Bali's oldest and most famous temple is home to the famous Gate of Heaven. Said to be the oldest Hindu temple on the island, Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang Beautiful scenery is not afraid to climb a lot of stairs and slopes. Guests can take pictures at the gate with the help of a local photographer, for a cool and very eye catching photo. Although it looks a bit delusional Given the panoramic beauty it has, it is only natural that the gate is nicknamed the Gate of Heaven. Pura Lempuyang is a sacred place for Hindus, so there are some rules or regulations when in the temple. The regulations include: * It is forbidden to wear revealing clothes *Each visitor must use the cloth given at the time of ticket purchase. * It is forbidden to kiss or do other indecent things. * Prohibit the use of images by drones. * For women who are pregnant or menstruating, it is forbidden to enter the temple area. Some of these terms are evident when they are in the Pura Lempuyang area. There is no entrance fee to Pura Lempuyang, as the temple only asks for donations. The recommended level should be 10,000 , 30,000 IDR per person, which is the usual amount to pay when entering temples in Bali.

Love this place! Entrance fees are quite much: 50k for the transport (compulsory to ride by their bus from the parking space) & another 50k for the actual entrance fee. It includes the cloth rental as it is necessary to cover your half lower body with it. Another 5k for fast and less tiring "ojek" which will take you right in front of the temple, but you can also choose to hike. Despite the fees, it is worth the view and experience. On the temple, you can have them took a pic of you (with your phone) and it already included on the entrance fee earlier (better still to give them some tips tho!). Don't expect any toilets on any temples in Bali, so better put your load on the parking space downhill.

I will give you ALL the details. We arrived at 5:30am. The shuttle will take you up before 6am but first entry to the temple is at 6am. You pay for the shuttle, $45k IDR return. As soon as you get off the shuttle, you will be given a number. We were number 72 at 6am arrival. They will ask if you came with a driver, always say yes! If you don’t, they will not give you a number and make you wait forever. You then pay entrance, $55k IDR. Bring CASH! Our wait time was around 1hr 30 or so, not too bad. Those arriving at 7:30 had numbers of 200+ with an estimated 3 hour wait time. If you arrive first though, the sun is still down until around 6:30 so it’s better to have maybe numbers 30+. After paying entry, you will be given a sarong included in your price. You can pick the colour you want. Then you can enter the temple. It’s basically a photo shoot. There’s someone who will take pictures with you phone (and mirror to create pond effect - there is NO pond in real life). There’s also someone with a speaker phone directing. They will call the numbers one by one. You have 4 photos each and then 4 photos with your group (couple, family etc). So for instance, I took 4 photos, then 4 with partner then he took 4. The end. You have very little time so make sure to practice practice practice before you take the stage. Everyone is watching so it can be quite intimidating!! You cannot do yoga poses, kiss or lift up if your feet are about your waist. If you’re fast you can maybe achieve 5 photos. Our group jump shot was terrible so they’re not amazing at those, but they will turn on burst mode. You can take photos with the steps. One line is for pictures ON the steps but we gave up after barely moving in 30 mins (people take their time here!). There’s a shorter line for the middle steps but you cannot step on these! You will be told off if you try. The line to the right is entry to the prayer area. If you pay a donation you can enter here to join the locals. Around 7am there was a lot of locals walking through the gate to the prayer area. This stalled photography for quite some time but it’s very beautiful to see. If you don’t want to wait hours for your photo, you can take the shuttle back down and explore the town. You will need to pay again for a shuttle back up but it’s half price apparently. Just make sure you come back with plenty of time. Alternatively you can view the back of the gate by walking around. You can get a nice shot here by tipping the local, you just don’t have the volcano view as you can see in my picture. There are fees at all the toilets, around 5kIDR I believe. I recommend popping into a cafe and having a refreshment and using the free facilities. It’s a very steep incline up to the temple which may be difficult for some people. The temple itself isn’t super impressive, but the gate view is what makes this temple special. It’s an odd experience being such an organized photoshoot but the photos are gorgeous. Decide if it’s worth it for you!

Be aware that if you go here, you are literally paying to get a photo at that spot AND NOTHING ELSE! It's a photo opportunity. You don't get a cultural experience. You don't go in the temple. You just walk in, get a number and queue for hours for a photo, then leave. If that's your thing, you will love it. If not, you've been warned. Most 5 star reviews for this tourist trap are local guides.

Basically, it's your average Hindu temple, just that at this one, you can have your picture taken standing/sitting/jumping in of the arches of "heaven's gate", with only the sky beyond. The reflection you see in most pictures is not from a body of water, but a mirror held close to the camera. Reality is a lot less impressive. It's well organized though, instead of having to wait in a queue, you're assigned a number and they call them up one after another. No pushing and shoving and rushing to secure your place in line here, and they'll take your picture with the reflection for free (there's a donation box, but no obligation). What's really nice though is the view, the temple is situated on top of a steep hill and provides a stunning view of the mountains around - if the weather is clear. If it's not, the whole temple can be in the clouds, which is also kind of cool, but you won't see the mountains at all and pictures will be foggy. As the road up the hill is very steep and narrow, you are required to leave your scooter/car at a parking space at the foot of the hill. From there you take a shuttle bus. They run continuously, almost no waiting. The shuttle is 45k IDR both ways, the entrance fee to the temple is 55k (2023). If you're too lazy to walk the rest of the way, you can hire a moto from the shuttle drop off point for an additional 10k; it's only a couple of minutes walk up the hill though. A sarong is required but can be borrowed at/beside the ticket booth. Drones are prohibited.

The temple is beautiful and location amazing. However I strongly recommend to arrive at 6.00 a.m. to avoid the crowds of people and have to wait 2 hours to take the famous picture with the door of the temple and the Gunung Agung behind it. They give you a number for your place in the queue like at the supermarket! So the atmosphere is a bit ruined. Bus shuttle to the temple cost 45.000 IDR plus 55.000 IDR for entrance ticket. We walked to the temple, it took 30 minutes on a very steep road.

Absolutely stunning! You have to pay for the shuttle service from car park. And then pay an entrance fee. The wait to take a picture with the iconic viewpoint is 2-3 hours. Not the temples fault, but due to the amount of people wanting to take a photo. We didn’t take a photo there. Before you walk all the way up the entrance for waiting queue, on the left there is a entrance to the backside of the temple. You can also take a pic from there. You don’t get a view of the mountain backdrop , but at least the view of the temple architecture. See one of the photos I uploaded

Although this site was carefully mastered to pull money out of every tourists’ pocket, it was the highlight of our trip to the east side of Bali. I highly recommend you hire a guide and walk up to the top temple – 7 in total. There were zero “influencers” on the trail, which made it a peaceful experience. We saw a few monkeys and birds along the way. Be sure to bring cash. You’ll be charged for the following: bathroom usage, bus ride from the parking lot, temple entry, pictures with your own camera, guide up to temple, motor taxi, and tips. The pushy people selling trinkets made the group feel unsafe, but we managed.

Came here at around 3:30pm on a Monday afternoon. The architecture of the temple is really pretty, and there is a long queue for the photos taken at the gates. There will be people calling out your queue number for your turn to take a photo at the gate. So do preplan your poses before your turn. We waited about 1 hour for our turn for the photo. There are two pavilions flanking at the sides for people to wait for their turn. Quite cooling. The walk-up is really steep like.. 45 degrees , but about 300m climb up the road only after the bus takes you up from the ticket booth.

Incredible views and incredible temple! My wife and I LOVED visiting and embracing the culture. It is a bit of a hike from most places and after a long drive (arriving at 9:30) the wait for a picture was 2 hours. Speaks more to the magnitude of the temple more than anything! But nonetheless is a rough wait. We endured and had amazing pictures. Would recommend but temper expectations. Also, when visiting PLEASE respect local customs and traditions. Too many people visited for a picture only and disregarded the religious request.

This temple offers great mountain view, highly recommend if you're looking for great photo spot. I suggest you to come early in morning, because the photo queue can be too long. From parking area, you have to use their transportation, because it's quite far with difficult terrain. After that you can purchase the entrance ticket, and they will lend you cover (like sarung). You have to walk steep uphill to the temple, it's not quite far though around 5 mins.

It was a memorable experience and pictures taken were stunning however early morning arrival is highly advised as many people were keen to have the same photos therefore expect long queues and this can be beaten if you arrive very early. For example us, we arrived at 5:30 AM and we got Number 17 for picture- taking, short interval of 5-10 minutes could mean plus 20-30 numbers. Also the picture- taking will only last for less than 2 minutes so better prepare the poses you want or check out other people’s poses before you to get some ideas 🤣

Well known for the gates of heaven, this place is incredibly beautiful but requires patience from the visitors. Situation about 2-2.5 hours from central Ubud (sometimes even more, depending on traffic), Lempuyang temple offers views unique to the location. It is recommended to arrive as early as possible or during sunrise to beat the crowd, as well as get the pictures standing between the gates. The mountain at the rear is an active volcano that last erupted in 2017. Prepare to wait at the top in a queue as people take turns to get their pictures at this iconic spot. Also available are snacks from the parking area to the gates, which is a small walk. The entry fees are 55k per person, and the ticket for the shuttle bus is an additional 45k per person. It is recommended to get there via the shuttle bus as the walk otherwise has quite an incline.

I felt it was a tourist trap. I arrived at 5:30 in the morning and despite all that I got number 83. There are many drivers who get advantageous numbers and it is very difficult for tourists to get one. It was too much for us so we decided to enjoy this place without the famous picture at the gates of heaven. I think it's worth checking out if you're in Bali, but there are certainly other, much more beautiful places!

I am giving 4 star to make this place a tourist trap. No doubt the architecture is amazing but clicking photos with the mirror effect you have to come with extra time. It is insta famous stop. You will get good photos. We came here at6:30 am. From the entry gate you have to pay for shuttle go get up and another payments for temple visit and photography. You have to wear a Sarang here no matter how much long dress you are wearing. Also if you are wearing off shoulder, you have to take a shrug. They won’t charging for it. We got queue no 156 which take 3 hours to wait. We would suggest you if you wanted to take photos here do not come too early otherwise the background will be cloudy. Also be prepared with the poses mostly they take 4/5 pics per person. But if you are quick then can get more photos. After this temple there are two more spots which can take more three hours.

The Lempuyang Temple is definitely worth visiting! There are multiple photo places but the most iconic is the photo in front of the gate. When you arrive at the parking lot you find the ticket place to take you with a special shuttle to the temple. At the temple you have to pay entree. You get a free cloth to cover your legs (men also). On your ticket is a number that they will call so you can make the famous picture at the Lempuyang gate. We had to wait 2 hours for the photo but we had lunch and explored the temple. We had a great time!

You have to pay 50k for bus ride to and from parking lot to the base of the temple. Then you have to pay another 50k (local) and 100k (foreigner) for the entrance ticket. And you must wear sarong to enter the temple (you can borrow it before you enter). And they will give you queuing number to take photos to that famous gate. And someone will take your photos with your phone or camera. PS: they are using mirror under the lens

It was a great picturesque spot in Bali. And obviously popular because of it. However, all you need to know to get there you have to underwent such a long and tiring road because this temple is on the hill. And you need to park your car on the parking lots then you have to take the shuttle car run by the locals by paying IDR 25K per person/IDR 50K round trip. Then you have to pay another IDR 50K for its entrance ticket. Foreigners is charged twice more expensive than the locals. You can rent a traditional clothing downstairs. And if you don’t bring any cash (this place only accept cash), you can utilise the cash out service on the local shop.

Among group of 7 temples, Lempyung temple is the biggest one. Situated on the east coast of Bali and Mount Agung on the background, Lempyung temple has an entry and shuttle fee of IDR 100,000 along with parking charges as well. At the parking you pay for shuttle which takes you to the temple ticket counter. Once you are there you'll get entry tickets which includes sarong as well. Sarong is necessary. IMPORTANT - Do take the photo token with the entry tickets. Next, either walk or be a pillion rider of a local activa rider for 5K to the temple entrance. As soon as you enter the temple campus, just pause and feel the vibes there. Enquire the ongoing token number and make sure you don't miss your chance. If there's time for your token, take the stairs till the main temple gate. Sit there and enjoy the amazing view of Mount Agung. There's sitting area on both sides of Lempyung gate so kudos to the temple staff for maintaining the area. Pro tips - 1. Rehearse your poses well before your number 2. Reach there before 9am 3. Take something to eat and water bottles as well 4. Toilet charge at car parking is cheaper than other places And finally your number comes for the photo, you need to handover your phone to the concerned person there and he will take the photo for you. Hope you find this review helpful and all the best!!!!

Definitely one of the best places to visit in Bali. A quick 10 mins hike from the place where the paid bus service drops you. Architecture of the temple is quick exquisite. Reminds me of the Mayan architecture. Only downside is that it is very crowded and for the epic photos with the gate to heaven you will need to wait for 2-3 hours.

There are 7 temples to visit there the first is a tourist trap and is where you need to wait with a number to get these cool shots but that’s it. We wanted to to straight up to the 2nd temple where the mountain trail starts but we weee forces by the security to park the bike and get the mini bus to go to the first temple (theist trap) that cost 45000 rupees per person. As soon as we arrived we payed 50000 rupees each to enter to the temple. They have a queue number to take pictures where is actually a person there to do this for you, you just give the phone to them and they do their magic, the funny part there is they are like a machine and you have 5 poses to do so plan in advance lol. After that we took a bike ride 20000 rupees each for the second temple where the trail starts to go up to the top. You can always walk to the 2nd temple but was hot so we decided to treat ourselves .on the second temple your trail starts up to the mountain. Is about 2000 steps going up but the route is through the forest where is plenty of place to hide from the sun. It took us 2 hours to reach the top. Be aware with the monkeys on the way they can be aggressive so pick up a stick to scare them away. :) Overall is worth visiting even the 1st temple is a tourist trap (thanks to instagramers for that) The nature will reward you :)

(Translated by Google) Guys .. so that you won't be disappointed I will inform you that there is no lake here. The photos are the creativity of local residents. Entering here, we park the car in the designated field, Rp. 5,000 then take a shuttle to pay Rp. 50,000 per person, then at the entrance of Pura pay another Rp. 50,000 for photos and loan cloth. Women who are menstruating are not allowed to enter. No photos of kissing or photos of making out. From the counter to the temple it is close but uphill, there is a Rp.15,000 ojek if you want. If you want to rent Balinese kebaya, there is also a shop in the car park, the price is IDR 50,000 per set.

Very beautiful natural view of Mount Agung and its surrounding. The temple is quite also quite nice. The main attraction for photo shoot is the gate with Mt. Agung as the background. To get your photo shot there, you have to queue and you’ll get the queuing number when you buy the entrance ticket. Be patient. We waited for 2 hrs while we were there. And we’ve arrived at around 8pm. There is also small spots to take other pics, especially for the ladies who came during their period as they are not allowed to enter the temple. You just paid a small amount of money and a staff will take your picture with your camera. To go up to the temple, you must take a special tourist bus from the parking lot. The ticket bus and the entrance ticket are different.

(Translated by Google) Behind this incredible sight, the story almost took my life when google maps steered me down the wrong path. Initially I departed from Denpasar to Lempuyang Temple relying on Google Maps for the first time visiting here using a motorbike alone because I like traveling solo. On the way, Google Maps showed the closest route, namely the Mangosteen Mangosteen area, I took the Ngis road up to the top of the hill and was far from residential areas. At first the road was still asphalt but was very narrow and the area was very, very quiet, but I still think positively that the road on the hill maybe better. I continued my motorbike until the road was rocky and very narrow and also an extreme incline because I too trusted the map that led my way there, until finally I had gone through many extreme inclines and found myself in the middle being on two sides of a very high ravine. I almost fainted while getting off the motorbike and guiding my motorbike up a rocky incline and finally I couldn't stand it anymore and at that time I was dragged down almost to the edge of a steep ravine. Luckily there was someone nearby who I asked for help to lower my motorbike which was very far from the crowd and its position was already in the hills full of lonely and steep thickets. I really couldn't say anything else because it was so scary. Finally, after my motorbike arrived at the bottom of the asphalt road, I finally took the safe route by fixing the initial location to Candi Dasa beach, and from Candi Dasa beach I again benchmarked to Lempuyang Temple with the Amlapura City route. For those who are going to Lempuyang for the first time and without a GUIDE, I suggest never going through the mangosteen ngis route. Choose the path that passes through the Candidasa city route of Amlapura. Pilih jalur yg melewati candidasa jalur kota amlapura.

Completely worth for these pictures. But the only thing Is it’s too too too far it took 2:30 hours for us to reach. But no worries we come for places to visit popular places. So we had some fun clicking pictures here. All together for taking pictures and entering the temple it costed around 200k IDR. Reach little early I would suggest because it gets really crowded there and you will have to wait fro your turn for pictures.

Do you want to pay 150’000 (10$) for an « Instagram » picture ? Tourists can not go up by scooter and must pay a shuttle 50’000 (it does not even drop you off that close). The entry to the temple costs 100’000. There is nothing to do there except the photo. It is really small… Also you get a ticket with a number when entering. That number is your position in line to take the picture… The epitome of capitalizing on social media crazed tourists. However, the people in charge of the temple are very sweet and friendly !

This place is the so called "gate of heaven." A very old temple with magnificient view. The transportation fee was 50k/person to n fro the parking lot, the entrance fee was also 50k/person. The tips for the local guide and the photographer who took our mirror effect pictures were up to us, but since there were 4 of us, we gave them 50k each.

A huge pura (temple) complex here in Karangasem region of Bali. It has 8 temples and can take a couple of hours to cover them all It's quite a long way from Denpasar (2.5-hours drive). The fee is very steep, Rp 100k per person (shuttle bus and entrance). Most people visit the first temple for a photo shoot. Note that the reflection is just a camera trick, using a small mirror close to the camera lens. But the staff there were quite patient and helpful in taking photos of visitors (it was quite empty though). The best bit is definitely the jaw-dropping view of Mount Agung in between the pura gate. Just need to visit once though, as it's far and a bit overpriced.

Good, but only for instagram. You will pay 50 000 the bus from the parking and 50 000 for the entrance so 100 000 in total. Once on the top, you just have to wait for the picture, and that's it. There is another road before if you don't want to pay the bus.

In general, everywhere in Bali, tourists are only allowed in the temple premises. You can never worship anywhere in the shrines, but just go around and click pictures. Overrated place ! Reaching this place is almost 2 hours from Ubud area. Once you reach car parking, there’s a paid bus service (45K IDR) which picks you to go up the hill and to a certain point. Temple is further uphill for around 400 meters. We chose to hire the motorbike drivers, they charge 10K IDR to drop you up the temple. Temple entry fee is 55K. The fun is, the entire crowd is waiting (average waiting time is around 3 hours) just to click pictures for Instagram. There are staff who give you token and call you by number to take pictures. Of course they use a mirror on top of the phone camera to get a reflection that folks posts on the Instagram. When we entered our token was some 100+ numbers to the current and we were asked to wait. There are steps to go to the main shrines, but was restricted entry. We just took pics ourselves and moved in 10 minutes. But the craze for the visitors, especially the honeymooners who want to prove a point of Instagram photo literally waits for the 3 hours !!! Adding to this, the shops nearby charge a bomb of money for anything that you ask for. Sprite was 26K, Water was 20K. Not worth a long drive, just overrated. Wow the views of this place are amazing and there’s so many spots to the photos because the wait to take the main picture can be over an hour. You must bring snacks and patience🤣 I would recommend coming super early so you can at least be the first 20🥲

The Lempuyang temple is probably one of the most photographed temples in Bali, located on the slope of Mount Lempuyang in Karangasem, east Bali. Locally known as Pura Luhur, Lempuyang is one of Bali’s oldest and most highly regarded temples. It is also believed to predate the majority of Hindu temples on the island! Also, if you need the picture then must go in the morning because it will take atleast 2-3 hours of waiting for the picture.

Lempuyang Temple is an absolute gem in Bali. The iconic 'Gates of Heaven' provide a breathtaking backdrop for photos, and the temple itself offers a serene and spiritual experience. The journey to the temple is an adventure in itself, with stunning views of Mount Agung along the way. Be prepared for some stair climbing, but the view from the top is truly worth it. But there's a long queue for taking pictures in heaven gate

This is a must see tourist attraction, but be prepared that the wait for the photos will likely be in excess of an hour, on the day I went it exceeded 2 hours. Lots of beautiful areas to take photos. It is breathtaking and I am so glad I went there.

A beautiful place high up in the mountains and can be quite a trip if driving by yourself. As you can see by everyone's photos, it's a magnificent place to get those all important Instagram photos, at a price of course, you must hire a photographer to take your pictures with your camera in order to get the true mirror effects as seen in the photos. That's on top of the 50k Rp for the bus up the mountain, then for those who don't want to walk up the hill even further another 5K for the motorbike and then 50k entrance fee into the temple. So if your with a family, it can be an expensive day out but only you can decide if it's worth it. For some it is, for others it isn't. In general most people will pay. It is worth the visit. You only live once.

It is a beautiful place, but a lot of tourists visit here which makes it super crowded. There is a very huge line with waiting period of 1-2 hours to get pictures clicked on the gate of heaven. We can take a good afternoon nap while waiting for our turn. But it is worth it. The people clicking the photographer will create the reflection using a mirror they have. It's simply a photographic trick.

A legendary place with a gate reflection 😄 Which is created by a mirror that holds the stuff. You have to pay for this, and if you arrived a little later - to stand in a huge queue to take such a photo. In general, a very steep view from other points of the volcano, I recommend visiting early in the morning at the opening and on the way to call in the water palaces.

Surely a tourist trap with a price tag that can be extravagant for some from shuttle bus fee to entrance fee just to get to the spot where you can pose for photo to put on Instagram. Bring car? Still have to pay to get on shuttle bus. Ample parking though. The photo spot can have a very long queue depending on the day and the time that you go. The reflection you see on various traveler's photos are simply just illusion based on photo taking technique so don't get fooled as some didn't know. Only worth it if you want that same photo travel bloggers or influencers all have.

Crowded... Cost 110k in total... 50k for transportation they made (compulsory). 50k for entrance (compulsory). 10k for tips (not compulsory).

Nice place to take photos at, but you need to pay shuttle fee, entrance fee, and parking fee. For domestic tourist it will cost you IDR105K, additional 50K added if you are an international tourist (photos service is included). Actually it has not have a water below the gate, but they fake it with a black mirror like glass, so its reflect like a water.

I came here 3 years ago and you could just drive up on your bike, put in a little donation and gain access to the temple. Now you must take a shuttle bus(45000) and buy entry ticket(55000). Still prices aren't too high for what you get. Spectacular views and of course the iconic pics at the gate

This please was on top of our list of places to be visited in Bali. We went here from Ubud in two wheeler which took us 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Parking is free. From parking to main ticket counter u have to take a shuttle and for that u have to pay 45k IDR per person. In the main ticket counter you have to pay 55k IDR per person. You will be given a queue number for the photo shoot. Then comes the last stretch of steep climb to the temple. The place is very good for photos but for the gate to heaven photos u have to wait in the queue. We had to wait almost 4 hours for this photo. If you are not that crazy about the photo go any time off the day but if you want the photo in gateway to heaven better reach there as early as possible as the temple opens by 6am. The food near the main ticket counter is costly.

(Translated by Google) Must dress modestly and must wear kamben / sarong. Scarves are provided for women who wear short sleeves and are even good for photo prop. Currently the entrance ticket for tourists is 50k / person, no donations are voluntary like before, try to come in the morning before 8 o'clock because above that hour it is certain to be crowded and the queue can be very long to be able to take photos at the spot of a million people 😁 (Original) Harus berpakaian sopan dan wajib memakai kamben/sarung.

Temple on top of the mountains. You will have to take the ferry transport from the carpark up to the temple, purchase the ticket there. Upon reaching the entrance, you are required to purchase the entry admission tickets, followed by a short hike uphill to reach the entrance. The queue for the phototaking at the Gate of Heaven takes 2-3hours alone in the morning, which is probably great for social media photography. Alternatively, you can take a picture with the Gate at the other side. There is no waiting time for me, as there's only 1 couple in front of us. During clear skies, you will be able to see Mt Agung.

Its really far from Ubud and located on the far eastern side of Bali. It took us 2 hours 15 minutes even in the early morning to reach there from Ubud. You need to go very early in the morning to get the photo taken@gates of heaven. Clouds do cover the volcano on the back, half of the time. There's a big queue here to take a photo with water like optical illusion. Nothing much around here. But a quite nice place.

We arrived at the spot by Saturday noon and got the queue number something about 250 (the exact number I don’t remember already). It took us approximately 4 hours waiting till we could make our shots. Yep, that’s quite a lot, but it’s quite understandable either: firstly: it was a day off and secondly, there were many people who arrived as a part of Instagram tours, and as far as we got it, they were making their photos, skipping a general queue. Anyway, we knew the rules in advance and had a clear vision of what to expect, so necessity of purchasing tickets and long waiting didn’t bother us at all. Moreover, there were two roofed-in places on the spot, where was quite comfortable to sit and wait the queue, avoiding a scorching sun. At the end of the day, we got what we came for, and our photos were really good enough (not so good as photos made for those who came with tours though, but it’s fine). The only thing which really disappointed us was a filthy toilet for using of which we had to pay extra 5000. That was gross! The rest was quite predictable.

A multi-colored sarong is provided for you to wear when you pay for your entrance ticket. Plan ahead by wearing a solid color top that will match a variety of sarong colors. We had to wait about 1.5 hours for our turn to take a photo. There are areas to sit while you wait and a juice stand with fresh fruit & juices to purchase from across the street. There is a functioning temple you walk up the stairs and view locals praying. Once photos are done you can walk through & down to take more photos in front of other buildings and volcano view. Overall it was worth the early morning trip.

Its one of the oldest Hindu temple in Bali. The temple is very beautiful, however, entry to the main area of temple is restricted to tourist. You have to wear formally, that means shoulder and knee should be covered. You are required to maintain decency in the temple complex. The main tourist attraction of the place is the gate which is also known as the Gate of Heaven. The photos are amazing and you can see Mount Agnug in the backdrop. The wait time for us to take the photos at the gate was 4 difficult hours.

  • 2/5 George T. 6 months ago on Google
I really feel that this spot became known just for the mirroring photos... You have to wait more than 3 hours in order to have this kind of photo... Nothing more to offer. There are plenty of temples in Bali far better than this. Also you have to pay both for the bus 45.000 IDR and the entrance 50.000 IDR!!! If you are an influencer there is no better place to be...

(Translated by Google) The place is very beautiful and the photos are of course gorgeous. But! We rented a car for a day, and our driver was not allowed into the territory, because now you can only get to the gate by a shuttle, the price of which is 50k per person. And you are taken on it not to the location itself, but to the ticket office, where you need to buy a ticket (plus another 100k per person). And from the ticket office you will need to walk downhill again. Here, of course, you will be offered a ride on a scooter. But we went on our own. Also a huge minus - you are simply wrapped in scarves. On a belt instead of a skirt (well, this is the norm) and a scarf on the shoulders. These scarves cannot be removed, so the photos are so-so. Wear T-shirts or something that covers your body as much as possible. Then he can only manage with a scarf on his feet.

Its only place to take a good picture while you're in bali, you have to wait for 1-2 hours only to get turn for pictures. Also don't surprise if they charge you a high price for entry and for transport. It's so commercial there. It quite high price for entrance rather than other place in bali.

One of holy temple with perfect scene of Mt Agung if you visit in a clear day

  • 5/5 Habibi Yusuf S. 3 years ago on Google
The place is very beautiful. There is a majestic gate with Mt Agung as background. When you're lucky, you can take a photo with the clear mountain between the gate. You can also aks the officer there to get a stunning photo with a perfect reflection (special trick). In front of the gate, there is a beautiful giant temple. I came there last week where the pandemic still happens and almost no visitor here. So, fortunately, I can get the photo as many as I want without worry about the queue as it happens in busy time. Recommended!

Such a great experience to see the volcano between the wings of the gate. It's clever to wake up early and arrive on time to the spot, the que is always huge. Finally I think totally worth it. 5 stars!

  • 3/5 Tracy S. 3 years ago on Google
This is really a beautiful place, but the main purpose for all the traffic is the gates of heaven photo op. Basically, everything in this temple accommodates that, with pavilions built to house the lines to take pictures. When we arrived, we were told the line would take 3-4 hours to get through--we didn't feel like it was worth it. There's so much more to explore and look through in the area. Ladies, make sure your shoulders are covered as this is still a temple, regardless of the photo op its become. We saw a girl and her mother flaunt these rules and had to delete their photos and escorted away, while yelling at the local guide. Please don't be those people! Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be slightly different.

Lempuyang Temple "The gates of heaven." Ubud, Bali Beautiful temple, but the lines are long, BEWARE! We got there 30 min after it opened, and we were still #112 in line!! This temple is about a 2.5 hr drive from Ubud and is known for having the gates of heaven. You can't enter past the stairs above this pic as it's only for religious practices, but you can walk around the non-restricted areas and take pics. To visit, you must wear a sarong and cover your shoulders.
