I so desperately wanted to leave this place and give it a 5 star review, but unfortunately I was not able to based on my visit here. Before I go any further I must say that the service, cleanliness, atmosphere were all excellent, but the food just really wasn't very good. I came for an evening meal and I cannot speak to the breakfast. There are not many places you see with a 4.9 review score so I came here with high expectations. We arrived around 7:30 for my girlfriends birthday dinner, we were sat down and ordered a number of items from the small plates menu and this is where it started to go down hill. The corn was mushy and overcooked, covered in a weird sauce, unpleasant. The chicken wings, little flavour, bang average. The potatoes, covered in a horrible cheese mix and tasted like they had been cooked days before and the ciabatta with cheese that came out looking like a childs pizza bread. We also ordered the small plate of lamb, at £13 for a small plate I was expecting something really nice, however no seasoning, raw in the middle, small portion and just very underwhelming. None of the food was awful, but average at best and when you leave with an £84 bill for two people, you expect a lot more. Instead we were served average food and wine by some really friendly people. I will be back to try the breakfast as this must be where the magic is.

Came here with a friend’s recommendation for a quick lunch. I had burrito and my friend had meat sandwich got chicken, beacon and avocado inside. We both think it’s tasty and very good price as well. This is a lovely local cafe&wine place also pet friendly place! Will definitely come back.

Really warm and friendly welcome. Great atmosphere. Coffee and Almond Croissant.... very tasty. Dog friendly is a definite plus. Look forward to visiting again soon.

Super disappointed!!! Staffs are ..um….ok but the foods are not tasty at all！I used to like this cafe and recommended to friends. My day has been ruined by this dish which I tried last time and was taste good. Steak quesadilla, beef are so dry and too chunky in the thin crepes, hard to chew, no taste, not juicy at all. The other dish, beef are too dry, super salty came with Sauerkraut and mustard which make the taste too complicated and more salty. It’s hard for us to finished it. We used to order coffee to wrap up the beautiful lunch. However, we just like to leave the cafe and no more fantasy to come again.

Came here for the first time today and oh my days the food is unique and off the charts! The staff are all top notch and provided a pleasant service. Oh and the lemon cheesecake was banging. I will definitely be back 👌

There is simply no better place to go in the area for outstanding food, coffee with superb and friendly service. Justin and his team create a warm and friendly atmosphere from the moment you arrive on each and every visit. This is hospitality as it should be but can rarely if ever be found these days. My week wouldn’t be complete without at least one visit to ‘Cali’.

My God! The grill cheese from here was phenomenally good. I think they use two cheeses which reduces the graininess of the cheddar. But whatever they do produces a simply sensational crispy luscious gooey toasted sandwich. Max Halley would just give up and throw in the towel if he had one!

Absolutely love this place! Great atmosphere and fantastic breakfasts. Get the sweet and smoky pancakes with two eggs and you can thank me later. The owner and staff are extremely friendly, and really contribute to a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Wow!! Amazing coffee and breakfast today. Staff are friendly. My wife had the choice of 2 shots in her iced latte, it was too strong and replaced immediately at no extra charge. Impeccable service. Thanks 🙏

Brief visit on Sunday morning. Had a latte and Chorizo breakfast wrap to takeaway. Coffee tasted great and the wrap was fantastic. Super friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more.

A wonderful place for breakfast in Altrincham. I called in with some friends on the way home from a weekend in Manchester. We all enjoyed our coffee and breakfast and found it hard to choose from a great selection of enticing dishes. Delicious food, a cosy atmosphere and friendly service. Highly recommended!

Yummy brunch - could have eaten everything on the menu. Ran from Stretford to meet friends - we sat outside in the back area which was perfect to cool down. I ordered a buffet of drinks - pressed apple juice and tasty black coffee. I had a chocolate croissant followed by the cobb salad - perfect balance and the dressing really brought it all together. Other members of the group had the brekkie, burritos and pancakes. No one left hungry or disappointed. Owners and waiters really friendly and right level of attentiveness. Great way to spend part of your weekend.

Came here for speciality coffee but we had burnt coffee instead of that. And we ordered 3 waffles and they brought 3 pancakes instead of that. They insist on giving that pancakes. Thank you.

I’ve been here a few times now and usually the customer service is usually spot on, especially the owner who is amazing. However today was a totally different experience. I was there for lunch and the waiter was very rude, only seems to be the one bad egg out of the amazing group of bar staff but it was enough to ruin my girlfriends first experience. Such a shame

We first came here the week Diana and Justin opened California. Since then whether with Friends or Family we have been here dozens of times. California in Altrincham is unique. Wonderful eclectic music evoking the 60s and 70s days in Laurel Canyon. Fantastic West Coast food all day. The best coffee for miles around . Superlative staff who provide unparalleled service in a superb laid back Californian ambiance and everything works so well because Justin/ Diana are the perfect hosts. Long may they adorn this marvellous location.

Love the vibe, the staff, and the espresso martini. Nice modern feel which is fresh and always clean, this goes for the food as well, medium-sized menu all done well, not trying to do to much, but what they do is very tasty. The two owners are super attentive and always ready to help if needed and never miss a chance to say hi in there unique ways, been here many times for a snack, meetings, lunch, dinner and even this week my birthday celebrations. If you want service with a smile and food that hits the spot you will find this in Altrincham at " Calafonia Coffee and Wine" see you again soon.......

Hi, The two stars are for the staff and for their great service, the missing three are for the food. Since you like being sarcastic, let's start with the wonderful scrambled eggs we got served, what's the brands of your eggs? Michelin? Bridgestone? Continental? Because I have never had such a rubbery ones in my life. You are located in Altricham and not Mexico, why serving chillis bake beans for breakfast? How freshly made were the waffles and pancakes that we were served? Did you get them from the same company that makes the Twinkies? And finally, the orance juice was a glass of water that may have only seen oranges in a postcard or magazine. Please stick to coffee and wine if tha tis what you like, and stop stalking people of Facebook and Linkedin because you did not like a review, that's creepy!!!!!

Had an amazing brunch here today. Food was excellent with great choices slightly different to the "same old"menus you get elsewhere. The service was off this planet though, so friendly, helpful and efficient. Love the fact it's dog friendly too. Will be back soon.

One of the best coffees I’ve had - I ordered a cappuccino with hazelnut syrup. A little pricey but worth it as a treat, once in a while. Really friendly service.
