Had a lovely afternoon here with family and friends. We had the sharing platter and sharing nachos which were both really nice. Nice atmosphere and would go back. An update on my 5 star review, despite paying for parking both my friend and I have now been fined £85. The fine says we’ve not paid, we have proof we have but you can’t speak to anyone and emails don’t get replied too. I will NEVER step foot in this pub again. Two hours on the pub has now cost an additional £170.

I called in Today with my Younger Sister, we came for Lunch at 1.00 on a Thursday afternoon. I ordered a Guinness, only to be told "It was off" so I settled for a Lager. We ordered a Burger and Fish n Chips only to be informed, (after Paying) that there was No Fish available 😑 I ordered an 8oz Steak To be "Medium" cooked. When our Food arrived my Sister's Burger was Cold, I was given an Ordinary knife, I tried to cut into my Steak, it was Solid.. I finally cut a Piece and it was Bloody.. so I took my Meal to the Bar and asked to Speak to the Manager... the Barman, a very young man said, "I'll find her when I'm done here" the young server came passed and I asked him to return my Meal as I requested a "Medium" Steak. He agreed it wasn't "Medium" I also asked for a Steak knife. He returned some time Later with the Same COLD Chips, burnt COLD Tomatoes and my original cutlery. Minus a Steak knife. They had in fact re-Fried the Steak so it was now much Darker... yet Still Very Red and Bloody in the Middle. I enclose a Photo of said Steak. Unfortunately I didn't read previous reviews. If I had, I wouldn't be writing this Review as I certainly wouldn't have Come here Today. As I will Most CERTAINLY NOT be returning. It was a Complete Sham and possibly my most unpleasant Lunch experience EVER.

I haven't been here since well before the pandemic. There weren't many choices for vegetarians and the menu itself seemed rather less ambitious. Having said that the food was very good and the waitress worked very hard and was very pleasant. I just get the feeling that the place is under different management now and have not yet got up to speed with a more varied and exciting menu. So out of five possible stars I have deducted one for this. The other star I have deducted is because of the use of walkie talkie radios by the staff. This would be tolerable if you were eating outside to cover a large outdoor area, but for the life of me I could not understand why our waitress had to have one when she was mere feet from the bar and kitchen door. It was loud and screechy and completely destroyed the general ambience of a cosy country pub. I wish them luck with building up a more agreeable service, but I won't be eating there again without checking the menu on Google beforehand. Sorry

Wanted to come for a nice bank holiday lunch. Ordered 2 sandwiches with 2 portions of fries and it took from 13-14.15 pm to receive the order…over an hour. All because the order was not placed on the correct table by the those at the bar. As we were only drinking water and lime and soda, it did not feel like an adequate solution to give us a free drink. I request a refund for part of the food and was told by one of the servers this was not possible. I asked to speak with the manager to be told she was too busy in the kitchen and unable to come out. On the assistant manager coming out she could do nothing further for us because the food had now arrived, even if it was an hour and half late, wrong and quite frankly some dry chicken, overcooked bacon and no Mayo ‘sub’ which was actually a panini. The assistant manager ‘apparently’ would be fired if. she gave a refund to us which wouldn’t allow her to feed her family. Completely wrong to bring personal life into a professional environment. All in all, one of the worst pubs we’ve been in would not recommend to anyone.

Would just like to say a massive massive thank you to Michelle and her team at the jacksons boat For going above and beyond for giving the local rehab centre their first works party in 3years. You well and truly pulled it out the bag. You dressed the pub perfectly to a high standard, you served the 3 course meal professionally and the atmosphere was amazing. You truly have made some memories for us all. We all thank you do much and will be recommending you to many 🎉 the new manager is an asset to the jacksons boat you really have turned the place around 😀

We have been coming for a few years and although the garden area and dog friendly the food is awful and overall service is very poor.. A great shame considering its got so much potential to better its whole business came today to be told stock of spirits and wine were not available and no food. Needs alot of work commitment before it loses business

I’ve been here before, but never been caught by such heavy rain. Sarah (the assistant manager) is fantastic. She let people in when it was absolutely pouring down and everyone was able to keep cosy. Staff and management are all fantastic and friendly.

Amazing Hidden Place, came across this place on a off chance. What a lovely bunch of staff, working hard and keep the place superb with Amazing Continuous Smiles all day, absolute credit to management. Everywhere gleams and shines and is incredibly clean, helpful and very welcoming. Got to admit even the loos were the best ive been in ......in a long time, puts spoons loos to shame hahaha. Live music I was told, bouncy castle, kids park, outside and inside seating. Really worth going 👏

On a nostalgia fest, as I came here as a toddler and youngster decades ago with my family. Very popular place. Food and Drink: I didn't eat in as only start serving at 12 and the bar staff couldn't tell me (or ask) what was vegetarian. I had a lovely hot Latte. Range of soft and alcoholic drinks and some snacks. Seating: Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (some covered by the tent. Very friendly customers and dog friendly space. Atmosphere: Historic pub with lots of interesting items inside, slightly spoiled outside by in your face signage fixed to the wall. Play Area: Children's play area. Accessibility: Mixed, alternate routes. Getting There: Walking: From the various Meadows, both sides (Chorlton and Sale) of the River Mersey. Tram: Sale Water Park a reasonably short walk up the road. Bike: Bring your own or there us a hire shop close to the pub, or by Car. Car Parking: Riadside Pay and Display, Patrons register car inside for free parking.

We had the Jackson boat burger, it looked amazing shame it didn't taste like that. The burgers were oozing with grease and weren't very nice. Some of the chips/wedges were still hard in the middle. The only thing we enjoyed were the onion rings, they were really nice. We didn't have a dessert. The place is clean, and the staff were nice. It's also dog friendly.

Lovely little pub, our first visit today we brought our yorkies we both loved it, staff were super friendly I'm not sure who owned the place before but it seems they've really turned the place around , food was spot on and very reasonably priced we were treated like family , sean made us feel very welcomed, we was informed he's only been there 2 weeks he was an absolute star , there was a big fundraiser on when we arrived lost of community spirit, and food was still served promptly. will definitely be visiting again, thanks for all the hard work guys! x

Absolutely waste of time. Been here so many times in the past and was always fine. Came for a Boxing Day walk as I have done so many times before. Mistake. Absolutely freezing inside, no heating. In the past the fire has been on and it has been a nice atmosphere, but not this time. It was warmer outside than it was inside. The table was cleared by a member of staff when we asked, but not cleaned. Queued at the bar for over 15 minutes, massively understaffed for Boxing Day. When tried to order food, everything we wanted was not available, but there was no mention of this anywhere until after you have queued for ages. Absolutely horrible, run down and lack of facilities. Don’t bother coming here.

Nice place to visit on a sunny day being able to sit in the large beer garden under the canopy. Food isn't great, i ordered a tuna panini, was OK nothing great about it and the same with the pizza, this looked like it was made with a tortilla base very thin and oily. May be a while until we visit again.

Sorry to say that I was disappointed, not with the staff but with my steak! We visited on 22nd December having driven 4 hrs. I ordered the 8oz rump steak with trimmings and peppercorn sauce. On serving us 45 mins later my plate had a tepid steak and a serving of tepid chips. Not good for £16.70. On complaining the staff told me that they had no tomatoes or peppercorn sauce. They kindly removed my meal returning with hot food, good chips with mushrooms and beans. Not sure if we'll return. (I emailed re all this but but 2 weeks later have yet to receive a reply).

Great lunch (steak pie, chips, peas +loads of gravy) for £6.50 (lunchtime special) a delicious bargain in my opinion! Washed down with couple pints real ale, Good company and good staff. Great beer garden too! Highly reccomended. The Wednesday Walkers.

Nice looking pub with big beer garden but the staff are all feckless kids. had a shitly poured Guinness for a start and when I asked for a whiskey lemon soda I got a whiskey LIME soda. if I had known they only had lime I would have got a vodka lime soda as whiskey does not go with lime! also it says the kitchen closes at 7:30 or summat but when I got there at 6 it was already closed. looks sick in here though and nice locaysh.

Muddy dog friendly and family friendly. Clean bathrooms. Friendly staff. Good prices. Peas were not very fresh and salad was plain and somewhat wilted but the pie, chips, lasagne and garlic bread were all very good. Great for after a long walk.

Big pub near the river , great for a quick pint when out walking. It attracts alot of families on warm days as it has a big beer garden with play area. Gets a bit much for me when it's like that but certainly entertaining. Only eaten there once and it wasn't memorable. Probably good for a pizza or snack.

Decent pub with large out door space. Great for a stop off on a trip round sale water park. Kids play area. Food looks decent. If parking there remember to enter your reg into the machines at the bar to avoid an automated charge in the post. I missed it once, easily sorted but an annoyance

Had to queue at one side of the bar to pay for drinks and then queue again at another bar to collect them, but they didn't pour them until I got to the front and told them what I'd ordered? Bizarre. Bar lady was quite abrupt and rude. Attempted to order food and was told "we don't have that", second choice "don't have that", followed up by "we don't have most things" with a completely disinterested attitude. Didn't actually tell me what I could order so I didn't bother.

I booked for an after-funeral afternoon/evening reception. The manager and team were excellent on the day and really put in the effort to be welcoming, accommodating and make a sad day memorable for all the right reasons. Everyone said how perfect the venue was and we felt relaxed and well catered for and I was truly happy I'd picked JB despite some earlier doubts. The ONLY complaint (which I've made known to the manager), is that in the 2 weeks prior to the event, the communications in the way of texts, calls or emails were mostly slow and did cause concern and some anxiety whether the arrangement was reliable. But in the end, we got what was promised and more, and I'd not hesitate to recommend the venue for your event. I do appreciate new management had only just taken over plus ongoing renovations and other challenges but it's important to respond promptly to customers. Shaun, Melissa and crew were simply delightful. Everyone said it was a fantastic, quite perfect venue for our event and the delightful end to a day of celebrating a life. The cost was also reasonable. Despite the sad occasion, there were a lot of smiles and we were well fed, watered and comfortable. Very well done, team JB! You all deserve a raise!
