👍👍 More chilled out than Ashton one..fabulous staff from front of house and to the great trainers. They take time to get to know you and help achieve your goals. Jack set me up with a 6 day work out programme that's enjoyable and is working for me. Rob has got me into the classes, so much fun working... More chilled out than Ashton one..fabulous staff from front of house and to the great trainers. They take time to get to know you and help achieve your goals. Jack set me up with a 6 day work out programme that's enjoyable and is working for me. Rob has got me into the classes, so much fun working out with other groups of people. Did 4 classes this week, got 4 booked for next week. Never thought I'd love the gym so much. Have even done water aerobics and legs bums and tums classes. The sauna and steam room are fabulous, so hot and roomy compared to some gyms. Members are really nice too. Friendly. No stead heads. An absolute pleasure to go every time. Am happy to be a member of the village people (lol) T.H Updated review after I changed gyms in sept to this branch fulltime. Ngl it's my home from home

I love the village, decent gym, cannot beat revovery after a session with a swim, sauna, steam and relaxing in Jacuzzi. Although having been coming here for many years, Feels like it needs some investment and to give it a spruce up in the Steam room and Jacuzzi especially. Needs to be done and the drains cleaned properly so doesn't smell.

Currently a gym member just put in my cancellation request I'm on a gold membership which is £45 a month. Last visit 2 treadmills down, aircon not on it felt warm and stuffy. High smell of chlorine in pool area, jacuzzi makes my eyes water. Needs some repair in that area and sauna always rammed. I preferred the old sauna it seemed bigger. Changing rooms spotless though and plenty of lockers. Food always good 👍

Pool staff are always very friendly, say hello and recognise you. It's often spotless when I go in the late evening and I regularly see Kim and the others scrubbing the place. The other members who regularly use the pool are normally friendly too. It can be a bit messier in the early evening when it's busy and the kids are in for lessons, i.e. toilets not flushed, but otherwise still pretty tidy. Would be really good if chilled music could be played in the pool. I'd also prefer it if you could get a swim only membership as it's rather expensive if you don't want to use the gym. Someone else mentioned 'sand' in the spa pool in a review it is a bit off putting and would be great if something could be done about it. On the whole it's really good there. :)

Good gym with good facilities but the wet area could do with a refurb especially the showers. Feels a bit old and dirty, it's not dirty you always see the staff cleaning. Also could do with some more free weight machines and update the plates. Apart from that the facilities are good, staff are really friendly, never too busy, and tends to attract other friendly gym goers compared to the other village gyms

The actual swimming facilities are not the best but the sauna and steam room and spa pool are great. Shame about other customers who ruined my experience

Love this gym ! It has a great relaxing atmosphere and the staff and instructors are lovely.. I just wish there were more classes in the evenings & on weekends, especially yoga & pilates. I'd love to come more often but for people who work 9-5 Monday-Friday there aren't as many classes, and the ones that are on get booked up really quickly so its hard to get a space booked.

My friend and I joined the gym to use the pool. When we joined we were not made aware the pool was dedicated to kids swim time from 9-12 and 2-5pm Mon-Thu. The pool is virtually unusable for swimming laps during these hours but also the side of the pool most suitable for laps is used for kids lessons. We both think this is unfair to members like ourselves paying £48 a month but unable to use the facilities we want. Surely it would be fairer to keep one side of the pool free for adult swimming. The other issue we have is the showers are not cleaned regularly enough and always seem to full of hair. The costume spinner has been out of action since we joined with no one able to confirm when it will be fixed. All in all we are quite disappointed and do not feel we are getting value for money. Had we been informed the pool is used for kids the majority of the day we would have joined elsewhere.

I have been a member of the Village for some time using the pool to help with my mobility issues as a result of chemotherapy induced nerve damage. During lockdown, my mobility deteriorated and my confidence was greatly affected but I eventually built up the courage to ring the village and ask whether they had any facilities for disabilities. I was given so much support and understanding and last week I came back to the pool and was welcomed by all the staff. The carpark has disabled parking right outside the main entrance. I was able to use the lift down to the health club and was shown the disabled changing rooms which are fitted with handrails, seats and an emergency alarm. They also have showers and toilets. There are no steps to climb from the changing rooms to the pool and I was allowed to use my crutches whilst getting to the pool. Every member of staff have been so kind and it really has helped in making me feel included in a hobby I have always loved to do. Thank you all so much.

I go there as a guest of my wife who is a member of the Village Gym. She prefers Hyde to Ashton-under-Lyne where she is a registered member. It has a well equipped gym with machines and free weights as befits the standard. Videos and TV, Internet fitted treadmill/crosstrainers, cycle/rowing machines. Large swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, presently subject to a booking system because of Covid-19. After your work out you might want a bite to eat in the restaurant we visit and great burgers, pizza and bar type food are available there, again restricted to outside eating only

I'd like to rate the gym higher, unfortunately many areas of the gym and 'wet area' are tired and in need of maintenance or renewing. The free weights in the gym are randomly stored on the racks ( some labels on the shelving would at least encourage members to return dumbbells to an organised position ! ). Bar bell weights are a mismatch of brands with many missing their nominated weight. Around the sauna and steam room, the ceiling tiles need replacing, rusting brackets hold the shower pipes to the wall. Shower heads need replacing as the water doesn't flow well from the rose. A few lighting sockets no longer work but have been left. The jacuzzi has had 'sand' on the floor each time I've looked in when the jets have stopped. These fixes would dramatically improve the appearance yet never seem to be done. On a positive note, the cardio machines are good, the staff are excellent, friendly and helpful.

Good enough variety of equipment, especially for a "hotel gym" I'd only wish for a few more things, but then they do have a pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. So I can't ask for everything. Free weights go up to 50kg and there's plenty of plates for bench, olympic bars. And there's a small but adequate functional section

We stayed in room 219 over 2 days this week overall was not the best experience. More expensive than it is worth and the carpet and bed has a serious case of bugs. I have experienced flea bites all up my legs and ankles. I did go to reception and explain this but nothing was offered to make the situation better for us so I wouldn’t rate the customer service very high. I did offer to show the receptionist the bites so they could see the bites was fresh and it was 8-ish AM so he knew the information I was giving was accurate. I wish we got an airbnb and I wouldn’t stay again.

Honestly one of the worst experiences in a hotel and restaurant I've ever had and this is including a 2 star restaurant in Africa. I've been to a few Villages across the country and generally prefer them to some other chains but this was by far the worst experience. The only positive thing was that the room was okay and clean and the drinks were made well. Other than that the restaurant experience was atrocious as not only wad the food look warm, it didn't taste great at all. The loaded fries and the sweet loaded fries were not good (don't get these)! Had the "Get Shredded" as well which was fine when eating it but we both threw it up when we got back to the room. To top it off the service was bad. It look at goos 10-12mins before anyone came to see us for orders, after food was delivered no one checked how it was or if there were any issues, there were dirty glasses on the table were sat on and none of the waiter(esses) that attended to us took them away from start to finish. It's like there are no KPI's being worked on at all. To rub salt in the wound, everything was mid to low high restaurant priced therefore you would expect a good experience. DISAPPOITMENT!! Guess take away will do tonight.

I use this facility daily, it has everything I need and always super clean. Especially, enjoy (nope, I love) the classes. No particular favourite but the early circuits have become part of my daily routine. As for the staff, bloody brilliant, shout out to those that teach the classes. The energy and enthusiasm in every class. High recommend the Village Hyde Gym.

Sharp practice from membership services. Both my wife and myself are members and we both received an email on 7/12/22 informing us that our monthly fees would increase by almost 13%. Taking into account the increase and my wife’s limited use and the increase we decided to cancel her membership. I spoke to membership services and was told that we would have to pay another complete months fees, ie having to pay for the month of January. This begs the question why weren’t we told of the increase in November?

This veue provided us with the ends of sandwiches for our £20 AFTERNOON TEA. What we got I'd give my dog at home. Disgusting that your management think it's ok to serve this. Within the room was 36 paying guests at £20 a head. We didn't even equate to two slices of bread. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND YOUR AFTERNOON TEA.

I joined so I could take my kids swimming and could use facilities on my own. I've had a few issues with certain staff complaining that the kids can't do this and can't do that. Some need to be additional needs friendly. My baby has a life limiting condition and I use the pool for him as an extra form of physiotherapy but now had to stop bringing him as the pool is so cold that he turns blue after 20 minutes of being in the water. Advertises a heated pool but the water is always cold.

Was a great little hotel, rooms are a little dated but it's an old hotel.. Very clean throughout the rooms and the hotel. Didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. Staff were always friendly and welcoming. Pool is amazing although better signing for changing rooms as I walked into the men's 🤦🤦🤦 Spa clean and a good size 👍

This app has been off line for 6 days now unable to book classes then when you phone in all classes are full. Then you have the nerve to put the membership up No staff members or any staff from membership available to assist. I've been a member for many years if this Carrie's on I shall be cancelling my membership and going else where.

😠 This review is for swimming only. The changing area is an absolute disgrace. They have mud, talc, dirt, and blocked drains, and it makes it worse that the classes leave the clothes in the cubicals to make it harder to find one to change in.
