I wanted to share an incident that happened at Soho on Saturday 24/06/2023. First let me mention that I visited with my friend, we are both members of the LGBT community and have been clients of Soho for the past 7+ years. We have never been involved in any trouble previously there or any other establishment we visited. On Saturday 24/6, my friend and I were finishing our first beer. We put our beers on the bar while dancing. At that point I noticed that a bartender (tall, short hair, nose ring) took our -yet unfinished- beers and was about to throw them away. Instinctively, and because the place was loud and I would not be audible if I just talked to them- I clapped my hands once to grab their attention and show that our drinks were not finished yet so they should not be taken away. That was it! No other gestures, swearing, talking or whatsoever. The bartender did put our beers back but said “Ok, I will get you removed”. At that point frankly, I didn’t realise what he meant. A few moments later, a security guard dressed in black approached us and aggressively asked us to leave the premises! If you are reading this you are probably thinking that this doesn’t make any sense. I was thinking the same, until when we left the club, my friend told me that the bartender has been very insistent with him on Grindr, without much reciprocation from my friend’s side… This is blatant abuse of power, discrimination and harassment, all punishable offences by law in the Netherlands. And all this at a place like Soho which markets itself as safe and inclusive.. I am planning to forward this complaint via email to the club and hoping to speak to the management about it before any other escalation. Will update if there is any response.

The bar is an interesting one, but probably is better not to attend in the happy hours, cause its getting crowded. Its mostly a gay bar, where you feel comfortable. The downside is the you have to pay for the toilet. The prices are high as Amsterdam prices are. I recommend it for the music and atmosphere. Nice bartenders.

If you’re black and/or foreigner don’t go to this place! I had the most rude experience last Saturday night when I was at the bar on the ground floor just by the entrance together with my partner, and although it was full and we patiently waited for our turn at the bar, we were actively ignored by the guy working there, who took the order from everyone in front of us, all the people the came after us, and one more round of people after that, and as if it wasn’t enough, when there was only me waiting for my order he pointed the finger at my face as if he was gonna take it, and moved it to the guy who just arrived last, took his order and moved to the other side of the bar in a clear demonstration that he was not gonna serve us, and on top of that he was laughing at it as if it was any fun to discriminate people.

Stay away from this bar! The service is very unfriendly, drinks are overpriced, and music/sound is way too loud everywhere to enjoy. The idea is of a gay bar, but it feels more like a tourist gay trap, or an Erasmus party for straight students. Much better authentic gay bars in the city.

The bouncer punched me PUNCHED ME and shoved my head against a wall because he thought I was someone else. I have never in my life been more disgusted by a club or by the people who work there. These horrible people should be in jail. DO NOT COME HERE. Theres a reason theres never a line. There are 5 better clubs on that street alone. Where you'll get to leave with your dignity.

Amazing staff, good music and ambience. You do get charged for the bathroom but you can get a pass for 4 euros to use the bathroom the entire night. They also have a wardrobe for your coats and other belongings. I lost my keys and the staff was super helpful and friendly getting them back to me safely. Would highly recommend this place to have a good time!

Terrible violence against guests. Even though I have bought a couple of beers the bartender tried to force me to buy expensive drinks (a bottle for 150 EU), and when I didn’t buy, he called for aggressive security which threw me out the door without your things, bag and outerwear. I'm still in awe of this place. I'm first time facing that rude environment. Be careful!😬

Worst bar staff I have ever met. Been there yesterday both of the guys behind the bar just pick their favourites and stick with them. Almost impossible to order a drink. The bar staff is beyond arrogant, racists, disrespectful awful guys. The most horrible experience I’ve ever had in Amsterdam (Born and raised here).

Sometimes there is a bit aggressive atmosphere inside as they let too many people in (lots of bachelor parties) so people start pushing as the walking space is limited. Bouncers don't add to a safe positive atmosphere, trying to intimidate instead of communicate. Once I was refused to enter because he didn't like my trousers, so not really the place where you can be who you are. Bartenders are very nice and friendly although they do serve drinks to drunk people which you are not supposed to do but ok that happens in more places:)

Everyone was so helpful it was my first night out in Amsterdam and everyone was so attentive. The bouncer super lovely the bar staff was quick and the girls doing a show were great. Will come back again and check out what's Friday like.

No entry fee, respectful bouncers. Wardrobe is located on the 3rd floor and it's 1,50€. Toilets seem to have a fee too. Quick, friendly and helpful bartenders. Lovely atmosphere, good DJane that evening. Drinks cost a bit but that seems to be standard in Amsterdam.

1 star and want to explain why. Really nice bar great drinks and good music. But!!. They make you pay for the toilet. This is way below any European standards. All bars and restaurants should provide free toilets for their customers. I bet they breaking some laws or at least bending them. And that b...h by the toilet with card terminal needs to take some chill pills. Sort out yourself guys. Charge more for drinks. Noone will notice.

Levi is the most sweetest and fun person I've met in Amsterdam! I would come back to see him again! Also good music and nice cocktails 🍸

My friends and I went there last night, and got some of the warmest, nicest service we've ever received. We loved the vibe - it was very welcoming, the drinks weren't the cheapest but clearly made with love (and lots of liquor) and we were able to chat with the staff despite the busy-ness. We are definitely coming back as soon as possible. P.s: Ricardo, we love you! Thank you for sharing your last surviving cocktail menu with us.

good bar, good music and good atmosphere! unfortunately the girl who charges to enter the bathroom is a rude, uneducated and unprofessional person! For people like her, they don't make you want to go back to the bar

Alexander and his team went above an beyond to accommodate us, as part of a bachelor’s party (the grooms met each other at the bar). Despite being short staffed the made an exception for us to open early. They took great care of us and really made the couple feel special.

Actually, everything was fine until the bartender became really rude when I asked him for a tissue. I mean, we had already incurred some expenses and ordered a lot of drinks, but the way the bartender behaved was disgusting when I requested a napkin. When I addressed it to him, he became touchy. If your staff tends to be hands-on with customers, it's quite odd. I suppose the management should focus on training the staff on how to treat customers. It was quite disappointing, even though the manager apologized later; the evening was spoiled in the end.

Please hire a different djay. I requested a song since me and my friends wee the only ones n the bar. Said he couldn't so I assuming they just play a YouTube video (at least that's the quality). Utter trash

Best gay bar i‘ve been to ever! Medium-sized bar with great atmosphere and amazing music. DJ was awesome and the barkeepers were friendly as hell 🤟 Biiiig recommandation, especially because the entry is free!

Bartender are super rude/bitter and they overcharged me differently when i didnt notice. I ordered shots in four different occasions (the same one throughout the entire night) and i ended up with 2 different prices. How is that possible. Unprofessional. They remind me of the stereotypical hurtful and mean grindr gays. Get better staff please.

Nice bar, well priced drinks, and good music. Melvin is a star - so happy he got my attention and brought us inside. One con is the charge to use the bathroom.

Fun place to go for dancing if you just want to dance and have a good time. I went with a friend and they played the best music. And it had a lot of place compared to couple of other places.

If you just move to Amsterdam this is the place to be, Amazing atmosphere with beautiful people. Meanwhile if you're going to stay for sometimes in NL but doesn't know where to get some ParTy favor like Tina and more then visit Bitchemic dot com

It was fun on New Year's Eve, but I felt exploited there, because the security department for putting jackets says on the wall the insurance is 1€, and when I went to put my jacket and saw it looks expensive, she asked me for 3€ more than the rest of my friends, I don't care about money, but it's very shameful that it's a nice place In the center of Amsterdam to deal with customers exploitatively and not fixed prices

I’d say branding this as a “gay bar” is a bit of a stretch; no door policy as the majority of the customers were aggressive straight laddish males. Music is the same- it’s trying to be any other bar you’d go to. Extremely busy, hard to move about and ridiculous toilet access. Drinks were reasonably priced and staff were friendly. No entry fee.

My friends and I had a great experience at this club! Even when I managed to lose my bag the staff helped me find it a few days later, super grateful, 11/10!!

Levi is the best!!! H/she’s so good, very welcoming and such a great host. Made me feel at home, absolutely love him/her company and vibe. I wish s/he was at the door!!! Fuku is amazing too! An amazing experience on the Regulierstraat! Good ambiance, nice drinks, gooooood shots and great staff! The outfits are the best and definetly the queen of the street during this past month. Love everything about it 😍

This is not true.. The true is you work from 17:00 till 04:00, after the bar is close you need to clean... sometimes takes more then a hour but we get paid only 30 min. The worse is that so many hours and is only 30 min pause. The manager (the bold one) treats everyone without respect. The rest of the crew do what they want when the owner is not there. There is lot of people from the crew that use a lot of drugs. They screen at employees, they don't pay on time or not at all. They don't respect the law of Netherlands. Is normal the the crew ask more money and after they take the money home. And many other stupid stuff. FELL SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE WHO WORKS THERE. OH ALMOST FORGOT THE CREW IS TREATED LIKE SLAVES.
