The food was abysmal, oily squid, bland chicken wings and the mash potato that came with the sea bass was clearly old and had been microwaved... green beans undercooked and also without flavour. No table service so expect to go to the bar each time you need something. will never eat there again. Only good for a drink if you don't mind cheap wine.

We've visited the pub a few times recently and have always had a positive experience. The staff are always friendly and hard working. Most recent visit was New Years Eve. Thanks Emma, Jake and the team for a great night.

Good hydes pub in Ashton on mersey. Serves range of hydes session beers. All under 4% barring one I think. Good local place to meet up and have couple of pints. Shows sports on TV, pool and darts, serves food. Large patio area out back. 🍻 ⚽ 🎯 🎱

When you witness great care of a team from a manager, it's well worth shouting about. On todays visit to The Old Plough, it happened to be 31° c the hottest day of the year so far. I watched and listened as Emma took her time to make the decision to close the kitchen to protect her kitchen staff from sweltering temperatures. Check in with her bar staff to ensure they were staying hydrated and remind them of the much needed ice lollies she had made available to keep the whole team cool. Wow what a great leader showing so much care for her team. Luckily i was able to order food before the closing of the kitchen and my fish and chips was delicious. I wouldn't guess that the chef that cooked my meal was in a literal oven himself. Thank you to the whole team.

So disappointed with the lunch served to us today. The fish pie was over cooked burnt on the edges & dried up. 3 of us had the fish pie & one had spam which was ok. We have previously had great food but not today & it wasn’t even busy. The waitress deserves 5 star as one of our guest has had a stroke & he had sat down at the wrong table & had tried to get his wallet out. We moved tables & she asked if we had lost any money as she had found £40 where he had been sat. It lovely to know there are some honest people about.

I'm sure that the whole Ainsworth clan enjoyed this most recent wake of ours, and I was particularly impressed by how accessible the whole building was (well the ground floor, as I don't have the new improved Dalek flying upgrade as yet😆😉). Sorry for taking over your whole pub, but we are rather numerous when we're all together, mostly rather beautiful too if I do say so myself as an Ainsworth, modest too😁😂 Thank you for having us all to give our Tommy the fabulous send off he would have appreciated.🙏🧘‍♀️☸️ I'm sure he was with us all in spirit, downing a few😊👑

Sunday family dinner, we had the roast, the signature burger and the steak. Typical pub grub. Emma the landlady was great and good service from Matt. Bar staff excellent too, big shout out to Evan and his boyish floppy hair!

James was really polite, gave us really good service - especially the presentation of my food- really happy will be visiting again

8 of us had lunch together yesterday. The food was excellent and served very quickly. The service couldn't have been any better. Lorraine, the Manager and her assistant were very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed. Highly recommended.

Had a get together with the girls for our annual Christmas meal, 3 course's, absolutely delicious food, every course was perfect, hot and a great choice on the Christmas menu, staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble, so a big thank you to the chef for amazing food and the staff for looking after us, highly recommend, a merry Christmas to you all x

Popped in for some lunch, stake and ale pie for me chicken wrap for the other half. Really nice food, lovely place inside and much bigger than you may think. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Cant fault it.

The food is amazing, staff are friendly and atmosphere is welcoming. The main menu and the roast dinners are exceptionally delicious which we go back for every Sunday.

We had our Xmas dinner here (on Xmas day!), the food was amazing and the service was absolutely incredible. Staff were obviously working so hard but everything went smoothly and they were all lovely. 11/10, would massively recommend this place :)

Good evening more so that 'Jekyl ' the band played there, great group. Staff friendly. Had a nice birthday night there. Quieter than expected for a Saturday but, boxing was on t.v. too that night! Good atmosphere. Would visor again

Just came for a pint while my bicycle was being repaired. The young lady and gent on service are very nice, real partners in crime. Would of liked more on tap cider wise as I am not fond of Strongbow. I like Thatcher's which the buck has on offer but I prefer this place. May come for the live music this Saturday (16/10/21) as I saw the advertisement on the wall. 👍

Great place, take my dad and my 2 boys every Saturday for lunch. Staff are helpful, food is fab and the prices are spot on. The Barnsley Chop is highly recommended.

Staff were friendly and easy to find a table. The car Park was ok but quickly filled up and had to find parking elsewhere. Meal deal is a great idea but food was ok. Drinks were great.
