I recently visited this place and had an extremely disappointing experience. While at the bar, I was rudely pushed by two regular customers (as told by the bartender) for no apparent reason. When I brought this to the attention of the bartender, I was met with a dismissive response. Instead of addressing the issue or apologizing for the behavior of their patrons, the bartender told me that these were regular customers and suggested that I should either accept the situation or leave the bar. I was appalled by the lack of professionalism and the poor customer service I received. I felt disrespected and unsafe during my visit. It's essential for any establishment to prioritize the well-being and comfort of all its guests, and I believe this place failed to do so in this instance. I cannot recommend this bar to anyone, as I believe there are other establishments in the area that provide a safer and more enjoyable atmosphere, where all customers are treated with respect and courtesy. I hope the management of this bar takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary changes to ensure that all patrons have a positive experience in the future.

It's a best gay bar in Amsterdam. For everybody and not for everyone. Have a really very nice "Naked Bar" in every Tuesday and many other events in the week and year. Definitely recommend it to visit if you are in Amsterdam

Straight guy (65). Not been to de Spyker for a while but always find it a comfortable and safe place. Just beware which way you turn at the top of the stairs as you might inadvertently end up in the dark room!

One of my favourite Gay bars in Amsterdam since my 1st visit in 1991 a regular Gayhaven in super chilled local bar perfect mix of friendly/cruise bar. Unfortunately this visit wasnt up to standard I had tripped on my way to bar and was unaware that I had hit my face and forehead and had been bleeding. I justed needed to sit down and gather myself so hadn't brought a drink slightly concussed and disorientated all of a sudden the barman did ask me politely to leave the bar. I did have a few drinks before hand. But i wasnt aggressive or drunk just disorientated. I got home to find I had a bruised bloody face. I was disappointed that No one had asked me if I was okay? or if I needed help? ... pointed out or offered me to clean my wounds. I was just asked to leave. Whilst I realize that I didnt look appealing and not appetising.I found it amazing that somewhere flying a rainbow flag which is a symbol of pride, freedom and sanctuary. Offered no care or support but just kicked me out of bar. Perhaps as a disabled older gay man who also happens to have Asperges I wasnt the kind of Gay clientele this bar wants any more?disappointing.

A great place and have been going there for many years, but this Bartender "Jerry" is an obnoxious fool. Apparently a favourite of the owner, for who knows what reason, feels he can get away with threatening longtime customers? What a joke. Owner, this guy is a drama queen and you can do much better. Either steady him on or get rid of him.

Great place to meet your friends When you enter the place you'll be surprised by how friendly the staff are, smiling all the time, very helpful. With 3 bartenders you'll get your drinks very fast again with a smile. The place offers all kinds of drinks and cocktails, they also have snacks such as chips and nuts. You can make friends there as the place is cozy and a bit narrow so it's easy to talk to people and get involved in a conversation. In case you like to have fun there's a pool table at the back of the bar. The place is a safe place and super gender equal friendly. The music is great so you can dance and enjoy the music, you can also request a song and the staff will be very helpful and understanding and yes they'll add it to the list for you. If you're looking for a different kind of fun the bar offers a black room experience at the second floor, You can get condoms downstairs next to the bar. There's a rest room upstairs. You can smoke outside for sure but you're not allowed to take your drink with you though. You need to wear something light underneath your jacket as it's super warm inside

Cozy gay bar in the heart of the city. Reasonable prices, friendly crew, long bar, open fireplace, pool table. Mixed crowd. Happy hour around 17.00 hours. Find the winding staircase to 1st floor for the toilets and smoking room. You may also go outside for a smoke.

Nice place with great beers. People were easy to talk with here. We will diffently come back. Also the atmosphere is a bit ruff which is nice.

been there on a quiet rainy Monday night . the place was understandably very quiet. i think on weekends and in the summer the bar must be pretty crowded with locals and tourists. median age is 50~60 years old. nice decoration added year by year by the owner . it's quite hot inside, so ask the friendly bartender to give you a key for the locker and you can undress appropriately 😉ah there's an small open dark room upstairs.

My favorite gay bar in Amsterdam. The owners and bartenders are always so nice. The music and atmosphere is great. A mostly 30s-50s crowd. They have a pool table and space upstairs to have fun.

I started revisiting to Spijker Bar a little more this year, compared to my past few visits prior to the C-19 and I must say that I've been genuinely enjoying my visits way more in 2023! I knew that I could get naked Spijker Bar any day but it wasn't until during my visit to Amsterdam last August for my 1st ever Pride that I learned on their website of a 'Naked Bar' theme held every Tuesdays for both customers and barmen! As well as on Pride Week... I went specifically on the Naked Bar theme for my 2nd time on 10th October and I must say on THAT particular day? it was my BEST ever visit at Spijker! - as well as the night before Amsterdam Pride being another good moment.

Nice bar filled with a good mix between locals and tourists. Vibe is perfect, drinks are nice and cheap, barmans are all super nice and friendly, and the clientele is also very nice and polite. The crowd ranges between 30-60 and it s nice. I’d recommend anyone, including gay couples, to visit this place 🌈

Place is alright, felt at ease but the crowd is a bit older. Being there with a friend was nice, but as a 25yo I wouldn’t go there alone I think.

Went with 5 friends and we didn't realise that it was a gay bar until we walked in. However everyone was super welcoming! We had a great night!!! Drinks were reasonable priced and they took card. The smokers room is upstairs but not well ventilated so if you don't want your hair and clothes to smell like smoke just go out the front :)

I went to the Spijker Bar in Amsterdam, but it was a very bad experience. The bar had some of the worst music I have ever heard and there were people that smelled like they smoked cigarettes inside.

I love this place!! I had a great time at Spijker Bar during my recent visit to Amsterdam. The bar is easy to find and it is cozy and inviting. I met the owner and bartenders who were very welcoming and friendly and made me feel at home. I went on a Tuesday nite when the theme was Naked Tuesday and had a blast. All the guys there were naked & friendly and I met a lot of sexy guys and enjoyed a number of great conversations with Dutch men. There are a mix of ages and the vibe is great! Everyone there is out to have a great time. The bar gets packed with a lot of guys who are out to make the most of their Tuesday naked nite... so naturally there was lots of action both in the bar and in the dark room / play space upstairs. The evening kicked off with a dom using ropes to tie up and suspend a sub - I had never seen this actualIy done before and it was fascinating to watch. I highly recommend the Naked Tuesday nites and a visit to Spijker Bar. You won't be disappointed!
