**Review
of
Villa
Makara
at
Aquamarine
Beach
Villas:**
I
recently
had
the
experience
of
staying
at
Villa
Makara,
and
regrettably,
it
left
much
to
be
desired.
The
villa
feels
quite
aged,
with
persistent
issues
such
as
no
hot
water
in
the
shower,
necessitating
frequent
calls
to
maintenance.
The
bed
quality
is
remarkably
poor;
so
noisy
in
fact
that
even
slight
movements
could
disturb
a
sleeping
partner.
It's
disappointing
that
only
a
single
bed
sheet
was
provided,
along
with
an
outdated,
itchy
duvet,
hardly
what
you'd
expect
for
€200
a
night.
While
the
swimming
pool
looks
inviting,
its
position
in
constant
shadow
means
it's
uncomfortably
cold.
The
hammock
is
impractically
low,
touching
the
ground
when
occupied.
The
beach
access
from
the
villa
is
not
only
perilous
but
infested
with
stinging
ants.
The
overall
breakfast
quality
is
mediocre
at
best,
but
what
truly
soured
our
experience
was
the
discourteous
staff.
Most
seemed
aloof
and
at
times
even
rude.
The
sole
exceptions
were
a
young
man
from
the
lobby
and
a
massage
therapist,
both
of
whom
were
gracious
and
professional.
The
beach
bar's
service
was
shockingly
slow;
after
waiting
for
35
minutes,
we
were
abruptly
informed
they
were
closing
and
couldn't
serve
us.
While
the
sea
view
is
picturesque,
the
rocky
beach
hampers
swimming.
The
villa's
remote
location
also
means
limited
nearby
activities.
The
Italian
restaurant
onsite
is
passable;
the
cheese
gnocchi
is
worth
trying,
though
the
pizzas
are
just
average.
Service
there,
however,
is
languid.
Our
checkout
was
equally
frustrating;
a
20-minute
wait
only
to
be
met
with
an
unapologetic
manager
who
sprung
a
2%
credit
card
fee
on
our
bill
without
prior
mention.
In
sum,
Villa
Makara
doesn’t
live
up
to
its
price
point
or
potential.
While
there
were
a
few
bright
spots
in
our
stay,
the
negatives
heavily
outweighed
the
positives.
