The meals and the cask ales are served to a high standard by friendly staff. The manager Carl is always happy to chat, particularly about the cask ales!

Lovely experience in one of the outdoor pods which we were able to book online with a few hours notice, they are brilliant to watch the world go by along the canal and enjoy some delicious food. Service was great and the waitress couldn’t be more helpful. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others.

Excellent service and great staff. Prawn cocktail recommended. Disappointed with vegetable option frozen carrots and peas had no taste also thin fries poor quality should go for hand cut chips if offered. Steak was good . Desert brownie was excellent. Great establishment clean and well laid out. Just needs food improving.

First impressions……a great big WOW, only ventured inside briefly, the staff were very helpful, we stayed for a couple sat in a heated pod next to the canal with amazing clear views……would we come again? Absolutely, five stars from usX

Good pub on the canal. 4 ales on..three from local tatton brewery and a wainwrights golden. I tried one of the tatton ales and it was really well kept, they obviously take pride in their beers. Plenty of parking. Does food and can sit inside or out in one of the little pods. Friendly service. 🍻 🦉

The place is nice (location) , but the service rubbish. I have ordered a meal for my daughter three times, they say it will come and we waited for more than 1 hour and at the end she said I didn’t put the order for you!! By the way The coffee and pudding were just okay not that good.

We were warmly welcomed we had booked. Felt a bit squashed between 2 tables with good views (Ours no view) Half an hour wait for food they didn't seem that busy. When it arrived the beef was tough. Aftee we had ordered they changed the prices putting everything on the Sunday menu up by £1 each. They changed our beef for turkey but then when we asked for the bill it was at the more expensive price Pretty disappointed as we have eaten there before and not had so many issues

Went here for lunch on Sunday 16th July after a previous visit where I had noticed how amazing the food looked! Both myself and my friend had the Sunday roast and I have to say, it was one of the best roast dinners I have ever had (and I've had a fair few! 😂) Despite my best efforts, I was too full to finish it off but I had eaten a starter and my friend had a dessert, both of which were delicious 😋 A lovely pub with a great, chilled atmosphere and I'm sure I'll be going back again very soon.

Can’t fault this lovely pub. The staff are excellent it was just like being with your friends they couldn’t have treated us any better. We will definitely be back. Food was lovely, atmosphere lovely, the setting is beautiful and so clean. But as I said the staff made it couldn’t ask for more. They made out little boy so welcome he loved it and so did we. Thank you team barn owl see you very soon xxxx

Sat in a pod. It was lovely. Enjoyed watching the boats go past. The food was lovely we both had the steak and onion baguette that came with chips and coleslaw. Great value. Waitress was really friendly and had a laugh and joke with us. Shame the boat is parked up there spoiling the view from the majority of the pods. I’ve been a few times for drinks at night the sunsets are lovely. Would recommend to anyone

Staff accommodating and polite, no issues there at all. Food wise....meh. Sorry. I perhaps had expectations set too high from pictures, how it looks from the outside etc etc. The food wasn't awful by any stretch, but the curry was watery and the scampi just very, very basic. Felt like a Spoons type meal in terms of quality.

Have visited twice this year and found staff very helpful and polite. Lovely views. Menu varied enough to please all the family. We visited this week and sat in one of the pods. Kids loved the experience of being isolated but still being able to see the cows in the field and the ducks and barges on the canal. The pods have plastic zip up rain and wind protectors, heater and service bell. They loved the wooden carvings of owls and bears too. Overall this place is very clean and felt Covid safe.

Amazing !! We sat in one of the pods outside with our dog, heaters very warm. Service great and very fast. Food was hot and lovely. Just overall lovely experience, will 110% be going again :)

Wasn't sure about this place from looking at the outside but proved to be superb, great food at really good prices, new 'pods' to sit outside with heaters in them if needed and great view of canal and fields beyond.

Great food and friendly staff. Over 60's small portion meals available. Lovely view over the canal.

The food and service were really good. You could tell the food was freshly cooked and tasted great. The letdown is the atmosphere. it's quite clinical. Yes, you have the canal, but it's a shame the layout and table and chairs have not been thought through more. Otherwise, this would have been 5 stars.

Loved it but didn't like how we seemed pestered because we hadn't booked and marched to a table that we didn't want to sit at when we only popped in for a drink.....we asked to sit in a pod outside and we enjoyed the evening from then onwards.

There is a group of us that goes to the barn owl about every 6weeks. We are all over a certain age, so we have the pensioners meal. Good value for money. In June we are trying one of the pods. Lovely and friendly staff, good value for money, what more do you want. Try it. Well worth the visit. Lovely views through the large windows over the countryside or ducks on the canal.

Good food and nice venue beside the canal. You can sit outside and there are some individual cabins along the canal also. Good value and choice for the 2 or 3 course pensioner menu. You need to bear in mind that they stop serving food at 9 and close at 10 if you like to take your time between courses.

Had a large party and organising with the staff was very very easy. Food was beautiful and very generous portions. A special shout out to Sophie I believe her name was (pink hair) who made sure we were all fed. Watered and looked after this evening. Thank you for a fabulous night. See you next month!!!

Fantastic location and great view of the countryside. Enjoyed a few drinks here after a long walk. We hadn't reserved so sat on a numbered tables by the canal. Reason for the low rating is the inn was taking food orders from the tables right next to us (tables in pods ) but refused to take our orders asking us to come to the bar, order and pay straight up. It was all very putting off. Didn't order any food then. Had drinks and left.

Gem of a find. Lovely place to eat. Large portions of lovely food at reasonable prices, hot and delicious. Ample space to park and once inside plenty of spaces either in the main lounge, conservatory or outdoor pods. Quick service from friendly and efficient staff. Lovely views at rear and next to the canal. You ideally need to book in advance as gets busy. Highly recommended

Lovely restaurant by the canal. We were lucky enough to get a table by the window and with it being a perfectly sunny day, the view was spot on! We both had fish dishes, sea bass and fish and chips which were tasty.

Always one step ahead for looking after it's customers love the out side pods with table service and fantastic views over North Cheshire. Excellent quality 👌.

Lovely view of canal and open countryside from main dining area but also nice conservatory and outside dining huts facing canal. Menu very good value ( espec senior citizen one) and food was excellent and generous portions. Friendly staff who really care!

Eight of us visited today and all had excellent food, loved it with the steak and ale pie a popular choice. Maybe even bettered by the excellent service and friendly staff. I recommend the heated pods next to the canal which can seat 6 in comfort.

Pub right on the canal with great views. Arrived mid afternoon and the pub was full with diners .We just wanted a drink ,so were taken to a pod outside which was great. After our first drink we tried to order another drink via the button in the pod, after several attempts we gave up paid and left.

👍 We went for a joint family birthday meal. Lovely venue with nice staff and a great outdoor area for the kids when the weather is a little more appealing. It was a very busy afternoon so service was a little slower than expected which I understand with working in hospitality myself. Our server altho...
