Har Har Mahadev. Om Namah Shivay, One of the famous Shiva Temple in Kerala situated on the banks of Periyar River. According to folklore it is said that Bhagwan Parashurama has installed the idol. Spending time here is very peaceful and revitalising. My visits to Aluva Shiva Temple is mostly early morning and it has always been so refreshing and energising. #bhanufoosewala

Aluva Mahadeva Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, and situated on the bank of the Periyar River at Aluva manappuram in suburban Kochi. The presiding deity Lord Shiva, located in the main Sanctorum, facing east. According to folklore, sage Parashurama has installed the idol. It is the part of the 108 Shiva Temples of Kerala. The temple is located around 4-5 km away from Aluva metro station. We can either reach the temple by crossing the river using the bridge constructed recently(but parking will be a problem here, it is advisable to use this route when you are coming by public transport) or through the Aluva-Thottakkattukara route.

The Aluva Mahadeva Temple is also known as 'เดถเดฟเดตเดฐเดพเดคเตเดฐเดฟ เดฎเดฃเดชเตเดชเตเดฑเด‚'. The temple is famous for a month long festival. At the festival time it's very congested by vehicles. Also very crowded by merchants, circuses, bike stunts etc... Merchants sell stationary, ornaments, plants, seeds, snaks, toys, street foods, vessels. There is also shops like ten rupee, twenty rupee, fifty rupee, hundred rupee shops these shops sell only ten rupee items or only fifty rupee item. But this festival is only available at specific timeline mostly it's on January or February or March. This is a must visit place.

Calm and serene place , located right in the middle of bustling town of Aluva. Visited by all people, irrespective of community to feel the positive vibes you experience here. There is a small area earmarked for taking bath close to the temple.

Har Har Mahadev ๐Ÿ™ What a perfect spot for the Lord himself to have his home Right on the river banks with some real greenery surrounding the banks. The temple is open 24/7 for darshan but pooja timings depend upon the availability of poojari's. The place is calm and has enough area to spend quality time with oneself or family. You can also take a bath in the river (periyar) which flows right adjacent to the temple.

One of the famous Shiva Temple in Kerala, famous for Aluva Shivarathri, situated at the banks of Periyar. It is the only temple known to me which is not having a permanent structure. It building of the temple can be dismantled at floodings and rebuilt after the floods. The deity is facing east.

One of the peaceful and divine place, which was located on periyar river bank. Main god is Lord Shiva, called here as "Maha Deva". This place is filled with full of divine energy. Many pooja rituals which are done by a bhramanas at this temple riverbank side. All kaala poojas are offered to mahadeva god properly. Pradosha pooja and maha sivarathri poojas are special. Om Nama Shivaaya ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

Welcome to the serene Shiva temple, a sacred space where visitors come to pay their respects to their departed loved ones. Nestled by a picturesque lake, the temple offers a tranquil setting that complements the spiritual experience. The captivating view of the lake enhances the ambiance, providing a serene backdrop for contemplation and reflection. While visiting this revered site, it's crucial to uphold the sanctity of the surroundings by refraining from littering. Unfortunately, the area sometimes falls victim to the accumulation of waste due to visitors discarding items they purchased from nearby shops. Let us make a conscious effort to preserve the purity of this holy place by properly disposing of our waste and respecting the environment. In addition to its spiritual significance, this location is also known for seasonal swimming coaching. While specific details about these coaching sessions are not readily available, they provide an opportunity for individuals to enhance their swimming skills in the serene waters of the temple's lake. For those interested, it may be worth inquiring locally for more information on the coaching programs. Furthermore, this remarkable destination offers an idyllic setting to witness breathtaking sunsets. As the sun descends, casting a warm glow over the surroundings, visitors can immerse themselves in the tranquility of the moment and appreciate the natural beauty that envelops the temple and the lake. It's important to note that this place tends to get crowded on special occasions. These events draw a larger influx of devotees and visitors who gather to celebrate and partake in religious festivities. While these occasions may offer a vibrant atmosphere, it's advisable to plan accordingly and be prepared for the increased crowds. In summary, this Shiva temple not only holds spiritual significance but also boasts a stunning lakeside view. Let us cherish this sacred place by keeping it clean and free from litter. While enjoying the serene beauty, we can relish the opportunity to witness captivating sunsets and be mindful of the potential crowds during special occasions.

I have started my new year beginning with this temple i.e. I visited this on 1st January, 2024. I reached here at 3:30 but darshan was closed as on Google timings were not mentioned so we sat near this as there is a lake beside this and enjoyed the view and peace then temple darshan started at sharp 5:00 PM in the Evening which was the opening time. After this we went to the airport. This is very near to the Airport approx 15 minutes drive. No tickets for entering.

Great Shiv temple on the river bed. I feel blessed to visit it. Unlike most temples in Ernakulam this temple has sufficient car parking. In the monsoon season, however there is some water in and around the temple.

Aluva Mahadeva Temple, known for Bali Karma. The temple is located in Aluva, one kilometre away from the main road. Karkkidaka Vaavu day rituals done here are very important !! Vehicles will not be permitted from main road to the temple on Karkkidaka vaavu day to control the traffic. Lot of people come from all over Kerala to perform the rituals. This is a swayamboo idol of Shiva.

Serene place, a place of worship for Hinduism. Aluva Siva (Mahadevar) Temple is very famous and Shivratri festival is very special here. Temple situated on the bank of Periyar River in Aluva (Alwaye). It is also famous for balitharpana (rituals for departed souls on Karikkidakavavu day)

Aluva Mahadeva Temple is a unique temple where the Shivalinga is not enshrined in the Sreekovil. The Shivalinga is facing towards the east. There are many myths regarding this temple and its origin. Some believe that the Shivalinga was installed by Parasurama and was worshipped by Lord Sree Rama. There are stories associated with Villwamangalam Swamiyar too. The important festivals of Aluva temple are Shivaratri and Uthravilakku. The temple gets submerged when the level of Periyar river rises especially during the monsoons. The shores of the river is an excellent spot for evening walks. Koovala mala is one of the important offerings in this temple. Hundreds of people visit the temple every day on both morning and evening. A new Foot Over bridge is built connecting Aluva Town to this temple. Sitting at the banks of the river by looking at the setting sun and feeling the breeze is an awesome experience. A must visit to all coming to Ernakulam.

The temple and its surrounding ' aluva manappuram ' is famous for its annual ritual of offering sacrifices to the departed personnel of hindu families. It was conducted on 01 th March 2022 of this year after 2019 because of Covid pandemic. About 2 lakh people are coming together for this event. The crowds were felt from 4 pm the previous day and continued till noon the next day. Temple usually sunk during rainy season.

A Hindu temple on the shore of Aluva river. It is in the floodplains and is submerged even with a 1 to 2 metre rise in water level. There is a Kadavu for ancestral rites. I find that it is the non brahmin priests who provide better service for lower cost.
