😠 I ordered a 2 course menu which should be £16, I’m quite sure that is as I pointed to the staff the choices I picked. It end up charged me £22. I asked the staff and she said the menu is wrong. A very dishonest restaurant. Very disappointed. People often mention great, good, staff, nice, Sunday, sandwich, service, menu, beef, lunch,

Walked in today without a booking and they quickly sorted a table for three. Very friendly staff and great service. Our food order arrived quickly and it was perfect. Very happy!

Poor. The service was very slow despite being quiet. I ordered soup which was rather ok and a steak. The waiting time was incredibly long and when it came the meat was a very cheap cut and tough. Dreadfully over cooked. I was hungry and didn't fancy waiting even longer so I just ate it. Very pricey for something so bog standard. My company was nice but I won't bother going back.

We went for a Sunday lunch as a family of 4. The service felt a little rushed. The food was terrible. We had two roast dinners which were probably the worst Sunday roasts I have had in a long time. The beef burger also wasn't great. The best was the pasta from the kids menu which was basic but nonetheless decent. Total cost was £84. I won't be going here again.

Went last night to the cheese and wine event. It was excellent. A huge selection of assorted cheeses and crackers and a great selection of wine or prosecco. Would definitely recommend. We will be back. Thank you 🙂

Great pub if you are looking for good atmosphere and good food. Modern take on a classic family pub. Definately will be going again Chris who served us our food was fantastic and tended to our needs as quick as possible.

A nice pub in a pleasant location within Bowdon. There were a couple of decent real ales on tap and there was good outdoor space to enjoy on a nice summer day. It was atmospheric to hear the church bells chiming in the early evening.

I was there for a friend's funeral send off today. The staff were very helpful. The eats were delicious. There was a good atmosphere despite the sad occasion.

Lovely cosy pub restaurant. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Food is delicious. Be aware that on a Friday night it is quite loud from the busy bar area. That’s for me the only negative as it was hard to chat sometimes. Would definitely recommend though still and return. What makes this place is the amazing staff and the fabulous food. Nothing was too much trouble and as it was my birthday they made an extra special effort so thank you.

Tasty fish finger sandwich, companions had parsnip soup, turkey sandwich, beef and cheese sandwich and brie & cranberry sandwich. All delicious. I'd have liked more mushy peas, and the lads said the gravy they had with their sarnies was a bit Bisto, but the prices are very fair, so it pans out. Service a wee bit slow, but cheerful and accurate which made up for it. The pub is very dog friendly, with plentiful biscuits and water bowls, so they get an extra star from me for service!

Lovely pub. Good bar food. Cosy place in the winter to sit with the real fires lit. Not tried the new restaurant yet.

This was a perfect Sunday lunch! Beautifully cooked beef and turkey and amazing desserts - the churros were like proper Spanish ones! Lovely relaxing surroundings, great service and chilled music. Thank you!

First visit, nice place. Good atmosphere. Service good but little disappointed with jacket potato. My son had Beef sandwich with fries and gravy sauce which looked good. Would still go back though.

Great pub with a brilliant drinks selection and good food. They’ve just extended their outdoor area with a new outdoor ‘rum bar’ called Three Little Birds. Brilliant for the summer on a sunny day.

We went here for Sunday lunch , I called last minute on Sunday and they managed to squeeze us in . Food was fantastic . Best roast dinner I've had in a long time and my wife loved her fish and chips , my 14 month old loved her sausage and mash too. The staff were super attentive . Real pleasure dining here . The atmosphere is lovely too. Can't recommend enough !

Food was tasty, Well presented & good portions. Staff very friendly & attentive. Nice atmosphere throughout and there seems to be a loyal group of regulars who add to the friendliness. Well worth a visit.

Not eaten here for a while as the food has been a bit up and down but the food tonight was excellent - great quality fish and chips, scallop and ham hock starters too + the chicken superfood salad - faultless ! Thanks

Been a few times, food has generally been simply ok, just a nice place to meet family for lunch. This time however was INCREDIBLE. Lunchtime food was top notch and prices were amazing for the portion size & quality. Tasty, fresh, excellent value. Lovely helpful staff. Whatever you’ve changed, KEEP IT UP.

I am now learning that the food will always be mediocre, but Bowdon price. My last 3 meals there have been just about ok. What a surprise to find the the “soup and sandwich” isn’t a sandwich off their sandwich list, but some shop-sliced white bread with pre-mixed sandwich filling. Soup is a tiny coffee cup of soup. And the unseasoned beef sandwich was bland. It is an amazing drinking pub though, so will go for drinks. Will do my eating elsewhere though.

We had a very nice Christmas meal here for over 10 people. Service was great, everyone was nice an accommodating. Food came out pronto and was truly very good, albeit too salty. Pretty much everyone said so. All in all, I would recommend this place for a Christmas meal and drink.

We booked thinking we were booking for the restaurant only to be told it is being refurbished So we were disappointed but decided to make the best of it. The food and service were really good and then the bill came and we were charged £31 for a bottle of wine. Even in the Ivy in Manchester it's not that expensive Never again hope they feel proud ripping people off

What a shame, great pub but the most disappointing Sunday dinner. They had obviously been very busy, which is great, but when you run out of food you need to stop filling tables. Worst Sunday dinner ever. £21 for two courses, not bad but ended up only having one and leaving as the main course was a plate of cold roast beef, frozen overcooked Yorkshire puddings, some cold cabbage and lashings of salty gravy. They had run out of the veggie option and couldn’t offer anything else initially (not great when your veggie has nothing else on the menu to choose from) they had no vegetables left and told us the kitchen had run out of food but continued to serve up this joke of a dinner. Then to be charged the full £21 per person! As I said at the beginning, shame as it’s a great pub but no restaurant. Won’t be eating there again.

The best place we have visited during Eat Out Help Out. David served us and it was outstanding, thanks for nice food and outstanding hospitality. We will be back soon.

I've visited The Stamford whenever I'm down from Aberdeen visiting family here. I've always enjoyed the chillaxed atmosphere, friendly staff & the fact that dogs can take their well-behaved owners in is a real plus! In no way can I fault this wonderful establishment <3

I went for a first date with my girlfriend here and we had our first case so it is a definite 5. Would be five regardless, proper pub, live music, food, and you can have a great chat.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch yesterday in a lovely dry and warm pub. Food service quick and waiters very attentive. Really nice pub. I'll be back Yorkshire puds yummy 😋

What a great place. The food was yummy, the service was perfection, and such a beautiful space. My only issue was with the cutlery... The knives were more like butter knives than dinner knives which meant a battle to cut the parsnips (which were stunning), and the beef (which was really soft). It takes away from the enjoyment. Sharpen them or replace with a slight serration and it would have been perfect.

Nicest Sunday dinner I’ve had in a very very long time! Had all 3 meats (beef, lamb & pork belly), all cooked to perfection. Roast potatoes were bang on. Nothing was a problem, asked to change one of the meats on the menu, asked for extras which wasn’t on the menu and none of it was a problem. Had sticky toffee pud for dessert and again, bang on! The only thing that annoyed me was when I got a G&T the young lad poured a half full measurement, I didn’t say anything, luckily the food made it forgettable. Will definitely come back if I’m ever in the area again. Well done team!

Was looking forward to this but.... Starters we wanted, not available. Meal 2 of us wanted, not available. Beer we wanted, not available so not a great start. Wife had a burger meal, burger seemed like it was microwaved so hard around the edges. Waitress was fantastic and very apologetic but I don't think there will be a second outing.

Could be a great pub but the selection of real ales available is generally poor (so bad I often can't drink it). Rather than relying on substandard local ales, they really need to improve the quality of the real ale selection. How about a guest ale from my favourite breweries Purple Moose, Lakeland, Coniston?

The inside looks a little grubby, the food was terrible, the music was too loud so it was hard to have a conversation. They do have a lovely outdoor area to enjoy a pint and watch the world go by.
