I had my operation last Saturday and spent 2 nights on the Chester Ward. Honestly I had the best experience I could have had. From my arrival I was shown to my own room by a porter, and as first on the list I saw a steady stream of visitors until I walked down to theatre. Dr Ibrahim who was my anaesthetist was just fantastic. He made me feel at ease, genuinely cared about what I had to say, and came in on the Sunday to make sure I was recovering from the GA ok. Prof Senapati who did my op was just as fantastic. He was knowledgeable, thorough and patient. The biggest thing for me was the nurses and other staff on the ward including the cleaners, catering staff and the bariatric team. In particular Amy, Rhiannon and Charlotte stood out. When I came around from the GA they were there to reassure me, and nothing at all was too much trouble. I’d highly recommend anyone to use the hospital for surgery. I had such a great experience I was almost sad to leave and go home lol. The covid procedures in place are outstanding. Every member of staff followed the PPE guidance, and I felt really safe and cared for. Thank you Chester Ward and the Alex 🙂

Amazing staff - everyone. The receptionists, the concierge, the porters, the cleaners, the healthcare assistants, the student nurses, the caterers, the physiotherapist, and all of the nursing staff! And, of course, the consultant surgeon, Mr Amit Kumar and the consultant anaesthetist, Dr Kingsley Enohumah, who were both amazing at reassuring me. I will not forget their kindness. I was so very nervous as it’s my first ever surgery at the grand old age of 44. Everyone was so kind, friendly, professional and at pains to reassure me. I felt safe and in very good hands. On the hottest day of the year, all staff rallied together - what fantastic team work. Oh and the food was delicious and I was ready for it post op! Thanks to all on the Lancaster Ward for really looking after me. I don’t think I could have chosen a better hospital.

I recently had Rezum surgery at Alexandria hospital with Mr Adeyoju. I can't believe my good fortune to have as amazing, knowledgeable, and caring surgeon. I was suffering from urinary problems for at least 10 years. My life was miserable. Now, after three months following surgery, he has helped me win my life back. Hopefully you will never have problems to pee, pain, burning, frequent urination, urinary retention, urinary tract infections all due to an enlarged prostate. Rezum is not always the best option, but in my particular case, Mr Adeyoju has really helped, and cannot thank him enough. The nursing staff and all those who are responsible to take care of patients are absolutely top notch. I can never thank you all individually but please know you are all so very much appreciated!!

I have been going to the Alex for past couple of months for treatment for a blood disorder , everybody is so welcoming and professional. I would like to say a massive thanks to Helen and Debs a real special team , they are really switched on and make the visit so laid back, it is a pleasure attending once a week to go and give blood , I never thought I would say that ! Helen always finds the “juicy”vein and not once has it been uncomfortable . Thanks ladies and all the team you are 5 stars all the way .

I was very pleased with the treatment I received. It helped me to feel much more relaxed. The only thing that could have been better was my room was cold when I arrived and no heating was on. It took sometime for the room to warm up so I had to sit for a while with my coat and hat on.

Human courtesy excellent , Treatment ( so far , early days ) excellent , Room, bed , food all excellent . Gowned and ready by 11.35am , advised shortly after lunch that i would be next around 3pm( ish ) heard nothing until 5.30pm ish told would be around 6.45pm which it was , moved to overnight ward and treated very well , but hadn't really planned on overnight stay , such is life , there are others to consider as well as me and sometimes timings go a little wrong ...Just perhaps better communication would have eased the waiting /concern ...All in All ..Very Good !

Having opted to self pay for my operation due to long NHS waiting time, I found the process after contacting the Alexandra hospital very easy. I had chosen the consultant recommended by a friend. The hospital has excellent facilities. The service I received prior to the operation was very thorough . My stay on the Chester Ward whilst I had my operation I cannot fault. The care and dedication shown by the staff was exemplary. From catering , physio , nurses and Dr's nothing was to much trouble , I was looked after until I was fit for discharge. I was lucky to have one nurse for the entire duration called Donna and she was amazing and also Antonio. I would highly recommend the hospital just for the staff alone.

Had spinal surgery here on the 5th November and stayed in the Stafford Suite. All the staff were superb and couldn't do enough to help and make you feel comfortable. The meals were amazing as were the nursing staff, in particular Julie and Marie.

I just wanted to say The team at the Alexandra oncology department are totally amazing! The care and support they show us is second to none. Nothing is to much trouble and they’re always there to listen and help in anyway they can. The team compliment each other and work so hard for all their patients. I can’t thank them enough for their on going work compassion and support!! 5 stars 🌟

I have been a patient at The Alex Hospital from Friday to Monday, having a total hip replacement. The care and attention I have received, has been of the highest quality. ALL staff, with whom I came into contact have been very helpful, with no sign of impatience, when being understandably very busy in their routines. I really cannot fault the professional, caring approach I have received. All my queries have been answered fully, to reassure me. I will always remember my stay, as being a very reassuring experience, at what was for me, a very anxious time in some ways. Thank you all so much.

Superb hospital with all COVID-19 protocols in place. Felt very safe and reassured during my stay as an inpatient. All the staff from the cleaners right up to the consultants are really nice, chatty and help you feel relaxed within the hospital environment. The food was lovely and had a good variety. The nurses on Stafford Suite really looked after me. I couldn’t fault anything about The Alexandra Hospital and would highly recommend this to any of my family and friends.

Could not have asked for a better experience under the circumstances. Mr Slade Dr Shaw and nursing team in particular Linda(nights) Nimrod Paul & Helen were extremely attentive and helpful. Rooms ICU & high dependency were excellent, nicer than some hotels I have stayed in. Had a very comfortable stay with outstanding care. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering choosing this hospital.

I am a patient on Richmond, attending for weekly chemo. The team are absolutely fantastic and cannot do enough to look after you and make you feel comfortable in what are otherwise tough times. It’s a peaceful environment and everyone works really hard to make treatments pass as comfortably as possible. I’m delighted with my choice of where to have my treatment and would recommend it without hesitation.

If I can give the staff on MRI at the Alexandria Hospital more than five stars I will give them because they deserve it. I did my MRI scanning today and I saw the staff on the MRI they were so kind and polite and really helpful I really appreciate it. I was nervous a little bit because it was my first time doing an MRI. And the staff was very polite and made me comfortable. Everything was clean in the MRI and they teached me all the things that I had to do. So thank you so much for the Team stuff. And also thank you so much for the Alexandra Hospital.

Wow ! Nothing could have been done better. My care from ALL members of the Medical staff from each and every status, position…including the catering staff - ensuring that I not only chose, but received the right foods. The porter Stephen were all more than outstanding in their service and care towards me. Nothing was too much for anyone. The whole experience started from the lovely staff on front reception to Stephen bidding me goodbye at the car when leaving. Thank you so much Ange , care support for the happy sing-a- longs as you helped me with tasks. All the best to everyone ! and a special thank you to my brilliant and caring Surgeon Mr Ellis and Secretary Ann Owen 🙌 Joan Williams-Condor

Surgeon and his team were great. The nursing staff however…. Terrible. I’m lucky enough that I’ve had 4 surgeries, all at private hospitals and this was by far my worst experience. The care giving by the nursing staff was appalling. I was left in agony, my buzzer removed, unable to go the toilet and had to wet the bed and lie there in soiled sheets crying. Truly appalling and I will not return to this hospital for any future surgeries because if it. Shame because the surgeon and theatre staff were lovely but the after care was terrible. Traumatisingly bad!

I was in hospital for a day case admission, I found the treatment was mostly a good. I found the Consultant and nurse in-charge really professional which in turn made me feel confident I was being cared for. Some areas of my visit were not handled as professionally as I have experienced in NHS hospitals. A nurse made what I felt were inappropriate jokes which I found uncomfortable and particularly insensitive given the procedure I was having done. Perhaps more professional oversight of staff, particularly as there was a trainee nurse present when this conversation happened.

I have just arrived home from this wonderful place the Alexandra hospital, from the minute I entered your doors at 7am this morning all your staff from the receptionist, Porter through to the nurses and theatre staff I could not have been treated better. All the staff made me feel completely reassured about my treatment a very clean environment too. Mr Richardson my consultant is a lovely gentleman kept me informed about my treatment, I felt in very safe hands. Your staff are amazing thank you so much, I will highly recommend your hospital.

Communication prior to my visit was very poor. I had to ring the hospital to find out when the Pre-op assesment was. I found out it was scheduled for the next day when I had a business meeting. The appointment letter was missed as "cblease via Circle" as a subject heading meant nothing to me.

The staff were amazing from the porter Jason who showed us to our room, the nurses Becky and Phil who cared for our daughter and Dr Fagbemi her physician who made sure she understood the procedures. The anaesthetic staff were fantastic, both in the prep room and recovery. They even made sure Red the Ted could accompany her to theatre and dressed him up! The whole team made the stay a fun experience and not at all daunting which could have easily been the case. Thank you to everyone.

I’m currently recovering from wrist surgery at the Alexandra hospital Cheadle . All the staff are so nice and kind and can’t do enough for you. My nurse over the night I think was Jusie she kept taking my obs throughout the night when all I wanted to do was sleep but she was really polite and extremely professional. I had to get someone ( Matt ) to butter my toast as I had no movement in my hand. Julie was the nurse in charge that morning was super nice and explained the discharge process with making sure I had my pain medication. But all credit to Miss Hajipour for the support and encouragement before she operated.

All of the nurses and physio on the ward were excellent. Kind, caring and experienced. There was just one incident where a trainee almost pulled my stitches apart when changing the dressing. The nurse in charge stopped her. It might have been good to have asked for my consent for a trainee to practice on me before starting. Apart from that, everyone else were amazing, particularly Maddie who cared for me during the nights. Thank you.

Visited today with our little boy to have a minor operation. All the staff were amazing... we couldn't have asked for any more. Everything was clearly explained and our son felt completely comfortable having his procedure... in fact he didn't want to leave when the time came to go home! Thank you to everyone involved. 100% recommend this hospital.

I cannot praise, thank, or rain down enough adulation to Ellie Richardson (Physiotherapist). I suffered terribly with unbearable shoulder pain which came from out of nowhere and was ultimately diagnosed to be a nerve issue (Parsonage Turner). Ellie was appointed as my physio very early on when I was still in the initial investigative stages, and she pushed and pushed other consultants to see me, to report back their findings swiftly, and encourage the consultants to discuss with each other. Without her pursuing, I cannot be sure that the root cause would have ever been found as the condition itself is rare. Ellie kept in communication with me, she constantly explored new exercises to try, and worked with me to find stretching and strengthening routines that I could include through my days to try to lessen the pain and increase movement. I have no doubt that if I had seen a less committed, knowledgeable or dedicated practitioner then things would have likely been a very different story. In the end, as injections, tablets and various other treatments had been unsuccessful, and surgery was looking like the only option, we went full bore and I basically did the exercises that Ellie gave me morning, noon and night, and any other time I could find! Thankfully, we managed to prompt the muscle to activate so much that they in turn prompted the nerves to start regenerating and eventually I started to regain strength and mobility in the arm. I am now over a year on and I would say that my arm is probably 90-95% of where it was originally. Bearing in mind that at it's worst it was around 20%, and there was every possibility that it wouldn't improve beyond 50%, I am beyond pleased!!! As a rock climber, it is pretty imperative I have two working arms, and as they were it looked unlikely at one point that I would ever be climbing again. I am now back to climbing 4 times a week and have climbed bigger, harder projects than ever before. Ellie is a super well rounded individual, her knowledge is second to none, she is motivating, is able to tailor routines to your abilities and strengths and also make them things that you want to do and find easy to include in your day, she is compassionate and caring and clearly loves what she does and getting to the bottom of the cause, rather than just treating the symptoms. I could go on all day as I literally cannot speak highly enough of Ellie. When I thought things were over, she helped me get back on track in months. Thank you Ellie, you really are a hero!!

The only negative experience of my stay at the Alexandra hospital was the shower in my room. The quantity of hot water was excellent. Unfortunately the shower tray was unable to drain the shower tray adequately, resulting in the entire bathroom floor becoming flooded. This caused me concern, crossing a wet floor, on crutches with a newly fitted knee. Overall my treatment and stay were first class. From Mr Kim, the nurses, physios, pharmacist and domestic staff and porter. All excellent. All we're helpful, respectful and really helped me in my recovery. My thanks to one and all.

I was bed bound so had to use a bed pan . The nurse will put it under me , lying down and leave . And come back and remove it. Didn’t wipe me or asked if I wanted a wash . I had to ask for water to drink . I didn’t feel the care was as good as it should be from a private hospital. The best person to care for me was the physiotherapist

During my son’s stay we Yvonne, his nurse, was amazing. She put us both at ease, provided all of the information we required, she gave my son the opportunity to see the mask that would be used during his procedure and the cannula. The anaesthetist and the consultant were equally as helpful and really put us both at ease at a stressful time. Once the procedure was complete Yvonne ran through everything that would happen next, and to let her know when my son was hungry. On discharge we were provided with all the relevant information and I felt confident in what to do if we had any problems.

From start to finish my experience was amazing, and to say that whilst being in a hospital is pretty good going on circle health group! The staff were all so attentive, caring, helpful and happy. It was lovely to see all staff including porters, cleaners, catering staff, anaesthetists, nurses and surgeons all to be so passionate about what they do day in day out. It was clear the hospital is ran extremely well, with high standards across every department and ward. I have spent most of my life in and out of hospitals, both nhs and private and can honestly say my experience at The Alexandra Hospital has been by far my best!

I accompanied my partner for treatment at The Alexandra Hospital and was extremely impressed by the hospital and every staff member involved in all aspects of the service and treatment. The hospital is extremely well organised, with every aspect of a patient's treatment professionally managed and delivered by highly skilled, kind and caring people. Patients have both privacy and dignity. The facilities are very comfortable and well thought out for both patients and visitors. Nutrition is a very important aspect of a person's recovery and the food provided by the hospital is freshly made, delicious and healthy. The Alexandra is a great hospital, which I would highly recommend to anyone who has a choice of facilities.

I have recently seen a neurology consultant at this hospital and had an MRI scan and an EEG. On each occasion, the quality of care has been excellent. I was nervous about the MRI head scan, being quite claustrophobic, but the gentleman in charge of my scan was lovely and reassuring and ensured I was as comfortable as possible. My EEG was carried out by a lovely lady called Barbara, who again made me feel very comfortable and made the experience as stress-free as possible.

I have had a microdiscectomy on Tuesday 28/3/23 at the Alexander hospital. The porter took me to my room on the Stafford ward and showed me where everything was. I was first down to theatre and felt very comfortable. My aneathatist was very good and listened to my concerns. Surgery went well and back on the ward I was looked after by Marie and Emily, absolutely lovely ladies. Very caring, approachable and on the ball. My consultant Mr Holland has been amazing throughout, came to see me after surgery and the next morning. Felt very safe in his hands. Overall a great experience. I would recommend highly and would definitely go back again if I ever needed to. Thank you everyone who took part in my care and my Alex journey xxx

Our little boy had his tonsils out at The Alexandra last week. Every member of the team from the porter to the surgeon was so kind and thorough in their care of our son. The surgeon and the anaesthetist came to see us before and after the surgery and the nursing staff were amazing on the children’s ward. Phil and Laura looked after us all on the day and were so professional and reassuring to us as worried parents. We even got a phone call from Phil the day after surgery to ask after our son which was really appreciated. If you can - choose the Alexandra - the care is outstanding!

Everything was as expected and as described. The staff, Doctors, Consultants and Nurses were all highly professional friendly and explained all I needed to know before each stage of the operation began. Absolutely cannot fault this hospital. From the moment my wife arrived with my daughter (age 6) to the moment they left they were treated with the best care and attention. Porters showed them to their room, and they were very quickly introduced to every member of staff that they would be having contact with. By 8:30am they were called to theatre and a huge shout out to Yvonne and Phil in paediatrics ENT who not only were phenomenal with our daughter, but were also amazing at supporting my emotional wife once my daughter was under. Highly recommend this hospital 5*

I attended the Walk In Clinic yesterday morning and was treated very kindly by the nurses and doctor. I had an accident on the way to hospital, not my reason for going, no injuries from, but I was very anxious and there care was of the highest quality. When I saw the doctor he also was lovely and put my mind at rest(I thought I had melanoma, thankfully not!) They were truly amazing. Thank you.

I recently had an operation at The Alexandra. From the moment I arrived I received first class service and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and on the whole the experience was very positive. My operation went well and I experienced no sickness and managed to enjoy my excellent three course lunch - I didn’t expect to manage to eat anything, so that was a bonus! The only negative was my room was opposite the staff room and unfortunately I heard a lot of talking etc and wasn’t able to sleep very well, a very kind physio gave me some ear plugs and the problem was solved. I also would have liked to have had some information regarding my operation and how to manage at home. I have since rung requesting a call to advise me. I’d like to thank everyone for looking after me so well and doing a great job!

Our overall experience with BMI Alexandria Hospital has been a positive one. My wife received all the care and attention required while going through the major surgery. I am thankful to Kelly, Anisa and all the nurses (apologies I do not remember the names of the other nurses) at Chester Ward for the prompt attention they provided throughout my stay.

I am very happy with the service. Jo the nurse on duty was fantastic. Very friendly and down to earth. She really put my mind at ease and nothing was a problem for her. Jo was very knowledgeable on the topic of my procedure and went to great lengths to explain what will happen, possible pain or discomfort, my choices on sedation etc. She was also very pleasant to my child and partner. My daughter left with a positive attitude on hospitals and nurses :) The lady taking me to the surgical room (name unknown) discussed my questions and queries about the procedure but then immediately changed to a "small talk" conversation when we entered the lift as there was another person with us. This was to protect my privacy and dignity. This shows that the staff member is very observant and aware of her surroundings and my confidentiality. Amazing. The surgical team were great. They got the procedure over and done with smoothly with no problems. Again, very friendly and professional. I even wished to see my procedure on screen for morbid curiosity. It gave me something to do whilst I was busy coughing and gagging. I am glad that I was able to experience this! The catering lady saw I was really hungry after surgery and gave a me a few extra biscuits along with my order. Very appreciated! The food was really tasty. I had a lovely panini. Overall, I have had a great experience and the staff are superb. Please pass my compliments to the team.

Every member of staff was amazing, nothing was too much trouble, they all seemed to go about their duties with a smile on their face. The rooms were great, the food was outstanding and the staff just made sure you felt relaxed about everything. Claire the physio listened to me and made sure that I was safe at all times. If I felt I had done too much she would get a chair for me, but she would also let me do more if I felt I could. As far as I can see professor Bari has done an amazing. It's also nice to know that just because I was an NHS patient I didn't get treated any different from the private ones. I didn't want to leave.

Exceptional care with friendly staff and everyone being an all round star. Everyone from the surgeon to the anaesthetist to the nurses spent time with us to ensure everything went well. Would highly recommend this hospital.

The whole team were incredible. Mr Li and the anaesthetic explained everything to me. The nurses were incredible. Sharon in the operating room kept me calm and held my hand. Joy who worked the night shift was amazing. Nothing was too much for her. Andrea the daytime nurse was also fantastic. I can’t sing the hospital and staff’s praises highly enough.

My son was a day patient for a small operation. I can't recommend the team enough. The level of care from Phil, Lauren and the team on the children's ward was amazing. Thank you so much for looking after us so well.

I was very well looked after at the Alexandra. I am a retired healthcare professional, and realise that everything that could be done, was being done, in order to keep me safe. Every member of staff I spoke to was friendly, professional and courteous. I was made to feel welcome and reassured. The staff on the Chester Suite were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. I cannot praise them highly enough. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Fox as a Cardiac Surgeon, and the Alexandra Hospital to my friends and family.

My name is Julie - Google uses Louise! From walking in to check in at 7am you were greeted with a smile. After being taken to your room by the porter a nurse came in straight away to book you in and say hello. Everyone always asked how you were feeling. I was having surgery for Breast Cancer so it was an anxious time, but I was put at ease. Visits from my Consultant Mr Harvey to talk me through the procedure again and reassuring me about the day. I had then had numerous appointments/procedures ahead of my surgery and everyone was friendly, kind and treated with so much dignity. I cannot thank the team enough from start to finish the care I received. I was very upset as it was my daughters Prom night and I’d told the Nurses she was coming in to see me and they printed off Prom posters and put them up around my room for when she came in. It was so sweet and they made it really special. I cannot thank the team enough and going forward in my treatment I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be. Thank you so much forever in my gratitude. Julie

I was extremely impressed from the beginning to when I was being discharged. Each nurse who looked after me was so kind and caring. Especially the one on the Friday she made chat and helped me with pain relief. I really did enjoy my stay as being at hospital can be a daunting experience but this definitely wasn’t. The food was amazing just the wind wasn’t but the nurse helped with giving me the right medication. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I felt so lucky to have received the care that I did. Dr performed a great op and the anaesthetist was rather jolly again made me feel at ease. Thanks again x

I was under the care of 3 excellent surgeons but sadly suffered a number of complications post surgery including temperature increase, nausea. The care o received from both the nursing team on Chester ward and the doctors on duty as well as my surgeons was second to none. I was given such a high level of care and support both during my stay and subsequently. The care since has continued to be excellent as I have suffered a fluid build up and infections. I couldn’t thank the team enough

Some care needs to be taken that room doors are closed when discussions are being made about a patients condition/medication etc. I heard at least one conversation of this type from my own room. Otherwise, everything was handled excellently. The catering lady in particular gave great service with just the right amount of interaction to make you feel comfortable and happy (I wish I could remember her name to send her some personal thanks !!)

The ward I was on was very busy and staff appeared overworked, often took a long time to answer the call button. The service from the nurses/staff was variable depending on the person, some were very helpful & friendly, others less so. I also had a big issue on early release from the hospital trying to get the right medicine to take home for pain relief which was frankly unnecessary. Overall I have had better stays at the Alex and I wonder if the ward was staffed at the correct level for the number of patients.

There was a noticeable lack of communication among various individuals during my stay. The operation took place at 8:30 pm instead of the scheduled 5:30 pm, causing confusion. Additionally, I was expecting some food to be brought to my room upon my return, but unfortunately, nothing arrived until the next morning when I had breakfast. Furthermore, my shoes went missing when I visited the theater. These incidents highlight a lack of communication and internal management. However, despite these challenges, I must commend the doctors, nurses, and other staff members for their kindness and assistance. I am truly grateful to them and would like to express my appreciation.

The total experience was excellent. Of course the primary purpose was the operation which was undertaken with great care but before and aftercare greatly helped in the process and made recovery much easier and more comfortable. Staff commitment is tremendous.

I found the whole experience of my care at the Alexandra prompt, efficient and very professional . The hospital atmosphere is very calm and reassuring with staff at pains to make you feel comfortable. My surgery was very clearly explained to me and the possible outcomes post surgery. Overall, I am very pleased with my treatment.

Myself and family members have visited the Alexandra on several occasions, and the care is absolutely faultless. The staff are always incredibly welcoming and attentive. Nothing is ever too much trouble. They go out of their way to ensure you receive the care you require to the highest standards. I cannot recommend them enough. They are a shining example of how healthcare should be delivered. Thank you.
