Service was good. I would give the chef more stars for creativity and palting but other than that it is not worth the money. Not yummy food, desert tasted like old stale crushed cookie with some weird thing in it, tiny portions, overpowering truffels taste in every dish, including desert!!! plus, it is very very very expensive that it feels as if you are being ripped off your money. A dish that is supposedly has fish in it bht no you only get a foam that taste like fish over bunch of sea greens!!!but you pay $$$ for that...and They kept pouring our glasses with water from the faucet behind us (taste a bit saulty!) every now and then and charge us €40 for it. Unbelievable!!! Don't go there.

Worst experience we had in a Michelin star restaurant so far. Unexperienced waiters, no sense menu… ( we have been in meny * and worked as a chefs in meny of them as well…) About food: Snacks were good, nothing to complain about. Langostine course was a mess. Completely raw langostine and big ginger chunks killing all the flavours. Colrabi and some smoked fish same: the hole dish only tasted smoke, nothing else. Duck without seasoning( at least we had some salt on the table) and very chewy. “Foie” ravioli was raw and loosing liquids. Dessert it’s not a dessert. Beans ice cream with a ton of boiled pumpkins and hazelnuts. Ugliest quenelle I’ve ever seen. About service: We got food on the table before being asked about drinks. We had to repeat 3 times we wanted still water instead of sparkling. The leaf on top of one of the dishes blew away in front of the waiter and we got one plate with the leave and one without ( that leaf stayed on the floor the entire night). Two different waiters asked if we wanted tea or coffee, so they don’t communicate each other. I don’t understand what’s the michelin guide thinking. But if you have to go to a michelin restaurant in Amsterdam, do not choose Bolenius.

My sister is vegetarian and we were hungry I thought to give this restaurant another try. This time I came with the knowledge that it will be a vegetable-focused meal. We both got 5-course dinner, she, of course, got the vegetarian and I ordered traditional. So I had one course of eel and one course of steak. The starters, followed by the salad from the garden, then I had eel - which was amazing, followed by the toughest meat I ever had on my plate and finished it all with the cheese course - beautiful cheese selection. My sister had a course she did not like, the main course for her was a slow roasted beet in clay, she had a bite and did not want to finish it. No wine this time, as we both quit alcohol this year and with 180 euro for two people, I must say, its a interesting concept, but I think this was my last time dining here.

When we called to make our reservation, we asked if they could serve us 100% plant based food, to which they responded that it would be taken care of. We started receiving our Amuse-Bouche which was tasty. One of the waiters then came to our table and confirmed with us that we would be served the plant based menu. Thereafter we received bread accompanied with some "butter", which we assumed was plant based as they had confirmed twice that it would be taken care of. After tasting the butter multiple times we started to react to it in an unpleasant way. So just to be sure we asked once more, and were told that it was indeed regular butter made out of cow milk. This was followed by an apology by the waiter but nothing more than that. The waiter then asked us if we wanted it to be taken away, which we found to be self-explanatory. In the hopes of not ruining our evening that we had been looking forward to, we attempted to enjoy the rest of our dinner. To be frank, we did not manage to achieve this due to our stomach's reaction and our already declined mood. Additionally, during one of the following dishes the waiter forgot one of the ingredients mid-explanation, which we found unprofessional. As people who follow a purely plant-based diet, we found that we were not taken seriously and felt uncomfortable. We did not get any compensation. The bill we received included all components that we had eaten/drunk except for one of the two still water bottles we had. All in all, we will not be coming back nor recommending the restaurant to anyone.

This restaurant was an over-the-top gastronomic WOW!! The serving dishes even had their own artistic presentation. This definitely brought dining to a new level.

We came here for lunch and it was very delicious. Besides main course they served entrees. I liked salt from Zeeland and that they have small garden near by where you can see how they grow vegetables for their kitchen. Waitress was friendly and explained everything, I liked they are polite and attentive. I liked they accept cash!! I didn’t like they served tap water and took 15 euro for it!!! It’s insane, the water is free everywhere in Amsterdam. I cannot give 5 stars and recommend it to my friends only because of it, I hope they will improve their service.

The food is marvelous. I went there for the lunch menu, see the pictures. They maintain their own garden and many ingredients are home grown. It's pricey but worth the experience. First green Michelin star restaurant in the Netherlands.

Very surprising dishes. I had the vegan menu and it was very tasty and good. Highly recommend!

Service was excellent, food was great especially for vegetarians / vegans. Our wine pairing was amazing. High emphasis on sustainability on the menu + use of seasonal ingredients including from the garden adjacent to the restaurant.

The place is nicely decorated with minimalistic style. However, the overall experience leaves one ‘confused’, for a lack of a better word. The ingredients are certainly very fresh and you can tell lots of thought went into dishes but the taste is mediocre. I can’t say that I’d like to have any of the dishes again. Scallops, for example, were tasty, but the sauce that was paired with them didn’t go well - making the whole dish unable to live to its potential. The ice cream with liquorish was an interesting presentation but it just wasn’t tasty. The selection of wines and service was good. Overall, interesting experience but for this level of restaurant the dishes should be much more sharp.

Sadly I was a little disappointed with lunch at Bolenius. The food was beautifully presented and the service was really good but I had higher expectations with the taste of the dishes. My monkfish main was undercooked and tough which was a shame. We did really enjoy the selection of Dutch cheeses for dessert and that there was Dutch wine on the menu.

Many thanks to Luc and Jop for the excellent service on our long evening of over 4 hours in your restaurant! We (couple) both had the Special Michelin TheFork menu and got the Signature Dish (fish dish) in addition to our 6 courses. All courses were prepared with fresh herbs and vegetables from your own garden. Especially the Plantbased menu was exceptional in its combination. Taste-wise, everything was very well coordinated and only one course had a taste surprise with light smoke flavors and spiciness. Whether this fit into the combination of courses is a matter of individual taste. Overall, the arrangement of the dishes was very nice and appealing to look at, which definitely had a positive impact on the taste experience. There were only a few small things to criticize in the high-quality star cuisine, so the degree of cooking of the beans was not optimal and individual menu components had already been arranged for a longer time, so the molds and crackers were a little too soft and therefore no longer crispy, the espresso at the end for 9.95 € was tasty okay, but clearly too cold - but as I said, these were only small things at a very high level. The wine accompaniment and selection by Jop was very good and also the explanations of the wines were top and fit perfectly with the individual courses.

Absolutely an amazing experience! Every single piece of food had an extravagant amount of taste, the ambience was calm and comfortable, and superb service!

Fab lunch experience, starting by welcome and dishes descriptions. Job was a great server, but they were all good. Amuse bouche 2 star Michelin quality, the most fab homemade bread, just enough dramatics to make experience stand out, but not enough to turn gimmicky. Dishes were very good, the only one that didn't gel with me was the watermelon "steak", its texture too off-putting, but everything else, superb. Great coffee, cute petit fours. Definitely will be back. Private dining room fitting up to 18, also impressive. €59 lunch set menu, €115 for dinner. A le carte was also available.

Very good restaurant serving dishes from their own vegetable garden. Wine pairings are good and also include some Dutch wines. We had both vegetarian and the normal menu. It is interesting to see what they are able to do without using any fish/meat in a dish.

Beautiful presentation and creative dishes. Vegetables are a highlight and the care given to each ingredient is amazing. The overall experience is really good and worth the price tag.

We went the night before their August vacation started. Fixed course with wine pairings. The food was excellent with good serving appearance as you would expect from a Michelin *. They were absolutely all about Dutch cuisine, so they are sticking to their roots. The wine pairings were nice but not outstanding. None of us had packed fancy clothes but it turns out there were some T-shirts, a couple of guys in hoodies, and blue jeans running around, so jacket and tie not needed.

Great place, great people, great food. We stumbled in quite by chance and were pleasently surprised. The ambience is understated, almost nordic, but still warm and welcoming. The noise level was very low so that a meaningful conversation at the table was possible. The services is excellent, very friendly and while it is a young group of people working here it is professional, and still welcoming. The team really made a positive difference. Now, the food. As mentioned we stumbled into this place without having planned so. The culinary journey the team took us on was great. From the kitchen greetings that had a great range of taste to the main course. I hade the sole and the combination of tastes was fantastic. I really loved it. If you look for a special place to go this is a great choice.

Food presentation was impressive, the colour, arrangement, texture, the wide selection of vegetables used to create their dishes from their very own garden around the corner. Quite novel. Portions were small, on the expensive side, quite bland.

Nice dinner - creative dishes, unusual mix of ingredients, staff friendly. Nicely displayed, as you can see on the pictures. However, many dishes felt not properly seasoned (in german: fade), so does not really feel like a Michelin-starred restaurant. Also service didn’t feel as professional / trained (I arrived 20 minutes ahead of my friends and was offered nothing to drink besides water).

Very creative and wonderful dishes with all fresh ingredients from the garden next to the restaurant. Well deserved a star restaurant.

Modern fine dining at its best. This is a very creative restaurant that consistently surprises the palette. I enjoy the wines also. Clean modern interior, almost minimalist. Great staff.

Food is good, service is unbearably slow. An hour to get the main course and close to an hour waiting just to get the check. Not a one Michelin star experience.

A great trio through a modern take on Dutch cuisine using local ingredients. Great food, warm and nice service. Thank you!

We have been quite disappointed. The food does not provide any surprises, sometimes really bland. A course was not great at all with no balance in the tastes (did not even eat half of it). The wine is a real issue with the cart indicating Margaux for instance without this being a Margaux... very misleading. The only surprise is this restaurant getting a Michelin star to be honest. We will not come back!

Love this restaurant. We always buy the box that they sell in Christmas and we really enjoy it (it is becoming a tradition after two years of lockdown). The ingredients are incredibly fresh and the flavors are amazing. Really a must if you are in Amsterdam.

Definitely an experience. Very friendly staff. Each course was visually amazing. Some courses were more of a hit that others. Overall a lovely dining experience

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why. The staff were also very well-...
