra blankets. LOL. This is the last straw for Marriott. I recommend any other hotel. This sucks.

I thought the Marriott was going to be high end and exceptional but it definitely was not!! My friends and I stayed here for a night over the weekend our beds were extra small our room wasn’t the cleanest and the light in our bathroom would only turn on if we banged on the wall… did I mention our toilet paper holder was broken? when we tried to tell the receptionist Earl he was very rude he was rude when we checked in and rude checked out. I will never be staying at this location again and as for Earl if you do not like your job I recommend quitting.

Paying for a weekend stay, at a fairly reasonable price, 650 Canadian for two nights with a beautiful view. The staff was really nice, they had plenty of options for food and drinks. The bars really nice and the hotel is located extremely close to all the action of the city. We walked everywhere. The bean is a 15 minutes walk. The bars are right there. It was a good time.

We were at the Marriott for a conference and were regulars downstairs in between sessions and in the evening. Jessica was amazing. We were there for 5 days and she took care of us 4 out of 5 days. She was jovial, welcoming, professional, friendly, and helpful. She gave us dinner suggestions, gave us the local spots, and made sure we were taken care of during our stay. Definitely went above and beyond any other employee while we were there and felt like we were colleagues rather than she had to be doing a job. Can't wait to go back!

Very pleased with our stay. Stayed two night for a conference in town. The room was nice and stocked well. The bed was very comfortable. Location is good for what we needed. I like that it was far enough away from the river that we didn't wait long at eateries nearby. I would definitely use this hotel again.

Good hotel, very loud. The facilities themselves are immaculate - updated, modern, and comfortable. Great in-room service, hotel bar/restaurant is lovely and well priced, and the location cannot be beat. The walls of the rooms, though, are paper-thin - you will hear every conversation from your neighbor like they're in your room itself. Lots of hallway noise as well, well into the night. Definitely a great stay if you're not planning to do any work in your room, but not really a place to relax or be productive for any period of time - the noise means this is a sleep-and-get-out sort of place.

I attended a conference here this past weekend that I have attended for many years. Year in and year out, the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile has been a vital part of this meeting. The meeting has been in a different location only once in the time that I have been associated with it, and it simply wasn't the same. The rooms are good. I stayed in a room with a single king bed overlooking Michigan Avenue, and it was a wonderful view. The staff is courteous and professional, the ground floor bar/restaurant is very nice, and the food is generally good. Probably the only knock I have is that the bar fare is a bit overpriced, but these days, what isn't?

I was hesitant about booking the hotel based off the mixed reviews- but this hotel was wonderful! First off, everytime I had to go to the front desk each person was SO accommodating and kind. The rooms weren’t huge but so clean and had a bunch of towels, great shampoo, etc. housekeeping visited our room and cleaned it EVERY single day which was great. We were 15-20 minute walk from everything. It was a great stay, and my family enjoyed it.
