I would like to share a very unfortunate experience that I had at Istishari Hospital which should be known by other customers, and especially expatriates living in Amman to avoid possible medical scams. I went to Istishari Hospital (emergency room) following an ankle sprain back in October 2020. After doing an x-ray and asking for the diagnosis from an orthopedist, a man dressed on a suit came into the emergency room and gave me the card of an orthopedist surgeon. He told me to visit him the next day in his clinic. Long story short, I had a terrific experience with this orthopedic surgeon as he recommended me to receive a surgery which I learnt from other doctors in Europe that it should have never been performed given that my ligaments would have healed by themselves in few weeks. The cost of the surgery was 15.000 JD (for a 45 minutes surgery), which made me doubt about the medical reason for performing such surgery. 6 months later, and having huge problems of mobility, I tried to understand how a recommended hospital like Istishari collaborates with medical scammers such as the orthopedist who destroyed my foot. I was told by the management team that the doctor entered in the hospital illegally, and that someone from Istishari staff called him (to probably receive a part of the cake from the surgery, there is quite a lot of parts to distribute with 15.000 JD). I don't doubt that the hospital has excellent doctors but it is totally unacceptable to have medical staff freely allowing outside doctors entering the emergency rooms as if they were working there. The impact this had on my physical and mental health is indescribable. I had to do a second surgery and have been unable to run, hike, stand for more than 30 minutes for almost a year now, just because of an initial ankle sprain that could have cured in couple of weeks. Istishari holds a big part of the responsibility and medical scams in Jordan should really stop to avoid perpetrating these awful practices.

I’ve never had a worse experience like the one I’m having today in the emergency at this hospital. The receptionists and security staff were so rude and cold-hearted. Being in the emergency is very stressful but a bit of kindness from the staff can mark a difference

My wife had a surgery there one month ago. The medical staff (both doctors as well nurses) on the second floor were excellent. They were cooperative and helpful. However management is very poor. Surgery was expected to take 2 hours but took almost 4 hours. Despite my several questions to know why, no one was there to answer or relieve my worries. Only one nurse was at the recovery area and she had no answers. After the 4 hours surgery and 2 hours at recovery, they sent ONE nurse to take her back to her room. Imagine one nurse to push the bed, hold the file and watch the equipment attached. I felt sorry for the poor gal. Myself, my sister in law had to help transfer my wife to the other bed. Room is small, furniture is worn out, parking is a nightmare. Other than that it's a great hospital. At the room, only that nurse, myself Construction works very annoying, parking is a nightmare, wo

Expensive sure, but the people are great there. The doctors are really nice and knowledgable. At least the cancer department and surgery. Where they shine even more is the outpatient doctors. So good.

Very Good Services from Doctors, nurses and administrative staff with the exception of random nurses who were reported to the management for their attitude and ignorance which prompted the management to take immediate disciplinary action towards those... Responsiveness of the higher level did certainly ensure the satisfaction to the patient thereafter...

I know this is not a food review but it’s import to know we’re to go if you run into problems in Jordan. This hospital is top-notch this is coming from a resident of Canada where healthcare is free and we are known for quality care in our hospitals. the hospital but beware insurance is a must if you’re coming here as it may be too costly to pay otherwise. Very clean and no lineups. This is what all hospitals you like. This is solely subjective.

I have delivered my baby last week, c section, generally, the service was really good, nurses and doctors were helpful and kind. The only thing I did not like was the nursery section, they were trying to push for formula feeding although we told them we wanted to breast feed the baby. They should help mothers with the breast feeding instead of just choosing the easy way for them.

For the prices they charge, you should get better service and vary expensive for nothing. The staff at the front desk are unprofessional, and they make up prices. The worst hospital in Jordan. I definitely don't recommend this hospital.

it is really shocking the level of un profissionality and lack of management. emergency entry and normal accountant are in the same window and the same person. so people with emergency cases should wait till others complete their payments procedures!!. really shocking and I do not recommend this hospital at all. i remeber it was one of the best hospitals in Jordan but now it is in the same level as public hospitals. employees dont show any interest in serving people. simply we waste our time in visitng this hospital for an emergency case and directly moved to other hospital.

You get what you pay for here in Jordan. This is the best hospital in Jordan. The quality of care and personal attention I received was excellent. Plus they’ve got the pulmonary life sustaining equipment I needed in case of emergency during my surgery. Operating room was on par with what I’ve seen in the United States. I would’ve appreciated some ice after surgery and more TV channels. That would’ve made my stay five stars.

Good doctors.. great nurses..except one lady was not so nice .. sometimes u need to ask or call nurses 3 or 4 times to respond to ur request .. One of the nurses opened the pills and gave them to the patients by his own hands instead of a cup .. we do not know what he touched before that .. Cleaning service respond quickly but some of them not qualified to do hygienic stuff ..one of them used the same tissue to clean everything in the bathroom and I was shocked!!!! Toilet seat from down to the upper surface and all other parts of the toilet ..he just spread the germs everywhere!!. . limited number of tv channels about 10 and half of them not working well .. nutritionist was nice but do not plan well for the meals... the patient removed the gallbladder and doctor asked to have meal with low fat and no milk..etc but nutritionist did not have idea .so we requested what the patient can have and what she likes to eat and they were good :) ..meals some good ..some super bad especially the soup which is very important in the patient' meal -not tasty, zero salt and lots of cinnamon! Salt is not provided in any meal.. In general this hospital is good but needs some improvements. . Thanks to all the staff except that no-smile nurse :)

Regardless of the prices I left the hospital in pain because the doctor didn’t show up (the resident doctor) public relations called I asked for the doctor then the nurse as well promised to call a doctor so I waited for more than an hour and no one showed up… also the insurance office are not professional at all they sent the request to the wrong address so I had to call the insurance my self internationally and follow up with them asking for approvals. Advice: 1- make sure to verify with the insurance while at the admin & insurance and make sure they send the paperwork to the correct address. 2- ask the administrator and the doctor before you get in the room and make sure they promise to provide you with the decent service and won’t let you alone in pain for a long time. 3- If you find a better option better hospital then just go for it. Good luck

My husband left crawling out of the hospital from the pain. You better count to ten and think twice before taking any decisions or actions.

Awful service. Arrogant and slow to respond staff. Worn out facilities. My wife gave birth in this hospital and it was a nightmare on all aspects since we entered the hospital. I can’t wait to get outta here and never return to this dying business.

I went to the emergency to remove stitches , the assigned person to do this left two stitches in side my finger and now I have an infection. Very simple thing was not done properly, imagin what they will do with more complex medical operations!
