On
arrival
at
14:50
hrs
we
were
greeted
by
who
I
believe
to
be
the
manager
stating
“check
in
isn’t
until
3pm
otherwise
I’ll
have
to
charge
you
extra.”
She
advised
we
could
wait
for
10
minutes
in
the
neighbouring
restaurant.
On
the
way
to
the
restaurant
area
we
used
the
toilet
facilities.
They
were
incredibly
tired
and
unclean.
Sadly,
the
restaurant
area
followed
suit,
and
was
generally
grubby
and
the
floor
was
dirty.
While
I
appreciate
that
the
time
of
year
means
people
bring
dirt/salt
in
on
their
footwear,
considering
that
there
was
at
most
another
10
people
in
the
large
area,
it
felt
very
much
like
it
hadn’t
been
cleaned
for
some
time.
The
table
we
sat
at
in
the
bar
area
was
no
cleaner.
We
returned
to
check
in
just
after
15:00hrs
and
were
allocated
room
30
on
the
ground
floor.
On
arrival
to
our
room
the
first
thing
we
noticed
was
the
smell,
which
can
best
be
described
as
a
cross
between
damp
and
overpowering
air
freshener.
The
room
was
grubby,
much
like
everywhere
else,
but
our
intention
was
to
leave
our
bags
and
then
catch
a
train
into
Manchester
for
a
few
hours
-
and
that
is
what
we
did.
A
very
early
flight
meant
we
intended
to
return
and
have
an
early
night.
On
returning
to
our
room
a
number
of
hours
later,
and
carrying
out
a
closer
inspection,
it
really
was
very
dirty.
The
worst
was
the
presence
of
an
unknown
liquid
on
some
of
the
wall
surfaces,
at
body/chest
height.
It
takes
a
lot
to
stop
the
imagination
running
away
with
itself
regarding
what
the
liquid
could
have
been.
The
bathroom
was
also
grubby,
and
didn’t
leave
the
feeling
of
being
a
particularly
hygienic
place
to
wash
and
shower.
Nevertheless
we
retired
to
bed
for
an
early
night,
going
to
have
a
restful
sleep.
Unfortunately
that
was
not
to
happen.
Someone
arrived
in
the
room
above,
and
we
heard
every
movement
they
made
on
our
ceiling,
and
that
continued
well
into
the
early
hours.
I
don’t
think
they
were
a
particularly
noisy
person,
just
the
hotel
is
past
its
best
and
not
really
fit
for
purpose.
Alongside
the
noise
from
above,
we
heard
a
number
of
conversations
someone
in
the
room
next
door
was
having,
presumably
on
their
telephone.
I
will
add
that
neither
of
us
are
light
sleepers.
Getting
out
of
bed
at
02:30
to
get
ready
for
our
early
flight,
the
concerns
over
the
bathrooms
lack
of
hygiene
were
realised,
the
shower
being
average
at
best
and
not
leaving
us
feeling
particularly
refreshed
after
at
most
a
couple
of
hours
of
disturbed
sleep.
The
hotel
isn’t
expensive,
however
nor
is
it
cheap.
If
you
can
afford
to,
and
want
a
restful
night
before
an
early
flight,
do
yourself
the
courtesy
of
booking
a
better
hotel
-
we
certainly
won’t
be
staying
here
again
as
it
well
and
truly
took
the
shine
off
the
start
of
our
trip,
causing
the
first
day
to
be
challenging.
Finally,
for
the
cost
of
an
open
return
into
Manchester
City
Centre
set
at
only
approximately
£10
for
2
people,
please
consider
that
and
all
the
eateries
on
offer
there
if
you
can,
rather
than
at
the
attached
“restaurant.”
