This is maybe the only place in the whole area where you are not bothered by scammers who want to sell you tours or just scam tickets. There is a small cafe with a very nice owner called Mr black. He speaks really good English, is really kind and can give you good recommendations about hiking on the volcano without getting threated by the scammers.

Really great to be near the volcano and see the impacts of past eruptions.

Bukit payung has the best view in between 2 mountains, Batur and Abang. But they need to plant more trees so the place is not that hot

Grandfather may meet you at the entrance. Mr. Black. Will start selling 500k bracelets. Not allowed into the park. He says this is his house. Don't talk to Mr. Shine, move on! This is not his house, admission is free.

Great places

Get closer to see mount batur and black lava field. This place is also a good place to do a camp activity and may be just enjoying sunrise.
