Amazing doctors, truly brilliant patient focused care. Absolutely shocking receptionists/secretaries. They are so rude, obstructive, arrogant and useless. Better off getting a computerised admin team to replace them, then this practice would be amazing. Update: moved practices and manage to get timely and amazing care every time, no horrible powertripped gatekeepers.

Very disappointed to phone the surgery at 9.30am and be greeted with an unsympathetic and rude receptionist. I have thought about this all day, and although it's goes against the grain, I will be putting in a complaint tomorrow. Customer service is always important, but this is an environment that deals with patients mental and physical health issues. It's the first point of contact which should lead to whatever treatment is needed.

I know the NHS is under huge pressure during the Covid pandemic but God help the people who have other health issues. I’ve used Altrincham Medical Practice for decades, previously I could always get an appointment to suit my work schedule, albeit probably a couple of weeks away. Now every time I ring I’m told all appointments are gone and to ring at 8am or 2pm, you can’t schedule in advance anymore. Unless ill and off work, this is no good for me as I work full time. I fear their patients will be far sicker by the time they secure an appointment. Reception said I could call 111 if it was urgent.

I have a very professional doctor and have no issues with that element. What I have an issue with is a none joined up system and some members of the reception team who are quite rude and dismissive.Asking patients not to be rude and talk to reception with respect is a bit rich when coming from the very people who talk down to you in a very patronizing manner. Its works both ways in my book. No appointments can be made unless you speak with a Doctor first, now I have to make an appointment with an in house pharmacist but yet again Im 6 or 8 on the telephone queue. Can there not be a more simple system to make an appointment, this is not business like and sends a message to patients that no one really cares and you matter very little.....this is not what i get from my Doctor but from the general clinic itself. I've now put the phone down as I cant be bothered hanging on anymore, I wont be calling back to speak with anyone I simply give up, hence my writing a review. The Practice manager and Owner /Doctors in charge need to get a grip and get into the last century with their technology, seems the tail is wagging the dog.... I wish I had the choice as to when I paid my National Insurance, how much I paid and if indeed I should pay it all. It takes a lot for me to write reviews but Im sick and tied of poor service. My Doctor gets a 5 start review. The Practice gets a 1 star.

Extremely difficult to obtain face-to-face appointments for anything other than Covid jabs. Hostile and aloof staff who clearly would much rather not have to deal with pesky patients. I had been registered at this practice and its predecessor practice (Norman's Place) for more than fifty years but when I questioned the efficacy of their covid-inspired dreadful "telephone triage" system, I was summarily thrown off their register and told to find another practice.

This is not a game it’s about life of people, absolutely rude and unexpectedly ignorant receptions . Another lake of service from NHS.

Why is it so difficult to get an appointment, I have been trying for two weeks now phoning every day at 8am and getting a message saying that I am number 30 in line. When you do get through the message will say that all appointments are booked. I am feeling extremely poorly and getting worse by the day and possibly quite serious ... I just need to speak to a doctor !!! Not A lot to ask for

Absolutely rubbish reception! Tried to ring today to make an appointment as I require B12 injection every 3 months The next available appointment is the end of October! What a joke?I called in advance and I was told I need to ring 4 weeks before!! Nobody never answers the call I tried for the past 3 days The line is always busy or they put the phone down Cause when it rings out nobody is picking it up Absolute joke

Lack of compassion and empathy! They have no time to pay attention to details. I am going through a tough phase with a new diagnosis of epilepsy for my daughter. Having lived in various parts of the UK; I have never encountered a bad experience with any of the GP surgery. Unsupportive and lack compassion and empathy towards patients wholistic care. We joined this surgery after moving home. We didn’t want to leave our previous GP i, but they contacted to say that we have moved away, thus need to change the practice. Feeling awful.. and have been calling 111, walking into ED instead.

It is almost impossible to get an appointment at this practice. The online form doesn’t work for me apparently and there are no ‘none urgent’ appointments available. You have to stay on hold for over 40 minutes at 08:00am to get through and more than likely all appointments have gone. If you get an appointment it means you have to wait by your phone for an entire day for fear of missing the call back. I worry for vulnerable patients, those with mental health conditions who simply couldn’t face this process. And I have no idea how people are supposed to ‘catch cancer early’ if you have to face the urgent appointment scrum to get potential early cancer symptoms checked out. My daughter had a terrible cough that went on for weeks, she needed antibiotics and I knew that but I had to leave it even longer until she had ‘crackles on her lungs’ because I knew I wouldn’t even be seen without it. She suffered for weeks longer than needed, she was 4 years old at the time. I was diagnosed with ADHD but had to go private as a GP at this practice asked me ‘what’s the point’ in diagnosis at my age, I was 37. Horrible. Find a different GP practice as we will be.

I have been registered at this practice for 4 years. The medical staff have always been polite. One of the receptionists seems to act as a gatekeeper and as a result can be insensitive at times. The other receptionist however, Judith, goes out of her way to be helpful. It because of this amazing lady that I am amending my review from 3 to 4 stars.

I had a good service over all being a patient there for over 2 years. Even when I left and asked for documentations they helped me to get it.

It pains me to give poor review to my fellow medical profession. I am a NHS dentist , We went back to normal operation from Aug 2020 doing all treatment face to face . Most dental emergency / pain appointments are seen on the day or next day . It has been impossible to get even a phone consultation without waiting ridiculous amount of time . I had to accept a time that I was working. One call came when I was doing consultation and that was it, I didn’t get another call. This is NOT how I or my colleagues treat our patients! You need to ask yourself why are you in a health profession if you don’t care ? I also need to bring up a traumatic experience several years back when one of clinicians insulted me ,spoke to me in a demeaning manner over the phone, accusing me falsifying my symptoms and not turning up for appointments . Firstly I missed none of your appointments . Secondly being in the medical field I do have the basic pharmaceutical knowledge . Mefenamic acid and Transamic acid are NOT the same and they can be prescribed together. I was struggling with bleeding 28 days out of a month, being a single mother and working in a high stress environment looking after thousands of patients of my own. Convinced of herself that I was making it all up, I was refused the medicine I needed . Your appalling attitude and ignorance astounded me. Please Ms GP I hope you are up to date with your CPD as this incidence seriously called into question your medical competence. If showing the minimum human decency proves such a task, please get out of medicine !

Medically uninformed receptionists acting as gatekeepers and spreading misinformation is irresponsible to say the least. Just received completely incorrect information from a receptionist about eligibility for the Covid-19 booster.

Been trying to get through for months, all while phone lines completely busy and they don't take emails. My conditions are worsening because there's never enough staff to even answer.

I worry about the lack of knowledge and competence of the GPs in this practice. I have been consulting my symptoms with various GPs outside of this practice who recommended I get certain tests done following my calls with them. However, the GP at this practice was quick to dismiss the possibility of doing those tests and in any event said that they do not have the facility to do the tests anyway. Instead, the GP recommended tests that are not even slightly connected with my symptoms. In addition, the GP was rude. If you can, I suggest going elsewhere. In the end, we know our bodies and it is better to be safe than sorry. The receptionists have always been lovely to me though.

You never get to see the doctor! After hours of waiting for an appointment, the receptionist will tell you it's all booked up. I was referred to a pharmacy because I wasn't sick enough - full of cold, chesty cough for day.

Most insensitive experience with the doctor. I had a miscarriage and the doctor did not even bother to empathize. She did not advise me on anything besides to wait and let it happen naturally.

Here is your typical experience at Altrincham medical: 1. Staff take 5-10 minutes to answer your call when they tell you to call at 8 ( I was first in line). 2. They then arrange a phone call with a GP who shows 0 empathy for your situation, starts making snorty remarks and generally doesn’t want to listen and wants to just go on about his day ( my trash GPs so far were Dr Booth and Dr Anya Leaver, both should not have medical licenses going by way they treat their patients and the level of actual help they offer - glorified nurses is all they are. Only good GPS here are the ones that come as substitutes for simingly permeant ones.

Exceptionally short waiting times for my appointments. I called in and my doctor called me back saying there was an opening and she fit me in the same day. Had my referral immediately and had a hospital appointment within 2 weeks.

I changed my GP to this practice as my sister said it was a good surgery .As soon as I joined this practice I realised they are so easily contactable and responsive .They arrange blood tests and their pharmacist is so helpful.
