Honestly, the food was delicious. We had absolutely no complaints on the food. We all loved our pancakes we ordered and drinks. There were plenty of tables available when we arrived after the Anne Frank Museum and seated quickly. Cons- you have to pay €0.50 for the bathrooms, even as paying customers. And you also cannot split the bill (even in half). Prices are also a bit higher than what we thought the food was worth as well.

A decent place but with bad service. I like the food in general. This is my first time to try Dutch pancakes. however, for someone coming from the UK where tap water is always served for free, I found it strange to ask for tap water and then the waitress said if we didn’t order drinks she cant bring us tap water despite that we ordered lots of food! She only brought one glass of water for our friend who ordered coffee! Also, we paid for the toilet but there were no tissues inside!

Pancakes tasted good. Enjoyed the vegan and gluten-free option. However, not nearly worth it’s price. I paid 2.20 for banana on top and then there were like maybe 5 thin slices of banana on the entire pancake. Good thing sirup is included though. The toilets were unfortunately not too clean, I hope that’s just a one time thing. I can recommend this place to anyone who has a lot of money and doesn’t really care about the price. But if you, like me, don’t have unlimited money, I’m sorry to tell you it’s not really worth it. There are cheaper places in Amsterdam that also have vegan options.

I had the pulled chicken, onion and cheese pancake with my partner having the gluten free bacon and cheese pancake. Food was actually very tasty however was a little more than we expected to pay. We had the orange, apple and strawberry smootie as well which was very nice! Unfortunately the restaurants has to charge €0.50 for the toilet but this charge does get donated to a charity. I believe there toilets were exploited previously as they were free to use so it has forced them to put a small charge on the toilets.

Honestly hands down one of the most delicious meals I’ve had! And I travel and eat out a lot, I also live in London. This bacon, cheese and egg pancake was perfection. The batter is clearly high quality and so is the cooking. Very impressed!! Staff is efficient and friendly. People complaining about silly things like toilet charge (charity!!!) and card payments need to reevaluate their mood when travelling to places they’re not used to. Ridiculous things to complain about and affect a hard working restaurant’s review score! 🤷🏻‍♀️

We tried the classic cheese and apple as well as a savory with spinach, egg, and cheese. This was our first time trying Dutch pancakes thus did not have something to compare them too, but were very tasty. We stopped on the way to Anne Frank Huis and was perfect for a 30 minute breakfast from time to sit down, order, and eat but you could linger longer if you wanted. Latte and Dutch coffee were good as well.

3.5 stars. Nice pancakes but you will find better elsewhere. Wouldn’t return when next in Amsterdam, although I would say it’s a safe bet to eat here. As other reviewers have noted, their tap water policy is strange and inconsistent. Their nearby branch offers tap water so at least go to that one instead of here! Quite expensive all in all.

Pancakes were absolutely delicious! I loved bacon and cheese and my husband really liked bacon and apple. We also ordered poffertjes to try and they were so buttery and delicious. This place is great for big groups. Service is quite slow though.

Crepe was good, service was average. Server didn’t come back and ask if everything was good or if I needed anything else. A bit over priced for what you get. You have to pay for the toilet which is odd for an establishment that you just paid to eat in, even in Europe.

We ordered the royal smoked salmon pancake (~€15), the veggie pancake (~€16), and two double espresso. The salmon pancake was the better of the two because the smoked salmon and lemon gave it good flavor, but the pancake on its own was a bit bland. The veggie pancake was also surprisingly bland. Once it came time to pay, we realized we were not given a pesto that was supposed to come with the veggie pancake. It probably would've helped with the flavor. We mentioned this oversight to the server, but there was nothing to be done; we'd already eaten the bland veggie pancake, and they offered no correction or refund to the missed item. We also asked for two tap waters and were told they did not serve that, but that we must purchase bottled water. We declined, as we don't like the excess waste, and it was already costly. We later asked our server later for tap water and he obliged (thankfully). So their rules wwre different depending on who you ask. Pancakes were a decent texture, but overall lacking in flavor. Atmosphere was nice and airy. Staff seemed kind, but a little tense. Overall, I wouldn't recommend.

Second time in a Pancakes Amsterdam venue. We had our breakfast here before our visit to the Anne Frank House just next door. Food was good but the service was questionable. The waitresses are not very welcoming and seem a bit lost. We ordered 4 drinks, yet only received 3 and had to ask 3 times for the 4th drink to come. We ordered another extra drink afterwards and, again, had to ask 3 times before we finally received it ! We ended up waiting about 15 minutes for a cappucino while all the other tables around us received their drinks within 5 minutes of ordering. We arrived around 11 o'clock and immediatly got seated, there was no waiting line. This is the only reason i would recommend to come to this location instead of the one in the city center, yet the service in the city center was much better.

Nice pancakes, but quite expensive. I imagine it’s because this is located right next door to the Anne Frank House museum. Despite the price, service was quick and food very tasty!

The pancake was just ok. One of the staffs was kinda rude. Despite the fact that there were PLENTY of seats they did not allow the guests to choose where they wanna sit. They just kinda put all in the middle of the room. We wanted to check-in and have some pictures at a cute corner but i guess it’s their policy ( ? ) . Feel like it’s just a fast food bistro with overpriced pancakes.

I recently visited Pancake Amsterdam and was delighted by their extensive gluten-free pancake options. The service was impeccable, and the staff was accommodating. The gluten-free pancakes were not only a pleasant surprise but also incredibly delicious, making my dining experience truly enjoyable. Highly recommended for those with dietary restrictions or anyone looking for a delightful pancake experience!

The pancakes were delicious! I ordered a savory pancake with bacon, pesto, and an egg and it was great! Also, our waiter Tyten was friendly, attentive, and simply the best!

Came here for birthday pancakes and they are definitely worth every penny (even if they are a bit on the pricier side). The service was great and the restaurant as a whole was also very good. The only thing you need to be aware of is as it’s near the Anne Frank house, you will need to pay to use the toilet. Just make sure you have some change. Will be coming back next time I’m in Amsterdam.

Dutch pancakes were delicious. I ordered the goat cheese, peach and honey pancake under the savory category. It was not too sweet and not too savory 👌🏼. It seemed like a big portion but the pancake was thin like a crepe. Our server Tyten was pleasant and funny.

Went to the other branch close by but they don’t do poffertjes so was told to relocate here ahha. Bigger store and quicker services than the other branch!!! Wide variety of dishes and friendly staffs. A good classic place to visit in the Dam and many branches. Told them to kindly not put icing sugar so I can add them myself as I have a slightly less sweeter taste bud.

We have tried two types of pancakes both Dutch and American style. We like both equally they have different tastes but both are awesome.

[celiac / gluten free review] I was directed from the Negen location to eat here as they could accommodate me as celiac. However, even this location has a huge disclaimer at the top that they don’t recommend celiacs eating here so eat at your own risk. I am a symptomatic celiac so I took a big risk eating here based on other celiacs experiences, I was also fine. However, the food was mediocre at best, mine was pretty greasy and I honestly wouldn’t recommend it for other celiacs, it’s not worth the risk.

This place has lost a bit of its shine. The pancakes were not as well made as before. Still tasty but not as light and were quite oily - I think they must have changed the recipe. They created a long line by taking time to let people sit, despite there being a lot of open tables. And now they charge for water. You are not able to get a glass of water but have to pay for a bottle. Overall there are better places for a pancake in the city

Dutch pancake: goat cheese, spinach, garlic oil, & seeds is a good combination. Yummy but a bit oily. Whipped cream is really good and not sweet. Matcha latte is awful so I don’t recommend. Customers have to pay for the use of toilet even when they dine in. Understand that the money goes to UNICEF but donation should be a personal choice. Wouldn’t have dined in if I knew this beforehand.

Food was wonderful and the atmosphere was really nice. Really clean restaurant and well designed. The staff was helpful and attentive. I got to watch the mini pancake making which was fun!

Next to Anne Frank's house, this Pancake place had all the usual things (with a menu in English). The service was prompt but offhand. The pancakes and drinks were OK. We were asked to pay the total but not offered a bill until it was requested. OK for a snack, maybe not a special event though the staff seemed to be having a birthday celebration in the background.

Stopped here after visiting the Anne Frank museum. While the waiting staff was nice and the food came quickly (it was delicious- by the way), we waited a half hour for our bill and missed a boat that we needed to catch. Had the bill been more prompt, I would probably rate this higher because the food was so good.

  • 5/5 Josh 8 months ago on Google
The pancakes were amazing, and very filling. We requested to have our order faster because of a boat trip we had booked, and the food was rushed out to us and cooked to perfection. Very good experience, the chefs and service were 5* on Wednesday when I visited. Thank you.

5/5 for the mini pancakes, sooo delicious! But there was quite an unpleasant and miserable lady who served us, me and my partner were having a proper laugh about something between us and she really got angry about it for some reason. Better service would be wonderful!

After visiting Anne Frank Museum we dropped into this Dutch Pancake House found right across from it. The premises were absolutely beautiful. We were quickly shown to our table and given the menus. The easiest way to decide is to scan a QR code found on the table to see a picture menu describing each choice. We chose the smoked chicken with pesto and and Apple strudel pancake. Both were out of this world!. There were many more that we would have liked to try but each pancake was so big we were too full. Maybe next time. Definitely worth a visit.

Enjoyable breakfast close to the canal tours and Anne Frank house. Good place to start your day. There is a massive variety of Dutch pancakes. One is enough! Very filling.

Pancakes are so-so. We waited a long time, and that there were few people in the cafe. Toilet is 0,50€ and is dirty

The dutch pancake was average.. i ordered bacon, cheese and apple pancake. the cafe is good for waiting if you are doing the boat canal tour etc

I hardly ever comment on the service of a place, especially in Europe, unless it’s truly bad. We had very bad service here and it kind of ruined the experience for us. The staff basically ignored us (and everyone) despite the fact that there was a long line and tables open. Very inattentive and were too busy doing everything else (which didn’t look like much) to pay attention to the customers. Then, when we got up—twice!—to get their attention, they were flat-out rude and basically told us to wait at our table. We had been, for 15-minute stretches! Craziness. Anyway, 3 stars because the food was pretty good. But I wouldn’t go back. Felt very touristy and inauthentic.

As much as I enjoyed the unique pancakes, as well as its ideal location and friendly service, the pancakes are just a bit pricey.
