Just had freediving Level 1. I wanted to join the class since years ago and didn’t regret to go and choose Fathom at the end. The theory was extra fun since the instructor explained in a fun and interactive way. His approach of learning was also personal and made sense. During the sessions, not only the theory was given, we also had to practice the breathing and rescue technique. There was a step that I didn’t feel sure about, fortunately he didn’t push or even mad about it, which I appreciated it and felt better. During the freediving session, the session was also relaxing and there was no pressure at all. First attempt was not easy and quite intimidating for me… didn’t think will make it, but he said something about mindset, which made me reached 10m 🙋🏻‍♀️ People in the class were also so supportive and positive, which made the class was even better!

I recently completed the Level 1 course at Fathom Diving School, and I cannot recommend it enough! The personalized course was exactly what I was looking for, and my instructor was amazing. They had a strong focus on practical learning, which made the experience so much more enjoyable and valuable. The course was an absolute blast, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have learned from such a skilled and knowledgeable instructor. If you're looking for a fantastic diving school, look no further than Fathom Diving School!

Thank you Sam and Fathom Freedive for a great introduction to the mesmerizing power of the ocean! Great answers to all my many questions and has a true passion for the ocean. I chose Fathom Freedive out of all the other options in Amed because it was recommended by several friends, and because it felt more personal than the other options with Sam as the “face” of the company. He’s very knowledgeable and clearly loves both freediving and teaching! I was so happy when I managed to go to 20 metres (maximum allowed depth for beginners) already on my second day, after a lot of encouragement. When scuba diving, I felt more like a scared little duckling following the papa duck around, didn’t take my eyes of the scuba instructor one second during my Open water. I didn’t feel very empowered doing scuba, felt strange to be breathing underwater and I felt very dependent on the equipment and the instructor. With freediving, I felt so free! I knew Sam was there if I would really need him, but it was very clearly me doing the dives, it was my own body and ability that I depended on, and he was just there in the background as a backup. That way, it felt like a deep and intimate and incredibly beautiful meeting between me and the Ocean, which was sooo different from doing scuba diving. I can never go back now, totally enchanted by the deep sea and by freediving. Highly recommended!

I was emailing with Sam on thursday morning to book level 1 freediving course for the weekend. He missed our last email/booking confirmation, so we did not know what is going on. Then friday 19:00 he wrote us, we have to pay the next 3 hours, otherwise we won't be allowed to do the course. Hm... ok... So we went to the freedive center and brought them the deposit, which destroyed our evening a little bit. At the freedive center we saw lots of spiders inside, it was smelling moldy and a big cockroach was running around in the kitchen. It was disgusting, thinking about getting food there the next day, and that we have to do the lessons in there. But we really wanted to do a freediving course, and we did not have much time left here in Amed, so we tried to ignore all that. Saturday morning we got up very early, fast breakfast, packing all we need and went to the Fathom Freedive center. We arrived at 9, then Nistia from the freedive center told us, that the instructor is not here, he is in Denpasar doing something else. If we want, we can come again in the afternoon and start the course then. In my opinion she was not even really friendy... Then we cancelled it. What a waste of time! My Suggestion: Before you go to the Fathom Freedive Center you should get a deposit from them to be sure the course really starts, not the other way around. I thought Sam would maybe contact us and say sorry - but nothing happened. Rather go to the other Freedive Centers in Amed...

I took the Level I freediving course here. I had a great instructor. He made me feel very comfortable throughout the course. My breath holding time increased to 3 minutes in only one day. Then I was going deeper than I ever imagined, down to 20 meters by the second day. I even learned how to blow bubble rings. I would recommend an excursion to the Liberty wreck if possible (not part of the course). Amed is a beautiful little town with gorgeous nearby volcanoes. I had a great experience overall and would highly recommend Fathom Freediving.

Just completed my level 1 freediving course with Fathom freedive and it went really well. The instructor is passionate, and has a lot of knowledge about freediving. He is also very calm and composed in the water, and gave me solid advice to improve my dives. Would definitely recommend, and come back again when I'm back in Amed!

What an incredible course! We built such a great community in just two days together. I have been practicing without training and this course allowed me to double my breath hold as well as teach practical manoeuvres for efficient oxygen usage. Thank you for all the additional advice, and for going above and beyond.

My husband and I both just got our level 1 certification through them and had a great time. It’s a very laid back course, and the instructors are very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. I felt very safe, and made a massive improvement from the floor breathe work to diving on day 2. It’s amazing what your body is able to do and how much of it is mental. We spent 2 days - half in the classroom, half out in the ocean. There is no pool session, and honestly we liked going straight into the ocean to practice. The class was decided into 2 groups, 3-4 people per instructor, so there was plenty of individual attention. Overall, the class was a really good balance of classroom learning and then practicing the skills. We even made friends with our group and went out for food and drinks after each night.

I did the spearfishing course with my son (14 yo). Sam has been outstanding in delivering a crear fun and very detailed learning experience. We particularly enjoyed the dives together and the shooting training. I recommend this course to whoever want to experience spearfishing in a fun and safe way. Thank you Sam

My friend and I had done some scuba diving and were looking to learn more about free diving while on a vacation to Bali. Sam started the first day of the level 1 course with theory and breathing exercises designed to overcome our own mental blocks to holding our breath underwater. By the end of the first day we were out at Jemeluk Beach testing what we had learned and going deeper than we ever thought we could. Sam is serious about safety, a knowledgeable freediver, and on top of all that an entertaining instructor -- a perfect combination for overcoming one’s fears to enjoy this understated and beautiful sport.

Attending the two-day Level 1 course at Fathom Freedive Club was an incredible journey. The instructors’ passion for freediving was contagious, making the learning experience both educational and enjoyable. The personalized guidance and hands-on training instilled confidence, and the emphasis on safety reassured me throughout. The camaraderie among participants added a fantastic social element.

Recently completed my Level 1 freediving certification at this center and I'm genuinely impressed. The trainers are not only passionate but also brimming with knowledge. They took the time to share their insights, making sure we were comfortable, informed, and safe every step of the way. The gear provided was top-notch, which only enhanced the whole experience. Located in such a stunning area, the beauty of our surroundings definitely added an extra layer of enjoyment to the sessions. What struck me the most were the skills I acquired in such a short period. The experience has left me feeling confident and eager to continue my freediving journey. I started out curious and emerged hungry for deeper dives and more knowledge. Would I recommend this center? Without a doubt. Whether you're just starting out or looking to further your diving skills, this place is a gem.

I completed my free diving level 1 course at Fathom Freedive and had no idea about the things my body could achieve. Fathom gives you great insight into the sport/leisure of free diving. From the start my instructor explained everything to the T and gave great encouragement and support to each person attending. We all felt an achievement at the end. Thank you Fathom!

I recently completed the level 1 Freediving course, and I couldn't be more thrilled with my experience. Our instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about the sport, and they went above and beyond to ensure that we felt comfortable throughout the entire course. The course itself offered a great balance of theory and practical training, which allowed me to develop my skills and confidence at my own pace. Overall, I would highly recommend Fathom Freediving course to anyone looking to explore the underwater world and experience the thrill of diving !

Awesome freediving and spearfishing experience with Fathom! Sam has been super patient since day 0 answering every single question I had before locking in the trips. Alex was the instructor we had for freediving, very friendly and knowledgeable. We had great time during the two days of level 1 course. Reeve was the guide who took me out for a spearfishing trip. Awesome cool guy knowing the local environment well and willing to negotiate with the boat captain to give me the best spearfishing experience possible.

My partner and I did our level 1 freediving this February and it was such an incredible time! To learn about what our body is capable of in the classroom and to put it into practice in the ocean! The water sessions are as long as the students need it. So you really have time to get comfortable in water, learn from the Littles mistakes you're making and get more confidence. In the end I reached my personal goal to get to 20 meters yay! But mostly Thanks to our amazing instructor and the other 2 students evolved for all the laughs and the team spirit once in the ocean. It truly made it a unique experience!

Such a great experience! I finally got the mermaid underwater photo shoot of my dreams! Nistia was a total pro and super sweet and patient. She had lots of great direction for poses and knew the best locations to do the photos. I got way more great shots than I expected to! Can’t wait to go back and do another shoot!

I did my level 1 and 2 freediving with Fathom. I had such a good time and both my instructors were really good, I couldn't rate Fathom enough. I went from struggling to get to 10m to by the end doing a comfortable and relaxed 25m dive. Not to mention their teachings and coaching took my static breath hold from 1 minute before the courses to over 3 minutes. I would highly recommend Fathom to anyone looking to start or already freediving.

Had an awesome dive with Fathom. Was very keen on diving USAT Liberty but couldn't get a fun dive anywhere in Amed. Fathom linked me up and we had a super chilled, really fun time diving on the wreck.

Did my first Freedive course with these guys. It was really awesome! The instructor really took the time to explain everything very well and was there during every step of the process to help me improve. Felt super safe the entire time. Really want to keep freediving after this.

A great freediving school! The instructor is amazing! It was really fun yet easy to understand. He could even teach a dolphin to walk if he wanted too! I was scared of the deep sea, but after the course it has become my best friend. Now, I can't wait to explore the sea! Thank you Fathom!

To sum up, Sam is a great teacher. He taught me a lot about breathing and equalization technique (and even meditation). He is not only just explaining the theories, but he is also make sure that his students understand what happens to our body when we equalize so we know how to do it during our freediving. Nice to meet you Sam!

I just completed PADI Level 1 with Fathom FreeDiving in Amed and it was amazing. The instructors are great communicators and they shared their knowledge and love for Freediving. It was hell fun, instructive, relax and really comprehensive for me, not an english speaker. Either if you are into a aquatic sports or want to synchronise with your inner-self I highly recommend Freediving, you would not regret it. Some say Little Mermaid and Aquaman trained at Fathom Freedive Bali. Let yourself Freefall.

I did a 2-day beginners course where I learned so much about freediving. The instructors were friendly, passionate and made me feel 100% safe all the time. It’s amazing how with their help you can improve your results within 2 days. The course was well organized, the group was split into small groups of only 3 per instructor (for open water sessions), which gave everyone a lot of one on one with the instructor. The atmosphere was fantastic, very non competitive. We celebrated every dive, high fived, but also every dive was evaluated with the instructor, so you immediately get feedback on what could be improved. I really enjoyed my time here, it was a great experience and a solid dose of knowledge about our body and mind and how they behave underwater and how to control them.
