👍👍 This is my first time having authentic fish and chips! We waited outside until 4:30 when it opened and it was worth the wait. Staff was very friendly food came out very fast we took it home and it was amazing. It was worth flying from Connecticut all the way to London taking a train to Manchester to... Can't comment on the food quality but can comment on the ridiculous queues and very expensive prices. I did not buy just walked out. I'm glad I did looking at some reviews. I know why it's called 'The Good Catch' nothing to do with fish. You are the Good Catch, customers and their money. Loads of places elsewhere, less busy and better quality and much cheaper. Don't be fooled about awards. Had lovely F&C elsewhere and much better value they get my award as a customer.

This is my first time having authentic fish and chips! We waited outside until 4:30 when it opened and it was worth the wait. Staff was very friendly food came out very fast we took it home and it was amazing. It was worth flying from Connecticut all the way to London taking a train to Manchester to find this place! They actually need to charge more for their food. It would be double this price in the United States and I would still pay it.

Darn it, I’m finding myself heading here every Friday. As much as I wish I could locate a great chippie closer to home, I’ve have had to come to terms that this one is currently leading the pack. Featuring queues that wouldn’t be out of place outside a Din Tai Fung outlet or a Pasadena food trunk, the reason why is soon apparent as soon as you scarf your first morsel of battered fish. To be sure there are pies but I have yet to sample them. I prefer the haddock over cod. Yes, I know but I’m a bit of an iconoclast in that respect. The gluten free option every Monday has piqued my curiosity. It’s exceptionally difficult to quantify what makes this chippie great over others. The fish is fresh, the batter suitably crispy and as tasty as a batter can be. So what is it? If you figure it out, let me know next Friday.

Always fab fish and chips from here. Freshly cooked for you. Tip: phone your order through as there is often a long queue

Been a local customer here for many years, we’ve moved areas and have been travelling well out of our way to continue our custom. We have travelled on two occasions now and the shutters have been down an hour before closing time. We checked the closing time on the website prior to visiting and also on Google. Very disappointing and we will no longer be travelling out of our way for this chippy. Such a shame!

Chips were soggy and home made fish fingers were scraps of fish in batter. Not really that impressed.

I knew as soon as I started tucking in that I had to review and give praise. 5 stars (3 stars max is my usual default maximum) The best fish and chips I've had in a long time.

Best english fish and chips in the area and the staff are very helpfully and friendly and a bonus the fish are either cod or haddock.

Award winning chippy located opposite Altrincham Football Club. (A short walk from Stamford Park and Altrincham Town Centre) Excellent service and quality fresh food. Their fish is from sustainable fishing grounds and their potatoes locally sourced and peeled fresh in the shop. They can get very busy, especially at tea time and on match days...but the staff are very efficient. Just make sure you order your fish as soon as you arrive! Gluten Free options available. Definitely worth a visit if in the Altrincham area or watching a game at Altrincham FC! (Note: I'm in no way affiliated with The Good Catch, I just believe in giving credit where credit is due!)

Very good, tasty and fresh.sometimes in rare occasions spicy curry tastes bad, and the first batches of fish absorbs more oil. I visit them often and only occasionally they let me down.

Good chippy! Staff are great, food is just as good. Have been a good number of times thou and what I wanted wasn’t available sadly (hence 4 stars) but that doesn’t detract from how good the food is. Pricing is higher than some competition in the area but with the cost of fuel now it ‘sort of’ balances out a little.

What would you like to review? Your reviews The Good Catch Hale, United Kingdom Codding you not! November 2023 I encountered this establishment by luck, for me! Requested to attend as a plumber, not as a mascot or as some promotional gimmick, but to fix a sink. I can only rave about the quality and service given by the team. Had to see why the shop was never empty. Fish chips and a barm were requested. Golden crisp chips. Moist fish with a golden batter tanging from the salt and vinegar was a delight. It may even make me Altrincham united fan, as its within the flood lights of the ground. Thanks for a tremendous lunch. 10 out 10,cant wait for the next plumbing issue

Used Good Catch for years and enjoyed the food. However today it came to my attention that the staff put fish and meat products in the same fryer, and use the same utensils. When we first bought from Good Catch, the shop floor manager reassured me that meat products are cooked in a separate fryer to the chips and fish. Maybe management has changed. Unfortunately they will lose a lot of customers once the word gets out eg Muslim, Jewish, pescatarians, etc.

Nice fish and chips. Quick service but this place can get very very busy. Higher price range but they do a higher quality of fish than most. The spicy gravy was nice. I cant complain that it was too hot so il give it a 5 star :')

Great local chippy, always fresh and tasty, Gluten Free Fish on Mondays is excellent, you really can't tell the difference to standard batter. 👍

The fish was ok but I have never had chewy chips before!! It was very quiet in the shop so wondering if the chips had been sat there a while and maybe re fryed Not normal quality , very disappointing .

Just had fish and chips here for the first time, and last. 25% fish, 75% thick crusty tasteless batter. The fish part was very dry. Pretty awful. The shop itself and staff were very organised. Shame about the products

The best chippy I’ve tried in the Altrincham area and we’ve tried a few that are not so good. Consistently great food and staff always friendly. I’d recommend the tartar sauce.

The best fish n chips in north west period .. I am a big fan of this place. Always fresh fish and steaming hot chips. The service is excellent and the staff polite and friendly. The place is always very clean. Price is reasonable and portion huge.

Skinny, small fish and soggy chips.Threw most of it in the bin. Overpriced. A barm cake is 80 pence. Excessive packaging. Staff dutiful but not actually friendly. Felt like a nuisance not a customer. Will not be going back. The owner should get out and about in the country and see what other chip shops are doing.

Fish left out for an hour before being served cold. Quality since lockdown gone down a cliff. Trip advisor reviews confirm this.
