Great place for snorkelling. Very calm, no waves. Can snorkel from the beach. The beach isn’t the most beautiful. But underwater life was great, we saw coral and lots of different fish species. 1. Keep to the right of the bay for the best snorkelling. 2. Visit the black buoy (centre right of the beach) to see the underwater temple. You can see it snorkelling at the surface, or dive down and explore. 3. If you haven’t got a snorkel you can hire from the beach vendors. We hired a mask and goggles for 25K. Presume the price increases with fins? 4. Our beach vendor had free wifi and loungers for customers. Great for the price of a couple of drinks.

This beach has a big problem. Too many locals -and perhaps tourist too- who don't respect the place; it is clear from the fact that it is thus full of trash. They only want to sell you boat trips to snorkel which you can actually go and do by yourself swimming. The beach itself is black and volcanic. Not nice in itself although different. But when you dive in the sea and see the underwater life, you will find a place vivid and full of life, particularly blue starfish. It is worth seeing it -also the underwater temple. But the corals are clearly dying and when you look at the surface from underwater you can tell it is a very surface polluted water. I can not emphasize this enough. The underwater life is wonderful, but the place is dirty and it's people too materialistic. For a wonderful experience do not hesitate to visit Virgin Beach in its instead.

Great beach for relaxed snorkeling right off the beach! Not crowded, on weekdays its very quiet. Coral garden seems in recovery but there are plenty of colourful fish. Saw some juvenile cudas too. Go to the right side in front of Blue Star cafe for best spot. Clear water, Waves are calm so it's easy for beginners and children. Sand is coarse and black. Plenty of beachside cafes renting snorkeling gears, sun beds free if you eat there, or you can stay in beachfront bungalows. Best time to snorkel on morning high tide when the fish are most active, but you can easily loose time here and snorkel all day long 😊

This is a really good beach for snorkeling and scuba. The beach is overall very clean and the water is clear. Equipment is easy to rent from hotels or dive shops for snorkeling and scuba’s

I'm not a strong swimmer & was nervous about snorkelling, but this shallow reef in a protected bay made me feel safe. There was enough underwater activity to keep occupied for a couple of hours. Most warungs on the beach provide a lounge, as long as you purchase some food/drink & your belongings are very safe. Snorkelling gear is widely available for a day hire fee.

Very good snorkeling place, but the beach itself is very dirty. Also there are a lot of annoying people, who try to sell you something. If you travel to Gili Islands, you can take FreeBird express ferry from this beach.

(Translated by Google) Great place for snorkeling and diving. Coral begins a meter from the coast. The buoy indicates the place where the flooded pyramid overgrown with corals. In the middle of the beach there is an entrance for boats without corals, right (south) convenient snorkeling with many fish in corals, left coral with other fish species, on the cape closer and deeper in the morning you can see sea turtles, reef sharks are also found, although rarely, (not dangerous ) If you take lunch or dinner in a cafe, sun loungers are free. In the southern part of the bay there are more trees and shade. There are many dive centers and equipment rental in the bay. I recommend it to all both beginners and experienced lovers of snorkeling and diving.

Relaxing cove close to the 2 ship wrecks in the area. Definitely not a "Kuta" experience and if you're wanting a family friendly slower beach this is the perfect place. The water is very clear and makes for a much nicer swim than most of the more southern beaches. The vendors are easy going and the chairs are cheap to rent. There is a wide range of food available, both local and western. The sand is not the best but the corals are not far from shore and make for some good snorkeling. If diving is more your thrill there are plenty of boats for hire to head to the liberty wreck and scuba. I'd advise going super early as it is the main highlight in the area and gets busy quickly. Just south of this cove is the Japanese shipwreck that's accessable by boats rented from here as well as a short drive and some luck finding it. The Japanese shipwreck is in shallow enough water that you would be happy with just a snorkel. There are a few places in the area to get a room and I'd recommend a night or two in the area if you're here as the drive back to the more touristy areas can be quite long.

The snorkling site here is beautiful, you will need to walk through sand beach first to enter the snorkelling site, ask the local where the sea current are if you bring your own mask, the best time to snorkle is 9 - 11am because the visibility of the water. On the corral here i have seen almost 20 kind of different 🐠 fish and bit sad because long time ago they use bad fishing method to catch the fish, but now the coral already grown back and tje fish starting to show up. Hope I can bring Five Pillar Experiences here 😊🙏

The snorkeling and mountain views are all this place has going for it. This isn't enough to keep you entertained for very long. I was done snorkeling after one day as the water is filled with garbage. The beach is unwalkable with many boats and sharp rocks. The locals won't let you use the beach without paying. The area doesn't have the infrastructure for the number of tourists and locals present. The sewage and garbage is overwhelming. Bali is overrated presently. I am sure in the past it was beautiful, but now it is a trash heap.

We stayed in a hotel on the beach for 4 days. When we arrived there were no waves, the water was clean and clear. The underwater world is magnificent, very beautiful corals, a wide variety of fish. Plus the bay is amazing, the views of the mountains from the ocean are amazing. In the evening of 3 days, waves rose, we think it was because of the moon. The water became cloudy. On day 4 there were entire islands of garbage in the water. Islands made of plastic and branches. Be careful while swimming near the rock, my mother could not cope with the current and climbed out onto the rocks, severely tore her arms and leg. This is not a minus of the beach, it's just information. The beach is very different, if you come to clean clear water without waves, then you are lucky. There are dogs walking on the beach and pooping in the sand, be careful if you have small children.

Great snorkeling! Very clear water and rich marine life. The right side of the bay is good - swim near the edge of the reef. It can match the Ningaloo (Australia, WA) in species but not abundance. Not much trash in water - only a few single pieces.

Nice snorkeling spot but the corals dont look very healthy... a lot of people to come here so it is not surprising. Still we had a good time for the first time in Amed. We saw better corals a bit farer, at more secluded beaches

(Translated by Google) The lagoon is good, we rented a house 3 minutes on a bike from here, but there was virtually no entrance to the sea, while trying to go in we all scratched rocks and corals ... and there were fewer fish there than on Dzhemelyuk ... everything was very calm right there ( even when the waves in the neighboring lagoons are quiet), the entrance to the sea is easy, the fish start right there .. still knee-deep in the water and they are already here .. the beach itself is black and therefore at the height of the day you don’t get up with bare feet, it’s very hot , and a lot of coral debris ... In general, swimming with a mask is easy and affordable, but the lagoon itself is not sick, so you can quickly learn everything .. they write that if you are lucky you can see the turtle, we are not lucky .. I think they need to be searched a little longer from the shore ... here sometimes there are too many snorkellers ... but unlike the neighboring lagoons there is a cafe with sun loungers and umbrellas, besides under the crowns of trees it is very comfortable to relax from the active sun .. no one is on the beach, and it’s impossible to be hot and very uncomfortable with stones and corals .. and in a cafe if you order something, sun loungers will be free ...

The sand on this beach is black (small rocks/coral) the underwater view is very beautiful and hard to find on other beaches, if you go to Amed you must snorkel. I also saw here (under sea water) that there was something like a coral reef nursery (cultivated coral reefs). If you bring fish food here, you can use a bottle filled with bread and cut a hole in the lid, remember to bring the rubbish back to land so it doesn't disturb underwater life. , there are lots of fish that I rarely see and many people do snorkeling activities on this beach

Places to snorkel to the left and right hand sides of the beach but be VERY CAREFUL of the strong currents if you swim out too far. Seems easy to get there but be prepared for a long, hard swim back against the current. NOT A PLACE FOR INEXPERIENCED OR WEAK SWIMMERS. If you stay in the middle of the beach there is plenty to see including a "sunken temple" (actually an old post box, pictures to see online) and a lot of corals and fish too. Restaurants and bars in abundance on the beach. Varying price ranges.

Most beautiful snorkeling location. Great underwater experience, coral reef, temple and many fish. All easily accessible, with many beach side restaurants that have beach umbrellas and WIFI besides to spend the day. 5/5 is experience!

Very nice snorkeling spot. You can enter directly from the beach and see a lot of different corals, sponges, fish and of course the underwater temple (which is basicsaly more like a mailbox). Unfortunately there is a lot of plastic on the beach is and noone seems to care about. So please also collect some rather than stepping just over it. Also it would make sense if the rentals for the diving/snorkeling gear tell their customers NOT to touch the corals or anything underwater!

Weirdly I thought this was my best snorkeling experience so far in Amed. The beach is rocky and full of boats but you walk in 2 steps and BOOM so much colorful sea life and corals. Some statue down the water too. No trash like in the more open waters were the shipwrecks are (or I was just lucky that time).

Quiet nice coral garden very close to the beach. Swim about 5-10 metres and you will be looking at a busy underwater traffic. Though the corals don't look healthy, it's still quite nice to see colorful fishes. I felt uncomfortable with some local aggressive vendors selling merch or renting a boat. One guy even "ordered" us (two girls) to follow him in a very rough way. Understand that some people need to make a living, but it makes the experience less enjoyable. Will I come again? Now that I know where to park the bike and snorkel, yes.

The best snorkeling in Amed is accessible from the beach. Turtles, fish in every color and size you can imagine. Colorful corals. There is no strong current. Towards the cliff there is a nice spot with corals. When you get tired, swim towards Amed beach. You can meet turtles there. There are rarely waves. But if this coincides, then the water will be cloudy and hard to see. I recommend staying at least a couple of nights right on the shore in a bungalow. It has its own atmosphere. Walking 10 steps to the sea is priceless. Debris is sometimes brought in by currents, but it’s like with waves. In Amed this happens less often than in Nusa Dua, for example.

Truly a terrific shore-diving spot and far more relaxed atmosphere than anywhere in or near the southern hotspots of the island. Came here on a whim, with a slight possibility of diving. Good thing I found an incredible place (Eco Dive on Amed Beach) and befriended the locals, because besides diving, there's not much to do here besides affordably chill on the beach. Locals and returning visitors do say it's been going up about 10% every year. Gojek does NOT operate in any capacity here, so you must have a scooter or get ready to pay ridiculous prices to locals for lifts. Beware especially of the ATM's.. there is no bank in Amed (Amlapura is the nearest, 30m drive) so all the ATM's are free-standing. Ran into a lot of people stressed because their card was skimmed and account frozen back home or the machine just "ate" it and promptly died. So bring cash or make sure to check your account often if you must use the ATM's. Authorities obviously don't care, because the locals say it's been a thing here for years. Way to go, regional government.

Great snorkeling here. You can see many varieties of fish and see a small underwater template. I felt the Japanese ship wreck was more impressive but this is still nice if you're in this bay. We sat at a warung on the beach. The chairs are free if you're eating and drinking. You can leave your gear in their locker, but they keep the key lol. Would be best to have crocs or booties as lots of coral and hard on the feet walking in and out.
