You can snorkel right in front of their restaurant and I saw a beautiful turtle snacking away at the corals. Their snorkel trip is also really nice.

Me and my family had the best time here. The family room was spacious and clean with fast wifi. The restaurant was also really good, we really enjoyed eating there. Although the menu might not seem all that interesting, the food was delicious. Everything from the menu was great. You can snorkel and rent snorkeling gears right infront of the restaurant too.

Great place to come if you would like to go snorkeling. Come on early (8 am) and ask for a boat tour. 500,000 rupiah for 2 people and 4 locations. You’ll see beautiful coral reefs, a plethora of fish and a good chance of seeing sea turtles. They are very honest, trustworthy and friendly. The food is touristy, but affordable if you are really hungry. None of the local dishes taste ‘authentic’. At least in the period we were here it was not overrun by tourists.

We stayed in room 7 (upstairs) and it had an ocean view straight from the bed! Easy beach access, however, the beach has a mix of tiny and medium sized pebbles which hurt my sensitive feet. Especially getting out of water was difficult. The beach was better at the southern end of Ames (sandy beach, more corals to swim around, we saw a turtle there ❤️). You can buy cheap coconuts and meals in the area. Not sure what Amed beach was like prior to the pandemic, but it was very quiet when we went there (June '22)

Amed is definitely a hidden gem, this hotel had amazing food and very affordable/comfortable rooms. We also did the snorkelling (Japanese ship wreck and others) and hired a scooter from here which was superb. Staff were always friendly and very helpful. Would highly recommend for those discovering Amed.

Mare & staff are incredible friendly and helpful! When you stay at Sama Sama you feel like family! The rooms were very clean, with excellent fan/AC options, fast Wi-Fi, and beautiful views. The garden is serene and the free breakfast in the morning was an added bonus! The restaurant offered great views and a casual dining experience.
