Go and see the 'tapestry' made for the millennium. Most of Knutsford seems to have stitched a bit! And take time to watch the video and absorb a part of the history that is England. Find out why King Canute threw sand down for a wedding party. The staff are always lovely, and even sport an Iowan accent!!

Knutsford Heritage Center is one of my best memories 12 (or more) travels in England. We visited Knutsford to experience ELIZABETH Gaskell’s world. After a very interesting and heart-warming introduction from a very elegant lady (maybe a volunteer), we were more than excited to “hire” a guide from the center to have an excursion of Gaskell Trail. The fee was ridiculously low: 5 pounds each, which means only 10 pounds all together. We visited significant places around this charming town, knowing a lot of historical cites and friendly people, including a barman that offered my husband a glass of water on the “command” of our lady guide. Free of charge, of course. I have been to hundreds of cities and towns around the world, and Knutsford Heritage Centre was one of the few that made me really felt like home. I really appreciate the three senior ladies’ kind help. Wish them happiness and best health.

Worth visiting this small museum just to see the Millennium Tapestry! It's an embroidered panorama of everyday life in and around Knutsford stitched by its residents and the detail is amazing! I also found the Royal May Day exhibition really interesting. Lots of old photos and info about its history and customs plus dresses and crowns of former May queens. The lady in the gift shop was very informative. Some nice gifts including Elizabeth Gaskell books and jigsaws of the Tapestry. The museum is free to enter but donations are much appreciated.

Don't normally do heritage... but you must visit to see the Knutsford Millennium Tapestry. Awesome. Some great history of the Royal May Queen festival too... Not sure about buying a tapestry coaster or 1000 piece jigsaw, but don't walk past, pop in.

Lovely old buildings on King Street. Immaculate gardens and a fascinating insight into May Day, Sanding, and an incredible huge tapestry of Knutsford 2000.

We went on the heritage town walk for £5. Very enjoyable afternoon. There is also a town trail and small museum.

Behind the discreet entrance lies a marvellous heritage centre, manned by enthusiastic and well-informed staff who clearly promoted the historic significance of KNUTSFORD (ref. CNUT). Many items on show including a 3-wall tapestry. Impressive indeed!

A hidden gem on Knutsford. Well worth a visit for the tapestry alone.
