Brilliant service from these guys. Booked it in for an air con system check on Friday afternoon for 11.30 the next day. By 1pm the air con had been regased and was ice cold. Highly recommended.

New tyres and wheel alignment - we took our car here recently to have 2 new front tyres and the wheel alignment done which was £35 extra. The day after, we had the MOT done at our local garage. Two mechanics there agreed that the wheel alignment had not been done by Halfords as the track rod end locking nuts had not been released as they were still seized up with rust, and no evidence of even a spanner touching it or lubrication/heat being applied to release the nuts. They also said we should have been given a printout with before and after adjustment figures which Halfords could not provide as they had no machine. We took the car back to Halfords and eventually, they agreed to refund then said they would look at the car and adjust it. The mechanic played around for a few minutes then shouted out 'that's bang on!' The manager then told us the difference was marginal, about 1 degree and even showed us some new spanner marks on the rod and nut, even though they still appeared seized up with rust (in photos). They said they didn't need to use lubrication. We took their word for it and drove 15 miles back home, but noticed the car still veering off and now the steering wheel was shaking. We took the car back to our local garage who said the tracking was still out according to their machine and that the nuts had again not been undone. They had to apply heat to release them. They provided us with a printout showing the before and after figures showing the difference. They also had to apply the correct weights for the wheel balancing. Now the car is driving smoothly, even though it ended up costing more. Halfords - please don't underestimate our intelligence and deceive us. Provide more training and up to date equipment. Reinforce your smoking policy to your employees. Doesn't look good on arrival.

Dropped off my car for a free brake check after a couple of issues had been raised at the MOT. Within an hour they phoned to discuss what work needed done to improve my car, provided a (very reasonable) quote, carried out the repairs and had the car all sorted and ready to pick up within a few hours more. Really impressed, staff were friendly and professional throughout and the garage felt very covid safe

I got a puncture which was temporarily plugged by the RAC and I brought my car here the next day and they said said they would take a look. Later in the day i get a call saying they have been able to repair the tyre thus avoiding an expensive replacement. Very courteous and professional service. Thanks guys.

We took our vehicle for diagnotistic check for our air con. They re-gassed it but it still didn't work. So quoted that the job must be a compressor at £750. Since we were going on holiday that day we had to leave it and to be fair they offered a refund due to not having correctly diagnosed. However, 3 weeks on I am still waiting for the refund and after we took our car to our normal garage, it turns out they had over-gassed our car and no compressor worth £750 was needed. Very disturbing that they can mis-diagnose so massively, not able to re-gas correctly and then avoid paying the promised and agreed refund.

Took my car here 2 weeks ago to have two tyres replaced and wheel alignment. When I had my MOT a week ago at my local garage, they advised me that the wheel alignment that Halfords were supposed to have performed looked like it hadn’t been touched. I went back to Halfords the day after my MOT to get this checked again and they refunded me and did the wheel alignment again and said it was bang on but refused to give me a wheel alignment report which all garages supply except Halfords for some reason.. since I had the wheel alignment done for the 2nd time a week ago, my car has not been driving smooth and the steering wheel has been shaking/vibrating like crazy. I took it to my local garage today to get it checked out and they did another wheel alignment on the car and it turns out the wheel alignment that Halfords did was wrong. The mechanic had to use heat on the nuts to loosen them as they were that seized up and rusted , there is no way Halfords adjusted them. They also had to redo the wheel balancing as Halfords didn’t put enough weights on the wheels or in the right places on the wheels to balance them correctly . I’ve just had to pay £118 at my local garage to correct the wheel alignment and balancing that Halfords couldn’t seem to do properly 😡 now my car drives smooth again and steering wheel stopped shaking thanks to my local garage. Will never go back to Halfords after this.

Started off with a ~200£ servicing. But got a call about tire realignment, which I gave the go ahead for. I was told that it will cost ~600£. But , the bill had a fee of ~250£ for replacing all the tires. I never wanted the tire replaced. In fact, one of the tires was a brand new tire, replaced during the recent MOT I had done at the same Halfords center. So, a needless overcharge of ~250 for me. The alignment itself, was not complete, and the people said that they were not able to fix the alignment 100%. I was asked to go to my previous mechanic - who had installed the rear axle support. My previous local mechanic was able to fix the re-alignment for another ~40£. So around ~600 were charged for doing a ~40£ job and nothing substantial was done other than changing all 4 tyres, which I didn't ask for and wasn't needed ( The car just passed the MOT at the same Halfords center on the 5th of September . I am writing this on 9th of November. We have not taken the car out of Altrincham since then -- just to give you feel of our usage. Its pretty much pick and drop kids from/to school. I work from home - so no office commute as well. ) I am not car savvy and do not understand all the lingo. So unless you are an expert with cars, it wouldn't be wise to go to Halfords, because you can lose a lot of money for no apparent reason. 600 means a lot to me and my family. I have learnt a lesson, in a hard way.

Went for MOT as Craig has moved there from Kwik Fit and he has always given me a reason to do business with him. Great service and prompt as well.

Lack of care and attention putting the car back together after its major service. Not long after its Halfords service the plastic tray which protects the underside of the engine fell down while I was driving on the motorway as it hadn’t been properly fitted back on and had worked its way loose. If this had come off completely on the motorway it could have caused a serious accident. I had to take the car back twice before the tray was properly secured, and on the second visit they identified that the front brake covers were also damaged (the cause of noise), but couldn’t source new ones. They say that the brake covers are a separate issue, but we are pretty sure that it is linked to the tray coming off, as there hadn’t been any noise issues before that. The bottom line is the damage was caused by them not fixing the tray back on properly when they completed the service, and now we will need to pay more money to go and get it sorted at another garage. They admitted they should have warned us that they hadn’t been able to get the tray back on properly. Needless to say we won’t be trusting them to do another service.

I had a terrible experience today when I drove my car to get the air conditioning system checked, only to be told that they couldn't perform the service because they don't support the model of my car. However, when I made the reservation online, I provided them with the exact model information and even paid in advance. It is extremely frustrating and disappointing that they failed to fulfill their commitment. The lack of support for my car model should have been clearly communicated beforehand, and their online system should be updated accordingly. It is unacceptable to waste customers' time and money by providing false assurances and then failing to deliver on their promises. This level of incompetence reflects poorly on their professionalism and customer service. I strongly urge the company to improve their online system to accurately reflect the supported car models. Customers should not have to go through the inconvenience and frustration I experienced today. I will be seeking an alternative service provider who can fulfill their commitments and provide reliable and accurate information. Overall, I am highly dissatisfied and disappointed with the poor service and lack of professionalism exhibited by this company.

They offered a heavy discount to a female customer whilst overcharging me, in front of me. It later transpired that they hadn't logged my vehicle into the parking eye database, which led to me receiving a parking fine, due to, at best, their incompetence and negligence. Certainly, I won't be returning here again, and I advise you not to give them custom either.

Brought my car in with a dead battery. Bought a new one and they fitted it for free! Don't forget the garage is not part of the shop! Shop charges £20 for that. Took only10 mins.

I unfortunately had a puncture today, and thought I'd pop in to get the tyre repaired or changed and was met with a completely disinterested guy who told me it would be at least Wednesday before they "might" be able to fit me in, all while the garage was empty and the other mechanics were stood chatting to each other. Won't bother considering using Halfords again.

I dropped off my car for passenger side dipped beam light failure which happened due to moisture forming inside the whole light. First they did the diagnostics for full car to find out any electrical problems due to moisture later they confirmed that there is nothing electrical so we will put a new bulb and make sure that moisture wont form inside. so as per their instructions i have told them to proceed further to replace new bulb and agreed to pay for everything. but one hour later they called and told me that new bulb is not working and it might be due to electrical problems and told me to take to BMW. I agreed to do that but they charged for the Diagnostics and bulb also. i told them to replace bulb when they confirmed me that there is electrical problem based on the diagnosis report. When i went to collect the car they just give me some reasons and told me if we won't pay for the bulb they wont give the car. diagnostics they charged £49.99 and £63 for the bulb. i was happy to pay for Diagnostics but for the bulb i didnt feel this right even though i agreed to put new one after they confirmed there is no problems with the electrics. and they didnt even sort the moisture problem or atleast they didnt even try to explain about it.

The guys at Halfords Autocentre were welcoming and efficient in their work. Contacting the branch directly to make a booking by phone worked better than using the central number.

Don’t bother even waisting your time and money in this garage, I have visited many time and every time a problem occurs, they lost a piece of my callipers , can u believe it? Charged me for mobile 1 oil and put normal oil, changed wishbone and drop links for nothing , booked me for engine coolant service and couldn’t do it

Very helpful, speedy service by the mechanics and will definately be repeating my visit come MOT and Service time. Thanks Kat, mechanics and the rest of the staff

Staff were friendly and booking was easy but they missed obvious thing on the service such as windscreen wiper that needed replacing! Raises concerns what was serviced! To be fair when I complained they replaced for free but….!

I was a customer of this garage for 5 years and have always been happy with the service. Unfortunately I was hit with a £100 parking fine the last time I took my car here, because it is on a retail park with a 3-hour limit and the garage had moved my car to a space on this car park. The garage were unable to sort this out for me and my appeal was turned down. So I am no longer a customer. Edit: thanks for the response Halfords, but I did contact you twice already and the issue was not resolved - hence leaving this review…!

I always use this centre for all my cars needs. The guys there are friendly, knowledgeable, and go out of their way to make sure you understand what is going to happen and how much it will all cost. Always happy with the work done and, unlike some garages, the car is always non oily when picked up!

I took my car for a MOT here on Tuesday as the usual garage i go to is closed for the week and i thought a nationwide brand garage wouldn’t rip me off, i was wrong. Whilst the work they did due to the failed MOT is fine after i’d driven it home i noticed my warning light had come on and there was a message to check my daytime running lights. Obviously suspicious so i called my Dad and he said he’d come round today to have a look. The cover of my daytime running lights had been taken off and unplugged on both sides, it’s sickening to know that this person was trusted to fix my car and completely abused that so i’d come back unnecessarily and (presumably) help him reach his targets. I don’t know if all the mechanics are like him there but if you get C.A.Mayo RUN. I’m now seriously questioning if my suspension even needed to be fixed.
