Abysmal.. Partner was ringing all week as my stepdaughter wanted a baby hamster, they said x amount on their own or cheaper with a cage (we'd already spent £70 on a cage, all setup). Come the day of purchase they refused the sale as their supply was short and were only willing to sell to customers buying a cage at the same time (extra £39), we went elsewhere and now she's happy.

Bought a fish tank the assistant helped us find everything we needed and helped carry everything to the car even though it was raining

Got 4 fish from here, very helpful and very knowledgeable. My 8 year old loves visiting, they also have budgies/ ginea pigs/hamsters and rabbits.

Lovely pet shop done a couple of recies to scout for aquarium stuff impressed with their stock of fish some unusual Staff are always obliging and knowledgeable friendly nice atmosphere here. Noticed plenty of furry friends accessories hutches plenty to choose from bedding food etc. Aquarium plants too at a reasonable price, I'll be stocking up my tanks from here Highly recommended

Good selection of stuff for fish. Staff seem friendly and they know their stuff about aquatics! Nice that dogs are allowed in store too (we saw a few which was fun) and the staff seemed happy to help when asked. Unfortunately, I am a bit concerned about the living conditions of the small animals and birds that live on the premises. It seems they are provided with the bare minimum in terms of environment and enrichment. The rabbit in particular was in a hutch that was too small (very low to the ground despite overhearing the assistant tell another customer it is frightened of dogs). The birds seem to be packed in small enclosures, they seemed stressed. Yes, it is an old store, dark and a bit run down but if they cannot provide an appropriate space for live animals, they should not be there. It is a shame because I can tell the store owners mean well and are trying their best!

Got my fish tank from here with my dad a few weeks ago and all the plants and a few fish. The gentleman that served me was very knowledgeable and helped me get all the correct stuff in place in order for my tank to work and so far I've had zero problems I will be going back for all of my tanks stuff in the future really good local pet store highly recommend.

Purchased one of the large aquarium castles online. This was delivered in 3 working as per the invoice instructions and was well packaged to avoid damage. Item seems good quality and now makes a real difference to my aquarium.

Saved my life! My filter broke in my tank and my fish were gasping for air. Called them up and he said to come to the shop and he would help me out. Brilliant advice, helped mt buy the right filter and some solution to clean the water of algae, very helpful and extremely polite. I cannot thank you enough, I will be back very soon for some more weather loaches :)

Excellent family run pet store have everything you need for all kinds of pets, The staff are extremely friendly polite and helpful will go the extra mile to help with what you need. They stock a good selection of fish,foods equipment and aquariums for us fish keepers and have a wealth of knowledge when asked about problems. They also have a nice selection of foods and equipment for birds, rabbits, and other rodents dogs cats ect, birds and rodents are also available to buy here. And if you are into fishing they also sell a wide variety of rods and bate & tackle aswell. Love pet man's store has been a icon of ashtons old town highstreet aslong as I can remember worth a visit 😀

Conditions for the animals aren't the best. They know about their fish and have good standards for that but for the rest of the animals they sell. They don't know much and sell a lot of dangerous products. Cheap shop.

Helpful staff, sturdy handmade hutches that you can buy there and then, will definitely return. These pet stores seem to have better advice than the commercial ones like Pets At Home.

My dog had a severe looking ear infection during this lockdown period.. I asked the guys here for advise as opposed to going to the vet and they sold me Odotex ear drops for a fiver.. Within a couple of days the ear looked so much better and healed within a week! Unbelievable and I probably saved myself about £50 at least. Thanks very much

I shop here really often, even though I don't live in Ashton anymore I still travel there to go pet man, it's been there along as I can remember (obviously was across the road from where it is now) I can't do a review that will give it enough justice, the staff are absolutely amazing, they go the extra mile for their customers and have a wealth of knowledge, I always leave feeling valued, they are really friendly, outgoing and helpful. I won't shop anywhere else now their prices are really good too.
