Wouldn’t stay again! As the place is nice, please keep in mind that it’s a common thing to have your gas stolen for a vehicle. They have 2 parkings, one is closer to the reception but there are no signs, so you just park where is says parking (without knowing there is a second parking there). We parked our atv there with a full tank, and the next morning it turned out that our gas was stolen. Luckily some locals were able to help us and get the gas for us. All the locals said it’s happens there all the time, and the hotel doesn’t do anything with it. When we said it to the reception they were like- oh, where did you park- no apologizes. Zero signs telling that there is a second parking for motorcycles, or to be aware of thieves. I would expect more from the most expensive place on the whole island. We booked a private room for 2 nights, and as the room is very nice, they didn’t clean our room (not a big deal in general, but since you can’t flush the toilet paper it would be nice if they could at least empty the trashes). The food is okay, but overpriced as for Nicaragua and you can get way better food around. Other places on the island are much nicer, and as it turns out- safer, so wouldn’t bother staying there again.

We been here to enjoy a fresh chocolate drink right at the lake front. The place is so beautiful. We also tried the nacho salad which was the best one I ever had in Latin America. It’s not the cheapest one, but the drinks and food are awesome and the place is just lovely. Will definitely come back again

You need a bike to explore the island as its kind of remote but its a great location by the lake. Food was all veggie and really nice, yoga class was fab. Its chilled vibes here. Only downside was the water pressure in the shower so wash your hair before coming!

Love the daily yoga offered at this hotel. Great location, right in front of a lake. The vibe is very chill. They offer privates and dorms. I stayed in one of the dorms. It was basic but comfortable. The food at the cafe is amazing. Try one of their shakes.

El Pital was a fabulous place. Sadly, I did not stay here, however I did visit on numerous occasions. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the vibe was extremely chill. The smoothies were out of this world and the food was much the same. I was lucky enough to have a massage with Yandira. She was insanely good and so thorough with her work. The prices were very fair for the quality received. I would highly recommend El Pital.

We didn’t stay at El Pital, but experienced the chocolate tour and loved it! Justin who led the tour had so much knowledge and passion about the topic that we found ourselves totally engrossed in the subject from the history, science, politics and philosophy. The place has a lovely view of the lake and behind the property you tour and learn about how cacao is grown and craft chocolate made. Would recommend the to anyone considering to learn about chocolate!

This review is only for the cafe/restaurant. It is an absolutely stunning spot, beautiful chairs and benches overlooking the water and volcano views. The area is at one with nature and very rustic, but quite stylish too. It has a really nice vibe and delicious food and drinks - I am still dreaming about their vegan brownie!!!! It was well worth the trek down the path, which is very steep and rocky. It's a bit of an adventure, but we didn't have any issues with our scooter, just be careful and take it slow. Really good WiFi here which is hard to come by on the island.

This is an incredible hotel with the friendliest staff! We are so happy we stayed here and kept saying so everyday. It’s one of the main daily hang out spots and vegan restaurants, so it was so nice having access to that and incredible food the entire trip. It’s a beautiful location with a great atomosphere and has the best dessert on the island. Highly recommend!!

What a stunning place! Hostel and cafe by the lake covered in the jungle trees! The food and coffee in the restaurant were absolutely delicious! Great yoga class too. I’ll definitely comeback

El pital was such a lovely hostel. Located on a cacao farm, they make their own chocolate (highly recommend buying a few bars on your way out), grow their own fruits and vegetables, and all of their menu is locally sourced (and vegan!). If you’re not vegan, don’t let this stop you from booking with them, as all of their meals tasted incredible (we had the tacos, the curry, the chili, a few breakfasts and the desserts- they were all were amazing). The staff went above and beyond our expectations as well. Although a little bit more pricey than most, the experience is well worth it. We slept in the dorms for the first night and upgraded to the bus on the second! Highly recommend the bus- the biggest bed we’ve ever slept in!

I had an amazing stay at El pital. it's a beautifully quite spot with amazing sunset views of the volcano and a nice chillout vibe. Loved the option of staying/ sleeping in a former school bus, that was quite unique and a nice option for private space. The staff, especially Angel at the reception, was great. He was super accommodating and helpful, always with a smile on his face and even made it possible that my laundry service was done super early when I had to check out early. Thank you so much for being amazing. I would come back in a heart beat. Great place!

Chill place to stay for a few nights. They have a great restaurant with great views of the volcano and the lake. The only downside was that the restaurant only serves beer and I'm not a beer drinking. There is plenty of parking on the property. It was my first time driving an ATV and I was not comfortable driving it down the steep dirt road hill to the hostel parking lot so I parked it where other guests parked their motorcycles (close to the El Pital sign on the road at the top of the hill). I would not recommend parking at the top of the hill overnight because my gas was stolen out of my vehicle at night. Other than that, I had a great stay.

Cannot recommend this place enough for food and tours. We didn’t stay here but attended Justin’s cacao tour and man did we get more than we ever expected. For $20usd you get a 4hr tour with the most knowledgeable man on cacao. We learnt the history and the use of cacao as well as how the grow and make chocolate here. We had to come back and enjoy the comfortable couches and relaxing vista of the lake and try some more chocolate. The ceremonial cacao and chocolate cheese cake are to die for! I will dream of this for years to come. Favourite place on the island!

Amazing experience and beautiful location felt like I was in a mini paradise. The staff were super friendly and helpful, plus the environment was top tier. The food was so delicious, all vegan but honestly the best food we have had on our trip so far !!! Beds are comfy but there are a slight chance of bugs but it is expected in the jungle. More showers would be needed that is all. Overall good experience.
