You can’t come to Northumberland and not visit this museum. The people running it are really nice. We arrived just after the last entry time at 4.30 and whilst the doors were locked, the ladies let us in. The museum is excellent in recreating the time in which Grace Darling lived and really tells the story well. The times and hardships of life are incredible.

Tells the story of this brave lady who helped rescue people being shipwrecked on the Farne Islands. She buried in St Aidans Church opposite the museum, where there are also two memorials to her, one outside, and the original in the church itself.

I first read of Grace Darling when I was 7 and her story has always stayed with me. We saw her grave and also the house she was born and died in. It is now a shop. If you are in the area pop in, it has great information about Grace and her family, have a look around and please donate something to help keep the RNLI going in the area, remember they risk their lives voluntary to save others.

Fascinating, historical visit remembering the courageous and tragic death of the local heroine Grace Darling. See it in conjunction with the beautiful St. Aidan's church across the road, which includes the burial site of Grace. The museum is run and owned by the RNLI with the proceeds providing financial support. All for a very cause. If you're in Bamburgh don't miss it! It's free.

Grace Darling was a true hero and this is reflected within the museum, you will learn all you need to know about where she lived and all the events leading up to heroism. Across from the museum is where she is buried.

A really lovely place to visit, do watch the film and pop to St. Aidan's Church just across the road, where you can see Grace Darling's memorial coffin and the stained glass window of her accompanied by an Angel at either side. This isn't a ticketed event, just check the opening and closing times and you'll be fine. It's prob a 10 min walk from Bamburgh Castle at a standard pace.

Brought back memories from school for my partner as he learnt about Grace back in the day, hence his interest in visiting in the first place. Found it very informative, well laid out and presented facts and artefacts.

Really good. We learned lots about how a lighthouse keeper's family lived, apart from about the rescue itself.

Love this museum, visit every time we're in Bamburgh. Informative and interesting, each time there's something new added to the exhibit. Free to enter, donation given if you wish. Easy access for all. Also Grace Darling's grave is in cemetery directly opposite. Well worth taking the time to visit, and support the RNLI.

Very small exhibition but we still managed to stay a while. The children learned all about the history and there are some nice interactive parts for children. Its free entry too and links nicely with the area of Bamburgh.

Visited over summer with our 6 year old and 10 year old after youngest had learned about Grace Darling at school. Wasn’t expecting too much from a free museum, but we were amazed. Each display is carefully thought out, informative and wonderfully interactive. We all enjoyed our visit so great for all ages, the children got to enjoy craft activities and the volunteers couldn’t have been nicer. Grace Darling’s life is explained so well throughout the whole museum, and there has clearly been care put into telling her story.

Really educational and well laid out on the two floors. The panoramic view room has a Grace Darling short potted history film show which is enscapulating. Great for kids with lots of hands on , deffo keeps them interested. Support the RNLI by buying from the shop, they are volunteers after all. We'll worth a visit and it's FREE!

Fantastic little museum with stories from the RNLI and a particularly brilliant story of a real hero - Grace Darling. You read it but find it hard to believe, that such an action by Grace was actually possible but she did it. They should make a movie dedicated to Grace.

Lovely little museum with very interesting exhibits. Friendly, helpful staff too. BUT…. This attraction has undergone extensive refurbishment recently. Lifts installed, panoramic viewing area, new entrance etc. All very nicely done but my question is: did no-one overseeing the refurbishments/modernisation ever think about installing visitor toilets?? I visited this museum with a group of mostly elderly, disabled people and was told we’d need to go down the street to the public toilets. Not so easy if you’re in a wheelchair, I’m afraid. You don’t deserve a 5-star rating if you can’t provide toilets for your visitors.

The museum is free to enter. You can give a donation to the RNLI. The museum tells the story of Grace Darling and her rescue of 9 people from a shipwreck boat. In the museum you can see the boat that she actually used. The museum tells the story of Grace's life. The story is very detailed. There are a number of information boards and films to explain her stoy.

Very good exhibits telling the story of Grace Darling`s life and what happened on the dreadful night in question. The video of the reconstruction of the storm was interesting but quality of the broadcast was poor. The other film about Grace Darling wasn't so good. Overall though well worth a visit and it is free.

I had checked the castle was open but wanted to go to this museum first. Found a free parking spot nearby and rolled up at the museum... closed on a Saturday?πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ I'm guessing it's for football or other sporting reasons but not encountered that since the early 1960s. So, it's still on my bucket list and (maybe couple up with bus travel from Alnwick and) give a better 🌟 rating.
