Lovely place. I have never explored this part of the country. Visitors centre was filled with interesting information and guides of things to do. Everything around there seems to close at 5 - 6pm including the car park, so check timings before you head off on a walk. It is a beautiful place, and i had a thoroughly lovely day.

What a lovely village to explore visitors centre with cafe toilets and public houses surrounded by beautiful scenery. We had a walk around the outskirts of the village taking in cavecove, Castle, caverns. The walk was about 3hrs long trek but great scenery with the spooky low cloud. Great day out 👌👍

Parking was £6 all day(coins only)machines.Tiolets and shops on site. From there we walked up Mam Tor then over Back Tor and Lose Hill then back to Castleton for a well deserved drink. AMAZING VIEWS.

It's a s.all compact village with lots of jewelry shops and tea rooms. Closes at 16.20 most shops are shutting up.

A visitors centre situated in the centre of Castleton, next to a car park. Toilets available. A cafe inside the centre. Inside you will find gifts, descriptive write ups, history and information about the whole peak district, not just the immediate area. Local maps and guide books can be purchased. A great place to visit to assist in any vacation.

After spending most of my teen and adult life caving in the peaks. I’m ashamed to say I’d never actually spent much time above ground exploring the landscape and villages other than the pubs we used to go to after a trip. Well now I’m kicking myself as Castleton is beautiful the walks and hikes around this village are simply stunning and the village makes for a great start. There is everything you need there. Car parks, loos , shops etc. plus you have all the show caves to visit and plenty of places for food and drinks. Plus Blue John don’t forget the Blue John.

We had a lovely day in Castleton. We visited The Three Roofs and the Blueberry Cafe and some of the gift shops. There are also some lovely walks there, the famous caves and mam tor. It's a great day out.

A great little visitor centre, with friendly staff, plenty of information on walks in the area, there is a car park but the visitor centre doesn't own it, and is pay and display, it has a café and toilets, there is even a small museum which was very interesting, worth a visit if you're in the area.

Lovely village. Yummy Ice-Cream. Worth a visit. If you're not willing to pay for parking there are spaces on in residential streets. BUT PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK THEIR DRIVEWAY OUT OF RESPECT.

Nice icy mountains, best for people with trecking interest. Parking during season is bit of a concern. Vast serene meadows, hills, sharp cliffs, totally beautiful.

Good sized, paying, car park. Free toilets on site. For public toilets they were clean and tidy. Easy to find. Ideal location for any level of walker to walk around the Peak District National Park. The traffic can be a bit interesting at one end of Castleton, where cars are able to park for free on the side of the road.

Secure busy carpark. Small food restaurant and free toilets which are actually clean. The carpark is cheap but not needed if your going for treck up the hills. Many free spots.

They have a few room (free) museum that gives a little history and info about the area, a cafe, and nice gift shop. It's worth a brief stop, and easy to access as its right off the car park.

Clean and in excellent distance of the local attractions and sights to see! We did sunrise on the mother hill 🌞 Don't park on the roadsides around here wardens operate at weekends, we saw lots of people getting tickets!

Handy car park, visitor centre with café, very friendly service and a decent cup of tea, just along the road from a pretty row of houses/shops. There was also a very friendly outdoor clothing shop a 30 second walk away. We stopped after a drive up the valley towards Mam Tor.

Fantastic shop and information centre with a small museum like part at the back. Some beautiful photographs to buy! Staff were very happy to help and very polite. Cafe right next to it. Dog friendly!

A must if you're visiting the area. You can buy all the maps you might need & there's a huge choice of guide books. Ideal place to buy gifts - plenty of local items. There is an exhibition area full of information - didn't stop this time as we've visited before. Large car park beside the centre.

The visitor centre has a wealth of leaflets, maps and an informative staff member available to answer questions and offer advice. A small but informative museum is within the centre. A large pay and display car park is behind the centre and the best for walking the town.

Although the car park was full on Bank Holiday Friday we walked back for the toilets, and for am ice-cream. Very popular place.

Castleton Visitor Centre, which combines the village Historical Society's museum and the National Park Information Centre.

Ngl, I didn’t go to the exact visitor centre, but a 1 minute drive and you will find the most BEAUTIFUL view. Of course, you’ve got to climb a good 20 minutes to reach the top of the mountain but the end result is WAY WORTH IT!!

Little tourist town surrounded by nature beauty. A number of eating out places as available, and some offer vegan meals too. Must visit.

👍👍 Would be a shame if the shops close after all these years. Has always been one of my favourite haunts.
