I am currently having radiotherapy at The Christie at Withington.Everything is covid safe and I am presented with a new face mask each time at the door. I am treated with the most respect and everything was explained to me both in person and on the phone even now i have the transport from there which is save me a lot. The doctors and nurses who conduct the treatment talk me through each stage. They tells me each time a light is going to come on and when they are going to exit the room. I have nothing but praise for the staff from reception to exit. The Christie's have been amazing during my chemotherapy treatment . Thank you so much!

Visited and attended appointment with a friend who is undergoing the cancer treatments at Christies, one of the best centres in the UK and Europe! Staff so caring and helpful to all! Building has mega expanded since last visited in 2017. Beautiful garden very well maintained, available canteens and eating/ waiting areas around the building. Free car parking area D available short walking distance from Center. In absolute admiration and in deepest gratitude to all people who are providing amazing facilities and services day-to-day for cancer patients! Highly recommended!

Patients are treated with outstanding and compassionate care; so there is little wonder at the reputation this hospital has acquired over the years. Nothing is too much trouble and they really do understand the anxiety cancer brings with it. A huge thank you to every member of staff I've encountered throughout my journey, who have made it, thus far, much, much easier than it was prior to being referred here. Take heart, they really will do their absolute utmost to heal and support you. It truly is a wonderful place, full of hope and life.

Terrible hospital. My relative was an inpatient here on ward 12. The nurses were so uncaring and their mistakes caused me to lose my relative. Their EOL care was also woeful. The complaints response was also a disgrace. I just hope they none of my family ever have to be treated here in the future.

The Christie has saved my life twice. The first time was in 1999 when I was diagnosed with Breast cancer the second time was August 2021 after eight months of Chemo for Large Diffused B cell lymphoma I have been in remission since I finished my treatment in March 2022. The Lymphoma team were so supportive. On the two occasions when I was admitted as an in- patient the ward staff were kind and caring. I will never forget them and feel we should all be thankful we have a Centre of Excellence on our doorstep.thank you to the NHS

After a recent visit of my mum, she ended up with toast for her tea most days as when her tea arrived it was either cold or was that dry she couldn't even cut it up. I'm not sure how they expect people to feel a little better when they can't even serve them a decent meal. A meal that it supposed to be served hot which was served cold is totally unacceptable.

Just watched newsnight and disgusted that the christie publicly insulted a whistle-blower because they didn't believe her concerns regarding patient safety. All carers and their management must always support concerns being taken seriously no matter how trivial they may seem and without prejudice. A bulletin was sent to 3,000 staff in the christie downplaying the whistle-blower, which was sent out by the christie. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

We've been coming to The Christie, from Coventry, since the beginning of 2016. The staff & facilties are excellent. Whenever come here we always feel reassured, listened to & cared for. There is an WHSmith, M&S cafe in the foyer, Oak Road, (main), entrance, a small cafe by dept 42 & a restaurant, which does get very busy, does serve freshly cooked food as well as prepacked. There is a small coffee shop attached to the restaurant which is sometimes used as the payment point for the restaurant too resulting in long queues & potentially hot food cooling. There are a couple of 'chill zones' located here. Main one is in the foyer which staff also use. And the Conservatory which is a lovely area. Tho hot in Summer & cold in winter. Leading off from here are the gardens which are always beautifully maintained & a glorious place to sit, relax & reflect. Also in the main foyer is the Christie shop. Here there are Christie branded products. Metal water bottles, which I can vouch for are good, mugs, pens, pencils, note books, t-shirts, hoodies, baseball caps, keyrings, plus various gift items

World famous Cancer hospital, the staff are well trained, sympathetic, offer good advice, and are very accomodating, especially given the task at hand. They offer chemo, immuno, radio, and experimental therapy for all sorts of cancer. The nearby car park d, usually has space, and is currently free for patients. They organise transportation, do onsite blood tests, there's an M&S cafe, and restaurant. Support your local cancer hospice, and charity. When you come to need them, you realise how hard they work, with limited resources.

I second dianne comment.my dad is receiving care also in ward 12.the place is a shambles, nurses can never answer any questions reguarding care, medication general enquires about my dad.sent for 2 ecgs one day and they weren't sure why, caught covid and another infection which they say they don't know what it is.arrive at the hospital to an empty bed and no one knew where my dad was.the place is often left with used syringes left lieing about and pain meds in pots but not known what they are or why they haven't been given.you could ask the staff what ward he's currently on ( ward 12 fyi) and it would be same generic reply "I don't know I haven't been caring for him today,I don't know ive only just come on shift" noone knows the answers to anything suprised they know there own name!!! Having a relative recieve treatment at the christies is scary enough and causes so much anxiety yet they someone how they make it worse. Jason who works for palliative care loves the sound of his own voice.i never once for disbelieved when told my dad was dieing but he proceeded to tellme this in a condescending way 3x despite my distress.

My first time experience of Christie’s hospital :) Unfortunately found out I have stage 4 cancer just before Christmas. I’ve not been tolerating the pain well in my spine and one night the pain was so bad my excellent Macmillen nurse was really worried about me just incase I had spinal cord compression and she got me a bed in Christie hospital on an acute ward. Christie’s hospital worked on relieving that pain and making checks so fast, I was so greatfull to the team there that night for their fast past and understanding. Think I woke up a couple of patients as one said “can you keep the noise down” and the other one said “please close my curtains”….. sorry guys :) I was then transferred in the morning to ward 11 bed 13 the next day. Im not going to lie due to having a renal problems most my life I get pretty anxious about hospitals and stay overs. More so in a hospital I’ve never been too. What can I say porters nice friendly. Masks worn. The ward was so clean the cleaning staff work really hard as did the nurses in fact all staff really nice and friendly. I would like to say a special thank you to Yvonne she went above and beyond when I was feeling pretty low about things and a liver biopsy was about to get cancelled for the second time. She addressed the matter so kindly and with understanding and really it’s down to her I’m sure the biopsy got done that day so thank you Yvonne. Again though once that situation got addressed the team that did the procedure were fantastic. I also received Radiotherapy that evening on my spine to try and help with the pain. Been mine first time receiving radio therapy I had a bit of a cry, I think with it been such a long day and a rollercoaster of emotions i shouldn’t be ashamed about it. The radiotherapy girls came out and spoke to me, went though everything with me let me ask questions with regards to my kidney transplant been as safe as possible too. They were just great! Both teams I met down there were excellent, professional and also caring. While I’m using the words caring i would like to say ward 11 has a very special nurse on there called Ellie. She’s a real gem! a true asset to ward 11 and the NHS. Thank you guys and I do sincerely appreciate everything you all did for me to get me on my feet and home :) I now have a blood and clinic appointment on Wednesday so by no means is it all over but with the experience and care I received this past week I have no doubt I’m in the best hands.,

I had an appointment with Dr Peter Mbanu at Christie's and I was looked after really well. I didn't have a long wait and the doctor was very good , especially at explaining my past scans. It is also a beautiful hospital and I enjoyed my day there, no one should be worried about attending appointments.

My dad was referred here after being treated at Royal Oldham for bowel cancer and was told it was terminal. His consultant was Dr Mulimitha and his understudies who continually lied to us over several months about the progression of his cancer, we were lead to believe that his cancer was growing marginally and only found out via his surgery doctor exactly how far it had spread. When I confronted Dr Mulimitha he actually had no real reason as to why my dad had been lied to, only to say they didn’t have the same records as his GP. My 79 year old dad and I sat in a waiting room for 2 hours after his appointment time only to be told “there are people here sicker than your father” I wish I had put a complaint in very soon after, I know people have received excellent treatment here but for my dad and I, the experience was horrific.

Amazing........The Teenage Young Adult (TYA) department have been amazing with my 16 year old son, the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and offer help in any way possible, they go out of their way to get to know their patients personally, which from a parents point of view is very warming knowing that your child is not just a 'number' to them, they are treated as individuals with the upmost care and respect, even after our first visit they welcomed my son by name and that was by a nurse who passed on the corridor after only seeing my son for less than 10 minutes to take bloods the previous visit, that meant a hell of a lot to us. If you or your child have to visit The Christie TYA department at any point rest assure you will be welcomed and well looked after

Would like to give a huge appreciation for the nurses that have cared for my grandad in his last month having to stay at Christies. And for all the care over the past 11 years of him coming in for his check ups. He spoke highly of all of you and when I visited for the last time, he was still cracking jokes with us and one of the nurses. From helping him with his hair trim, to his final days. Thank you

Can not sing the praises of the Dr's and nurses high enough. Very helpful and attentive from start to finish. My surgeon has an amazing talent, no issues like we'd expected. Well done professor Clarke. However I do have one advisory..do NOT eat anything off the Halal menu it is not fit for consumption I didn't eat for two days, it was tasteless and in noway anything like asian cooking considering it's Halal. Then I realised that the vegetarian choices on the normal menu was massively better. And well done to the person who rang the bell.xx

If I could minus 1 I definitely would have. My father was at stage 4. We came to this hospital from over a hundred miles away. The staff seemed racist but couldn't say anything because of professionalism. They were very cold towards me and my father. They didn't seem to care. They were very nice to people of white colour. If you're a of a different colour, avoid this hospital at all costs! What a shame!

What is the point of having appointment times when every time I have to attend clinic you do not get seen at that time stated, several times I have waited over 2 hours, only a blood test today and now approaching an hour wait. Very poor organisation, NHS needs to improve dramatically.

I can honestly say I am so underwhelmed by this hospital after helping my brother get referred for stage 4 Neuroendocrine cancer. They seem completely disinterested and even left a voicemail saying they didn't know why my brother felt unwell......wow. Overrated and bad attitudes and I wish my brother had now stayed under our local hospital.

General info Chrisities is a reputable cancer hospital with an excellent advertising campaign highlighting its pioneering work on cancer treatment. My father, a retired GP of Pakistani origin, aged 71, was briefly admitted here in 2006, shortly after being diagnosed with late stage metastatic terminal cancer. During the stay I found that the attitude of nurses towards me and my father was generally quite cold and they seemed somewhat put out when doing their job. I experienced this even after his death, when I interacted with hospital reception staff to return a walking frame we had borrowed (which they didn't take and told me to return to the correct room myself). Post discharge support In my situation, the support my father received after discharge was inadequate and minimal, other than provision of this walking frame. I was the only other person living in the household at the time and was in full time employment working as a teacher in an academy in Bradford for which I drove a 60 mile round trip there and back daily. This meant that he was spending most of the day at home on his own, whilst taking oramorph, a medication that was causing hallucinations. I feel that as a relative, I should have received more support too as it was known that his health would only deteriorate further. Aside to this, I was also about to lose my second parent within the space of 3 years, aged 25. In education, we would expect cases such as these to be referred to social services. But, you may not get a choice to be admitted here as it is an NHS hospital but do ask questions about post- discharge care and procedures for when you or your relatives leave here. I have only come to know that this should happen at the age of 41, having recently completed my first stay in hospital (elsewhere) since having my tonsils removed as a child. I would also advise to spend time with your relatives here in person (if you can due to covid) so you can observe the general attitude towards them by staff and ensure the service is as good as advertised. I am not saying that everyone goes through the same experience and there are plenty of case studies that show people admitted here can get excellent care.

My dad died from renal cell carcinoma approximately 3 years ago. He was a patient at Christie’s from 2013. Professor Robert Hawkins certainly gave him a range of lifelines: Interleukin-2, Votrient, Cabozantonib, brain surgery, brain radiation, etc. My dad accepted these lifelines because he wanted to live. A sentiment that we all harboured. The side effects were often horrendous, but am sure he contributed to some important research.

The Christie Hospital is a great place for patients, with their support workers and nurses providing a great service to people in need. From what I have seen and heard, their staff get treated terribly, especially by senior management, anyone above a band 7 seems to think they are better than anyone else and power hungry.

They saved my life, also gave me the best treatment, fun time with the other kids (facebook group) and support. This support meant a lot, since everyday each nurse or doctor would ask me on how i am and tell me nice things, like “ i loveee your nails, we are not allowed to paint our nails so we shall just look at patient’s “ everything went perfect and can i just talk about the assortment of games they have? Even a pool table, ping pong and air hockey, upstairs!!! Whenever i was hungry, they would give me food, snacks drinks, soo good 😋 I recommend it, best hospital experience

Where do I even begin? These people are incredible, every single one of them.. They made the worst time of our lives much easier. The confidence, care and compassion from all staff was outstanding, nothing was ever to much trouble for them. Everything was explained throughly, any questions we had while at home we would call and leave a message and always have a response the same day. I will be forever grateful for everything they did for us, not only the cancer but also understanding his mental health and making allowances for me to stay on the ward whilst he had his surgery. I obviously hope we never have to fight cancer again but if we do I know we will be in safe hands under the care of The Christie and the most amazing staff I have ever met.

This Ward like going in time capsule 1940s it's disgusting in some areas even the lovely staff ask you to leave review to update . You still receive the quality of care, tho.
