Stunning memorial commemorating more than 14,000 of the missing, the men of the British Empire who fell in the Somme area between March and August 1918. Casualties of the German Spring Offensive and subsequent battles who have no known grave. The memorial stands in open countryside, about a kilometre west of Pozières on the Bethune road. The front wall of the memorial is in an arcade style with an imposing gateway. The remaining three sides hold the panels containing the names of the missing. Enclosed within the four walls is the Pozières British Cemetery, the final resting place for more than 2,700 men, many of them from the original Somme battlefields dating from 1916.

A large walled cemetery with graves the names of many lost and missing allied soldiers engraved in the wall. A common site to visit along the main road into Albert.

The Pozieres cemetery / memorial is must visit when touring the Somme battlefield or just passing by. Situated on the main road from Bapaume to Albert it is located just outside the village of Pozieres. Only a 5 minute drive from Thiepval memorial , Ulster Tower and Lochnagar crater. Lest we forget ❤️ 🌹

A very well maintained cemetery to some of the fallen of WW1 . Walking from Albert gives one the sense of the distance the soldiers walked after disembarking from the train in Albert . It's also close to Mouquet Farm . Site of a battle involving the Australian troops . Lastly Thiepval you can see it in the distance should not be missed . RIP William Albert Barker 3 Battalion Toronto Regiment Killed in action on September 20, 1916 age 17 , buried in Poziere Cemetery

A somber place, this is one of many memorials along this road, a place to remember the brave souls who gave their lives for ours to be free. (I didn't want to do a rating, but it won't allow me to post without. Very annoying google)

A very sobering place to visit. So many gave their lives for us. Immaculately kept. Everyone should visit a war cemetery in France.

Beautiful solemnity. Sadly not wheelchair friendly. Easy parking on both sides of the road.

👍👍 This is just one of 19 craters made at pretty much the same moment along a 9 mile ridge. The chain of detonations instantly killed an estimated 10,000 German soldiers. The night before the detonation the guy in charge of the tunneling teams apparently said; "Gentlemen, I don’t know whether we are go...
