Categorically wasted time. Drove to this store to ask if they could fit a dash cam. The store was overly busy with no staff to really advise. Staff dismissed the enquiry with ‘it will probably be fine’, giving no interest to check. Returned next day for a fitting appointment - left the car for a while to get a call informing they cannot complete the installation. No fault of the fitter staff who were apologetic however Halfords policies are simply nonsense. What business allows you to purchase a product before checking compatibility. This aside, what business 1. Cancels fitting appointments on the day without notice til you arrive… 2. Poorly advises customers and lets them make wasted journeys (x3). Halfords are a no go in future. Shambles.

I recently had an unfortunate experience with Halfords' Altrincham store, specifically regarding their inventory management system. After placing an order online for a Michelin Tyre Inflator, I was informed that the product was available at the Altrincham store. However, I received a call from the store later, after enduring a long wait on the customer care line, informing me that the product was actually not available. This lack of accurate inventory information is highly unacceptable and inconvenient for customers. One of the key pillars of a successful retail experience is ensuring that the products displayed as available for purchase are indeed in stock. In this case, Halfords' Altrincham store failed to deliver on this basic expectation. It is disappointing that I had to spend valuable time waiting on hold and making inquiries, only to discover that the product I had ordered was not actually available. The lack of resolution provided by the store representative who contacted me was another letdown. Instead of offering an alternative or attempting to rectify the situation, they simply suggested canceling the order. Such a response displays a lack of proactive customer service and a disregard for the inconvenience caused. Fortunately, there was another Halfords store in White City that was able to assist me with my purchase. Their staff was helpful, and I was able to obtain the desired Michelin Tyre Inflator from their inventory. This stark contrast in service and inventory management between the Altrincham store and the White City store further highlights the need for improvement at the former. Inventory management is a critical aspect of any retail operation. Accurate and up-to-date inventory information allows customers to make informed decisions and avoids unnecessary inconvenience. Halfords' Altrincham store should prioritize the implementation of robust inventory management systems to avoid similar issues in the future. It is essential for them to ensure that the products listed as available for purchase are indeed accessible to customers. Overall, my experience with Halfords' Altrincham store was disappointing due to their flawed inventory management. While the issue was eventually resolved by another Halfords location, it should not have been necessary for me to seek assistance elsewhere. I hope that Halfords takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to prevent such inconveniences from occurring in the future.

Staff were very helpful in finding the correct part for my car. The mechanic then fitted it quickly and skillfully. The whole exercise was quick and easy.

Just experienced the worst customer service from helen. As the only other customer queuing, she thought a nice casual chit chat with the customer Infront of me for more than 10minutes would be ok. Then when serving me, she was not polite at all, especially when asking for my email for a receipt. Upon completion of my purchase, zero communication on if the transaction was complete, not even eye contact, didn't even think to hand the item back to me. She then proceeded to walk off dragging a box ready for home time. The worst. Never coming back to this store.

New car was showing low battery power so I went to Halfords Altrincham to buy a jump starter. The staff member explained how it worked and offered to check the battery. He did so promptly. The battery was perfect and he explained how and why the warning came on - the dealer had supplied a new battery as he had told me but had not coded in the new battery. This was excellent service on a nasty, wet dark night. For ease of identification the staff member was very tall with a reddish beard. This was the usual level of service from Halfords - I had my XK8 serviced there for years and will now have my new F type serviced there - all because of consistently excellent service

I ordered some paint online. I then received a phone call from the local store to say that it was out of stock, although it was showing in stock on their system, but they get it in a few days later which was fine with me. I then get an email from Halford's saying "We've cancelled your order" followed by " Dear Alan, We're sorry to see that you've cancelled your order" and that I'd get an email from the "Refund Team" for the refund - which never came. As no refund appeared after a week I went into the store to find that the order was there and hadn't been cancelled. Apparently if there is a stock issue the order is automatically cancelled. I have no problem with the staff at our local branch. They're great - but Halfords needs to get it's IT sorted as it's sometimes baffling for customers!!

The car battery itself is great but I disagree with the procedure carried out by the technician when changing it. He removed the positive connection first, thereby allowing the possibility of shorting the ratchet handle to the chassis with the obvious results. Of course the negative connection should be removed first and re-connected last to remove that possibility.

Terrific Service from the very pleasant and helpful Meg who helped me book my car in, to Nathan who fitted a new battery for me. Great service all round. Thank you

ATTENTION!!! the price tags on the goods are still under the reign of the Queen. You will pay completely different prices at the checkout. It's not the first time this has happened to me. They'll tell you that I'm throwing people around, but I'm not. There's only one item on the hook. So customers wouldn't do that. But they have good tactics to rip you off. Most people don't even look at how much they pay and that's the point. By the time you notice it at home, it's too late.

Terrible customer service. I ordered a number plate online, my details and payment were accepted but when I went to collect it at the store I was told they couldn't make the plate as it was for an older (1975) format. Although they cancelled my order I'm still waiting for a refund 2 weeks later despite contacting their online help several times. I subsequently bought a new plate at a local motor parts store with no problems and great, friendly service. Also it was cheaper and included the fixings!

Not a great experience at all. Asked to buy a bike that was in the store. They said “no, this is the display one. We have another one you can buy right now”. But the other one has to be sold with a mudguard, a water bottle and a light and would cost £80 more! I asked if I could buy the bike without the massively over priced extras and was told no. So I ordered a bike on Saturday with the pick up date the following Tuesday. I then received an email a few moments later saying my order was cancelled. I called up to rectify this and was told it was a mistake. The woman on the phone told me my bike might be ready on Tuesday but it may have to be Thursday. On Tuesday morning I got an email from halfords saying my bike was ready to be collect. I went to the shop at 5 o’clock and was told it wasn’t even in the building and the email must have been a mistake. I then called the store to ask why I was sent this email and they told me that my bike was more likely to be ready on Friday! They had two of the bike I wanted in the store and wouldn’t sell me either of them! I opted to cancel the order and get a refund! Almost a week of messing about! I’ll go to Decathlon instead!

Went to Halfords in Altrincham today when I discovered my oil cap was missing. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Really fantastic team and big thank you to Carl who went above and beyond to help and reassure me. Mary G

Diabolical! I bought a bike online for my son which could only be purchased prebuilt. So we went to collect it, bike looked great, so we took it on to the car park so he could try it and the front brake locked on immediately, fair enough sometimes these things happen. Wheeled the bike on its back wheel back into the store and the lads at the bike section adjusted the brake, all good or so I thought! Three weeks later my son took the bike out and the back wheel fell off whilst he was riding obviously causing damage to the bike and luckily just a graze to my sons knee and hand, however it could have been a lot worse it was only pure luck he wasn't on a busier road. So I raised a complaint through the telephone number which took 20 minutes to actually speak to someone and was advised someone would contact me within 48hrs, seven days later I got a call asking me to take the bike back to store so they could check it over which I did and two hours later received a call saying bike had been checked and I could collect when convenient. At this point I had not even received an apology so I again spoke to the store manager and advised I still wasn't happy and what were they going to do about it, I was asked what I wanted and I said I wanted a replacement bike as the bike is now damaged due to there incompetent build and lack of quality check or my money back. The manager straight away said I could go back into the store and get a refund which I have since done. Apart from the obvious issues listed above Halfords is set up in such a way that you are unable to escalate your complaint to anyone else, I believe so that people just get to the point where they just give up. I will never use Halfords again!

Ordered a new bike & was spending appx £500 in total, including service package and for Halfords to build the bike including the accessories I'd bought from them. When we ordered, there were only 2 staff on and 1 till & it took ages to get sorted but they had what I wanted so we stuck it out. When I collected my new bike (which was supposed to have been through pre delivery inspection) various parts were loose, the frame was scratched in two places, some of the accessories I'd chosen clearly weren't appropriate (obscured lights or too big to fit frame with other stuff) and it was like pulling teeth to get each and every issue looked at and finally resolved with different staff having to take over because staff just walked away or disappeared. Whilst the two young lads we primarily dealt with (on ordering & collection) were pretty good, friendly etc, they were reliant on the support of more senior staff (who were supposed to have done the PDI, sign off on that and who could see the bike collection unfurling as a bit of a catastrophe) who clearly didn't want to be at work as they were stomping about sharing their foul mood with everyone - colleagues and customers alike. We were pleasant & patient throughout whereas others might not have been so tolerant with such poor service and stinky attitudes. Hoping I don't have any issues with my new bike but if I do, I'll swerve this store and go to another one instead.

Always take double payments if you pay via PayPal then refuse to refund. This usually happens if you attempt to pay via PayPal. Be careful.

I had bought my 3 year old a bike online from another retailer for Christmas and needed to build it. I decided this would be an easy process and started building 3 days before Christmas because there were build instructions and a video link. After getting started the instructions were based on a different bike and had parts that weren’t related to the bike I’d bought. After struggling for a couple of hours and nearly breaking the brakes on the bike I decided I needed some help. I put the bike in the boot and went to Halfords. I spoke to a lad called Aaron who duly consulted his colleague Tyler. Tyler stated that they were quite booked up with bike building and I could see this was true by the large number of boxed bikes behind him waiting to be built. After hearing my predicament he said he would try and fit my bike in over the weekend if I was willing to leave it with him. Anyway, less than 24 hours later the email arrives to state my bike is ready for collection. Can’t fault the service. I will definitely return to this store for any future cycling needs due to the customer service from Tyler and Aaron.

My experience of visiting Halfords in Altrincham left an unpleasant feeling. My son and I brought the bike on Sunday 17.12.23 at about 1pm. For repair under warranty (in this store we bought wheels, tubes for them and filed slime for their long-term use). Bicycle repair workers had to repair the rear wheel. They took the bike sluckly after looking at our receipt. They put it near the till... and said to come in half an hour. There were no visitors at that time. It wasn't a peak time to be very busy. After half an hour, my son came back for the bike and... they just pumped up the wheel without repairing anything. When he got home, he found that the wheel was flat again. How the child will get to school tomorrow, I don't understand. The two workers just took advantage of the situation that there was no adult nearby who would explain to them how to do their work. I'm not happy to visit this centre. I’m very disappointed. The guys don't want to work, they're just waiting for their working day to finish to do nothing. I highly do NOT recommend visiting this centre Halfords in Altrincham.

Having not been in this store for a long time I've recently been in twice. Once for a headlight replacement and once for a quick bicycle service and repair for my 4 year old's bike. Both times the service has been exemplary, staff delightful and quality of products outstanding. Prices are competitive, or less, than other retailers or online stores. Very pleased indeed.

Popped into the store today to pick up a much needed Foot Pump & Digital Multimeter. The shelves were sold out but Elaine one of the stores supervisors saved the day by finding stock in the warehouse. So pleased Elaine was absolutely excellent. Will definitely visit again👍

The whole process was easy from ordering on line and then fitting the number plates. The assistant went above and beyond. After I had the number plates fitted he took the time to explain Dash Cams and to recommend one for me. Excellent Service.

The guy who helped me change my break light bulb on 5.11.23 around 4pm (sorry I forgot to get his name). He was very kind, approachable, and well skilled. Thank you so much.

The staff In store helped us choose and also gave us advice on which bike and accessories to buy for our son. A fab service on a very hot evening in store! Thanks to you all for your help and excellent customer service. We have collected the built bike today and it’s perfect. Thanks again to you all :))

Called at Halfords during the week. Found a sidelight bulb and wipers quickly. At the till I was offered fitting which I accepted. I'm currently on crutches and fitting wipers was not possible. A member of staff followed me to my car and fitted them in 'record time'. Very personable and capable. Always liked Halfords, a reliable business. Rather liked the look of some of their bikes!

A lovely gentleman called Adam sorted my new bike out for me, which had so many issues! Very thorough & informative and wouldn't let me go until he was 100% satisfied he'd checked everything over for me plus got me to "test drive" around the cat park whilst he watched, to ensure everything was OK & I was happy with the feel of it. Colleague of the month I say!

Excellent service, albeit I was only collecting a pre-paid order. The premises were clean, well stocked & bright. The staff were attentive. It gave the impression of a ‘one stop shop’. Plenty of parking places. Thanks

If you know what you want for. The store and your going in to pick it. And buy it. Perfect!! If however you want to have a little assistance, don’t get your hopes up, maybe it was bad timing but there were little or no staff available. The till set up is really strange and compartmentalised. Why they do this I don’t know, it just limits people looking for help, thanks to the gentleman on the till who found a missing member of staff to help me purchase a bike for my son. The store in my opinion was mediocre and understaffed.

Polite, prompt, and so professional! Excellent advice from both the men who worked on my car. Immediate attention and nothing was too much trouble. I felt completely COVID secure, and both young men were delightful! Have joined the Halfords Motoring Club as I felt so impressed by everything about the service. Thank you!

  • 5/5 Lois S. 2 years ago on Google
On Friday afternoon, the young man on the till was extremely helpful to me. The item I needed said it was out of stock so I didn’t check the shelves. I asked if the was something else that was compatible. He checked his screen and agreed the screen said it was “out of stock” but he would go and recheck. He came back with my item and said that there had been three there. There stock on screen was obviously not up to date. As I’m an older lady I appreciated what he did for me and I thanked him for his help. Brownie points to him.

Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I am very pleased with the satnav which Alex recommended and which suits my requirements. The new wiper blades were fitted promptly and performed efficiently in the rain on my journey home! Many thanks to all the team.

I went to buy a bike for my youngest granddaughter’s birthday present. I went to halfords as I had bought her sisters from there last year. Unfortunately the service we received today was not as good. I went and asked for assistance (last time it was offered). The guy just pointed to the ones for her size….. he was no help choosing helmets either and couldn’t even manage to Open the fastening clasp! If this was the service I received last year I definitely would not have returned!!

I was concerned about my car battery. It was no problem for them to give it a free health check along with the alternator and starter motor. They will install various parts for a small fee. Great service. Thank you. Rob

Popped in this morning as wiper blades were dragging, lad on the til came out, had a look, found right ones and fitted them, all in the space of 10 minutes. Now work perfectly. Great service!

I went into the altrincham store to buy a car seat for my baby. I was served by a lovely gentleman called Aaron, he didn’t care that he was finishing in only a few minutes time. This guy took all his time to explain all the offers they had in store. He has an amazing customer service and just watching him interact with colleagues shows that he is also a great team player. I like coming to Halford for servicing and ever at related because the guys are good at what they do. I can’t complain. Keep up the good work Aaron.

Brought my car in for a brake check after hearing a grinding noise. Half the day later, I was told my brakes were in great shape with the pads and discs having plenty of life. The noise, I was told, was 'probably a pebble' and the technician 'couldn't hear the sound'. The sound only got worse over the rest of the week and brought it back. This time I was told I needed to change ALL pads and BOTH front discs and was charged almost £400. Which advice was the lie? Why should I trust them again?

Wow Helen McLoughlin at Halfords Altrincham what a superstar. She’s professional, helpful and even contacting me on her day off to let me know my grandsons bike was ready for collection. That is superb customer service. Helen booked me in for my dash cam again for my new car and kept me in the loop while I was waiting. 100% recommend Halfords and if you’re served by Helen then you will undoubtedly get a fabulous experience Cheers x

Reasonable price for a dashcam and fitting. Unfortunately, they didn't check in advance if they knew the fuse layout and couldn't fit it in my new Astra despite being advised it was the new model 2 weeks earlier. Fitting cost reimbursed but a bit frustrating.
