I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this museum, situated at the heart of the bustling city. The Dolls Museum, as the name suggests, offered a delightful experience. It showcased dolls adorned in attire from various parts of the country, providing a vivid display of India's diversity in culture, costumes, and customs. The Art Gallery featured contemporary art, while the third museum block hosted a captivating 'light and sound' show, guiding visitors through the rich culture and history of Kerala. The show included several mannequins representing notable dignitaries and depicting the historical and cultural journey of the state. This 30-minute show is a must-see, well-presented with never a dull moment. It offers a comprehensive glimpse into Kerala's essence. The figures presented include Kathakali, Tipu Sultan, Pazhassi Raja, Thunjathu Ezhuthachan, Shankaracharya, St. Thomas, Vasco da Gama, Sree Narayana Guru, EMS Namboothiripad, Kunjali Marakkar, Kunchan Nambiar, Sakthan Thamburan, Raja Ravi Varma, Hermann Gundert, Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma, Velu Thampi Dalava, and more. This segment was the highlight of my museum visit. Additionally, the venue hosts various events regularly, making it an ideal destination for art and craft enthusiasts.

A museum which precisely gives a virtual experience of running through the historical time line of Kerala. Also a great place for arts, and folklore enthusiasts. This will help tourists to Kerala some needful insights on the history of the state, before proceeding with the other monuments in the state.

Our visit to this Museum was an extremely frustrating and unwelcoming experience. We had come with genuine intentions, one of my friends had an assignment related to Kerala history, and we were hoping to capture some photographs to aid in her project. However, our simple request to take photos inside the museum was met with a resounding "no." We even offered to pay extra for the privilege of taking photographs, but our request was again declined. It's worth noting that other museums in the area, such as the Hill Palace Museum and Kerala Folklore Museum, were more accommodating, allowing photography for an additional fee. It was disappointing to see such a rigid policy at the Museum of Kerala History, especially when we were willing to pay for it. To make matters worse, the staff's initial warm welcome quickly transformed into an unwelcoming attitude once they discovered our intention to take photos. We were even told that we could leave through the gate, as if we were somehow unaware of how to exit the premises. One staff member even followed us all the way to the parking lot, which felt like an unnecessary and uncomfortable intrusion of our privacy. It's essential for museums to treat their visitors with respect and understanding, and this experience fell far short of that standard. In contrast, the other museums we visited were much more accommodating and considerate of our needs. I would highly recommend exploring those alternatives if you're looking for a more visitor-friendly experience. Overall, our visit to the Museum of Kerala History left a bitter taste in our mouths, and we won't be returning anytime soon.

I lived close to a decade in Kochi and never visited the place. One fine day, I thought why not give this place a visit. I took the 100rs ticket and went into see what this place has to offer. I do love art and enjoy knowing about our history. I did enjoy the place due to this fact. People who have gone to Kochi biennale and found it interesting, please give this place a visit. If you love art and and enjoy history you can have a good two hours in here. There is pathadipalam metro station 100 meters from the museum. They do accept upi payments and they close at 5pm. You would need an hour or so to enjoy the place. Go in here if you have time at your disposal and want to just laze around.

Felt it's more like an art gallery than a museum. Interesting display for the evolution of Kerala. The sound and light show is interesting and sets the tempo. In would have liked to see more exhibits on Kerala History. Especially artifacts and objects of significance. There is an art gallery too in the same compound. Like the art exhibit. Was well maintained. My child liked the Dolls exhibit. This was good but the exhibit needs to be optimized. There were many spaces to sit, relax and talk - if required. The courtyard is green and beautiful. it's perfect to relax in and contemplate. Availability of toilets make the place child friendly.Entry cost is INR 150 per person. There is parking available right on the road. Recommend a visit.

A nice place near to the Pathadipalam Metro station. It's on the roadside. Has a Parking lot after entering the Museum road. This is a Pvt venture under Madhavan Nair charitable trust. The ticket cost is Rs.150 per person. Seems to be a bit costly. It has three galleries 1- Dolls Gallery- This has dolls which depicts the culture and the dress of many states and also some foreign dolls too 2- Art Gallery- There are 4 art galleries which is distributed among 2 floors. This gallery require some interest in the arts like painting drawing etc. Else it will not be interesting. 3- About Kerala- This is the most interesting stuff of the all three. This is also again distributed in 2 floors. It takes us through the Kerala History. Each sculpture is lighted and a voice over about that is played. This place do consists a small lawn with benches to sit. It do have Toilets

Museum of Kerala History is worth a visit if you are in Kochi ❤️ This place consists of several sections like Art Gallery, Museum Shop, Doll Museum each on the separate block. Also there is a Main Museum of Kerala History and that's stunning 🔥. Art Gallery is where you are not allowed to click pictures, however I got to know this after clicking few of the pictures as there weren't any instructions or sigh board, mentioning that we are not allowed to click pictures 📷❌. Art Gallery consists of mesmerising painting and art of famous artists like Sudip Roy, Sudhir Khastagir, Jamini Roy, Akbar Padamsee, MF Husain and many others. Doll Museum - has more than 150 dolls, all dolled up in ethnic attire showcasing cultural diversity of the motherland 🎎 🇮🇳 Main Museum - an entire block is dedicated to the main museum, which is actually a kind of a show including lights and sound co-ordinating to the statue. This show is manually operated where statue is introduced by switching on the light and background sound giving introduction also mentioning importance/contribution to the Kerala history. Light and sound is turned off by the operator post description which is actually an indication to move onto the next one.

A good place to visit when you are in Ernakulam. The museum is located at Koonamthai and the nearest landmark is Lulu mall, Edappally. Enough space is available for parking inside the premises (may park outside as well if space is available). The museum displays many paintings from across the country made in different mediums. There are four galleries dedicated to various paintings belonging to many well known Indian artists. Also there is a doll museum where you can find dolls in various Indian traditional attires... There is a light and sound gallery in the last where the history of Kerala is described in brief. The ticket charges are Rs 100 for adults and 50 for children. Photography is not permitted.

The place is a quiet place in the midst of the city. The nearest metro station is pathadipalam. As the name states it is a museum of Kerala history with Parasuraman himself standing majestically in the front ready to throw the mazhu. The entry fee is only 100 for adult and 50 for child. The place has a bit of extension to the back. They have a brilliant display of dolls showcasing the different states and art forms of India in one building. There's an art museum which show cases the works of many great artists such as Raja Ravi varma, MF Hussain etc. it's a must visit. They have a small cozy reading room with a small collection of books and couches to sit and read. It's a good half day outing for children. Must visit.

Nice museum. The light and sound show about kerala history was fantastic and must visit spot. Unfortunately, there was a so-called research scholar who was arrogant 😕 and was not willing to remove his dirty shoes. Anyone from the museum authority, it is wise to take action on a person who isn't abiding by the rules and regulations. 🤗 It's a shame that this research scholar was unable to understand the importance of taking off the footwear in a well maintained museum.

An amazing private art collection kept safely for the public to appreciate. Original Raja Ravi Varma, M F Hussain, Jamini Roy and oh so many famous artists’ work makes one’s heart skip a beat. The entry fee is extremely nominal for what one experiences inside - 100 per adult and 50 per child. There’s an audio visual experience at the last gallery and one has the option to choose Malayalam or English - provided other visitors are in sync. If there’s a demand for both English seems to be the choice. The first building where one buys tickets starts with a collection of dolls from different states or tribes of India in their traditional attire. The second wing is where there are 4 galleries - 2 on each floor - with the world class art collection I mentioned earlier. The last wing is where one is taken through an audio visual representation of Kerala history right from the 1st century. Those who have studied Kerala as part of their school history text books will understand and relate to the script better - of course it isn’t possible to convey 20 centuries of Kerala’s history in 30 minutes. The concise conveying still merits applause. Grateful to the trust that runs this institute and shares the joy of refined art with the public.

One contains some artworks of major personalities and also some letters of the founder. Overall that was a good experience. The service of the staff was excellent and they were so nice. Its a must visit place for teachers and students as a part of their studies. Others can enjoy a quiteness if they are not interested in those arts. Its a worth 100 rupee note

The name is completely inappropriate/irrelevant to the exhibits. This museum has nothing to do with Kerala history. It has a handful of Raja Ravi Varma works, but the bulk of it is just works by painters from northern States, all from around early 1900s A third of it is just about the wealthy industrialist, whose’s private collection formed the exhibit. I repeat there is almost no Kerala history in here at all.

This musuem houses three different sections. One is dedicated to the history of Kerala. It shows it through 19 figures using videos and figures. Not particularly interesting. The second one within the same compound is quite interesting as it shows the varius traditional costumes in all the Indian states. The third one is an art gallery of Indian artists. It has two floors with 2 galleries in each floor.  Shoes have to be taken off before entering the musuems. No photos are allowed in any of the musuems. Entery fees is Rs 150. Quite interesting and worth a visit for the art gallery and traditional costumes sections.

(Translated by Google) Rather than a museum It's close to a museum. Dolls wearing Indian national costumes It is on display, but the main one is in the next building Comfortable in the hall where AC worked with many paintings You can enjoy the paintings. The entrance fee is 150Rs… Probably a foreigner fee (Original)

(Translated by Google) I enjoyed it slowly without any people. Is the building a doll? And paintings were divided. At first I thought it was Shobo, but I enjoyed it unexpectedly. Is the building on the foreground a wax doll that is divided into two floors and the history of India in order? And it will flow in order with sound and music. The light is turned on when the sound is relevant, but the light and the sound have shifted from the middle of the sound. it was fun. It was interesting to see the similarities and differences between the different buildings in India, which were displayed by men and women dolls such as dresses and casual clothes for each region in India.

An innovative museum about Kerala history with sound and light interface. Also have a good collection of paintings and dedicated doll exhibition hall. Great way to spend an evening in Kochi at the prime location

Very informative and refreshing. Also there's a good art gallery with an eclectic collection of modern paintings. A doll house and open area for programs. The museum is a window to the history of Kerala highlighting important events. A must visit place with kids and young adults. The museum and the compound is a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city even when it's on the busy highway. You can spend some quiet time there

Good space in kochi with a vision to acknowledge the art world, and Kerala history. From security to the persons in charge of each department were very much conscious on hosting the visitors. There is a service charge of 100₹ / head.

Unless everything that is old is considered history, and related to Kerala, it was only the half an hour light and sound show that had any connection to Kerala History. It is a well maintained space. And I felt it (art museum) would interest an art enthusiast, rather than someone interested in history.

Very calm place. Consists of original paintings from different famous artists, one painting of Raja ravi varma is also there. Entry fee is normal. Audio-visual sculptural representation of Kerala's history is really amazing.

Pretty good experience. All the staffs were polite and friendly. They have sound and light show which was excellent it's about Kerala history and also they hav displayed few of Raja Ravi Varma's original paintings with other really good artist's work. Would definitely recommend to visit once. Also it's walkable distance from Pathadipalam metro station.

The website says museum closes at 5pm. I arrived at 4pm which was in parts due to the beautiful on road traffic. I was told by the security guard at the gate that entry is closed by 3.30pm. Kindly mention this on your site so that visitors don't end up disappointed like me. Kerala history deserves a little more attention to detail.
