I went to outpatients entrance 5 to do my chest x ray. Wythenshawe hospital is easy to find if you don't drive like me. It's about 5 min walk from the nearby tram station. On arrival I was a bit confused where to go. I asked receptionist which was very brief. I struggled to find where I needed to go as hospital is quite big and it can be quite overwhelming. Eventually I got to the right department. Reception ladies were nice. The nurses were lovely and made me very comfortable. 4 stars for the quick and lovely service. I came early, was don't with my x ray early and stuff was lovely.

They changed my appointment twice. Final appointment was given for early from the last appointment. Brought forward by 2hrs but clinic was running late for 2hr. Just waste of patients time. Should hospital have stuck with previous appointment time. When i raise a concern nurse have directed me to an examination room where no one there, just let me wait further. Anyway they have seen me 2.5hr later. Don't understand the how they manage the clinics.

A hospital and a terrible staff. If you are looking for a place where someone can make fun of you, this is the perfect place. After 3 weeks of bleeding, I was scheduled for an ultrasound. When I arrived at the hospital, I was asked, with the appointment in hand, why I came to the hospital.. I told them, and the nurse looked at me as if I was lying.. Terrible, horrible.. When you sit with pain and bleeding, to be treated like this.. The ultrasound lasted 1 minute, in which he said that nothing was visible, the baby was shown to me for 2 seconds, I didn't see his heart beating, I didn't see anything. Today, the baby measures 6cm, but I had a private ultrasound 4 days ago and the baby was 4cm.. Proof that it was a funny ultrasound. I do not recommend this hospital. I will never come back here. It's horrible.

I Don't know how to thank the staff enough for the care they provided to my wife. These guys are amazing and each and everyone we met was extremely nice and protective. I am really grateful for everything they did for us. The help you are giving to people is just incomparable. You are amazing. God bless you all.

Thank you! After an emergency trip to a&e your staff there cared and got the help we needed, following 2 emergency surgery for a shoulder replacement and a few nights stay on ward F4, staff, nurses and doctors where helpful and put us at ease. You made a very stressful and worrying time much easier by being there when we needed you the most. The car parks are a big issue, not enough parking and most machines are broken, so many times it just lets you out, some days it would work and overcharge you. The nurses on the ward said a new company is taking over parking to sort it out. Hopefully, this is soon as its a nightmare atm. (I can't believe they charge the staff to park! It's bad enough charging the public. Surely hospital parking should be free for all!)

Very very poor. The staff in the hospital are so rude and uncaring it’s untrue. No empathy, no compassion. This starts right from booking in all through your time in a and e. I’ve been sent here so many times by my GP and left after 8 hours because I’ve not seen anyone only to have to admitted through a different route to get treatment. Dreadful dreadful hospital. I’m sick of hearing about the lack of funding in the NHS when you go to wythenshawe and have to listen to triage staff discussing their new boyfriends and sharing photos for 15mins, or healthcare assistants with their heads always i their phones. Reception staff who won’t book in any patients for the last ten mins of their shift and then the new shift comes on and they don’t start work for a good ten mins as they have to get a drink, come back to their desk, go get a pen, and then go and get some things else. All time wasting so they don’t have to start work. I’ve been sent to a and e 6 times in 15 weeks and only been seen once. I’ve had triage tell me I’m wasting time and then been admitted the following day by AMRU and agin in another occasion by SACRU. I can not recommend enough that you go to the MRI

After being turned away from Hope Hospital after waiting over 12 hours to be seen, (5.30pm to 7am) we got told to travel to wythenshawe hospital because they didn't have the correct staff there to treat my son. We arrived at the wythenshawe hospital to be seen and treated straight away and was in and out within 1 hour. He needed an injection, antibiotics and bandages due to a deep wound on his palm. The staff here were polite and disgusted with the treatment my son had been through at Hope Hospital.

Horrible staff and very uncaring, cold and nasty. People need to stop praising their terrible behaviour. They are misdiagnosing people and sending sick people home. They need to be held accountable and addressed. This is so out of control and the doctors are so shrewd, narcissistic and cold they made me actually cry. Someone needs to look into their behaviour asap. They don't need a payrise, they need to be retrained !!

I had been taken to Wythenshawe Hospital after collapsing in the airport. I have to say they were very thorough in checking me out. Service was fast enough and the attention I was provided was efficient. Everyone was friendly and kind. I appreciate the care they provided when I needed them. I can't speak to the overall care in the main hospital as I was in the emergency room but I am satisfied with the care I received.

What can I say? As a hospital, it does what it does and the staff are wonderful. However - the parking is a total joke. Took me 35 mins yesterday to find somewhere, buses were blocking the roads, taxis were parked on pavements waiting for people, and the main car park had barriers blocking entrances. Managed to find a public car park in the end and power walked to my appointment with 1 minute to spare - when I had left work a bit earlier to give me more time. I realise its a busy teaching hospital and we couldnt do without them- but I could have been sent to my local hospital a short walk from home for the same procedure. Just hope I never have to go back x

I visit gastroenterology and endoscopy frequently (sadly) in Wythenshawe. Staff is always very patient, friendly and helpful. This time, visiting during the covid time we live in, the whole hospital was quiet and endoscopy very quiet. I was a bit worried about going to hospital as we have been self isolating, but felt reassured when there. Huge thanks as always to best hospital staff in Britain x

Two very close friends have been misdiagnosed by this disgrace of a hospital in the last week. One was told she had a little bit of cancer that was treatable only to be called back a week later to be told the cancer is everywhere, no apology, noteven admitting they’d made a mistake. DO NOT ATTEND HERE THEY WILL KILL YOU AND NOT CARE. My other friend has been in 6 wards in 7 days and now has two consultants giving contradictory information and not communicating, do not risk your life or your health in this disgusting place filled with lazy rude staff with zero compassion

Was nervous as didn't know what to expect being a first time, but honestly was such an easy procedure I wouldn't hesitate if needed another. I cannot thank the staff at Wythenshawe chest clinic and adult CF unit enough . My consultant Prof Webb is retiring and I want to wish him a wonderful retirement. I owe my life several times over to his expertise . I would recommend this hospital to anyone . And yes I know they are overworked , overstretched and underpaid but much appreciated.

My teenage son was taken to this hospital in an emergency situation, we do not live in this area but were driving on M62. Staff levels to professionalism and care was immaculate from the first point of contact till the care element. I found this hospital to be adequately staffed and fully trained in their professions, including the students nurses on the ward who also like their peers, showed so much compassion and care. We thank you so much for the incredible service you provided to our son and us πŸ––

Nurses need to be reminded that relatives need to be be kept informed of a patient's condition after cardiac surgery, not left dangling outside the ward for hours on end ! The only way we knew dad was ok was when he phoned us ! 1 min of the nurses time to say all went well when he returned to the ward would have been appreciated

Received a letter from them saying that I should have a appointment by a certain date regarding a deteriorating health condition due to unforeseen circumstances, date came and went so I phoned the number to ask what was happening only to be told that I need to wait for an appointment because there's a very long list, oh yeah I have loads of time to do that love! No idea when I will get seen. Very unhelpful and disgusted.

I have nothing but praise for Wythenshawe Hospital. From start to finish everything went smoothly. I didn’t have to chase any appointments. Everything happened very efficiently and every appointment I had was on time. I had better service from this hospital than the private hospital I attended last year. To all the staff - keep doing what you are doing. You are amazing!!! And to Vinnie on F4 thank you for your humour during my stay. It made me smile a lot! x

Had to go to Accident and Emergency today. I can't get over how wonderful everyone I met was. I was seen/treated by several people in different departments and everyone was fantastic. They were smiling, happy and hardworking. You would not think these wonderful people had been through a pandemic, all were very humble. The hospital itself was spotless. I was made to feel very safe and at ease.

I delivered my baby boy on February 24, 2022 at Wyntheshawe and the experience and care was the best ever. My midwife Lizzie and student midwife Jenny were so supportive and ensured I was encouraged and motivated throughout my entire labor. The consultant Dr. E. Rawlinson who did forceps delivery was also very professional and kept me informed during the entire process. The staff in C3 ward did an exceptional job at keeping me comfortable despite the excruciating pain. I just wanna say thank you to everyone who made me have a positive birthing experience . Words are not enough to express my gratitude for safe delivery and a healthy baby!

I attended the hospital on Saturday 4th March, to undergo an operation. From walking in the entrance to being discharged same day I have nothing but praise for everyone I came into contact with, from start to end. Their friendliness and professionalism put me at ease, the op was a great success, and I was offered coffee, biscuits, toast and juice on several occasions. This is a GOOD hospital with fantastic, caring and hardworking staff. Thank you Wythenshawe Hospital!

Waiting time up-till 11 hours! I never saw such careless and unmanaged treatment ever. Its okay to wait cause emergency cases needs to be handles first but delaying appt for waiting and stranded people is not justice. Waiting area is not well equipped or relaxing for patients. I would not blame doctors or staff as they are doing their job fine, Its the management who needs to make some changes in flow or design patient centric processes.

From start to finish nurses were nice and attentive kept me informed gave me food and drink when I was allowed. On Friday 20th Dec I was rushed to Wythenshaw hospital with sudden severe pains in my head. I was checked in and seen by a nurse within 5 minutes, I had a scan and bloods taken within 40 minutes and went on to see a specialist with the results within two hours. I was admitted to a ward within three hours. The headaches diagnosed as β€˜Thunder Clap Headaches’ I received the best of care during my two week stay in hospital, by nurses, doctors, care workers, cleaners and admin staff. Who still have time for a reassuring smile, even after working a thirteen hour shift of nights for the last four days. They all still have children’s presents to buy, parents to look after and turkeys to stuff. Thank you so much for your care and I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and Boris and the government looks after you all and our brilliant NHS in the new year. True Angels without wings. Xx

Abby and her amazing team on the surgical orthopaedic ward. They nursed me back to health over and above the "obs" and "meds" and protocols..... As a patient I was hard work for them, in a lot of pain and needing a lot of work through out day and night.... Thankyou. I never once felt a nuisance, or uncared for. Quite the opposite, they still managed to keep my spirits up

Recent pregnancy scare with ED attendence - under care of St Annes at MRI - none of the numbers provided in the care pack connected including the self refer system to the Wytheshawe site. No named midwife to discuss concerns nor help. Decided to turn up at Wytheshawe site - reception staff clueless and advised reattendance to ED. Midwife then directed to F16 (a ward we had tried to contact with phone ringing out on numerous occasion) - wife left in waiting area for hours despite active bleeding. Practise would benefit from managerial review to improve accessibility and care for a vunerable cohort of patients.

I recently went into A&E with severe abdominal pain. 11 hours was the wait time and I heard from people who had been waiting 15 hours to be seen. Luckily due to my level of pain I was seen within 5 hours and 4 hours later I had a scan to reveal appendicitis. Considering the pressure this busy hospital is under 99% of staff were helpful, caring and knowledgeable. The F1 ward were fantastic, as was the doctor I saw in A&E and many of the nurses on A6 were brilliant. My surgery team were great too and I am recovering well from a successful key hole surgery. I am so grateful for the outstanding care I received when I needed it. For the reviews that complain about waiting times, do they not realise this is beyond the hospital's control and that they are doing the best they can? The government are massively underfunding the NHS and care homes which results in these issues. My only complaints are to do with 3 rude staff, it's not hard to maintain a bedside manner. My radiologist had a rude, manner, on the A6 ward a nurse left the light on all night because she never came back to remove the finished medicine from my cannula. The nurse doing the medicine round didn't show any caring personality and refused to give me higher pain relief due to the reason I hadn't had it the day before. Finally, the food is truly awful.

I was in Wythenshawe A&E on Sunday 20th Feb with a nasty wound to my leg. I was seen and treated by an enhanced nurse who was really nice. I didn’t get her name but she really looked after me and we got along nicely which put me at ease and took my mind off what she was doing with my leg. Iv been treated in Wythenshawe Hospital for years from A&E, Physio, Operations, follow ups and each time I can not fault any of the staff. It’s the best hospital I have been to πŸ‘πŸ‘

We were referred to this hospital for a procedure, rather than our local hospital up in Cumbria. We arrived for the appointment only to find out that blood tests should have been done locally prior to the procedure as they couldn’t go ahead without them. Even though the clinic was full to capacity, the staff arranged urgent blood tests and moved patients around to accommodate us, rather than us having a wasted 5 hour round trip. The staff in radiology and phlebotomy went above and beyond to accommodate us, they are a real asset to the hospital. Once again, thank you for your kindness and helpfulness, it truly is appreciated. Kayleigh & Mum.

Recently I had the opportunity to pass the premises on my way elsewhere, and I was caught up in an event, I have to say that I have found that the staff on site are awesome, very polite and very friendly and helpful at the scene. So I have to say that the team were awesome, both the doctors and the nurses. Just what more can this man say eh, but what a team of people.

The hospital is very dirty ...I've never seen such a dirty environment in place that is supposed to be sanitised for health and safety.. the food is vile and very unhealthy ...not much option for veggies ...the subway after closing don't clean the tables or floors they are full of food and left over food marks ..this review is not about nursing care at all just the state of rhe hospital . It should smell like a hospital they need more cleaning staff or better ones

One of most horrible Time in A&E i had with my two kids being Sick same time one with Appendix pain and one with infection 8 years old. No body want to speak to you nicely very rude i can understand its boxing day some people dont want to come to work if i had choice i would stay at home. All i want to say just speaking to someone nicely make a lot different. I came 2pm and now the time is 7pm and no call from doctor still waiting.

Great treatment, super friendly helpful staff from the cleaners upwards I can't fault anyone. EXCEPT the cook. The food is absolutely diabolical. Easily the worst food I've had in any of the hospitals I've ever been in. Rice pudding that had the look and consistency of scrambled eggs. I know and understand that supplying food to multiple areas at the same time have unique difficulties but this was so so bad.

I visited a relative twice in the last week, once on the A9 ward and then once on the F11 ward. I was thoroughly disgusted with the overall cleanliness of the hospital. On my first visit the public disabled toilet near the main entrance was unclean, rubbish on the floor (a H&S hazard) all doors were covered in finger prints, litter on the floor in the hallways/stairs and the ward staff were unapproachable, everything seemed like too much of an effort for them. On my second visit to ward F11 there were 3 public toilets near the Chapel, each one was soiled!!! Standards are so low, they seem lower now than ever - Even after the Covid wake up call! I left the hospital worried for my family member who was an inpatient in case of cross-infection. Also the car parking machines were out of order all week, on one occasion I paid at the Nightingale which seemed the only one to be working then on the second occasion people were being let out without paying - Does this money not fund the NHS to improve its services?

Nurse is professional! However, the car parking payment is nightmare. Only two machine is nearby my parking but one is out of service and the rest one can’t accept Β£20 notes without mentioning on the machine. Made me wonder my note is fake! Then I walk 15 minutes to find any other pay machine. Then I find another one is out of service also! I continue to walk more far then find another one. Strange that it mentioned not accepted Β£20 note then I went somewhere to get a change. When I was back then put Β£5 notes to pay, then it is only accept coins only ! I need to went somewhere again to get sufficient coins to pay finally. What’s the year now? The machine is not accept card as well as notes?

I would like to thank the wonderful ICU team, especially Priya. My uncle was placed in a coma there. The staff were all so caring and respectful. Priya would talk to my uncle as she cleared the tubes keeping him alive, and she was happy to explain everything that was happening in detail to me. When the time came to withdraw life support the team made sure I understood exactly what would happen and they monitored my uncle remotely so that we did not have to see anything on his monitors. Even after his passing the kindness continued with a lovely nurse explaining everything and letting us know that my uncle would be under her care. I cannot rate them all highly enough for all they did for him. Thank you all so much.

I went to A&E today the reception was so good they booked me and direct me straight away to the doctor, doctor called me and he sent me to do the CT scan straight away I was shocked it’s very quick !! But when the staff inside dealing with you everything went wrong they took me after one and a half hour to have my scan the lady at the scan area was shouting saying you should let me know in advance Then I was waiting for 10 min to be taken in the doctors who saw my was passing by and he asked me Wht u doing here ?? I said am having my CT scan as u advice he said you are in the wrong place any way he push me back to the A&E and I waited another 5 hours until they came and did the scan. And again when they came to take me the doctor was passing by and he saw me then he told them this is very long ! After having the scan I felt sick tired and in pain and only I wanted to go home I asked the nurse how long I have to wait she went hffff and said to me you have to wait I said ok but for how long and she start shouting at me and say I don’t know She is very rude unprofessional I normally like to go to wythenshawe hospital because it’s a good hospital but now these days after Covid everything has change NHS going down.

Absolute nightmare. I know we are in hard and difficult times currently but waiting in AandE is ridiculous. Came here about 3 this afternoon after being advised to by a doctor at Trafford General. Waited 5 hours, checked with reception there was still 8 people in front of me to be seen had to leave for work. After talking with my boss was allowed to leave to come back. Returned about midnight to be informed approx 7 hour wait. Just have to sit and wait this time. I know hospitals are under a lot of pressure and I sympathise. But 7 hours cmon. I feel really bad leaving this review especially considering it is a very good standard and all the staff are nice and good at their job. Just waiting times. I was finally seen after about 6 1/2 hours. In with the doctor for about 8 minutes who told me he would have to send a request to my GP for an urgent scan. Contacted my GP surgery several times in the following days who had received no requests. It took me having to ring the hospital 5 days later to speak with the A&E secretary before they sent the request surely this request should have been sent automatically within 24 hours as I was told it was urgent. Like I have said already in this review generally good staff but just a few things need sorting. Plus parking costs are ridiculous. Follow Trafford General which is free.

Excellent care and friendly staff members. Been to the Starlight Department;the Children's A and E many times and have received the best treatment. Very clean and with the Covid situation they have all the facilities you would expect.

9 hour wait time in children’s A&E, people who arrived after us were given rooms and we were left in the waiting room. We were told that the people who came in after hadn’t been seen just given rooms but we were next for a room? Doesn’t make sense when we arrived before them. I understand that the NHS is pushed with Covid etc, but I stood at main reception for 15 minutes whilst the receptionists had a chat in the back, I literally had to walk around the desk to get their attention before they came back to their desks to check us in. I feel like you can’t blame Covid for poor service.

This hospital has great staff it’s a great hospital to live near. The only thing that let it down was a 7 hours wait at A and E. Don’t know how that compares to others.

Easy to find and well signposted. Parking is available, first 20 mins are free after that it’s chargeable. Disabled badge holders are also free. There is a separate small car park around the back of the drop off area for disabled badges closer to the entrance but it does also state you can park in the main car park too. There is also a drop off area as well. Cafe onsite. Tesco & Greggs not too far away either.

My 72 year old father inlaw went into A & E at 9.30pm on 26.12.21 having fallen and hurt his arm. He also has other health issues including lung issues which is why he fell. It's now 6.30am on 27.12.21 and he's still sat in pain in A & E reception. Still not been seen by a doctor. Totally unacceptable.

If there was an option of zero stars I wouldve selected that!! Never ever make the mistake of coming to this hospital. The staff is extremely rude. You get checked after 7-9 hours and then if you have to get something like crutches you have to wait a further 1 hour. I never even thought that a hospital could be this bad

I cannot fault this hospital at all I was rushed in with heart attack, they made me relaxed and fixed me.the staff were brilliant always helpful and smiling. My only complaint is for such a huge place the pharmacy can't cope, waited around all day for my take home meds .maybe another pharmacy to take the slack might help, otherwise would have give it 5 stars

The staff in this hospital are amazing! The doctors, nurses, security, everyone who works there. They are very professional, empathetic and always willing to help. My mother has been very poorly and neglected by the GP. We had to rush to A&E… The doctors and nurses have called her back, done the appropriate scans and helped us through this difficult time. The RACU unit has helped us a lot, I want to praise the nurse Alina and Dr James. Thank you for your service, you have brought back my faith for the NHS.

After going for a DEXA Scan in the Nightingale Centre last Friday (May 2022) I wanted to say it was Organised, Clean Waiting Area with helpful staff. The appointment was on time, the lady who scanned me was knoweagable, professional whilst still having a friendly manner. There is a small, volunteer operated cafe I used after my appointment the lady there was very pleasant too bringing my food to the table (I am in a wheelchair).

Daycare and triage for maternity is abysmal. You come in for an appointment which has been pre arranged and don’t even bother getting seen for at least an hour. No social distancing in place, last time I came in I was sat next to another woman waiting who was throwing up next to me. Staff sat in triage area are rude also. Midwives themselves though are lovely caring ladies so I won’t say anything bad there, but if you are coming in for any appointments just be prepared to pack lunch .. and bring your own chair or something comfy to sit in because you will be there the entire day.. despite it not being particularly busy.

Hospital security, seem to have same aggressive behaviour as stepping Hill. One person reminds patients and visitors of his martial arts and how he meditates to calm him down as he admitted he's and angry man. He should not be working for the hospital as again they act like police and seem to have a homophobic attitude like the stepping Hill did and can throw there wait around. It's so bad how you get treated under the NHS. One team one person ruins the whole thing.

Very happy with the care here, I had some concerning symptoms and was referred by NHS 111, I was seen quickly, they thoroughly tested me and I had a CT scan the same day to rule out anything serious and all was ok so I was prescribed medication and now at least I feel reassured after suffering for weeks

Yes again my review also be on the list, maybe for the few days after that it last down on the list. Making this statement because I know you are not going to do if that had happened it would had happened many days back. I went to this hospital and the waiting time was 5 hours. After the advice from the doctor go for an urgent ECG, even though the board state that urgent ECG, I have to wait for more than hours to do that. So just asking to the authorities y they need to keep a board urgent ECG ? And also the staff behaviour is soooooo rude.

After being run of my pushbike by car last year I was half mile away from hospital and told I had to wait 8 hours for ambulance or make my own way in.(unbelievable) I made way there by taxi put in wheelchair an told I had to wait a further 9 hours to be seen to as lots of people there before me with miner cuts a scratches. nothing seriously wrong with them. unlike myself. I ended up going home because they refused to give me any pain relief. On returning next morning I was scanned and found to have 3 fractures to my pelvis and few broken ribs cuts an bruised all over an my teeth started falling out over next few days but shattered by accident .only chunks came out not full teeth. Told by sergen I needed immediate operation. I told them my rare blood type congeals with anesthetic an causes heart attack. Sergen said it's fine if mid operation I have heart attack they use refibulator an BOOM I'm back in the room. Pathetic way to speak to patciant. Told if not have operation ide be wheelchair bound 12 month an still on crutches another 6 months. I was back on my feet fit as a butcher's dog 3 months lies that doctor told he must have fortune in bank people hes scared into operation he gets big fat deposits in his bank account. Should be investigated the hole place just been rebuilt almost costing millions an some of that was my taxes over years but we have influx of migrants never had free care or doctors . They was put before me as bigger priority.(total sham) . Needs a total new management and investigation into how its run wrongfully

I am a refugee from Ukraine and I want to complain about the hospital where they refused to help me today. I complained of severe pain in the mammary gland, and in the same place I had a large tumor. I was refused even an examination by a breast doctor and was sent to a GP. I came to the GP but she wasn’t there at work and they gave me a referral for December 1st. I want to warn the hospital management that I will sue your hospital and the manager who refused me to undergo breast screening. I will demand compensation in court for moral and psychological damage in the amount of your hospital in the amount of 500,000 pounds. If I am diagnosed with breast cancer during an examination at your clinic on December 4, I will sue you for late help in the amount of 5,000,000 pounds.
