Congleton is the kind of place that you can tell will be a big deal in ten years. It is currently experiencing an enormous influx of inhabitants as the big home builders put together some beautifully, country-framed estates. With that are plans for new primary schools, local shops and recreational spaces. Congleton retail park is ideally located as right in the middle of these residential areas and a little outside of Congleton centre. It is ideally located for this emerging population and, in ten years, will be a major retail park. But, at the moment, doesn't have the intake to make it worthwhile. Expect to see several empty units and a few specialist stores. You will find plenty of parking here because there isn't much 'linked shopping'. What I mean is: there's a Halfords, a Boots, a B&M, a pet shop, an M&S food and a shoe shop. You are unlikely to need most of these units during a visit and there's nowhere to grab a bite, so you end up using the retail park for a single store (usually B&M or M&S) and then departing. I expect the retail park will develop further over the next decade and become a big shopping location for Beartown, but for now they need to attract new brands that link well with the current ones to make shopping there more attractive.

It's ok if it's got what you want, otherwise it's a waste. – you can say that about anywhere though. A pet store, Boots, a shoe shop, Halfords, Marks and Sparks Food and B&M (I think that's all the open units, right now). There's usually enough parking, except at VERY busy times (Christmas and so on), but some people seem to have a small problem with the one way system, so take care. Entrance to parking is a couple of hundred yards further away from Congleton than the exit, which is right on the bend in the road – not a problem for pulling out though as there's good line of sight. At least people have (mostly) stopped trying to drive in the Out. Mostly. I haven't had a close encounter of the entitled/unobservant kind for a while now.

We decided to shop at M&S in Congleton due to M&S Macclesfield closing. We have tried the new Macclesfield M&S foodhall but didn't like the small cramped car parking area. The staff at the M&S Congleton foodhall we found to be very friendly & helpful. As for the retail park itself, our first opinion arrival was that it didn't look very appealing. However, the car parking is excellent.

The cost of shopping online is showing unfortunately in retail parks. Empty shops no longer here, like no Laura Ashley or carphone shop. Seems soulless here, it breaks my heart seeing the shops and high streets dissolving away year by year because of the INTERNET!!.

Amount of parking is good. Variety of outlets is reasonable but could be better - there is an empty outlet - this needs to be filled ASAP to give the shopper more choice. The downside, the number of outlets is small so the site is not attractive for many shoppers

A good range of shops but the car park isn't very big. People end up parking on the road on busy days.

Car phone warehouse is no longer open here, the boots store is large with a great pharmacy team. Marks and spencer is so handy for the collection of orders

Convenient for M&S and B&M. Car-park takes a bit of negotiating at peak times, but usually worth it.

A good 'out of town' retail park with Boots, Halfords, M&S Food and B&M along with a couple of other shops. There is a lot of parking, however the lines around the parking bays are barely visible. There is a nice cafe at M&S, along with customer toilets.

Great little retail park, shame about the contractors doing repairs to the carpark. This caused queues entering and leaving

Very busy, but it is Christmas, so at busy times, just have a bit of patience parking, once in store shop to your leisure.

Couple of empty units looking a bit messy and the brickwork needs repairing and lines painting on spaces but other than that no real issues, just looking a bit tatty basically.

M&S food trip. Got what I needed. Other shops have all but disappeared. Hopefully post covid, things will liven up a bit.

Reasonable selection of shops. The main reason for shopping here is M&S Food Hall which saves a trip to Macclesfield. Laura Ashley closed their store here a couple of months ago so it'll be interesting if anyone takes over the lease.

There's a range of decent shops here, things you can't get as easily in the town centre (like shoes, pet supplies ect) Worth a look if you're after something specific to the shops here.

I went to Halford to pick a bike up and Josh put it together with in 30 mins and was excellent . I called in Macclesfield and they were discusting in the service. I asked if they had this particular bike and they said yes it's in the back I the asked if he could build it up for Friday no later than 3 as we were going away and I really need it for my autistic grandson and he said no. Yet I go to Congleton and josh did it in 30 mins I will never use Macclesfield again although I live in Macclesfield. They mustn't need the sale. Congleton were great

Good selection of shops but does need others to widen variety. Parking is a nightmare at weekends.

Great place to do a little shopping quite small retail park

  • 4/5 Martin A. 1 year ago on Google
I mean it's OK for what it is, if your expecting something on a grand scale like something you'd find in a city you're gonna be disappointed, there's a small selection of stores. That said its clean, easy to park and not excessively busy at keast not when I visited.

The "retail park" needs to urgently increase the amount of actually open stores, because some of them are empty. There's no "Carphone Warehouse" and there's no "Laura Ashley". So all that's left is quite a poor choice.

There is a good Boots, they even have staffed tills which suits me and the M&S simply food is just a short distance. Plus parking is free.
