Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village is a hidden gem that exceeded all my expectations. This unique village offers an immersive cultural experience that is truly one-of-a-kind. The village itself is like a living museum, showcasing ancient traditions and a way of life that has been preserved for centuries. The locals are incredibly warm and welcoming, always ready to share their stories and traditions with visitors. One of the highlights of my visit was witnessing the traditional crafts and arts that are practiced in Tenganan. From intricate weaving to beautiful basketry, the artisans' skills are awe-inspiring. It was a privilege to see their craftsmanship up close and even purchase some unique souvenirs to take home. The architecture in Tenganan is also remarkable. The traditional houses with their intricate carvings and distinct layout provide a glimpse into the village's rich history. What struck me the most about Tenganan was the sense of peace and tranquility that enveloped the entire village. Away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, I found myself immersed in a serene atmosphere. The absence of motorized vehicles added to the calmness, allowing me to truly appreciate the beauty of my surroundings. I highly recommend taking a leisurely stroll through the village, interacting with the friendly locals, and embracing the unique cultural experiences offered. Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic, peaceful, and enriching cultural experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to have visited this remarkable place, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart

The highlight of our East Bali tour. Hire a guide by donation and get a walk through this beautiful village. Lots of different arts are practiced here, many of which are unique to this village - including weaving (double ikat) and calligraphy. A good spot to buy nice souvenirs like sarongs and scarves or wall hangings.

Ah, Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village in Bali, a timeless enclave where ancient traditions and cultural heritage thrive amidst the lush landscapes of the island. This unique village offers a captivating glimpse into the rich tapestry of Balinese customs and a chance to step back in time to a world untouched by modernity. As you approach Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village, you'll feel a sense of anticipation building within you. The village is known for preserving its traditional way of life, and you can't help but wonder what wonders await you within its walls. As you enter the village, you'll be greeted by cobblestone streets and charming thatched-roof houses, exuding an atmosphere of old-world charm. The villagers, known as Bali Aga or "Original Balinese," are warm and welcoming, eager to share their customs and stories with curious visitors like yourself. The heart of Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village is its unique and vibrant community life. Here, you'll find a tightly-knit society bound by age-old traditions and rituals that have been passed down through generations. Witness the daily activities of the villagers, from traditional weaving to intricate handicrafts, showcasing the artistry and skill that are an integral part of their daily lives. One of the village's highlights is the mesmerizing process of double ikat weaving, a meticulous technique used to create stunning textiles known as gringsing. The skill required to produce these intricate patterns is a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship of the villagers. Another fascinating aspect of Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village is its unique custom of "Mekare-kare" or "Perang Pandan." This traditional ritual involves young men engaging in friendly duels using thorny pandan leaves. It's a spectacle that captivates both locals and visitors alike, providing a glimpse into the village's age-old warrior traditions. But beyond its customs and rituals, Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village also offers a breathtaking natural setting. Surrounded by lush rice terraces and emerald green hills, the village is a haven of serenity and beauty. Take a leisurely stroll through the tranquil landscapes, allowing the essence of Bali's natural beauty to wash over you. As the day draws to a close, you may choose to stay in one of the village's charming homestays, immersing yourself in the rhythm of daily village life. The experience will leave an indelible mark on your soul, allowing you to connect with the spirit of Bali in a profound and meaningful way. So, my fellow travelers, if you seek to uncover the heart and soul of Bali, venture to Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village. Embrace the enchanting traditions, admire the craftsmanship, and be captivated by the warm hospitality of its people. It's a journey back in time, where the ancient and the modern intertwine, leaving you with memories that will linger long after you bid farewell to this extraordinary village.

Hire the tour guide at the front from the village! There is so much history, very fascinating. Highly recommend to do while in east bali. But be sure to have a driver stay or you won’t have an easy way out.

I was lost here because GOOGLE MAPS DIRECT ME TO THIS PLACE BY BROKEN DIRT ROAD! I did not know this was a cultural village. The people here are so nice , they guide us how to go back to the main road easily. How did i ended up here? So i was going back to Kuta from east, and google ended up making pathway that is so unreasonably rocky , dirt, and broken.

An Amazing village with an incredible culture and community!!! The people who live here open their village to the public to enjoy the experience in sharing in their traditions and ceremonies. Come with kindness and respect for this amazing community and share in their culture 🙏

While the village was incredibly nice and well preserved and our guide was super informative and interesting we walked to the end of the village, north gate, only to see that all the plastic trash is thrown down the hill towards the river. Signs everywhere are saying do not do this. But they are not working. The village needs to educate the residents in waste management. This is not a good solution.

A quiet Bali Aga village. Oldest inhabitants of Bali with a different Balinese dialect. Small village with little information. You have to pay for a guide if you want to know its history. Very nice villagers that would chat with you. Village is not too big and it seems that they require more fund to maintain its architecture. They have a special weaving technique called double ikat. You have to be careful of the prices of the geringsing and haggle quite hard with the artisans. I bought a nice palm-leaf manuscript depicting Bali Aga architecture here.

Amazing original balinese people village. Tenganan people do not have cast system as rest of balinese. Tenganan traditions and ceremonies are unique. This village opened for foreigners only 1970, before that it was forbidden to enter this village. Tenganan is famous for their Double Ikat cloth weaving and Lontar Scriptures.

Amazing authentic village. Many many shops for egg painting, sueving, masks and stories. Good parking and road to it. There are no entrance fee but donation. Possible to walk for 2 hours easily. Don’t forget to go inside of shops. I found many interesting souvenirs here. Almost no tourists. Of course if you don’t come with buses time. Possible to negotiate in the shops a little bit.

One of the oldest and most isolated villages with a rich history. But not the amazing experience I read many people have here. Expect a lot of mud, rooster fights, trash, food and other touristy stuff. The unique double woven products weren't even made in the village when I asked.

A beautiful village but turned into a whole tourist business area. Walking around trying to appreciate the village was difficult as people are trying to earn through the tourist which I don't blame them for. While talking around learn how difficult it's for them and more than half the population have moved away to find good jobs and opportunities. Do visit the area as the people living there are so kind.

Love the experience here. The overall village is not as good as Penglipuran but still authentic. It was not very touristy. Maybe the problem is there are some waste in some area so a little bit dirty. Better if you visit when they have some acitivity schedule

There wasn't much to see and experience. I remember visiting some years back and there was some festival. That was exhilarating. So, best to visit when they have some ceremony going on.

Very interesting place, rich in history and its own traditions! Seems like in February and June there are many ceremonies. Although we didn't like how our guide pressured us to buy something multiple times even if we told her we didn't have anything left in cash after the "donation" they wanted as an entrance fee (by the way is 50K rupiah), is still worth it to visit this village! Would have given more stars, but the guide's behavior was rude.

A must visit of iconic place in Bali. You can enjoy the traditional building of balinese in this village. What a good experience. Love it. I can learn so many things from here, like the tradition, the rules of the villagers, the iconic fabric which is Tenun Tenganan Pegeringsingan, and many more

A very interesting village to visit, everyone was so friendly and it was very interesting to see the bamboo artwork and how the production of cloths where woven. I just paid a donation to enter. I can highly recommend visiting this village.

Nice location to see a traditional Balinese living environment. Unfortunately, it has become very commercial and mainly focuses on the sale of souvenirs. It is still worth it and it is recommended to take a guide if you want to know more about the culture

Ancient, beautiful village where the Bali Aga people have lived for generations, the oldest inhabitants of Bali. The renowned double Ikat cloth is made here, along with other traditional authentic crafts and calligraphy. Almost no tourists were here when I visited. You enter by donation and I strongly suggest you hire a guide to learn about the history of the village and help maintain its unique architecture.

A place where the natives of Bali, called Bali Age, live here. Everything is original. Wow!

The village itself is worth a visit. I also don't mind to donate a bit money at the entrance to preserve this rare place of balinese history. BUT I really don't like the plastic and trash "handling" in and around the village. And it's not primarily a tourist problem as it was the same the last time I visited the location during COVID-19 lockdown when no tourists where on the island... Even my balinese friends got angry how careless the locals "get rid" of their trash... PS: And when we asked why the chicken are so colorful, they answered they just do it for the "Instagramers"🤬🥺 PLEASE STOP THIS NONSENSE! It's kind of animal abuse...

A slice of Bali not many tourists seek out, ancient practices as well as dyeing roosters ‘just for fun’ & naming them Lady Gaga & Beyoncé! Donation entry.
