What I like about Toby Carveries is that you know exactly what you are going to get. This one is no different with essentially the same menu as usual. The staff here though couldn't do enough to help us and this made it all the better experience. Worth a look.

Really looking forward to a carvery tonight. Gave Toby a try for a change as not been for a while. What a mistake... The lady who greeted us and took us to our table was lovely and polite, no issues there. However, the lady who carved the meat was very rude and abrupt! Gave out ration portions even though we were paying customers, she also moaned at my partner about his choice change. Overheard her complain to another customer about them needing to wait for sausage to be cooked. Meat was dry and all had this certain similar taste. Vegetables/potatoes didn't look appealing and didn't taste much better either. Hardly no gravy at the sauce stand. Won't be returning in future.

Just been for a carvery. Absolutely 100% perfect, the food was fresh & lots of choice for a mid week meal. Excellent value for money. Well done to all in the kitchen staff. A special thank you to Jessica, a lovely young lady. She not only served us but also came out to the car park with my forgotten coat , going above and beyond thank you. Will definitely be going back soon. Well done everyone.

Can't fault it. The Manager was great as we're the staff. The chef is excellent, everyone was helpful and friendly. It was our first time here and we will definitely be going there again. Booked for 8 pm as the week before it was packed at 7. Arrived and waited 5 minutes at the door to be shown to the bar to wait for a table. Table is ready 8.15. Servery is empty so we go straight up. Nice enough member of staff cuts the meat and I look down the line. The food was dry to the point the sweet corn looked more like pop corn the stuffing was rock solid and the other vegetables were just stewing in the heat. I raised my concerns to the server behind the counter and fair play he did agree. We then decided to leave it. Went back to the bar to get a refund on the 2 drinks we had purchased but had not yet touched. The manager came over and gave us back the cash without any hesitation. Something tells me it was not the first time that evening he had been asked to do the same. What has happened to the Turf. It used to be excellent food in there?? Poor show. Will not return.

Lovely customer service and food, Grace served us and was lovely. Hannah went above and beyond for my partners allergy and also recommended us an app that is going to make it much easier to eat out in future. Deffo will be returning! The young chef was also very lovely!

Chatterley Whitfield Pub/Diner, was great. Didn't have to wait long to book-in, as my daughter and I booked online, due to it being popular. The food was great, reasonably priced and the atmosphere was good too. It has disability facilities, value for money

Came her today for food, had to wait to be served as serving kitchen staff first even though customers were waiting. Then had to wait again for what felt like forever to carve the turkey even though it was clear there was only dry bits left. So asked for fresh turkey as I’m paying for it and shouldn’t be given the drag ends. Carver did apologise but should of just changed the turkey to begin with instead of trying to prove a point he could get more turkey off (he didn’t). By the time it was sorted my partner was half way through his meal, we don’t get to eat out very often so thanks for that too. Roasters were overcooked, dry and hard, no onions in gravy, carrots so dry they looked raw and lack of variety in vegetables. Then went for a second drink and no Pepsi max so didn’t bother with a second drink despite paying for refills. Staff were good though, place was clean and so were the toilets. I understand the food is served on hot plates to keep it all warm but I expect better when it’s late afternoon on a Saturday. Won’t be coming again. Waste of money. Didn’t say anything whilst still there as didn’t want to make a fuss.

Too busy , staff over committed , no time to explain how the carvery menu work , we hadn’t been before so didn’t understand how the carvery worked . Sat there for ages before I asked someone to come and take our order . Was told to just go join the queue, I Wasn’t informed that I needed to order vegetarian dish first . Queue was long and my 96 yr old father found it difficult to stand for so long . No offers of help from staff . The table we got ( 35 ) is in the aisle and everyone passes by there , staff desk there too , no interaction from them , finished plates left for ages , no offer of more drinks or dessert. Had to call them whenever we needed something. Also door to outside open and as the evening went on it was very drafty . Paid cash and waitress kept change ! It wasn’t much .. 70p or so but still had no right to just keep it without asking . Food was good and tasty and booking on the app was good

Despite the restaurant being extremely busy we had booked a table and were seated immediately on arrival. Short wait at the servery but excellent choice of four meats and piping hot vegetables. Waiting staff were polite and checked if everything was OK with our food. No rush to complete our meal despite customers queuing to be seated. Bill presented promptly when requested. We had a discount voucher which made the experience even better.

Amazing meal today at Tobey Carvery, been coming here on and off for a while but Cyril made our visit and our day today! Really looked after us and helped us with choosing the best options for our meal. The food was spectacular and the portions are plentiful. And we even managed to take some home with us after we ate so the price was really good value. Thank you Cyril for your help and warmth, you made our day :)

After arriving for a pre-booked party on Saturday 11th November, we were greeted by someone who I presumed was the the Manager. He didn't exactly look the part of someone in charge as he presented himself in clothes he looked like he'd slept in the Night before. He explained to us that they were short staffed and told us that our eating area had been set aside for our group, it actually hadn't as it was just a set of tables and chairs placed in the normal spaced fashion for normal Dining instead of all being set together or as near as you'd expect for a party of Eighteen people. We were then told that instead of receiving Table Waiting Service we'd have to go and order our food ourselves at the Bar, which itself wasn't a major issue as we we're ordering drinks anyway. The next problem came when we weren't given the usual individual receipts or coloured Discs/Tokens etc to taken to the Carvery in order to prove we'd paid and what size meal we wished to have. The Carver themselves told us we had to wait in order for her to verify the above prior to serving our meal, even then they had to wait for the single Staff member to finish serving drinks to others before it was confirmed we were being honest about our order. Then the Children's meals arrived late and some of the portions arrived even later than the main one, leaving us wondering why. Once we'd all managed to sit down and eat then have a break in-between courses, puddings had been ordered by some which were also ridiculously late in arriving, in fact my partner had ordered an item which didn't arrive until everyone had finished theirs. Now even I would have thought that if you're a Manager and you're short staffed you'd have a small bank of other Staff you could reliably call upon to step in, Saturday night or not you're supposed be running a Service Business and last night you failed. I'd even heard other people saying the same as they left at the same time as us. One person running the Bar for multiple drinks and food orders isn't good enough and one waiting Staff member for the whole place isn't good enough. We won't be coming back at all and even the one Star I've given you is too much but the system doesn't allow anything less. 0/10

We went for breakfast with Santa, it was very busy and I felt the staffing didn't reflect this. When there are organised events I think the staffing needs to be increased. We were taken to our table and everything was correct, I went to order the food and it was straight forward but there was only one member of staff serving which resulted in queues particularly when speciality drinks had to be prepared . The wait for the buffet could have been reduced if there had been two chefs on instead of one. The poor member of staff was constantly in and out trying to keep things filled up and there was a number of waits for fresh food to be brought out. This could have probably been avoided with an extra pair of hands and calculating that more breakfasts were going to be served because it's a special event. Despite this the food was cooked very well, it was hot and tasted very good. I thought it was very good value for money . Santa spent quite along time with us and we enjoyed the overall experience

My rating is purely on the fact of the chef called Cyril!! Amazing chef, his bacon skills are on point! Very friendly the man deserves a pay rise. Only chef in toby I know to go above and beyond for his customers. Don't ever change yourself Cyril!

Carvery was acceptable without being great - we've had better there on earlier occasions. Desserts were very good, and coffee very nice. BUT the air-conditioning blowing down from the ceiling cooled our food down so quickly that the food on our plates was stone-cold well before we had finished our meals and consequently too much food had to be left uneaten. It was mentioned to a waitress but nothing was done to reduce the air-con, yet this was NOT a warm day and the air-con could have been switched off without causing problems.

Came in yesterday, food was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. The manager was very helpful, even though I had booked for the wrong tobey carverry he still managed to find us a table. We will certainly be back

We was booked in for 11.50am for the lunchtime menu, we were seen to our seats. Then Lisa the manager took our order and as always made us very welcome, and came back and asked if the food was ok which it always is, and we always come back time and time again. We had a pudding after the lunch which again was amazing. We told Lisa that we came that day as it was a spring special for the over 60’s she also informed us that the offer was on in June and if we didn’t receive an email with this offer just to let her know and she would give that discount to us. Lisa is a credit to your company and we thought we should send this email telling you so

Love this place. Its always clean, staff are polite and friendly and the food is top notch easily the best carvery around always full after eating here and the desserts are always a great addition to your meal. Keep up the good work and I definitely recommend a visit but always best to book in the evening and weekends as its extremely popular 😀

Been here for lunch today, we had booked a table and the place was not too busy. We were seated quickly and opted for the unlimited Pepsi Max drinks and Carvery. Food as always is piping hot having been kept under the powerful servery lights.. watch your hands when using the serving spoons they can be HOT! Meats cooked to perfection.. and being early the veg was still nicely fresh. We enjoyed our meal very much our waitress Lisa was lovely very attentive and chatty made the whole meal a great experience.. price was great too. Will be back again soon.

Come regularly to here for breakfast. Fantastic service, lovely hot food. Very good price. Always receive a warm friendly welcome from Lisa and Graham. They always busy taking care of customers. Would highly recommend

Came here new years day with family, plenty of meat choices and veg! All was hot and absolutely delicious, I was full to the brim! Staff was very polite and welcoming, and nothing was a bother to them, place was lovely and clean, will be looking forward to our next visit.

Table was booked for the Christmas festive menus. Table for eight people in the name of Johnson. Table was bare of anything festive. No crackers until staff member appeared with a large box throwing the Christmas crackers from last year ( she said) into the middle of the table. Only one cracker out of the eight worked ( old stock damp). We are a group of over 60s who visit these premises at least three times a month for either breakfast or evening carvery. The staff were rushed off their feet and we were rushed to join the queue. The sprouts were so hard I could not get my fork through them and also the cauliflower. I did report these to the staff who said she would check if any more available. She came and told us they only had one steamer so could not offer me any fresh. The puddings were also not up to standard as the three chocolate brownies had to be returned as the custards were cold and the dishes were ice cold. We were very disappointed with the meal and hope your standards improve for when we book again (if at all). Many people had left their sprouts and cauliflower cheese showing it was a problem.

On the whole had a lovely lunch. Wasn't rushed and the carvery was well replenished. I did order the Festive Salmon and was quite surprised to find the amount of bones in the portion. You'd expect a couple being fish but not 10+. Starter & dessert were very nice.

Me and my mum love this place, we try to go once a week.. the staff are amazing and attentive, they are so friendly and hard working. This weeks food was beautiful… especially the swede mash …. Best local carvery

The food was very nice and the table we were seated at was in a nice position and not too noisy. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes in the carvery queue. The staff were doing their best to look after us, even though a couple of our drink orders were wrong, they were changed without a problem.

Had a wonderful meal with family tonight, atmosphere was great as well as the staff (especially Sarah) going over & above to please. Empty plates & full stomachs says it all. Thank you so much, we’ll definitely be back!!

Really enjoyed the carvery here. Great choice of meats and vegetables. All delicious. Gravy spot on too. Pudding was lovely, brownie with whipped cream. Staff friendly. Will definitely return.

Father's day meal with in laws today, met at the door by 2 lovely smiling people, given a pager and guided to the bar for drinks, not even 2 minutes later the manager came over and seated us at our table. Everything on the servery looked amazing and so fresh, some of the best potatoes ever and the gravy was spot on. Ordered ice cream for pudding and it was like proper Mr Whippy! Amazing experience and highly recommended, thank you Norton Canes Toby!!

Very nice food and a good selection of vegetables, but not very generous with the meat l had turkey, 1 slice and roast beef which consisted mainly of the bits off other slices. It was cooked nicely and staff were OK, lady on front desk wasn't very pleasant, needs some social skills, but our waitess was a nice young girl.

The staff were friendly and the food was fresh and delicious.
