I love the place, it looks so nice! But the pianist was not really my thing. The pianist normally plays popular song, and me, as a piano lover (more class or jazz) it wasnt really my thing. But I admit that the ambiance was nice. Nice place to go with your friends to have a laugh and dance. 🙃

Wow what a bar. Located right near the centre of Amsterdam, this Piano bar might just be my favorite piano bar out of all the cities I've been to. The table is exceptional as is the bar staff. Keep in mind you will have to pay the standard 0.50 Euro to use the bathroom. The drink prices were very reasonable and the clientele where friendly and out to enjoy themselves.

Nice atmosphere (around 1AM) and friendly bartenders. Really surprising and a bad experience that you have to pay for the toilet, first bar that I've seen do this. Maybe the bar would sell more drinks if people wouldn't have to consider that going to the toilet costs. I am pretty sure they would make more money if they just removed the toilet fee. Minus two stars for the combination of: toilet fee, higher priced drinks and entrance fee.

This was the highlight of our Friday night fun in Amsterdam 🍾🥂🍷🎶🎹dancing. The bartenders, the manager✨️, even the security guard were extremely nice and helpful. I felt really privileged to be around such caring, funny, celebratory individuals 👑. She even found my phone that fell down. Top notch classy piano bar. ALEX played whatever was requested. Had a great night out here on kings day. Pianist sang English songs from 80's and 90s and songs were what everyone can sing to. You can also request songs and tip the singer in a bowl on the piano, although he didn't sing our request of 'dead ringer for love' by Meatloaf. It was empty when we first arrived just after 9pm but got extremely busy shortly after and when we left about 2am it was still busy. Drinks are reasonably priced. And staff are very polite and on the ball. Would definitely recommend to those that like having a dance and a singalong. There were people of all ages ranging from 20s through to 60s. Feels like a club in a bar with singalong songs you can dance to

Nice enough establishment, but after paying €5 to get in, was appalled that they then charged to use the bathroom. When people these days not carrying cash, it was near impossible to go to the toilet. Completely unacceptable in 2023, and not convinced legal!!

The bar requires you to pay for the entrance (€2), and yet you go to the toilet and you are required to pay (50p)... Which is completely illegal and irrational... Nice place for the worst service you can get. It's all about the money .. fake

The place caters to Dutch people only i suppose. We didn't find many tourists in there. There was an entry fee (like 1 euro). The music was primarily only Dutch which is strange as it's not a country known to have a lot of great music options of its own (i might be less informed simply)

The location is great, around 9:30-11:30 it is a really nice pianobar with good lounging vibe and after it becomes a nightclub. I celebrated my bday there and it was awesome as they have big booths for groups like ours and we could catch up first before going out. Thanks pinobar Maxim! 🎉

Good entertainment. 5€ entry which includes cloakroom use is absolutely fine. However, charging 1.20€ by card to use the toilets is a bit cheeky!

Music is fine. There is no need for a singer. I mean, how many people can sing "I want to break free" better than Freddie? There is also a 5 EUR entrance fee (which is kind of acceptable), BUT there's a 1.20 EUR to use the TOILET in the bar?! Now that's ridiculous. Other than that - it's an okay bar to check on 18-25 years old 😀

I visited Maxim last year with a group and was pleasantly surprised to hear and sing along to such great music. Loved the cozy and pleasant atmosphere and the friendly staff. Their bar has a great variety of spirits, wines and cocktails, though I found it a bit on the expensive side.

The Pianobar is an awesome place to enjoy a well-made drink, to chat with friends (and make new ones!), to listen to the talented entertainer of the night play the piano and sing song requests... and to dance and sing along yourself! The staff is wonderful - the whole team! The ambiance is warm and welcoming... a great place to enjoy a fun night!

Originally my boyfriend and i wanted to go to another bar but it was just overcrowded so we went to maxim and i loved it! I was so happy the other bar was crowded😊 yes there is an entry fee of 5€ and 0.50€ fee for the bathroom but that was not a problem at all! The staff was really nice and the cocktails were amazing. Next time when we are in amsterdam we will definitely return. We had so much fun thank you so much!

The musician was amazing - piano skills, great voice and his energy created the party atmosphere in this place that got people dancing and having a great time. The space and bar were very nice too. Overall a place where you can spend a greta evening.

Very good live musics but cocktails are bit expensive yet it's not worth it and the service in the bar was ok! But what makes the best service is the gentleman(guard) outside is very welcoming and asked how it goes . 👏

In the evening I went, the musician was playing keyboard (not piano), and most of the time you would hear the rhythm (not the instrument). The bar has an animated crowd if you want to dance, but if you want to listen to piano, it's better to check the program first

Tried this bar after walking past a few times and being a lover of a good live piano session. The entry fee is cheap (1€ before 9pm I believe), but the bar tries itself as a posher place and the drinks are quite pricey. I would have been overall happy with that, if the toilet lady wasn't so incredibly unfriendly. She speaks very harshly to you before you even walk through the door. They charge you for each go with 50 cents, despite you having paid the entry fee and being a paying customer buying drinks. When you enquire, you get no explanation from the bar staff, and the toilet lady will talk down to you, making it some of the worst service I have experienced. She was so busy charging people to enter when the bar was full, I never actually saw her clean. To be honest I almost understand her upset, having to explain the fee to every customer every evening, but there is definitely other ways this can be dealt with. The reason this is upsetting is because in most bars, the business pays a good enough living wage to the toilet attendant so that the customers do not have to cover for it, especially in a higher end bar. Giving a cleaner change is common place, but ALWAYS out of one's own curtesy and not as a given demand. Additionally, as stated in other reviews, it isn't legal made worse by the attitude you get greeted with everytime you have to use the facilities. I was one of many people questioning this charge that evening and none were met with nice customer service or an explanation. To be honest, there are some lush live music bars in close proximity where the entrance fee is similar and you can enjoy cheaper drinks and free toilets all night.

I spent a chill and joyful night at this bar, very friendly people and staff. The pianist was amazing yesterday, and love the songs request game. Will definitely do it again

The best! Came across this place by chance and we absolutely loved it! The piano playing was first class and could request any song we liked. Had a wonderful evening and good drinks.

No offense to the piano player or bar staff, but I would not go back to this place. 5 euro cover charge, they forced us to use coat check even though we didn't want to, and on top of all of this, they charged money to use the bathroom. As the owner notes in their response, I recommend reading other reviews before deciding whether or not this place is for you.

The music can be nice if you are lucky! Other than that it is extremely expensive… we asked for a surprise shot and it was 5eu per shot, a little extreme! On top of that it’s 5eu entrance fee pp AND you also pay for the toilet …what is the entree fee for? It’s a 50/50 night if you can get over the price…semi recommend

When the music is on, it gets a bit too packed inside, but it's fun too. The music was great — a single guy played on 2 keyboards and sang, and it was worth the money for sure. The entrance was 5 euro.

Atmosphere is okay. Drinks are expensive. BUT They charge for the toilet. Odd but okay. I paid 1€ for the entrance. 50 cents for the toilet paid a coin. The next time, I paid by card and I was charged for 1,50 ! What the hell is it?

A piano man every night. Relaxed atmosphere a bit pricy and they charge 50 c to use the toilet. That is stupid considering you are paying for the drinks. Still a good place to spend a few hours and listen to good music

They take money to pee even if you have paid o e Gin Tinic 12€ , they charge you for your jacket 1€ in the entrance , so everything you do its with payment. Maybe if I somke outside they will charge me? .. dont come in this place totally disaponited

Absolutely fantastic and thoroughly entertaining! A great bar where we enjoyed all of the piano songs selected. -It was mostly 90s classics (E.g. Queen) and some modern songs like those from Lady gaga and Brittany Spears!

Completely great place! Very good interior - stylish, have atmosphere and personality in it. Here you can drink wine, coctails, have a good time with friends. On Friday and Saturday you can enjoy the live playing piano and even ask to play your favourite song. Very soulful bar❤️

The bar was cold (colder than outside), it smelled like chlorine (cleaning products) everywhere, the bartender wouldn't make us cocktails that were listed on the menu, and they brought me a cheaper beer than what I ordered and was listed on the menu. The two cocktails we got were poorly made. We left without finishing our drinks. On the positive note, the interior design is nice and the piano player was good.

Great bar, lovely atmosphere. Glad to spend an evening there. Prices are slightly expensive but roughly the same as most other bars in the area. Would definitely visit again next time I'm in Amsterdam.

We went there for a drink, it was really fun and energetic experience. You can request the artist different songs. Just staying there will boost your mood. Although it is not easy to find empty seats.

Nice bar, great and friendly doorman and bartenders but ruined by the militant lady who operates the toilet. She guarded them like Cerberus and physically pushed me away when I asked a question about the fee of 50c to go to the toilet. I was neither drunk, aggressive or rude but she instructed the staff to have me removed from the venue. The staff basically apologised on her behalf and offered to pay the 50c but claimed there was nothing the could do her behaviour as the toilets were not under their control. I have zero objection about leaving a tip for a friendly person who maintains a toilet (which is common around the world) but this ladies attitude and behaviour was completely unacceptable and reflects very badly on the bar. What was otherwise an enjoyable night out stained by the behaviour of a rather oddly opinionated lady. Disappointed.

Paid €5 to get in which isn't too bad, but then you are charged for using the toilet and drinks are very expensive. Not to mention I found 3 fruit flys in my drink. Music was good but didn't make up for the rest
