The hotel is in an excellent location and all the staff were extremely pleasant. The food at breakfast and the range and choice is superb but one does find one's self constantly interrupted by staff who are cleaning plates as you are taking your last mouthful. The indoor pool area is small but adequate. The steam bath and sauna are small but fit for purpose. The gymnasium is reasonably well kitted out. The shiatsu massage in the Wellness Centre is one of the best that I have had. The rooms are fine and the bathroom is of a good size. The views from the hotel to the Tagus are beautiful. The gardens are well-tended. I would return against if on business in Lisbon. Because the property is 5* graded and listed in "The Leading Hotels of the World" one is obliged to pick out the smallest items for consideration. As follows: 1. Ashtrays in the Smoking Room are not regularly attended to 2. Ashtray on the room balcony is not emptied on a daily basis 3. The room safe is too small for a 5* property 4. The complimentary water bottles should be placed in the fridge and not in full sunlight on the room desk 5. The in-room fruit basket contained spoiled fruit on consecutive days and was not removed until it was pointed out 6. The bar service ceases at 1730 on certain days with no alternatives 7. The reception area is freezing cold and if one is working during early morning or late evening the open doors adversely affect the temperature no matter where one sits in 8. Soundproofing in rooms needs significant improvement, standard chat and noise from the neighbouring room was clearly and annoyingly audible at all times 9. The noise from the piano bar is clearly audible in the room even some distance from the piano bar and late into the night 10. There is a consistent noise of rave music on the docks clearly audible in the room 11. There is congestion at the entrance to the property for both cars and arrival in taxis 12. The flagstone steps around the pool area are very poorly designed and dangerous 13. The room service menu is somewhat limited Room tip: Choose a room that is far away from the piano bar and reception as noise travels at this property

Just had a week there. Lovely spacious room overlooking the garden. The staff are delightful, friendly, helpful, the garden staff are polite too. The buffet breakfast is excellent and you can have almost anything you want, they’ll make it if you ask. We were out exploring most days and had dinner in Lisbon which is only a short Uber ride away. This was the easiest way to travel, typically a 4-8 minute wait and nothing more than 10 minutes drive.

For the last few days of our honeymoon we wanted to be pampered in beautiful scenery. We couldn't have been more pleased by our choice, the Olissippo Lapa Palace is old-world finery. Every detail, from the ornately decorated rooms with vaulted tray ceilings, to the lavish views of the pool and gardens from our balcony. Every area has elaborate tile-work, it's so fun to explore and see. The service is just next level. We were personally escorted to our room, and given a tour of the dining areas and spa upon checking in. There is turn-down service, and little treats to make you feel like royalty. 2 heated pools, one indoor and one outdoor gave us the relaxing end to our 2 week Portugal trip we were looking for. We couldn't recommend it more.

The service and food here are absolutely incredible, and the palace is beautiful! We had the privilege to stay in the Oriental Suite which is large and so comfortable, but old buildings have old building problems! Our heater is enough to just keep the worst of the cold off but we still need to wear multiple layers inside, and the pipes are being changed to plastic so there have been a couple minor water issues. This is almost done so hopefully this is no longer a problem in the future! The staff have been super quick to check on the problems, so responsive to help even at night! So if small issues like this are where you pick another place then I understand, but you'll be missing out on all the other amazing things about this place!

Great hotel a bit out of the way, Main complaint was that there was a cruise taking 70+ rooms and they all came down for breakfast at once. So food was short supply, only tables available were outside etc. Bar staff lovely.

Overwhelmingly amazing staff and environment. I was shocked by how much you get for the cost — indoor spa (Turkish baths, massages, pools), luxury room service, professionally kept garden, in-house bar room with live piano music, and everything else you would expect a top-tier hotel to provide. The entire staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, fluent in English, and knowledgeable of the area. If you need help obtaining transport to/from the airport I would highly recommend asking the front desk.

Most of the staff (front staff, dinner restaurant staff, GIM staff) were friendly, but the attitude of the staff not allowing me to take pictures at the breakfast buffet was quite unpleasant. I fully sympathize with the staff's words not to take photos because people can come out and it's my fault. Actually, I was taking selfies at that time, and I wasn't taking pictures of people. However, I couldn't eat properly because of the server's attitude of making me feel embarrassed and offended. She didn't even give us information that we could order an omelet or an egg dish separately. The next day, when asked about the type of tea, she was rude enough to ask back, "What kind of tea would you like?" Portuguese people were generally kind, so I had a pleasant trip, but I was treated unfriendly for the first time when I came here. Let me add one more thing. There were no employees in the gym and sauna after 6:30 p.m. So we should call the front desk if necessary. Please mark the exact time of use at the entrance. The spa is open until 6:30, so I think it would be good to extend the time a little longer so that we can use it after the schedule. Small service and consideration move people's minds. In conclusion, we do not actively recommend this hotel for its cost-effectiveness.

The hotel is a wonderful experience from arrival. Came for business and added a day of exploration. Having been around the world in 5 star hotels, service levels here are 6 stars. My room had amazing views, super bed and wonderful linens. Amazing quiet neighborhood to walk and explore. Not in a core area but nothing here is far away. Grounds are stunning.

Wonderful experience! Our suite was exceptional and so was the service! Definitely 5 Stars! It is not centrally located, although in a beautiful, very quiet area. Unless you really enjoy walking you are better off using public transportation which is close by or Uber, much cheaper than in the States. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic hotel in a quiet neighborhood. The OLPH is a charming hotel with super friendly and attentive staff. The food is great and service is exceptional. The floors on room 704 could be replaced so they're not that squeaky, but other than that all great!

I am completing my stay here currently. The staff are wonderful and friendly. They answered all of our questions and provided insider tips for places to go and see on day trips. Parking is free and the bell device staff happily happily parked our car for us. The hotel is luxurious and clean. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious. If you are able to splurge to stay here would highly recommend. If I were to come back to Lisbon I would not stay anywhere else.

This was absolutely one of our favorite and most memorable places we’ve ever stayed. At this price point, you could choose a luxury modern hotel OR you could try the Olissippo Palace to have an unforgettable, unique experience in Lisbon. For us, we decided to have a unique experience and we are so glad we chose to do so! The service was impeccable and we felt so welcomed and cared for by every single member of the staff. The facilities, and the building itself wowed us in every corner—and everything was extremely unique and rich with culture. The entire palace decor is romantic, artful, and historic without feeling stuffy or outdated. The palace bar restaurant was also really special. Although cocktail prices are quite a bit steeper, you get a great experience with cookies and the lunch we had there the next day was really amazing. The neighborhood is quiet, safe and clean but honestly we loved just enjoying the environment that the palace grounds had to offer. The only tiny update we felt like was needed was around the pool chairs (which are set on the grass where there are a lot of flies) but that is such a small detail and not a tipping point by any means. Everything else, literally everything, blew us out of the water and we’d love to come back!

Our room was spacious and beautiful with a gorgeous view. The staff was exceedingly accommodating and friendly. The location is in the neighborhood of various embassies so very safe but possibly not as centrally located as other hotels. However, we were able to walk to most dinners. Getting to the key sites of the city was only a 4€ Uber away.

We just stopped at the terrace for cocktails and to enjoy the view. The hotel looked beautiful and our service was amazing. Next time we stay in Lisbon, we will be staying at this hotel.

A must when in Lisbon-Portugal! Always superb service. For my birthday, a special treat. For a special occasion last night, an even more fantastic treat! The upgrade to a room with a river view, exceptional! Management and staff worthy of a commendation - a well deserved bonus too. Best, Frank Ferreira

The bar menu is excellent so that I often go there for a late snack or more. Service is what you'd expect from a 5* place or better. I'm sad they just closed for the rest of the year; also missing their spa/gym.

I was fortunate enough to spend four days in this hotel when I was in Lisboa. From the first step you will experience a tremendous amount of class, hospitality and kindness. Yes the rooms are stunning, yes the food is top notch, the garden and welness area are a rare kind of luxury, but much more important is that this hotel, that has so much prestige, has a staff that is truly amazing. From the lovely people behind the reception to the concierge, the people who run the breakfast, the guys who serve drinks and meals in the pool area or in the bar, everybody has great manners. Truly some of the sweetest people I've ever met. Will definitely return.

Everything about this hotel is exceptional! People writing reviews weren't exaggerating when they said everyone at this hotel is super friendly and kind - front desk, restaurant/bar staff, room service, doormen, literally everyone made me feel so welcomed. I really appreciated every detail this hotel staff put in to ensure I had a great stay. I honestly could've just hung at this hotel for my entire trip. This is the only hotel I'll stay at in Lisbon here on out!

An excellent hotel with old world charm. We had a very updated room, which is really the best of all worlds in an older hotel. We had a delightful view onto the garden and enjoyed the birds in the morning from our balcony. The service was exceptional. Try some of the incredible pastries made by the hotel chef.

Service is impeccable. During our stay the hotel had more employees than people staying there. Staff could not have been any nicer. Highly recommend this property without hesitation.

The building is an architectural gem. The hotel staff are offering an old-world nobility kind of experience - uniformed, extremely polite and helpful etc. (Sometimes in a tongue-in-cheek, exaggerated kind of way - but very charming!) There is also a great outdoor area with a pool surrounded by trees and grass. The hotel is located in the old town, in a web of cobblestone streets, and is walking distance from the Tagus river. Definitely recommended!

My wife and I don't normally stay in 5-Star hotels, but we made an exception for a recent stay in Lisbon that we booked through American Express Travel. The hotel and its staff were exceptional in every possible way. We arrived very early in the morning and they offered us coffee in their beautiful dining room and garden while our room was being prepared. Then they gave us a tour of the hotel's facilities before showing us our room which was pristine and offered a great view of the river. We had breakfast at the hotel each and it was absolutely wonderful. The breakfast buffet offered everything that one would want from delightful pastries, a wide choice of charcuterie, a selection of fresh squeezed juices (including champagne!), fresh fruits of all kinds, excellent coffees, and much more. Eggs could be cooked do order. Service in the dining room was impeccable. We eagerly looked forward to it every day. While every staff person was extremely accommodating, we would be remiss if we did not give special plaudits to the concierge staff. They gave excellent recommendations for dinners and tours. And when a train strike made it difficult to obtain tickets for a planned trip to Porto, they secured tickets for us an ensured that we reached the city as planned. Their positive and upbeat attitude greatly added to our enjoyment of the hotel and our stay in Lisbon. Every evening, a piano player entertained guests in a splendid room where drinks and food could be enjoyed as well. We had dinner one night in the hotel and it was worthy of a Michelin star. If you have any doubt about making a reservation at this hotel, put aside those concerns. It is worth every Eurodollar!

Phenomenal hotel in Lisbon. Quiet neighborhood, but walking distance to great restaurants and short Uber ride to anywhere in city. Staff is professional and welcoming and get "unstuffy" when we got to know them. Nicest hotel we have ever stayed at with combination of amazing service, room decor, helpfulness from concierge to front desk to waiters to housekeeping. Very top notch and we have stayed all over the U.S. and world west of the Orient. As is common with hotel restaurants, there's is pricey but have highest quality of food and service. especially liked the bar lounge for lunch, relaxation, and after dinner entertainment and cocktails. Say hi to Oscar, the piano player from his new friend Alan from Chicago. What a Pro and gentleman. Just a very classy place as a base for experiencing the enchanting city of Lisbon.

Just finished our second stay at Lapa Palace and once again it was awesome. The concierge was extremely helpful recommending and making dinner reservations, and we loved the Rio Tejo Bar, what excellent drinks and food! Lapa Palace has all the amenities anyone could ask for, but what really makes this hotel outstanding is the service.

We have just had a wonderful stay at The Lapa. A lovely room with a superb view, surrounded by friendly , wonderful and helpful staff. Very central to all. Good breakfast, lovely pool. Worst part of the stay was a terribly disappointing prego roll. Gymnasium could do with a face-lift,but overall a wonderful stay .

This hotel was exceptional. The grounds including the pools are beautiful and the view of the ocean espectacular from our balcony. It is a classic look hotel and decor with opulence and beauty. The staff was also formal, very friendly and incredibly attentive. I fell walking one afternoon and they brought me a wheelchair and ice immediately so that I could get around. The restaurant was exceptional. It has a French flair the service was excellent and the duck was perfectly cooked and paired. The day bar and lunch restaurant was also great. I had the best chestnut cream with bacon bits plus every time I ordered tea it came with delicious cookie.

Amazing! Can't wait to come back again! Booked this resort for a wonderful price at ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ I enjoyed this hotel and I'm really grateful I stayed here much cheaper than what I normally spend. Nice place although on the outskirts of Lisbon itself. Staff were quite friendly and were able to communicate in English. The rooms are affordable if you are travelling on a low budget and considering that it came with breakfast (very basic though).

We had five nights at this marvellous hotel, on arrival we were greeted by the reception staff who were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Our room was spacious, clean and had a great river view, the bathroom was also extremely tidy and had plenty room with ‘his&hers’ wash basins. The concierge staff were extremely helpful offering advice on tours, restaurants and places to visit. We did not eat in the main restaurant but it looked very nice as did the menu. Instead we chose to eat in the bar area which was well laid out with a nice terrace outside complete with statue and fountains (and pigeons :) The food was outstanding! At no time did either of us have a meal we didn’t enjoy. The bar staff were also extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. Paulo and his colleague (sorry, didn’t catch his name) were particularly helpful even going as far as reserving our usual table on our last evening. Paulo recommended both food and wine and we were never disappointed. I would ask the management to recognise these guys, particularly Paulo, who went above and beyond. This is a fabulous hotel away from the city centre and is quiet, peaceful and a place to relax. I absolutely recommend this hotel and will definitely be back in the future. 10/10 and worth each of its 5 stars.

Stunning refined hotel on a hill top in Lisbon. Artful foyer with liveried staff who cannot do enough for you. The breakfast terrace is beautiful but the interiors are even more opulent redolent of a more refined era.

  • 5/5 M H. 2 years ago on Google
This hotel is dated... the rooms are a bad backdrop to the 80's, so why do I like it? The service is impeccable. The occupancy rate tends to be low, so often you have the place for yourself ... living in a Palace near down town without a crowd ... pretty good in my book. Located in an area with embassy residences, so quiet and with a certain ambience, across the street from the ministry of justice (a small building). Get over the rooms and you have your own palace in a quiet part of town near the city center!

Nice restored old hotel. Thoughtful touches throughout the hotel and rooms. Our room was spacious with a balcony and view of the pool and river. Comfortable bed. Upgraded amenities. European style outlets so remember your adaptors (although I expect the hotel has some available to lend). Very nice breakfast buffet. Staff is excellent and helpful.

Wonderful, charming hotel. And the level of service was incredible. It’s rare to be able to find this blend of professionalism, friendliness and attention to details. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Lisbon.

I felt like royalty during my stay at the Olissippo Lapa Palace . It is a true old world European luxury hotel. The service is impeccable; The hotel is immaculate. The staff were warm and welcoming, and very responsive. The lobby and public rooms actually looked like a palace with frescoes, hand painted tiles, and lush decor. We had a gorgeous room with a balcony overlooking the water. Sweet! I wasn’t expecting the stunning outdoor pool and gorgeous patio. And lo and behold there was even an indoor pool! Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit! The only drawback is that the hotel is not particularly centrally located. There are some very steep cobblestone streets in the surrounding area, but that’s Portugal. The hotel makes it exceptionally easy to get cabs and the cabs are very reasonably priced. In spite of this I would still recommend a stay there. I only wish we could’ve spent more time there. I’ll be back if it kills me.

Upon our arrival, the greeting from the staff set the tone for a grand visit. The room was exceptionally spacious, clean with a bottle of bubbly awaiting us on the terrace overlooking the river. Absolutely amazing. Everyday we started with an exceptional breakfast buffet that included an array of dining choices presented in stylish flair with the option of indoor or outdoor seating. Accompanied by an always attentive staff. Our dinner at the hotel restaurant was impeccable in its taste and presentation. It was the perfect leisurely yet luxurious culmination of the day for us. Overall, this hotel was an exceptional choice.

We stayed here for 5 nights for our 3 year wedding anniversary. We'll come back to Lisbon purely just to stay at this amazing hotel again. The staff made the holiday even more special for us. At the concierge Rui, Hugo and Fillipe were absolutely amazing, so helpful and knowledgeble, they gave us so many good recommendations both for sightseeing and places to eat. They went above and beyond to book us some of the best restaurants in the city. The hotel has a great poolbar with incredible attentive staff especially Erik, Bruno and Fransisco. Carina at reception was super nice and Ines was the fastest room service staff I've ever seen. The hotel bar was really nice especially when the incredible pianist was playing, with a very knowledgable barman, Paulo, who made us some spectacular drinks. Thanks to you all.
