Had a lovely walk around the water park, took me around 1hr at a leisurely pace. Good place to get some fresh air and a bit of exercise. Stopped at the Lake view cafe for a coffee which is situated below Boat house restaurant, a lovely place for a brew looking over the lake. The car parking was free when I went (Jan 2022) and plenty of spaces.

Easy access by tram or car. Free parking. Beautiful just to walk around, but also has organised water sports, open water swimming and fishing.. Plus a more classy restaurant and a more sausage n egg barm cafe. Dog friendly. Ace free day out for kids to run off their energy and explore. Brilliant day out with family

Great place for an unwind. Nice Waterside wander with a myriad of wildlife. Take some healthy food for the waterfowl, (Not bread) About 1 hour walk around the lake, if it wasn't for the traffic noise from the adjacent M60, you could be in the Lake District. Good parking on site and a couple of cafés during busier times.

Nice place for a good walk around the lake it also joins up with Chorlton water park if you want a good hike. There is a cafe and the boathouse if you want to stop for a cuppa and a bit to eat. There is also a pub Jackson boat that you can walk to it's dog friendly has a big play area for the kids and dog friendly. Good menu and reasonable prices too

Attractive place even in mid-winter. Coffee shops and restaurant busy on a bright January day which was good to see. Tram park-and-ride an excellent facility.

Excellent day out for all the family! Plenty of free parking and 2 cafes (a little expensive) with public toilets at each. Boat rides very reasonably priced. Lovely place to walk with lots of wildlife to see. Only slight criticism could do with more benches and bins.

If you're round the area pop along to Sale Waterpark. Plenty of parking available. A popular café on the road leading in has outdoor seating offering views of the birdfeeders , popular with the resident birds . Great opportunities for photographers . A lovely walk round the lake will allow you to admire the wildlife on the water. Plenty of cheeky ducks , Canada geese and the beautiful swans with the cygnets popping up to have their photographs taken. Cormorants patrolling the lake are amazing to view . If you are lucky you may catch sight of the stunning kingfishers that hunt round the lake & nearby streams . The restaurant at the waterpark offers quality food and the ground level café offers delicious day time food together with a good choice of drinks including coffee to warm you after a walk in the cold . Ideal for all age groups . A real gem with easy access from the M60 . Highly recommended 👍

A lovely place to walk around, with lots of different tracks, & benches to sit on & enjoy some peace & tranquility. (The Mersey runs close by & provides another walking opportunity.) Our grandchildren love feeding the many birds, & eating outside at the cafe. It's a lovely place to visit & just relax. We enjoyed watching the boats on the water last time we came.

Our dogs love walking here. It's relaxed and everyone is very respectful of each other. Walk down the river Mersey The nice thing is that there are no cyclists..

Sale water park is a fantastic place for a number of activities. From canoeing to fishing bird watching to having a great cup of coffee sale water park provides it all . The facilities are great and includes disabled toilets and facilities for supported people. Regarding the fishing no day tickets are available and you have to join the local club however it is worth it if your into catching big carp as the place is full of them . Regarding bird watching there Is a dedicated hide for everyone to enjoy.

Love this place. It's lovely for a walk, there's a nice little cafe at the first car park. Also great open water swimming here from openswim.org.uk, and all sorts of watersports. Pretty lucky to have this on my doorstep. I know the motorway is next door but it wouldn't exist if it wasn't there!

Great wetland around the main lake, Sale Ees, the River Mersey and Chorlton Ees on the other side. For walking, best to park at the visitor centre car park and look at the maps there. There's a small café there too. The water sports centre has its own car park (free) and café - there's also a sports club based there or you can book courses (pre-lockdown back after hopefully). Fishing needs a permit.

A great location for trail running with dog, up and down the riverside paths, through Kenworthy Woods, around the lakes, and further up the river to Didsbury and beyond or further down the river and connecting with the Transpennine trail. Also good for grabbing a quick swim in the main lake.

Lovely place. Great on any day summer or winter as the paths are well maintained. Plenty of parking but on a busy day can become over run. So worth parking up 1 of the side roads.

I went extremely early in the morning, 6:15 roughly... I've never been before and no one else was there. I would probably recommend going later on as it didn't feel too safe (nothing happened I just felt uneasy lol). It did however get me round the water much quicker :)

Very nice to play kayaking Polo

  • 5/5 M M. 3 years ago on Google
great park all year round especially the ducks that adds life to this big lake, a lot of people come here with their kids to feed the ducks with bread or some kind of bird food, others like to walk, kayaking, even swimming in summer, it even has camping spots. there is also a wide river that is just 5-10 minutes walk away from this location which is a completely different view, even better for long walks, so you get the best of 2 views in one place, definitely recommended as a weekend or everyday walk destination
