So glad that I have found a place where the food not only lives up to what you see on Instagram but surpasses it! The food is fresh, flavoursome and fabulous! Special credit to the meatballs. They are DIVINE, literally the best combination of flavours I've had in a while. Staff are nice too and as a solo diner, I was very comfortable. Will definitely eat there again.

Huge fans of Sugo after falling in love when living opposite the Ancoats branch. We frequently trek back across from Leeds to visit and it’s always worth the trip. The wine is delicious - even the standard jug of house wine is a winner. The cuttlefish special is a new favourite (and should be here to stay!) but we’re yet to have anything from the menu that is less than excellent!

We've been eating at Sugo regularly since it opened, and we've never been disappointed. The house Sugo is always outstanding. The menu is short but all the dishes are delicious and the menu is regularly updated. The restaurant has a great atmosphere (worth being aware that this does mean it gets noisy and you can be sharing a table with other customers). Well worth a visit!

We appreciate good authentic food and can distinguish quality dishes, having lived in Italy and travelled the entire country. Sugo’s food is very good (buono!) We love it! Disappointed the menu has changed. We were expecting a nice full plate of our favourite pasta, but was presented with a tapas style approach, with smaller portions, encouraging the dinner to go with their recommendation of three plates! This of course generates more profit for the owner, but in my opinion the traditional way of dinning and having a correct plate size of food has been taken away. It is Italian food not Spanish, with this tapas approach. I paid £16.00 for the fish based pasta, wonderful, but half the size of what you would get 2 months ago. £32.00 (thereabouts) to get a good size plate of this fish based pasta dish (£16.00x2) That is a ridiculous price, coupled with sitting on a bench outside! Sugo’s food is very good , but they should not over price their food through a new approach which does not work, we are not tasting Spanish small dishes we have come to enjoy a normal size plate of good food! They will lose customers!

Really really good, and certainly lived up to the hype. Sat outside (in January) but the cover and heaters made it a perfect experience.

sud was on my list for months! i finally made a reservation this week, and was mind blown. although i was a bit skeptical of the concept of communal dining, i was seated next to a lovely couple who i spoke to for about 10 minutes. the server, beatrice, was a darling who only amplified the experience. she helped me pick a wine to go with my pasta- the paccheri with smoky cruschi peppers. the pasta was phenomenal. it was al dente, and smothered in chilli peppers, parmesan, pangrattato (which i learnt was a replacement for parmesan by the poor in southern italy) and garlic. the wine was not exactly what i had in mind, but it was a fine pairing nonetheless. the highlight of my meal though, was the limoncello which was served in a frosted glass! served traditionally, it made me happy to see that the restaurant lives up to its standards of being an authentic eatery. i ended with the caramel tart. the marsala gave it a warmth and subtle fragrance, and the crème fraiche cut through the sweetness of the caramel. a single grievance of mine would be the tart shell. the pastry was a bit too thin was not flaky or buttery. overall, SUD is a restaurant that is worthy of the recognition and love it receives.

I had an incredible dining experience at this Italian restaurant! The pasta dishes exceeded all my expectations and left me completely satisfied. To start, we indulged in the pork belly ribs, which were exceptionally tender and melt-in-your-mouth. The flavor was perfectly stimulating my appetite. Among the various pasta options, the paccheri 'all'Amatriciana stood out as an absolute favorite. The cured pork cheek complemented the dish perfectly, adding a delicious and savory element to the already tantalizing flavors. The staff at the restaurant were not only friendly but also very polite, enhancing the overall dining experience. We were so impressed by the quality of the food and service that we have already decided to return, specifically to enjoy the paccheri dish once again.

Out of my expectations! We had the broccoli with sourdough starter and it is amazing. This starter is for vegan as well so very impressed! They are very busy so you will definitely need to book a table.

Is it the pasta or the sauce? Set aside any fears of school dinner Mac and cheese, Sugo is on a different level altogether. Having lucked out on getting a table after 2 years of living nearby, I relished the chance to review them. The space is warm but snug. Large parties will struggle especially with COVID restrictions. Not an issue in summer, but a possible one in Winter. They’re dog friendly as they have some seating outside, so please specify this when booking. Onto the primi piatti! Expect luscious pasta cooked to the correct side of al dente. It seems to inhale the sauces that make use of the starch and premium stock in lieu of cream. All making for a far more palatable meal. And the sauce. The term does not do the flavours and texture justice. The melange of spices and components be they vegetarian or not, are sublime. Just a taste of the seafood pasta alone conveyed everything in one bite. Not to be outdone, their beverage selection is nothing short of brilliant. The chinotto brought back fond memories of Kinni cola. Sadly I did not have time to partake of dolce but will endeavour to do so next time.

A lovely atmosphere to go with your lovely pasta. This place is usually listed in one of the top restaurants in Manchester and it deserves its top reputation. It's a cosy setup with some outdoor terrace seating (which has cover from the elements), the pasta is home made and comes in more exotic shapes and sizes than the usual pasta dishes you see at restaurants. The sauces are also a notch higher than those you could make at home which makes it a worthwhile trip. All very yummy. The starters and dessert were also great and tasty. I like the wine by the jug option and it makes decent table wine (more for the social aspect drink wise). Staff are polite and attentive. It is popular so you will need to book ahead (a good week for popular dinner times). It really is a great pasta joint and worth seeking out if you're in the area. There's another branch at ancoats.

One of the best pasta places I’ve ever been too, fantastic open kitchen St. Johns vibe. Great dishes, lovely people, wine by the ceramic jug was fun too.

We got the Strascinate with Tuscan sausage and chocolate nemesis cake. Best pasta outside of Italy, great service, excellent price for the quality of food. DEVINE.

Visited multiple times and it serves the best pasta in Altrincham. Had the Paccheri 'all'Amatriciana' which is good but would recommend the House Sugo which is very tasty. Good service and heaters outside mean you don’t go cold. Book in advance.

Normally I’m not too enthusiastic about going to an Italian restaurant. It’s not that I don’t like Italian food, it’s just generally exactly the same. Italian is Italian is Italian….. SUD pasta however is different. Next to Altrincham market, quite a small place so make sure you book - and expect to be sat at a table with strangers! The tables here are all shared. The food…..wow! Hands down some of the best pasta dishes ever. I had the pasta with a very slow cooked beef ragu. Id happily eat that every day. Not the cheapest place but well worth it.

Great place. Staff know their menu and helped us choose. Pasta dishes were hearty and rich. Lovely atmosphere, feels busy but cosy.

The food was brilliant, the seating was not. Although giving a 3 stars on service the service for food & drinks was perfectly up to standard. However we began the night as they tried to sit us on a table with another couple, this IS NOT what you expect when booking a table at ANY restaurant. We watched another couple bombarded halfway through their meal with a set of 3 new guests added to their date night, seemingly without previously asking if they’d be comfortable with this. Whilst we (me and my girlfriend) were lucky enough to maintain our own table, we were constantly worried every time new guests turned up that they’d be plonked on our table, like they’d originally planned with us despite booking far in advance. This is so wrong and could easily ruin a couple’s plans, seating needs to be seriously revised. All props to the chefs and staff who were clearly working hard to deliver a good night for their customers. But if you’re expecting an intimate date, I seriously would recommend considering elsewhere unless they make changes.

The food was excellent. The only downside was that despite having booked a table for two well in advance, we were put on a small table with another group of people. This was particularly disappointing as we were celebrating a special occasion. At no point was it communicated to us by staff why we were being put on a shared table nor were we asked if it was okay. Felt as though we were being squeezed in.

I came here for a date, booked in advance & gave our card details so we couldn’t cancel. When we arrived we were twice almost placed on the ends of tables with other people on them… fortunately one couple left just as we arrived and so we had a table to ourselves. More customers arrived and were offered the empty seats on our table! I saw another couples meal interrupted by a group of three being squeezed on their table. Booking ahead I would have first expected a table to be reserved for us, and further, to at least be asked whether we mind people being placed on our table. It would seriously have ruined my experience here and it partially did, for worrying about random people sharing my conversation and table. It has put me off coming here again. The food was brilliant, however.

My experience with this shop had been all but positive. Very rustic style of the shop and the food seems to be very tradition and well executed. Absolutely great atmosphere. Menu is composed of specials thay change regularly so you will never be bored here. Absolute gem of Altrincham.

Just lovely food, friendly staff and a great location - what more can I say? What more could you want? Our chef, Mark outdid himself on our visit with a great ham hock special in the BEST stock. Starter, tick, main tick, desert tick, drinks tick. Would wholeheartedly recommend, and will definitely return.

Been wanting to try Sugo for ages and it didn’t disappoint. Pasta was amazing - I had the House Sugo, and now I want to eat it every day. Atmosphere is great, really has the feel of a small local restaurant. Service was excellent, they even cooked up some pasta for my baby to have a taste (and he was just a big of a fan). One of the best meals I’ve had in years!

Being a man with rich Italian heritage, I know my pasta and this place is right up there at the top of my “go to“ for amazing southern Italian pasta. My only complaint if it’s fair to say this is a it’s such a tiny venue it’s almost impossible to get a decent table at a decent time , without weeks of notice but I guess that’s because it’s so good

Absolutely amazing food, house sugo is to die for. A must visit and forget the garlic bread, it will keep vampires away 😋

I'm a big fan of salt, but even I thought the food was too salty. Lots of people in agreement on this in TripAdvisor etc. Nice place and decent food but far far too salty.
