Living in various place around South and Central Manchester, I've tried most Chinese takeaways and restaurants in the area. This is without question the best Chinese I have ever tried in my life. And that's not hyperbole; it's genuinely legendary around Bowdon. The wealthy order it in quantity for their parties, the working class around Bowdon Vale look forward to it as their Friday night treat. I even knew a guy who would eat it every single night after work. You can't do better than the New Bowdon.

The food isn’t authentic Chinese and new bowden. They may have had better days. Firstly very defensive management , trying to explain that hot days on the English Callander makes them cook differently. I don’t understand ? We ordered sweet and sour chicken. The color was translucent if at all opaque in color. Lacked any flavour resembling sweet and sour. The argument they gave here when we returned the food was it is a hot day. The salt and pepper chicken was like eating pebbles , and had absolutely no flavour of Cantonese’s salt and pepper chicken. The curry sauce we asked for was pasty and overly salted. The yeung chow fried rice , had no color or flavour from the char Sui. ( they substitute this with ham. Unless you tell them ). We called back to explain how bad the food was. We offered to bring the food over. The owner and his wife said yes ok. They rang us back a few minutes later telling us not to bring this in and to be reasonable. I don’t understand when we arrived back there why they didn’t look at the food. Instead he told us it was 1 hour since the order. We explained the order was ready at 6.55 pm. And we picked up and drove home and opened the food by 7.15. We called back at 7.20 to tell them this is inedible. They attempted to palm me off with £20. Which I don’t need. It was the principle. We also said look at your food cooked. They refused to do so and continued serving others. It’s fine. If they are allowed to get away with this. My approach would be respect all paying custom and at least show the desire to put thing right. Anyhow , they wanted to ignore this , and we want to make sure other customers don’t just order from here without giving others around the area a second chance.

Order was quoted between 20-40mins, came 1 hour 30mins later, shocking service and lied to each time we rang up to chase the order. Strongly would not recommend.

Ordered salt and pepper ribs.... they sent salt and pepper pieces of pork!!! Not a rib in sight and when l phoned to complain l got nothing but abuse. Keep well away.

By far the best Chinese takeaway locally. Online ordering is simple, the food is incredible and our deliveries always arrive ahead of schedule. Unlike Evri their delivery guys always find our house and always arrive with a smile. Keep up the good work guys!

Awful, the delivery didn't arrive. Attempted for over an hour to contact them. They hung up the 1st 2 times I was connected , then asked if I could come and collect it as it was here waiting. No thank you, I'll pass on a cold takeaway.

Absolutely devastated with the service, quality and above. I ordered my food for home delivery and estimated time was around 8:05-8:25 I rang at 8:30 requesting where my food was. They said it just left the restaurant. I rang again at 9:10 (still haven’t received) they called saying the driver is outside. I’ve been sitting in reception for the past half hour waiting for my food which I have not received still. This place either needs new staff or this restaurant will go out of business sooner. I’m aware of busy times but don’t feed false information and make someone wait nearly 2 hours for their food when they still have not received anything. Ridiculous

Ordered fillet steak in Cantonese sauce it’s packed full of onions sauce is okay not rich enough for my liking . And it’s very pricey . Average come on new Bowdon up your game

Place a £73 order and after 90mins 23 called. They said driver had left and as we are 7mins away we called again after 20 we called to cancel. They tried to off us 20% discount for next order but we said no. They then said to go outside and there was still no car. Driver turned up 1hr 45 mins later to which we said we did t want. We are trying to get our monet back. Do not use!!

Lovely food, we’ve had takeaway a few times and it’s always been prompt.

Ordered through Deliveroo. Thought we’d try somewhere new. Estimated delivery time of 40 mins. It was double that; it eventually turned up 1hour 20 mins after ordering. I put a first call in to chase up delivery and there was an appalling lack of conflicting information. First they were waiting for one item to be cooked (but don’t worry the rest of the order hadn’t been waiting around to get cold), then they were waiting for a Deliveroo driver, then they said it was ‘just about to leave with driver’ (it’s a 7 minute drive). 20 mins later no sign of food. I put a second call in to be told it left 20 mins ago; my response was it is far too late to be delivered and if it did leave 20 mins ago it is likely to be cold when it gets here and I will send it back and get a refund. At this point the delivery driver knocks in the door and when trying to explain it’s been far too long etc the guy on the phone says ‘whatever’ and hung up. Honestly pretty shocked. Zero ability to deal with customers and zero customer service. Delivery driver was left to deal with it. Frankly by this stage we fed us and out two hungry children and chalked it down to experience.The food itself was ok. Portions big but it wasn’t hot. We won’t be ordering again and I would not recommend it to anyone else, there are much better options.

Been ordering from the new bowdon for over 2 years now (the only Chinese we order), tonight I went and picked up my usual order (boiled rice, salt and pepper chicken,curry sauce & chips) i live just near partington and they deliver to us usually but tonight we were passing through bowdon so picked it up on the way home. Upon getting home they have given us noodles but no rice (no one in my family eats noodles) we phoned saying we have no rice and don’t eat noodles to be told ‘your a-bit far I will give u free rice next time keep the noodles for free’ I replied ‘I don’t like noodles’ and was told noodles are nicer than rice!!! Not happy at all ! no sense of loyalty to there customers. Zero customer service skills. Very rude ! I live too far for you to correct a mistake you made but not far when you’re coming to drop off my food and collect money like the past 60+ times I have ordered ! .I feel like because they already have my money they don’t care even if I have ordered for over 2 years! .They have now lost a loyal customer, ‘too far’ simply isn’t good enough when you would usually deliver to us

Great food, huge portions just took too long and forgot the pancakes.

Had a local Chinese takeaway about a month ago and it was poor. New Bowden is a cut above. High quality takeaway which exceeded expectations.

Ordered from just eat and the quality and portion sizes were incredible.

What a pleasant surprise. Delivery by a lovely gentleman. Portion sizes are huge and we were given a free dish. Food was tasty and enjoyable. Our first time ordering and will most definitely return.

This takeaway is incredible and we found it in Just Eat! Very fresh food. Portion sizes huge, the food is excellent and good packaging. Delivery driver very polite and arrived earlier than delivery slot! Well done guys!

Really delicious food I often go here because I live extremely close. One thing which takes the last star away is the male staff member when he answers the phone he never listens to me which is a bit annoying because I have to repeat myself lots of times.

Could be better. Always gets orders mixed up. Curry's are awful soups okay. Chow mein not bad hit too much vegetables in it. You wait too long for your order so if you're hungry don't go here.

Happy to cater to my odd requests (extra meat no veg), owners are nice & chatty.
