Amazing museum for it's size! With a decent collection and the nice staff I can't wait to see what the future has in store for this place!

On Holme Lane, near Towsure. Took my nephews who are mad about fossils. The guide upstairs was extremely friendly and informative. She knew ruins about the exhibits. My nephew loved it, but I thought it was expensive for just a one room museum. £4.00 for adults and £2.00 for children.

When I visited there where 2 experts available to answer any questions, I was really impressed by this aspect of the museum. If you have a child or indeed an adult who has lots of questions about ancient life they would be in heaven. Give this museum some love Sheffield and hopefully it will be an amazing resource for years to come.

Small, locally run museum - really good. It's not a big place, but it's packed full of exhibits in the main room. The staff were knowledgeable and happy to answer a range of question. We spent about an hour there with our kids and had all sorts of interesting conversations. Reasonably priced with family tickets for £10 - less than we'd spend in a coffee shop.

A great place for the kids. They get to see fossils and a movie telling them all about were to find them and what to do when you have found them.

What a fabulous treasure trove of knowledge and beautiful things from 100's of millions of years ago. The place is only small but jampacked with fossils, and the enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff bring it all to life making it a great place to visit. Easy to get to also on the tram!

What a fantastic place, really knowledgeable staff on hand and they are really friendly. Looking forward to how they grow. I can't believe how great this place is and its basically on my doorstep. Please be aware, they have just started, so they currently have one room jam packed with fossils and a room that provides interesting/educational films.

It's so lovely to know that a place like this exists in Sheffield, with such dedicated people behind it. The curator James was so friendly and interesting to talk to. As long as this place gets the support it deserves it will only go from strength to strength and become an amazing resource and attraction for the city and the wider region. Highly recommended 😊

Compact but well formed mini-museum of fossils from the area and wider. Good for old and young. Would recommend a guided tour by one of the many enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides to get the most from the interesting exhibits. We had a tour and did the museum justice in less than an hour. The museum is one room, but with plenty packed in, the rest of the building is private and public labs. Free parking nearby at Malin Bridge Park and ride.

As other comments. Absolutely delightful staff who enthusiastically talk you through the exhibits. It's small but very Interesting. I thought £10 for a family of 4 was good value. We were able to park right outside but even if this isn't available then there's plenty of free parking in the streets across the road. Once you've seen the fossils then the series "Walking with dinosaurs" is playing in the adjacent room. This TV series was awesome(if you haven't seen it)

Very pleasant helpful staff. Small but informative. £4.00 entry bit pricy as only 1 display room and cold as open to outside temp. Visit Sat 2pm as varied lectures avail on given subjects. Worth going too. Wear warm coat.

Fantastic wallpaper and nice artefacts. They do a lecture every Saturday at 2pm which was really interesting. The lectures are physicists

So much interesting stuffs, like fossils and some activities. Its very small place, we finished seeing the museum within 30 minute. They have some activity for the children on Sunday morning, we just missed that 😔. The people in there are very co-operative. We are so surprised that they have 400 million years old fossils😲

I wish we'd visited 2 years ago when the youngest was mad into dinosaurs. MY boy still loved it and the guy I spoke to knew so much that I had a great time. I was absolutely overwhelmed by how much interest one room can hold. I can not recommend this museum enough. Thanks, Russ and James.

The museum is pleasant and decently priced, it's small but also a research centre which it explains there. They also have a Fossil Club on a Sunday morning. Usually it's enough to spend 30 minutes to an hour there, or more if you're really into fossils and history!

FASCINATING & FANTASTIC. This is a friendly, family run museum, professionally curated and should appeal to both adults & families with children alike. As others have commented at present the exhibits are in one large room but the space is packed full with interesting fossils. Some are small-scale and require engagement to fully appreciate but there is much to be gained by taking the time to look carefully at each and every item. Admire the quality of the fossils on display. Marvel at the diversity achieved during the fossilisation process. Be sure to ask questions. There are many knowledgeable people on hand to help and educate including the museum founder, James, who is a trove of information. This place is a must-visit for anyone with an interest in paleontology. Look, learn and be impressed!

The museum is very well decorated and it holds a lot of fascinating fossils. The people who work there are very informative and friendly as well as clearly passionate about the exhibits. I really enjoyed how there was an emphasis on the Yorkshire aspect of the discoveries. Its definitely worth a trip and I hope it gets enough support to continue to grow and develop.

I enjoyed my visit to this museum last time. The member of staff are very acknowledgeable. It's a room-size museum which you can spend 20 mins or less. I hope there will be an extension in the future.

A lovely way to spend some time on a misty Monday. We were given a really detailed and interesting tour of the museum. It's small, but the staff have tonnes of knowledge and are really happy to impart it - they are a friendly and enthusiastic bunch. We didn't stop at the café because it was closed, but we had a fab time and we both learned lots. (I'll be googling some of the things we learned!) It's possible to pay by card - I tried to find out beforehand and it wasn't stated in other reviews, thought it was worth a mention. We're complete newbies to the subject and I would have liked some more written info with the displays to enhance the experience as I like to take on new information that way too. I really hope it continues to grow and develop - the lab facilities will be open to the public soon which is really exciting, we can't wait! Final thing I'd like to say is the staff were wonderful with my son, who likes to chat in tangents - they had lots of time for him and his interests. We'll be back!

Great little museum! Staff were extremely passionate and helpful enhancing the experience. The display includes some really interesting dinosaur fossils. It is small (only one gallery) and for the average person, some of the displays could do with a bit more than just the latin names as I had no idea what I was looking at and sometimes didn't want to ask staff about each individual fossil! Cafe is also very small and a little cold as it's next to the entrance but it was nice to not have to pay the earth for a cup of tea. All in all a good experience and look forward to how it develops as lots of potential.

Visited on a wet Sunday afternoon with the family and had a fabulous time. Both kids thoroughly enjoyed it especially when at 3 o’clock the staff turn the lights off and illuminate the glow in the dark fossils, crystals and gems!! The staff are extremely knowledgeable and have a real passion for the subject!!

Very small, however the exhibits were amazing ! If you like fossils, it will be a hit. Children won't have time to get bored. There are several helpers who have an immense amount of knowledge and are more than happy to explain the exhibits. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Just an afterthought, the museum is upstairs, so anyone with difficulty with stairs, please check if there is a lift before going to save you from disappointment.

Its small but brilliant. We attended a lecture and the glow in the dark tour. Enjoyed by the whole family and my son is totally inspired by what he learned. Pic of him checking if his fossil glows (it does)

It's a very small and well laid out gallery, probably best enjoyed if you already know a bit about fossils/dinosaurs. But the staff were absolutely delightful and engaged with the 5 and 2 year old I'd taken with me. The 5 year old was thrilled to meet real life paleontologists! And has reenacted taking fossils from the beach to the museum since we got home! How does he apply for an internship? 🤔

I took my 3 year old son to the museum today, having visited this brilliant collection myself before. The staff were very engaging and encouraging with such a young lad, and he came out wanting to be a ‘fossil digger-upper’ when he is a grown up. Mission accomplished 😀

Good things come in small packages, it may only be one room and a little shop, but this far out-weighed by the knowledge and enthusiasm show by the team. Well worth a visit, would be ideal for a school trip, they'd be stunned by the fossils that have been found locally. Thank you for a great couple of hours. Value for money too.

Paid £10 for a family ticket (2adults and 2 children) to experience a small room with fossils in it that took us 10mins to look around. The staff are really helpful though and know a lot about the fossils.

I had a wonderful time at this museum. The volunteers are friendly and very knowledgeable, they definitely added a lot of value to my visit. It is small, so you won't need to dedicate a lot of time to it.

Had the guided tour with our 4 year old grandson, it kept his attention for 1 hour which is pretty good. Glad we had the guided tour, otherwise we wouldn't know what we were looking at most of the time, and the guides added background stories to the exhibits.

Really interesting museum full of fossils and gems. Videos too..Particularly captivating for our grandchildren aged 5+ and 7+ were the two curators who were keen to share with them knowledge of and passion for the exhibits and their history.

Absolutely delightful spent half an hour on a rainy day chatting to 2 wonderful super charged young people who we're an utter delight to chat too Yes it's not a massive collection but it's 8 pounds!! Equates to A cup of coffee each!! I thought it was really interesting personal and so interesting knowing some of the fossils we're found in the back garden of someone in Sheffield! Thoroughly enjoyed a must for anyone

A brilliant little gallery with very knowledgeable staff, happy and willing to answer any questions you have. We visited as a group, and got to experience the public lab where we each prepped our own ammonite. This is a really unique experience, and I'm so happy with my ammonite! Thanks
