I have been to Cafe Zajal with my sister and my son in the weekend, after a long tour checking books and bookshops. I was impressed by the hospitality, the service, the quality of food and the impressive decor. This place is a must-visit when you pass by the downtown area in Amman. Kids can enjoy their time too

Amazing restaurant With local dishes. The staff is amazing and really helpful in deciding what to drink or eat, clear explainations in multiple languages, just wonderful. I would definitely eat here again

Food was delitious! Live music. At the begin it seemd like a too touristic place but later it was full with locals singing and smoking schisha! Women only were having fun until late, so a safe place for tourists.

Very nice place. We had the best Iftar with a lot of diverse and delicious food. Even the sweets were super delicious. The atmosphere was vivid, friendly and the staff welcoming.

Everything is freash and the food is great. Both seating ereas (the hall and the balcony) have cozy vibes and staff is nice as well.

We were told the restaurant was closed even though it was past the opening time and there were customers inside. Shameful "hospitality" In reply to the owner: as I said, there were people inside and you were serving them. The waitress decided to not welcome us based only on appearance (which was not out of the ordinary and did not get us excluded from any other establishment in Jordan)

What amazing decor for starters! How this place is not thronged with people, I don’t know! It’s hipster cool and would be mobbed in London and New York. Waiters are friendly, efficient and all the staff speaks very good English. The food portions are HUGE, cheap and delicious. I got the aubergine and halloumi salad the first time I was here and had to get it for takeaway it was so large! Second time for dinner and I had the freekah with shrimp which was so creamy and savoury as well as the labneh and a veg starter. The menu has plenty of veg options which made me happy 😃 Fabulous IG-worthy exterior staircase to the restaurant as well where lots of people take photos.

Great staff, friendly fast in responding, never loved to eat in a Caffe shop but they are equal to the restaurants that are specialised in food 😍🔥

A fine restaurant in the downtown area located at the colorful stairs. They have a diverse menu of local food items. They serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. They serve vegetarian, chicken, lamb, beef, and seafood food items. They also offer non-alcoholic drinks and desserts. Their indoor seating has a touch of history in it. Staff are friendly, service is good, and the food is very tasty. They are priced above average, and accept payment by card or cash. They also deliver. There is a paid parking garage within 200 meters.

Nice restaurant with beautiful atmosphere. Friendly staff. We tried 2 traditional dishes, lots of rice but small portion of chicken but I guess that's how the traditional meals are. As for the taste not so good and not bad either, but that's just my opinion. Overall everything was good.

In almost two weeks of travelling through Jordan, we have not eaten as brilliantly as we have here at Zajal Restaurant in Amman. No matter what we ordered, whether cold or hot starters, various main courses or desserts everything tasted fantastic every time. Even the coffee at the end tasted far better than at other places. So we have visited Zajal three times and are so happy to have accidentally got an insider tipp about this restaurant. So if you're looking for a place to dine where the food is superbly cooked with a touch of individuality from the chef, everything is fresh and wonderfully aromatic, then be sure to visit Zajal. A real culinary feast for the palate awaits you! We would also like to thank the entire team for their first class service, Dorota and Peter from Berlin.

I had an outstanding experience at Zajal Restaurant and Café. The service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the menu offered a great variety of flavorful dishes. The ambiance, complemented by live entertainment, made our visit truly memorable. I highly recommend Zajal for a five-star dining experience.

We stopped here for a late lunch and had an excellent meal. In addition to having a delicious selection of middle eastern options, you can get a table on the upper level overlooking the street. For a visitor to Amman its a great place to get some experience with some classic dishes while you watch the city go by below. An excellent choice if you are in the area. Our server was very friendly and always available. Portions were generous and we ended up taking food home.

Loved eating here! The service was fantastic, the guys looked after us so well and made our daughter feel super special and included her in serving the dish (maqluba), which was delicious! We loved our spot on the balcony people watching life below us on the street.

We found this place somwhat by accident and it ended up being a fantastic experience. Our waiter Baha looked after us perfectly, suggesting a selection of local food which was a terrific introduction to Jordanian cuisine. We had a table on the balcony and were able to watch downtown Amman come to life as the evening progressed We had the Makluba with chicken, the Mensaf lamb and a local lemon drink made with mint. This is a terrific restaurant and I would high recommended it.

Where do I start, first the positive things. The staff is amazing, the location is nice and the decoration is cute. But I got food poisoning after I had a breakfast here… the Swiss cheese was definitely not good anymore and I had a horrible day the day after

Good place to rest at if you're walking or shopping in downtown, the service is perfect. I recommend you to sit on the terrace floor, the have real peacocks and white doves their. The food is good as well, I wouldn't give 5 stars because the sweets are not that good and they don't have a playing area for children, but in general it's a very nice place. The place is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Oh! They also have a photographer , he takes a good photo for you and print it in a wooden frame immediately, it costs 5 JOD only, you can have it printed without the wooden frame for 2 JOD. Prices are affordable, not very expensive yet not very cheap.

7 of us went for late breakfast July 14, 2022. We were greeted very graciously and seated promptly. The service was amazing. HOWEVER, the food was less then average but more concerning was how awfully dirty the table and chairs were. And one of our dishes (fatet Hummus) was محمضه. I would not recommend going here.

The decor is very very dated compared to older reviews and photos. Service is excellent. Food is below par.

  • 4/5 Cristiana C. 2 years ago on Google
Location is adorable. Food good but not mindblowing. A bit expensive for what it is. Service can be described as “too attentive”, staff was constantly onto us, changing the shisha every 5 minutes and removing every bit of rubbish from our table constantly. A bit too formal for what this place is. Maybe someone’s idea of a good dining experience but I found it too much. Terrace felt also a bit claustrophobic with all the shisha smoke and no air.

This place is must to visit in the downtown! Quite, artistic, and oriental place. I didn't try the food but drinks and sweets were upto expectation. Prices are bit high but very reasonable for the place and service. Go there and sure you will not regret it! Enjoy!
