Came here because this place was recommended a lot. The curry is quite good, but the freshly made passion fruit juice is absolutely fantastic, it has a great taste. Place is pretty big and they also have a garden area. They also sell a lot of homemade goods like their famous chilli flakes or chilli oil. Cash and credit card (+5%)payment is possible.

Excellent! Food was the best we've had in Nicaragua so far. We had curry. They have freshly baked bread and cookies. Do yourself a favour and try it. It's not a cheap eats place but good value in my opinion.

I tried the pumpkin curry and it was very disappointing. The taste and consistency were like a bland pumpkin soup, not a curry, plus just 2 pieces of pumpkin and a few chickpeas in it. Also a huge shame they don't do half portion anymore, it would have been nice to try more curries (maybe got really unlucky with that one). The drinks were great tho. 100% recommend the maracuya juice, for 50 cordobas that's a crazy good deal.

Visited for dinner and had their curries… contemplated extending my stay on the island just so I could go back for dinner again. All farm to table, in-house. You can order half portions of the curries, which was lovely seeing as I wanted them all. Only around 4 curries were veggie, but the ones that were did not disappoint. Must go!

Definitely 5 star potential and probably one of the best places to eat on the island. Went three times for dinner and twice for breakfast. Had two curries - green thai was very authentic but too dry, then massaman curry which was also quite good. Last night I had chicken fingers which were unfortunately very greasy and just nasty. It definitely looked different from what i saw someone else eat there before. The staff is not too friendly or attentive. Most of the time I ended up having to go to the bar to get the menu, order something or pay. Breakfast is amazing here though.

Super delicious food! we had currys and sandwiches that we gor delivered to our house and it was very yummy. I loved their bread and we had a brownie and cookie for desert that was so good. Communication easy, smooth and friendly. Edit: ate at the restaurant yesterday, burger, ceviche and curry and it was delicious and the service great :)

Best rest. on the island, all homemade ad fresh cuisine, outstanding menu for this coutry, top curry, babaganush, chappati, chuttney, very oriental and int. cuisine, own product to buy. Inside a court for relaxing, just a marvelous place, easy accessible by car, scooter, bike, ATV. Absolutely reccomended.

The curries here are fantastic! They also grow almost all of the ingredients and make the curry pastes from scratch. The Lamb Rogan Josh special was the best followed by the green curry and the tikka masala. We came here 5 times in 3 days! Their smoothies are also great along with many other menu items. They make a lot of their own stuff which you can purchase, like mango chutney, Nutella and peanut butter etc. I highly recommend this place! Best curries we’ve had in Latin America.

Really awesome curry and great service. It is at the road so can be noisy if you seat outside. Didn’t like the bathroom as it is without flush. I guess for some people it is ok. You can buy the wine and some rum in the place. Overall good for lunch Or a quick bite.

Amazing food. All of their food is farm raised and grown. Handmade pasta, delicious burgers. Best meal we've had in Nicaragua. We will be back!

The food here was absolutely divine! So fresh and amazing quality. They offered food that was lighter which was great for lunch. The flat breads and hummus was fab for this area of the world! The best I’ve had. Will definitely be back. Plus it comes with complements popcorn and the chilli oil is delish

We visited the restaurant three times, each time ordering different dishes (once for lunch, twice for breakfast). You really feel the passion for cooking, we were satisfied every time. If we had been on Ometepe longer, we would have eaten even more. Everything is fresh, large portions, reasonable prices.

We spent 4 days on Ometepe island and went to Cafe Campestre 3 times. The food is a strange kind of fusion but it works perfectly. For starters it's different than your typical Nica cuisine you'll get in most places, which is nice, but more importantly there's someone in the kitchen who can REALLY cook - there's no denying that. Also it looks like they work with local produce whenever they can

Their Indian offerings are quite good. Not what you'd expect so far from an Indian community but yeah. Bhindi bhaji needs some work though it's not really what it needs to be. Desserts were great too. Really the fact they offer such a breadth of food is awesome Bathrooms are a little gross, it's a composting toilet and there are a lot of insects in and around the seat

Lovely staff and atmosphere. Food is decent , 3/5. We had pork curry and shawarma . Curry was ok , shawarma was terrible . Not a shawarma , but also the dish in itself was so bad. Pet friendly , easy parking , outdoor and indoor seating . Also space for remote work

a lot of the pictures of the menu are outdated and prices have gone wayyyy up. this place was highly recommended to us and we were very excited to go. its decently busy at night. the food is quite expensive compared to local places. its a decent portion and the food was indeed good but i probably wont be going back. we asked if a dish came with rice and pita and the server said yes, and when the food came it had no rice or pita. we had to ask for it and argue a bit and the server definitely didnt like us because of that. the cookie was a bit dry but still tasted good.

We came for dinner and breakfast - the Thai green curry was good but I thought it needed more sauce, I didn’t think it was saucy enough. The pork shoulder curry very good! The breakfasts were really good - highly recommend the breakfast wrap! Friendly and helpful waitresses and a nice spot on the road to people watch

This is a place to find local organic coffee and some delicious curries. Unfortunately the Wi-Fi was pretty slow and there were very few electrical outlets. The decor is bland and the bathroom was basically an outhouse. With a little work this place could be awesome. But we did like the currys enough to continue ordering those almost everyday to be delivered to our hotel. Definitely this is a place you'll want to check out because there are very few high quality coffee shops on this island.

What's there not to like? The food was shockingly good, so much so that my partner and I ended up going twice during our stay in Ometepe! I especially loved their hummus and green curry. It does get quite busy, especially during dinner time, and when that happens you just have to be more forward to the service people for them to notice you.

Incredibly authentic tasting Indian curries. The prices seem high initially (for Ometepe) but the quality and portion sizes are perfect. I went here three times because I was just so impressed. There are vegetarian and vegan options, and non-curry dishes also.

A great selection of food. I had the homemade bolognese and my husband the green curry chicken . Both were very pleased with our meals, my husband indicated his dish was the best meal we’ve had since being in Nicaragua. Excellent evening garden ambience as well. We were given this restaurant recommendation from another restaurant owner in San Juan Del Sur that also served great dishes so we figured we couldn’t go wrong. We were not disappointed!

PLASTIC DOESNT BELONG IN FOOD. (Update to owner response: yes, she removed the ice coffee from our ticket once we brought her a plate of plastic we pulled from it. She didn’t try to apologize, only had two employees say “it happens sometimes”) ORIGINAL REVIEW: I really hate writing bad reviews, but the way the employees were so dismissive of this much plastic being blended in their drinks is so telling. We never received an apology only TWICE hearing “it happens. It’s from the ice bag” IT SHOULDNT HAPPEN. this shouldn’t be normalized or dismissed. Their food is good but it makes me sick thinking about how much plastic people consume there with these kind of practices. What else do they dismiss? I really hope the owner see this, take care and ensure that this DOESNT HAPPEN ANYMORE.

Super delicious!! My partner had curry and I had a chicken sandwich. Our lemonades were refreshing and cold. Exactly what we needed on a hot day! We bought some homemade Nutella to take home. Definitely recommend eating here!

Excellent service and food. I had one of their Tandoori ChickenSandwich, and the portion was so generous I don’t know if i’ll need a second meal today. My girlfriend had pesto pasta, she thought that there was to liquid, however, it was just ok pasta. Only downside (or is it??) - that streetdoog mightwander and enter the place, but stuff triesto keet them away. Have a look, friendly staff 😉

Incredible Indian food, the spices they use - wow! And even not expensive. I loved the Aloo Paratha and the sweet pumpkin dessert. Best food in town or maybe even on the Island :)

Most incredible place for food in Ometepe (and maybe Nicaragua) We stopped by chance one afternoon to have a coffee and we fell in love with their peanut butter cookies. We came back the next day to have lunch and it was exquisite! The waitress is really kind. Full of vegetarian options! Good drinks! We think they make the food with their own farm products. They also sell their hand-made peanut butter and nutella! 100% recommended

Best food on the island by far. Every time we leave with a happy smile! Its fresh and tasty doesnt matter what dish you pick. Dont skip this place if you love good food

Delicious Jamaica, yumm. Really decent, tasty (if not at all spicy) veg curry. The aloo paratha was delicious! The iced coffee chilled me. The place is stunning, designed for relaxed enjoyment. I'm definitely going back. My wife said her curry was bland. We would like the option of hot or mild.

What a great find in Ometepe! We were in Balgue for 4 days and ate here at least once per day and impressed every time. The flat bread shawarma was a big serving. The flour tortillas with the chicken fajitas were the best I've ever had anywhere. The smoothies were fantastic (had the cafe helado and the funky monkey)! The pesto on the veggie burrito was really good and it was filled with fresh vegetables. Service was great and always with a smile!

I love the Indian dishes here at Cafe Compestre, some of the best food in Nicaragua! The staff is always friendly and welcoming. A must when visiting the beautiful Island of Omotepe and looking for a great meal.

We haven’t really been impressed by the food in Central America until we came here! The Green Chicken Curry was simply the best curry we’ve ever had, period! My partner was left speechless, haha. I had the passion fruit juice which was delicious and finally a juice not full of sugar. My partner had a really nice smoothie that also was just FRUIT. We’d recommend this place to anyone. The food is delicious and fairly priced. Hopefully we’ll find our way back to this place again.

Delicious food, not many 'local dishes' but a lot of the ingredients are local and handmade. It's one of the few restaurants open late in the evening in Balgue so it does get busy with travellers but the staff are attentive and let you know if food times are going to be delayed. Seat yourself

👍👍 Great view and the food was amazing. Lost myself in the moment, I had to run to return the ATV rental but I would of spent an entire afternoon there & watched the sunset if it wouldn't have been so. Absolutely beautiful scene

😠 The scenery is amazing! The service was the worst service I've ever had in Nicaragua in general.. The air conditioner in the rooms did not work. I still was charged as a room with air conditioner. There were bugs all over inside the room. The lady that is in charge of the hotel did not care or even...

👍👍 This pizza knocked my SOCKS OFF. Did not expect to find such amazing pizza here!! These pies are clearly made by folks who know what they're doing. The texture of the crust is the stuff of dreams. I lamented the end of the pizza. We got the mushroom bacon and I would put a ring on it and ask it to m...
