I had a wonderful evening here with 4 others. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. A shout out to Helen, Tanya, Paddy and Lara who made it so special for us. Thank you

A pretty standard pub with a good selection of drinks and food on the menu. A very attentive server was the highlight as the lasagne was burnt underneath and had very little taste. Something needed to be put right as Iโ€™ve never seen blackened burnt pasta in a ceramic dish before. The pasta itself was over cooked and the meat bland and also lacking in quantity. Fix this. I never drew it to the lovely servers attention as there wasnโ€™t much she could have done anyway and I wasnโ€™t in the mood to argue.

We attended Saturday brunch but unfortunately we left having been served food that was not relevant to the menu. We had apologies from the management which was sincere and their service was extremely good. The issue was obviously the chef and the obvious failings in employing somebody who evidently had no food experience. We were served a dry grilled fillet of salmon on toast (supposed to be smoked salmon and egg), a plate with a hash brown, burnt/dry scrambled egg and a wedge of cheese that had been under a warmer (supposed to be farmers breakfast), staff were informed by the kitchen and in turn us 30 minutes in that the porridge was not available. Drinks were spot on, staff very friendly and apologetic but absolutely not good enough for what is supposed to be a premium pub in a premium area. The saving grace was there was no charge and no food eaten.

Sunday menu choices could do with changing for the summer. Not bad but not great.

Not really sure I can review as I didnโ€™t get to experience much. Friendly greeting in a traditional village pub but sadly thatโ€™s as far as I got. No food was being served at 7:45 on a weekday, perhaps common knowledge for some. The usual lagers on draft and plenty of private seating.

My children loved the food here and ate all of it. It is a great place for kids and families with wide range of menu choices. The chicken burger received very high praise indeed! Also we were very well looked after by Sian. Most mains seem a bit too rich like the cod pictured but I did find healthy vegetable soup also which was very nice.

We hosted a christening here last weekend and the whole thing was brilliant from start to finish. The buffet was brilliant, the staff were extremely helpful and chipped in to help us set up. Everyone kept talking about how good the sausage rolls were. Thank you to Laura and Lara for your help in planning, Sam, Ryan and John for your service on the day and all the chefs for the fantastic food. Will highly recommend.

We came for a group Christmas lunch having pre-ordered. Unfortunately the system had messed up the kids' orders and duplicated those, but thankfully we were able to cancel once we realised we had too many starters. The food was mixed. Some dishes were much better than others (take the beef cheek over the cod, terrine over prawns). The kids got quite a lot so for littles you might not need a dish each, especially if you have a fussy eater. They let us bring a birthday cake in and helped us with knife, plates and cutlery to serve. I'd tried the mince pie sundae and it was massive and so indulgent. If you don't have a sweet tooth, don't like cream or don't have a big appetite leave it. It was too much really. Large pub and they gave us a long table at the back with a bench and seats, which was good for us. Lovely decorations. Little bit cold though by the windows behind the bench. Toilets were quite cold too. Service was marvellous. Attentive without being too intrusive.

They keep very good cask ales here. The Greene King IPS and Black Sheep were lovely, and they rotate local Dunham brews in as well. Menu is Chef and Brewer fare, nothing ground breaking but I'm there for the beer!

Unable to say what the food was like. After a waiting for over an hour with our grankids just to order a meal during late afternoon we decided to leave and take them to McDonalds. Such a shame.

Always great for a drink, especially in warm weather when you can sit outside. Food is good & staff are lovely. Itโ€™s a dog friendly bar and one part of the dining area is dog friendly too - need to mention if booking.

The outdoor bit is so nice in summer, great choice of drinks etc and the food was actually very good for a pub, ordered the Korean chicken starter expecting a couple of overpriced, overcooked pieces of meat and it was quite large and surprisingly good!

I ran a business lunch here for 8 people today and it was fantastic. They let me in early to set up, provided excellent service and the food was top notch. I'll be going back. (not bad price too!)

Went for mid day lunch for my wife and I. A party of approx 12 arrived just before us. Other than this party, the place was sparsely populated. We were advised a wait of at least 45 mins. We left and went elsewhere. Suggest not enough lunchtime staff. Lost sales.

After a day at Dunham Massey this place is just perfect, only a couple of minutes drive! Food fabulous, staff great couldn't fault the place. Only one things was we tried to book online for 8 of us and it showed nothing available, so with a bit of persistence eventually finding the phone number and we're booked in, you may lose bookings because of this app issue, and if the app or website actually listed a phone number that would help

Good place for a drink, lots of space too which is handy as quite a few kids and babies for lunch which meant lots of buggys. Food wasn't something that blew us away but OK for pub grub

We have just enjoyed a family meal for 9 and had a wide selection of dishes from the menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal and we were very happy with the service. We preordered our food and this worked really well for a large group. Very happy to recommend The Griffin for large or small groups. Very dog friendly as well.

Me, my wife and daughter ate here on our daughter's recommendation and we're glad we did. The standard menu offered good choices but we all took the opportunity to opt for the specials board. The food was delicious. The vegetarian and vegan options were particularly welcome. In short, The Griffin is highly recommended if you are looking for friendly staff and great food

A nice locals pub, in a posh and beautiful area. Food is good and the staff friendly. 15 mins walk from Altrincham or Hale. Good place to meet friends for a walk to Dunham Massey.
