liars and cheats. They have always charged me for kids lunch box although I have ordered from their main menu. It clearly says on the kids menu that children eat free with any traditional breakfast/Or adults course! They never do it and when you mention, they give some excuse, "oh the offer is no longer valid", "oh the offer is not on today" They never severe lunch at 11:30 either, against what says on the menu. Change the info on your menu and stop this CON for once

The garden centre itself is lovely, fairly well stocked with a variety of items. The staff have always been very helpful in helping you with larger items etc. I’ve had two bad experiences at the cafe though, which is a shame. The first when I order a tea cake and reported a milk allergy to them. When I questioned them to make sure it was suitable for the allergy I got the reply ‘I’ve already told you it is’ despite there being butter on the plate which was not suitable. The second time there were staffing issues and a relatively small issue meant I asked for a refund. Aleksandra was so rude, slapped the money into my hand and didn’t speak. Manners cost nothing and the experience has ruined what should have been a lovely day.

Cafe looks good/clean but service is poor and it's overpriced. My mum paid £5.50 for fried egg on toast for breakfast and when it came it was one very small fried egg on one piece of toast!!! Unluckily for customers who arrived after us, the power in the kitchen went down and a waitress announced that they could not serve any further food or drinks and was offering refunds. Soft play area nice for small kids.

Booked in for 4 afternoon tea, 1 vegan afternoon tea. Staff were unaware of the booking but were absolutely fantastic at rustling up a vegan afternoon tea. They really did go above and beyond. Polite, friendly and professional. We all really enjoyed our afternoon tea. I also came away with two plants. Fair prices for the plants I will definitely be back. Thankyou

Other people's reviews were a tad off-putting, I'm glad they didn't deter me from visiting today. Service in cafe was great. Drinks arrived promptly and food very soon after. Was actually surprised how quickly it came. I was able to have a vegetarian breakfast AND gluten free toast!! There are GF cheesecakes!!!! Food was hot and tasty. I loved the shop and plants galore! I got numerous vegetable plants at 50% off! I'm so made up with our visit today. The play centre was an added bonus and kept my child entertained. 100% recommend.

We popped in looking for a plant arrangement for a gift. There wasn't a lot of choice sadly, but we did find a glass bowl with 4 plants in and a few Christmas decorations in and a centre candle. It was very pretty and reduced to £12.50 We had a look at the other items in the sale. The till assistants looked bored and fed up. They weren't unfriendly, but not particularly friendly either. Not great when you're purchasing items.

Visited the cafe today and was very disappointed it was very busy the lady on the till was lovely, and the waitress serving meals too.The problem was we were told we would have to wait for food they were waiting for a delivery, then the Chef came out swearing saying don't order anymore fish only scampi he appeared very stressed. We did get the sandwiches we ordered in good time but the salad was old and salad cream had been mixed to hide the old lettuce. The toilets had a very strong smell of urine and they are desperate for a total update.

Celebrated my daughter's 3rd birthday here with a little seedlings party. It was perfect. The staff were brilliant. All round great afternoon. Rachel was amazing at ensuring everything was set up and organised for us and the food and drinks were great. We were told we could take our time leaving despite it being closing time. I would highly recommend. Thanks so much we loved every minute!

Further to my earlier negative feedback, I have to say I visited the coffee shop yesterday and the service was brilliant. The staff were on the ball, helpful and pleasant and I had my coffee and cake with a few minutes. I’ll certainly be back.

I always enjoy visiting this garden centre. The staff are always kind and helpful. There is a lovely selection of homewares. There is a large array of beautiful plants but sometimes they can sometimes look a bit dry. On todays visit the cafe staff were very kind and helpful to my disabled friend and dog, getting him a bowl of water then changing it as he prefers a ceramic one to metal:) We had a lovely slice of cake, tea and coffee.

Large garden centre with a wide selection of well-priced plants, trees and shrubs. Plenty of parking and a large cafe that even has a vegan dessert and some non-dairy milk options for coffees. The also have a membership card with 10% discount and some free coffees through iut the year. Definitely worth a visit.

Stopped here on a long journey for lunch and so the kids could play in the softplay. Shop itself was quite pricey and not spectacular. My husband leaving a garden centre without buying anything is unique... Lunch was fine. Lots of gluten free options, which was great. Really enjoyed the gluten free toasties. And oat milk for coffee. Scones were huge! Kids meals were not very good. Pizza was so greasy, our daughter only ate a small piece but we saw it again later in the car (...).

The cafe is excellent, staff super friendly. Plant prices very reasonable, compared with Cheshire garden centres. Just select your plant's carefully though, as some seem a little poor.

Food and service were great, and the afternoon tea was excellent. Soft play for the little one was spot on and inside the restaurant area, but if you don't have kids or don't want to be disturbed, you won't be. We'll definitely be coming back 👍

Me and my partner stopped off for breakfast, I had a full English and my partner had a breakfast roll. The quality of the produce was poor and the oil it was cooked in left a lot to be desired. My partner left most of hers and she suffered with an upset stomach afterwards. Too greasy, cool coffee and cheap produce, waste of money

Fish finger sandwiches arrived with a nice salad and some really delicious coleslaw, but the fish fingers themselves were horrible. Grey inside, small amounts of fish mixed with some sort of binding agent, tasted awful. They must be the cheapest ones you can get, very disappointed.

Shop and garden centre ok. Cafe dreadful. Ordered 2 toasties and was told it would be at least 30 min wait. I ended up with a piece of cake and my friend a Kitkat- not exactly what we’d hoped for! Also again the cafe area was very cold, whereas the shop area was ok.

Visited Dobbies Altrincham. It was very disappointing trying to avoid walking into buckets that were catching rainwater, due to major leaks in roof. Some buckets were overflowing. Cafe looked grubby and table’s were not cleared. People were clearing tables themselves and wiping them down. Food nothing to write home about!

Been here for the last 16 weeks every Friday it can get very busy I understand but it seems personal that every time I come, we buy breakfast or toast and we wait over 25-45 minutes before complaining we have even tried moving tables but everybody else even people who come and order after us get get there food first! So disappointed didn't even get an apology just got give excesses well terrible shame 😞

Went to your cafe today. My mother ordered fish and chips. There was more batter than fish and the chips were so over cooked they were too hard to eat. She struggled to get a fork into them so ended up leaving them.very disappointing for the price you charge. Wont be going back. That said I found the staff very nice.

Visited today with friends in order to shop & have a bite to eat. Everything was great and the majority of staff were too. However, a member of restaurant staff on at least two occasions felt the need to shout out drinks orders extremely loudly. At one point she walked through the restaurant with her noise. Other than attention seeking there was no need for this. It lowered the tone of the place and felt uncomfortable. In my opinion this needs to be brought to her attention asap and some staff training wouldn't go amiss. I would have given four/five stars if this hadn't occurred.

Me and my family came to pick a Christmas tree, close to closing time, on a dark rainy night. Despite the weather and it being the end of a day the lady with short blonde hair who served us was just wonderful. Greeted us with smiles, helped us pick our tree, even went out of her way to suggest one of the trees from the back which she went out and got in the rain. We’ve got the perfect tree and she left us all feeling just that but more Christmassy. She even went out of her way to help us sign up for a Dobbies membership card.

Always have such a lovely time when visiting Dobbies cafe, for sooooo many reasons. The staff in there work so damn hard as it is always so busy for the amount of them there. The coffee is outstanding and beautifully presented and the staff are always so helpful, friendly and the reason I will continue to keep visiting. The food is fab and their display of cakes is dangerously tempting :) They have a lovely doggie friendly area, which unfortunately isn't always free for people with dogs, but the staff are always accommodating and helpful if this happens. Keep up the brilliant work guys and don't let anyone dull your sparkle. See you soon x

I think this place has struggled with staffing issues of late, as has so many places, but it’s plain to see a lot of effort has been placed in pulling things back, especially in the restaurant including the conservatory area, which has a new relaxed, meeting area with comfortable chairs. I went there today with a good friend for breakfast. We had the two full breakfasts for £14. Without sounding like a foodie, the food was excellent. Freshly cooked, straight from the kitchen and very tasty. In addition, the serving staff were great. Very helpful, prompt and fun.

Garden centre is ok but the café needs to be organised better. Food takes too long to deliver due to kitchen efficiency me thinks. Should re arrange the coffee/ tea area so it's on the end & staff don't have carry trays of drinks past other staff. At 11.30 there were no scones to choose from. Trays were at till end so customers couldn't really help themselves to cakes & cold drinks as had no tray . Staff were friendly & helpful but rushed off their feet. It was good to see a male manager/ senior staff helping with the table waiting. We are club members but unless they improve we may not renew.

Wide range of various kinds of plants, trees and exotic options for all you'd ever wish for. Quite pricey but the choice makes this less of a consideration. Today I was bought an Aloe Vera plant :)

Enjoyed an afternoon tea for 3 - staff were very welcoming & attentive, providing a festive table & the food was delicious. We couldn't eat it all so were provided with tubs to take the rest home. Thank you very much for making it a special afternoon.

We decided to have a Xmas dinner at Altrincham Dobbies having bought 2 tickets for teenage cancer. We booked online and paid a deposit. Sadly the meal was tepid. We asked if it could be heated up and it was eventually brought back with apologies and the waitress said they had forgotten to put the Yorkshire pudding on and the pigs in blankets! Unfortunately the meal was still cold. The waitress was very apologetic and we eventually were brought back a fresh meal! Was it worth the wait? Sadly no😩. However the waitress Samantha Starling was really helpful very apologetic and couldn’t have done more for us. She gave us large complimentary coffees and a slice of cake to take home. We love the food at lunchtime but probably wouldn’t have a meal again in the evening. 😩

Great variety of plants, store has been refurbished and feels open and spacious. Cafe has a good menu, not too much choice but that's OK. Very helpful staff.

Last time we visited we had a lovely breakfast, but visited this morning as we were looking forward to breakfast. We saw a sign saying they had a limited menu due to chef with COVID. We were informed that breakfast was on the menu. What they didn't tell us was there was a 30 min wait for food. Lattes were barely warm and after ordering 2 more had to send them back as barely warm again. We waited over 45 mins and to make matters worse were asked if we had received our breakfast to which we said no, only to watch the same young waitress delivering 2 breakfasts to customers who came in half an hour after us. We were extremely annoyed by this and walked out. Other customers seemed to be waiting too. It was an extremely disappointing morning.

I visit the garden centre regularly with various people. The staff are very friendly. One lady prefers to have lengthy chats to customers rather than serve them unfortunately but the rest of the staff are hard working. There have been problems with staffing for quite a long time, kitchen having to close so only coffee and cake available. Not many gluten free cake options (if any) apparently this is in the process of changing. 👍😊 I have to say the G/F fish and chips are delicious though. ✔️ There are alternatives to dairy milk which is good. Have no expectations and you won't be disappointed! ☺️

As Dobbies has taken over this garden centre, there is alot of room for improvement. We visited mainly to have some lunch. My husband had the fish finger sandwiches, which were OK, average. I had the pickle and cheese sarnies. The amount of pickle greatly outweighed the cheese. The bread was dry and the little bit of salad was drenched in dressing. Thank goodness we had the Victoria sandwich cake after, which was lovely and moist. However the slices were stingy for £3.60 each. I paid £26 for the food and 2 lattes, which normally I wouldn't mind, if the food is good. The only good side was that the staff were friendly. We weren't the only table to leave food

I liked the garden centre it was very festive and welcoming, we also used the restaurant which was fairly busy but sadly we waited 29 minutes for toast, 20 of them minutes were after we had our drinks served. The menu stated bloomer bread toast but it was small thin sliced white supermarket bread . Needs description changing or product corrected. We will give it another visit. The staff were very helpful.

OK so it's lovely wandering around looking at the plants. But the coffee is simply awful. It's like hot, brown water. Fine if you like your coffee really weak and tasteless. Before I even tried it I could tell by looking so told the server. I was offered what was described as another shot but it only looked like a small cup of the same, insipid brown stuff which made no improvement whatsoever to the appearance or taste. Seriously, there's a big issue here with something basic, so get it sorted!

Due to lockdown I've taken more of an interest in our garden. Nice variety of healthy looking plants and helpful staff who advised me on plants for a wet shady area I have on the garden. I then went to the cafe for tea and cake, it's table service only still. After a bit of a wait due to being busy I was able to order lemon drizzle cake and a pot if Earl Grey tea. Cake was a decent size slice and tasty.

Easy access and level parking. A great range of gardening essentials and friendly staff. Sometimes the till systems are not quickly updated ready for the tokens/vouchers, printed in newspapers, which draw you to the brand! Sunday 01AUG2021

Only went in for a quick bite. Food OK rather than great, and one meal arrived after everyone else had finished

Great selection, even managed to get a few bargains.

  • 4/5 Rebecca C. 2 years ago on Google
Food good and restaurant area pleasant and bright although service can be slow. Also slow on the tills but the plant selection is interesting and great quality, as are the the gifts. As long as you go in expecting to have to queue and wait to pay then you'll be probably be quite happy with your experience.
