I’m originally from Kyoto, Japan, and moved to Lisbon last year. Last night, I found this restaurant satisfied my needs and crave for authentic Japanese foods. Chef Paulo fit right in at the counter, and I felt as if I was in Japan. Ingredients were all very fresh, many rarely found in European markets, and I was very much impressed and grateful for that. Chef Paulo keeps the tradition of Japanese kaiseki, and his ingenuity, originality and skills make each dish very special. For instance, sushi rice is mixed with milder red rice vinegar, kizami-wasabi as well as regular wasabi, and soy sauce uniquely mixed with uni and citrus, etc, - subtle, but definitely brings new experience of tastes. The 7 course menu made my palate very happy, and the pleasant memories of special dinner will stay with me for a long time.

Top end kaiseki / omakase experience in Lisbon. This is pretty much the only omakase restaurant in the whole of the city FYI and for those from London, think sushi tetsu / Endo at rotunda etc. The whole places only sits about 6-8 people as it’s the one counter only. We went for the full tasting menu as such, with fantastic interesting dishes (including wagyu sukiyaki, clams, chawanmushi and more), followed by a symphony of delicious fresh nigiri with most of the fish coming from Portugal. The chef serving us (who was working alongside Paul) was fantastic - really knowledgeable, passionate about the food, friendly and welcoming. They also served a pairing of sakes and/or white wine which was great too. €300 for the two of us, which for this high quality cuisine is actually good value. Definitely recommend for serious Japanese food lovers. 18/20

A truly amazing experience with the most friendly service from Paulo and Hugo. We had the nine course with drinks (150 EUR per person) and every dish astounded us. The sashimi and sushi was fresh, leveraging local seafood where possible (including sea urchin). One dish focused on tomatoes and every piece was unique and spectacular. Well worth the cost and if nine dishes is too much, go for the five course which others were having. A recognition as well to Pauli’s daughter who folds the tiniest origami cranes I have ever seen.

Exceptional dining experience with the Kayseki style Japanese food (just one table with 8-9 chairs, nothing more), with the Michelin starred chef that prepares with his hands many different sushi combinations in front of you. Worth the stop! Thank you. Food quality is amazing, service is perfect and the ambience is minimalist, clean and intimate.

One of the best kaiseki experiences I have ever been too! The fish was fresh and locally sourced. The staff was amazing and attentive. I wish I could eat here everyday!

Amazing surprise. I bopped in with no expectations, not knowing the reputation this spot had, but I can say the reputation is well deserved. Very fish-forward but playful sushi from a great chef who is also a great host. For dinner you need a reservation well in advance, but for lunch you can get lucky like me and land a seat with the chef.

Outstanding omakase menu. I really enjoyed the meal. My girlfriend had the vegetarian omakase which was also thoughtfully prepared. It was a rare opportunity for us to eat together at a high end restaurant as often tasting menus are limiting because she is a vegetarian. The service was excellent as well.

A small, intimate japanese omakase with just 7-8 seats. The experience was truly amazing, highlighted by the chef's passion for Japanese cuisine and his attentive service. A memorable part of the meal was the variety of rare Japanese citrus. The standout was the sea urchin - undoubtedly one of the best dishes I've ever tasted. Please go there with someone special, and appreciate the master’s skills and knowledge. Worth every penny.

Probably the best japanese restaurant in Portugal. However, for the price that is charged, I expected a lot more. It is "good", but not "amazing". Chef ir really nice, so that is a 4* (otherwise, would bem a 3*).

Interesting sushi, with a nice variety of artsy dishes and sashimi/nigiri. The chef was very laid back and extremely welcoming, a huge plus! A bit pricy but well worth the money if you enjoy every dish. Have had better though, but I think that's a matter of personal taste.

Where is the 6th star?! Chef Paulo Morais and his team create an experience where taste, nose and eyes eat all at the same time. It is amazing to see the chef prepare the sushi in a traditional way. Very professional and friendly staff. Shake served when requested, Japanese food at its best. You know it is good when Japanese people eat there. Domo Arigato Chef!

The BEST Omakase experience! The food was thoughtfully prepared and made. Chef and staff were attentive, playful and so kind. What I appreciate the most about this experience was how unpretentious it was and everyone was just enjoying VERY INCREDIBLE food in a relaxed setting. We had the sashimi and sushi omakase dinner menu, looking forward to try the other menus in future. Highly recommend!

Flawless experience in an intimate setting (8 seats). Unlikely to be a better Japanese restaurant in Lisbon.

A lot of care in this restaurant. They source each product very carefully, and they plan the menu based on seasonality. Proud Portuguese team with emphasis on Japanese techniques.

The best food experience I had till now. It was expensive.. but.. it was well spent. So.. it was not expensive.. when you go out after dinner and say " uau, it was everything awesome" The rice.. the best I ever eat!!! The atmosphere... very cosy and friendly. Sorry I did not take photos.. I did not have time to do it.. everything was so good and so detailed to taste that I did not bother about shot some dishes. To return! I recommend!!

It's about the ingredients and the close relation you establish with the chef during the experience. The perfect equilibrium. We visited it at dinner time, with the 8 momentums menu and I would do it again, either at lunch time or dinner. The menu changes every month, and you get to experience what is of the season and fresh. You feel in good hands, so everything just feels perfect.

If you love Sushi and Sashimi, this is a place you must try!!! Excelente place to eat very very fresh Sushi and Sashimi, the combination of flavor is extra ordinary! Chef Paulo Morais use real Japanese products and combine it with very fresh selected local fish and seafood in Portugal and this really make a big difference in Sushi. He drive to the south to select fruits and vegetable by himself in an organic farm. He use many kind of citric fruits which is very rare to find in Europe that give us totally new experience with wonderful flavors that explore in our mouth!! And he really explain everything while he is cutting fish and making sushi in front of us.. Very interesting experience!!! 5 stars!!!

Amazing experience, great informal ambience combined with great food and good wine pairing. All the dishes were great taking the best from nature and what the season has to offer, a real sensorial stimulation. Chef Paulo Morais and Hugo made us feel comfortably at home. Looking forward for the next visit

Back in April, on a short visit to Lisbon with my parents, we luckily stumbled across this place. It was 30min before their lunch closing time and we had no reservation but Paulo humbily let us in. Paulo and his team are humble, gracious and genuine. His craft and mastery of sushi are exceptional. It was amazing food in an intimate setting, and easily my parents most favorite and memorable meal of the trip. Thank you!

Great experience. The best Japanese restaurant in Lisbon. An amazing chef Paul works in the restaurant. Thanks for a lovely dinner. They only serve 8 people a day, but during the coronavirus only 4 people need to be booked in advance. Friendly and helpful staff.😍
